This is a gluten-free review, as both my husband and I are allergic to wheat (but don't have celiac). The pho here is pretty decent, but I have been spoiled by really good pho from Southern California. Their pho tai doesn't give me a headache like some can, which is always good in my book. Something in the spice of the broth is really overpowering, though, and I can't put my finger on it. Normally, I finish the entire bowl--including the broth--but on my most recent visit I couldn't do it. I'm hoping it was just a one-off, as it was delicious and piping hot my first visit. Won't be going back. Going to list our issues and everyone can make up their own mind. We got the following: - spring rolls - chicken wings - seafood pho - noodle combo meat plate First of all everything is pre made or pre cooked here. The waiter told this to us when I sent the combo plate back as the chicken was cold. He said we cook the meat earlier (he didn't specify but I think it is the day prior) and then when someone orders it we heat it up and serve. The spring rolls came out immediately so they are pre made as well. Anyone who has made spring rolls from scratch know they take at least 5 minutes or more to make. The chicken wings also came out in about 5 minutes. To me that screams pre-fried and then fried again prior to serving. I'm all for double fried chicken, but it was over cooked when it was served. Now what makes pho great is the broth. It must be cooked all day and made from scratch. The broth for the pho tasted like it came out of a box or can like the ones you can buy at Safeway. Definitely not from scratch. Here's the kicker. I sent the combo noodle back because the chicken was cold. They didn't prepare me a new plate, just took the meat off my plate and heated it up. Not sure about the health implications on that with the pan they may have used to recook food I had eaten from. When it came back it was fine, no longer cold. After a few bites I bit on something that was hard. Thinking it may have been a small bone from the beef I spit it out and it was a 1/2 long piece of wire. Like a wire from a brush used to clean a grill. We told the waiter who then grabbed another waiter to show them. No manager was on duty for me to speak to so we just asked for our check as we didn't want to eat any more of the food which there was a lot left of. The waiter offered to take the combo plate off the bill...how nice of him. And we didn't get an apology or an explanation or anything. When we mentioned the apology the waiter then apologized. So, that's our experience. From the other reviews here it seems most people are ok with the food. I say find a place that makes pho from scratch and actually cooks their food after you order it. If you do, I don't believe you'll come back to this place. read more

Pho 90 was not an improvement over Pho 97 in the same location. I ordered Vietnamese egg rolls and it came with sweet and sour sauce! Awful. And the broth for the Pho is the saltiest stuff I've ever tasted. It tastes good but it can't be good for you. Last chance for this place. And being in not so cheap Southlands, I can't see how they can survive. read more

As a person who eats pho all the time, and has had it at various places, this place is abysmal. Definitely not worth it's price -- you should never overprice pho, it basically defeats the principle of the dish itself. It wasn't even that good, below mediocre at best. What really gets me is what they price it at. Literally blows my mind. Almost every pho spot prices it way lower. If you don't mind driving just a little bit further I'm sure you can find better and the gas money will be worth it. read more

I'm surprised by the 3 star rating. This is the second time we have been here this week and everything was exceptional. The p1 has a perfect amount of meat and noodles. The appetizers: chicken lettuce wraps, fried dumplings, fried corn, bbq pork buns were amazing. The broth for the bowls is the best I've had. And we've tried every pho around the Denver metro area. I have to say I'm extremely disappointed in what I ordered vs what I received. As you can see in the first picture, their spicy chicken rice platter appears to be similar to orange chicken. What I received is 2 grilled pieces of chicken as seen in the second picture. When I called and asked the restaurant if their spicy chicken dish is fried or grilled, they said grilled. Then why on earth does the picture on your website's menu not reflect that? Never having been to this restaurant in person before I relied on the pictures from their online menu to decide what I was going to order which turned out to be a huge mistake. Their online menu not having a description for any of their items doesn't help either as one is left to rely on the fake catfish photos. Don't get me started on the seafood noodle bowl which consisted of mostly imitation crab shrimp. Needless to say this is not a restaurant I will be ordering from again. I am so happy to have a nicer Pho restaurant close to my house at the New Southlands location. It is three doors down from the movie theater and kitty corner to where all the main events are held at the outdoor mall. Very bright, great seating and simplistic design is wonderful. I took my daughters (ages 6/7) in here for the first time and I wasn't sure how they'd like it. After I got them the combo platter (they shared one) and their drinks came out with some lovely little pink cakes, I thought my girls were going to giggle more than they ate. It was a great experience. I then went there with only one of my daughters for dinner and it was just a nice. (This time I actually got some of the cake). I am hoping to get in there a few times during the spring when things warm up and we can walk around after! read more

Disgusting! Our wings were raw and they didn't want to make the order over! When we showed to waitress, she argued with us and said that's how the chicken looks. Showed her the blood dripping onto the plate! Then she asked if we want her to make (1) more to replace uncooked one. They finally brought a "new" batch, 20 mins later! We began ordering from Pho 97 in the southlands when we moved to the area in February. Growing up eating Vietnamese food, I was happy with the quality of the food and because the location was so convenient to us, we began ordering from them AT LEAST once a week. We only ate in the restaurant once because the service was slow and the size of the location did not accommodate my family of 6 very well. For months, we had no issues with ordering takeout weekly. Sometimes our food wasn't ready when we arrived to pick it up, but that wasn't a huge deal-a little annoying, but not a deal breaker for us. As time went on, we had more and more issues. We received incorrect orders, were missing items, noodles weren't fully cooked on top of the staff becoming more and more rude. One time, they had put a promotion for 20% off on a sign when I arrived to pick up my order and I asked about it and the girl rolled her eyes at me and said "you did not ask about it when you called." I did not argue, I let it roll off and continued to wait for 25 minutes for my order when I had already been told that it would be ready by the time I had arrived. When I asked if my order was ready, I was told "They're making it now." And the girl walked off. Since I had been in there so often, I spoke to one of the employees that I had seen every time I was there and told him about the girl being rude. He apologized and had the other girl get my food for me right away. When I got my order home, it was missing one part of the order and it looked like everything was dumped in the container. My husband and I assumed there was a change in management because we always substituted one item in one of of our orders the last time I placed an order, we received a return phone call that we could not do that and that we would have to place a new order. When I said it had been a normal order that we had done weekly, the response was very rude. Needless to say, we no longer order from there. read more

Consistency. This place has it. The Pho is always delicious. Atmosphere is nice and casual. It can get loud when busy but not outrageous. The service is great. My favorite local broth. I love going here with my mom! I always get the combo pho or the bun bo hue with spring rolls or papaya salad and a Vietnamese coffee, which I highly recommend. Their beef broth is always consistent and tastes very delicious. My mom always gets the pork chop noodle bowl or chicken rice plate. The manager who works there is very nice, and their service is fast unless it's a busy day/time. The place is clean, and overall atmosphere is also good. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for pho or noodle bowls! It seems like the bad reviews here complain of long waits but on peak days/times of course you are going to have to wait a little bit. Also, I come here a lot and see a fair amount of unreasonable customers - customers trying to take advantage and get free food (well, anywhere, really, not just this restaurant). If you are not satisfied with your food, they will exchange it for you, as they have done for me, but I still pay because that is the right thing to do. In general, I am appalled by people who try to take advantage of the restaurants and refuse to pay for their food (come on people, restaurants make thin margins), (or as I've seen one customer complain that his food wasn't good after gulping the entire thing and then try to not pay). read more

My favorite Pho place is about 30mins away from my house so I have been looking for a closer location to stop into when I'm not up for the drive. This places Pho has decent flavor most times, it does tend to vary. My issue with this place is not the food, it's the staff/management... On one occasion I had the bus girl take my bowl before I was finished, I was to reserved to stop her. She did the same thing to the table next to us but they made a scene and she brought their food back. Thought that was odd, wrote it off as a fluke. Perhaps the don't have enough bowls to accommodate their customers? It was a busy night that night. Recently a friend and I decided last minute that we wanted Pho. We looked them up on the internet and found they close at 10pm on Saturdays. We got in the car and drove down, found a parking spot and walked in. The guy behind the bar just looked at us. So I said, "two please". He's walked over and said, "can I help you?" I asked if we could have a booth. He said that they were only doing to go orders now, they are closing. I looked around, there were others in the restaurant watching us, seated with their food. Embarrassed, we turned around and walked out. Once outside we checked our watches, it was 9:20pm, right on the door it's posted 10pm Saturday's. There seems to be a Pho restaurant on every corner now days. My next bowl will be at my favorite place, or I'll just give another restaurant a try if I'm not up for the drive. Don't plan on going back here. This is the closest pho restaurant to my house and I've become quite a fan. The food is delicious, though as some other reviewers have pointed out, the service is lacking a little. It's a brand new location though, and they're still getting things situated, so I give them a little slack there. The food makes up for it though.....LOVE the noodle bowls. Yum! read more

If I have to go to the bathroom 20 minutes after I eat, I know the food was not cooked right. The broth was so bland, the pho toppings were slightly slimy, and the chicken tasted metallic. They only had Sriracha and hoisin, no chili paste, no salt and pepper. My pho toppings did not have jalapenos and I'm really not used to having red onions in pho. Overall, just avoid this place. The water damage in the ceiling may just be a black mold breeding ground. read more

Last night we went for dinner and I knew something was wrong with my food when my broth was overly greasy and I had mainly tendons instead of regular steak. We asked our server what was in my soup and she said "the kitchen did it wrong, but I brought it out". We had another girl come over and look at the meat and couldn't fully tell me what it was. I have been going to this place the last couple of months since we moved to this area and love going here! Delicious, authentic Vietnamese food, quick service, solid price. I've tried pretty much everything on their menu, and my favorite is the Bun Bo Hue. I highly recommend it! It's a spicy, lemongrass noodle soup....reminds of me of the noodle soup I've had in Vietnam. Their food is always on point. I've never had problems with the service - the service is always quick. Not sure why there are so many complaints. Considering the price of the meals here (about $10 per person), I don't know what people are complaining about with regards to the service. Even when it gets busy, service is still pretty quick...we get our food within 10-20 mins of ordering before hitting the movies. Must stop by if you're in the area! read more

Customer Service stinks. I heard about this Pho place closer to home and decided last night I was going to try it! Me, being a HUGE Pho fan, if this Pho was delicious they would of had a customer for life!! I would be there at least once a week. However, I didn't even get to try the food. They wouldn't seat us. TLDR: Food was terrible, smelled terrible, manager lacks any type of professionalism, was racist, and you will feel robbed eating here save yourself. If there was any possible way of giving negative stars they would have definitely of received - 5. My family spent 58.00 ordering food using grubhub and it was almost two hours late it. (Restaurants fault) When we called the restaurant to see where our food was we spoke to an EXTREMELY rude and unprofessional "manager" named "Amanda". She told us to take her driver's own 10$ and it would be returned to him. That was the best she could do... I did not feel right taking the drivers money so I let him keep it because I knew they probably wouldn't of given it back to him. I immediately called grubhub because by the time the food arrived the restaurant was closed to phone calls, that or they just refused to pick up. They had lied to grubhub and said they gave us half refund which was a lie because my CC was charged the FULL amount. I then called the restaurant and this is when the games began. I asked to speak to the manager and when she answered said "what do you need" I responded with "first I need your name" and she said "you called" and hung up. When I called back they would refuse to give her the phone and when she finally got on the phone she just started losing it on me, she was threatening to call the cops and said that we were scammers and we ate the food and the money is rightfully theirs. She was screaming at the top of her lungs and honestly I couldn't help but not be mad anymore do to just how insane she was speaking on the phone, it was kinda surreal lol. No, no, no. New Ownership and the differences are immediate; for the worse! Ordered delivery but person taking the order hardly understands English. The menu has decreased by a lot and many of our favorite dishes are no longer an option. Minimum order fee went up to $25 from $20. That my broth for my Pho arrived only luke warm was hardly a surprise. What a shame and time to find another favorite place once again.
