I'm not sure why this place has such low ratings other than having curt customer service. My girlfriends and I always hit this spot up before seeing a movie at the Southlands theatre next door. You can't go wrong with the iced Vietnamese coffee nor can you turn down the combination rice place or noodle bowl. The servings are ample, though not hugely generous, the food comes out fast and the service is good. The restaurant is clean and the menu has a variety of Vietnamese dishes as well as fried rice and a couple of Chinese dishes for those unsure what a noodle bowl is. read more

We like to come here or order to pickup from this Vietnamese restaurant a lot. The food are good; very tasty and "clean". The portion is generous, even when you do takeout. I came here looking for pho, but noticed they had ramen available and decided to try that instead. I had the miso ramen with pork belly. For a cold day, it definitely warmed me up and was satisfying although it was not the best ramen I'd ever eaten. The pork belly was a bit chewy and not fall-apart tender as truly excellent pork belly should be. I also got the avocado bubble tea. This bubble tea probably had some of the best tapioca balls I've had, and that is saying something. They were just he right consistency with a just-right chewiness. However, it didn't taste extremely like avocado, possibly due to the addition of whipped cream on top? I would have been happier with more tapioca balls in it as well; I ran out of them about halfway through the drink. The service was also quick; I didn't have to wait long to order my bubble tea and my meal. Overall, I rate this restaurant 3 stars for a satisfying meal. Nothing mind blowing going on, but I still definitely enjoyed myself and had a nice lunch. read more

We are regulars at the other Pho 97 down Smoky Hill and were excited to see that they were opening a new branch in Southlands. It is a shorter drive and it is convenient to movie theater and other shops in mall, which already makes it a winner. This one is a step up in terms of design. It is a really open, bright space with huge floor to ceiling windows, lots of booths & tables and what looks like what will be a full bar (it was empty day 1). They also have nicer glasses, cloth napkins and generally just a classier feel. That is all well and good, but when I go for Pho I am looking for a low key dinner, so all this is a little much for me - nice, but unneeded. But let's move on to the real reason we come, the Pho! Now, I am not sure if it was because they were just opening or what, but we got a free appetizer of pork egg rolls (that is my guess as to what they were), that were very good & super crisp. The Pho followed and the medium seemed like a good size bowl. The broth was flavorful and it was packed with noodles and meatballs (I go for the Pho Bien). Plus the herbs were very fresh and the basil was just huge! When we finished, they brought us out a couple of sesame balls. Now, it was all very nice, but the upscale place and extras seems to translate to extra $$. Heck, it was more expensive than Pho downtown! I mean we aren't talking huge money, but I would rather a simpler experience with the same old low prices. It has a super awesome location and really nice staff, so we will go back. Not my favourite Pho place but it scratched the itch I'd been having since it snowed the other day. It's Wednesday night, date night, and we had 40 minutes before the movie was starting so we should have plenty of time for Pho. We were cutting it close! It wasn't busy but the staff were run off their feet! It took a while for our order to be taken, from walk in to receive food was about 20 minutes or so. And it wasn't the best broth I'd ever had. I do like the handy tubs on the tables with napkins, forks, spoons, straws etc but you have to ask for the chopsticks. read more

Pleasantly surprised at the quality of their Pho. I believe that I got the Pho #3 and it was super fresh and tasty. I have a favorite Pho place (Pho Vy) and I felt kind of like I was cheating on them in going to this place. I ended up here because it is right next to the Southland AMC Theater. If you arrive early to your movie I suggest have a quick bite to eat here instead of indulging in over priced and average food. This food is health, plentiful, and satisfying. So I ordered Penang chicken and the sauce was like water, no thickness whatsoever. It came with a bed of rice noodles that were literally cold like they came out of the refrigerator on a separate plate. When you pour the lukewarm curry over the cold noodles it was still cold. I brought it up to the waiter and he said "they were a little bit hot", exact quote. Then he brought me new noodles that were literally room temperature, not even microwaved!!! So beyond bizarre. And I have never in my life had a dish come with noodles that look like they were the 25-cent Ramen noodles that you get at the store. read more

I didn't know what to eat. My 23 yr old son recommend the Pho Steak Soup. He picked it up while i was at work. So fresh . The mint was still on the stem. Veggies so crisp and vibrant. After an early evening of shopping I was chilly and craving some hot Pho. We stopped in and I was starting to panic because I didn't see Vegetarian Pho Fortunately it's on the back of the menu. Silly me, I thought the small bowl wouldn't be enough so I ordered Veggie Spring rolls. The bowl was the more than what I needed for sure. It comes with a whole lot of different vegetables on the soup and of course the sides. Tonight I needed a bit of heat so I added several dashes of Sriracha and the jalapenos as well. I've never done the jalapenos but it sounded good and it was. I enjoyed my big bowl of soupy happiness. The spring rolls were ok. I'm used to fried ones and these were a pleasant surprise. Now, for service: It seemed like only one guy was serving because we waited 15 minutes before having our drink order taken. Once the drinks came ,food order was taken. Our server was nice and helpful but I'm not sure why he had the majority of tables. Food came quickly though, less than 10 minutes. Surprise! I rate the service 2, our server a 3 because he was busy trying to get everyone served. Maybe it was an off night for this place? Went here for date night Saturday because I had a good experience with a take out spring roll order. Hostess wasn't welcoming and seemed rushed and bothered even though it wasn't busy. She took our order then we waited,and waited,at least we got water( which was never refilled) our appetizer came out with the meal ( finally) o-kay. Crab cheese wonton were delicious, my wife had the shrimp pho which was good,she ordered meatballs on the side,they arrive later lol I had the combo rice bowl, egg roll and shrimp were great,the other meats were dry and plain. Sat and waited for our food for almost an hour. We ordered two pho's and one order of spring rolls. After almost an hour we just asked to pay for our drinks and leave, our server went and got us our Pho immediately, and said she would comp it. We then were brought our bill, not having our pho comped like she told us, and we never got our spring rolls at all. We asked for a new spoon as we accidentally dropped one and never got it, we literally shared a spoon. And I was given the wrong drink. We would've spoken up and said something but nobody came over to us unless we directly flagged them down. Super disappointed overall, we just paid our not comped bill and left. Love this place! I've been there numerous times and it's consistently delicious. I'm a vegetarian and almost always order lemongrass tofu, which isn't actually on the menu, but honestly it's the best lemongrass tofu I've had (which is saying a lot because I've ordered it at many Vietnamese restaurants). They are located near Southlands movie theater in Aurora. They are now open daily and serve lunch from 11am -3pm and dinner from 3pm-9pm. They have lunch prices and dinner prices. I'm not sure if the portions are any different. I've been to the Centennial location on Smoky Hill Rd and the food is just as good. I ordered the Combination Rice Plate which had grilled shrimp, pork, chicken, beef, and a fried egg roll. It came out in less than 10 minutes. I really liked the dipping sauce that came out with the entree. The staff was very friendly and efficient. I grabbed a To Go menu on the way out and there are coupons on the back of the menu. Just know the egg rolls are not authentic... They use different wraps and filling it is equivalent to a Chinese egg roll and as far as I know this place is suppose to be a Vietnamese restaurant hence should have real Vietnamese egg rolls. This new Pho (opened today!) is now the closest Pho to my house so it would have really taken a lot from them for me to not want to come back. They are a 2nd store from the same people who own Pho 97 down the street off of Smoky Hill and Buckley and most of the staff look extremely familiar. The Pho itself tastes about the same and the rest of the experience is about what you'd get at the other one. What really threw me was that a medium bowl of Pho (which was $7.95 at the other Pho and about $7.75 at others) was $9 here. 9 big smackers. Seems really high for Pho to me. Since they are now the closest to me and not on the major intersection like the other one, I'll keep coming back (and probably complain about the price every time). Good pho, good service, good location, high prices. Guess you can't have everything. read more

Pho is phun, we usually always have a phantastic meal. Pho 97 was fine (phine?) for a quick pho fix. They seated us right away, service was fast. We really enjoyed the beef spring rolls. Broth was good, not amazing and not terrible. I will say that for the price (which isn't crazy, but probably more than other pho places) I would have expected more meat. Also, I like spicy food but beware the jalapeños! I dropped one in my soup and within seconds my soup was on the verge of being uncomfortably hot. My fiancé didn't even eat one...he just added aome sprouts that had been touching them and his soup was way too hot - he had the spicy sniffles and everything! I liked the ice tea, he said he doesn't recommend the Arnold Palmer as it was way too sweet. We would probably come back since we now live in the area, however, would come with the above thoughts in mind. Maybe it wasn't phab, but phair enough for a quick meal! read more

This is a gluten-free review, as both my husband and I are allergic to wheat (but don't have celiac). The pho here is pretty decent, but I have been spoiled by really good pho from Southern California. Their pho tai doesn't give me a headache like some can, which is always good in my book. Something in the spice of the broth is really overpowering, though, and I can't put my finger on it. Normally, I finish the entire bowl--including the broth--but on my most recent visit I couldn't do it. I'm hoping it was just a one-off, as it was delicious and piping hot my first visit. Won't be going back. Going to list our issues and everyone can make up their own mind. We got the following: - spring rolls - chicken wings - seafood pho - noodle combo meat plate First of all everything is pre made or pre cooked here. The waiter told this to us when I sent the combo plate back as the chicken was cold. He said we cook the meat earlier (he didn't specify but I think it is the day prior) and then when someone orders it we heat it up and serve. The spring rolls came out immediately so they are pre made as well. Anyone who has made spring rolls from scratch know they take at least 5 minutes or more to make. The chicken wings also came out in about 5 minutes. To me that screams pre-fried and then fried again prior to serving. I'm all for double fried chicken, but it was over cooked when it was served. Now what makes pho great is the broth. It must be cooked all day and made from scratch. The broth for the pho tasted like it came out of a box or can like the ones you can buy at Safeway. Definitely not from scratch. Here's the kicker. I sent the combo noodle back because the chicken was cold. They didn't prepare me a new plate, just took the meat off my plate and heated it up. Not sure about the health implications on that with the pan they may have used to recook food I had eaten from. When it came back it was fine, no longer cold. After a few bites I bit on something that was hard. Thinking it may have been a small bone from the beef I spit it out and it was a 1/2 long piece of wire. Like a wire from a brush used to clean a grill. We told the waiter who then grabbed another waiter to show them. No manager was on duty for me to speak to so we just asked for our check as we didn't want to eat any more of the food which there was a lot left of. The waiter offered to take the combo plate off the bill...how nice of him. And we didn't get an apology or an explanation or anything. When we mentioned the apology the waiter then apologized. So, that's our experience. From the other reviews here it seems most people are ok with the food. I say find a place that makes pho from scratch and actually cooks their food after you order it. If you do, I don't believe you'll come back to this place. read more
