One of the best pho we've ever had, opened late which was definitely a plus. We order 2 different pho, amazing tasting broth, meat was fresh, delicious. Was feeling like something warm and soupy on a cold winter day so stopped by here with some friends! We settled on an order of spring rolls and a bowl of pho. The spring rolls were loosely wrapped and fell apart as soon as we picked them up. I would've liked more seafood and meat on the inside as well, as it was majority vermicelli noodles. Let me start off by saying presentation wise everything was beautiful, and the eyes eat first so I feel like it's important to mention and recognize. That being said the spring rolls looked really nice, however upon biting in they did not offer much filling and were very loosely rolled they quickly fell apart. The peanut sauce was super runny so we weren't much of a fan of that. The pho again was presented really nicely loved the green onion, broth was pretty rich but the meat while plentiful did not taste too good personally.The service was great but overall was not that impressed with Pho #1, would honestly not return. read more

I got the #4 pho! The place has pho in one-size and the portions were surprisingly not too small! Pho was delicious! And the broth was nice. The only odd thing was this place didn't have sriracha and oyster sauce by the table (possibly due to the sriracha shortage) The service was quick, we went in at 6pm and were the only customers there for a bit and the pho came out in a couple minutes after we ordered. read more

Decent pho!! I felt like $17 for a beef combo pho was pretty cheap/fair! The restaurant was clean and the waiters were attentive. It looked like their cotton candy machine was turned off or down, which was said because I wanted some cotton candy. I like my pho with more condiments than just Siracha and Hosin. So I wish there was at least chili oil but there wasn't. All in all decent! read more

Pho#1's beef broth (#4 steak with lean briskets) was delicious. The anise was not overpowering. I normally get chicken because some pho have overpowering flavor. But this place got their broth just right. Their portions was also good and the noodle was al dente which I love because the noodles were not smooshy. I also like the fact that they have a good chili paste sauce. The place was clean and the restroom smelled great. Thank you for keeping the place neat and tidy for the customers. This was my first time in Sunnyvale neighborhood and I am glad I went to this place. So far Pho#1 is truly number one for me in Sunnyvale. My partner and I came for dinner on a hot day; it was not busy at all! We had the whole restaurant to ourselves and while we got our food, people were trickling in. Sore throat and wanted soup, so we decided to get pho! We were happy that it was a normal bowl of pho that satisfied our soup craving. The spring roll was ok. Checked out Pho #1 in Sunnyvale earlier this week with the coworkers, and here's the lowdown. First off, location-wise, it's a breeze - nestled in a shopping center with plenty of parking, always a plus. We hit it up for lunch, and it was surprisingly half full during the mid-week lunch hour, so you know it's got some local love. We kicked things off with the A1 Egg Rolls and A4 Fried Wonton for the table. Decent start, nothing to write home about, but hey, it set the mood. Now, onto the main event - the Pho #1 Beef Pho Combo. I went sans Tendon because, well, the menu warned about short cow's hair, and I'm still wrapping my head around that one. To wash it all down, I intended to get the Thai Tea but ended up ordering the Vietnamese Iced Coffee by accident. Panic mode set in, but oh boy, it turned out to be a dark, strong delight. Sooooo good! My coworkers ventured into other corners of the menu, but alas, no taste tests for me. Overall verdict? Pho #1 is pretty decent, but it's not doing the siren call to bring me back anytime soon. It scratches the Vietnamese food itch in Sunnyvale, but the "wow" factor is a bit MIA for me. read more

I finally checked out Pho #1 after hearing a few friends rave about it -- and it definitely lives up to the name. The pho broth is deep, flavorful, and super comforting. You can tell they put time into it; it has that slow-simmered richness without being greasy or overly salty. I ordered the pho tai chin (rare steak and brisket), and everything was fresh and perfectly cooked. The noodles had the right texture, and the plate of herbs -- basil, bean sprouts, lime, and jalapeños -- was crisp and plentiful. Today I went to pho #1. But was it really #1? Here's the breakdown: I got a large beef pho with tendon and rare steak. Broth: 8/10. Definitely Americanized but hearty and delicious Noodles: 7/10 too thin for my liking but quantity a++ Meat: 7/10 lots of tendon but there could be more rare steak. Overall generous Bean sprouts: 6/10 left me wanting much much more Basil/lime/pepper: 10/10 fresh Atmosphere: 8/10 quiet but bustling. It looks like they recently renovated. Lots of bright colors. Staff: 10/10 attentive and friendly Cleanliness: 8/10 it looks fresh and they clean the tables quickly. Knocking it down 1 point because I spy a fly on my table right now. Paying: 4/10 they charge 0.50 for splitting the bill and .50 for a to-go container, so bring your own container. So is this #1? Only you can tell. read more

my family love this place so much. We usually hang out every two week to celebrate the gathering time. The service is fast, friendly and caring for customers even the rushing time. We love the fresh, natural sweet of beef broth as well as the bunch of meet in Pho combination 1. Besides, the appetizers with fried tofu is my highly recommended with crunchy outside but soft inside. You can not skip the grilled chicken fresh spring roll with the grilled marinated chicken used with the peanut sauce. This place reminded me a lot of vietnam' traditional foods which my family used to taste in vietnam before. read more

I went with 3 small kiddos:5,3,1. I would said the rest is family friendly. The space between tables has good space to breath. I would said the waitress is supper nice. My kid splashed water on the table and floor; she was happy clean it and told me it is okay. Accident is happened. I would said her attitudes is supper. Let talk about food. I would highly recommend that pho's lover should forget the others places and satisfy your appetite here. Pros : Everything. Like literally everything is great.Enthusiastic staffs with lots of smiles!!!!!, huge portion of each order with reasonable price ( THEY ACEPT CARD- this is what satisfy me most). My husband and I tried out their Pho #1 bowl and special vermicelli bowl. First their broth of Pho is great. It is fresh and rich. I bet they cook a lot of bone to get the rich broth like that. My husband tried their vermicelli bowl with shrimps, grill pork and egg roll. It is awesome. The presentation is nice and it tastes good also. I would recommend the place. I'm so glad I found this pho place! I ordered the Snake River Kobe steak, and it was delicious. The meat was marbled, and the noodles were fresh and had a great texture. San Jose alone is home to close to 150,000 Vietnamese residents, the largest Vietnamese population of any city outside Vietnam. That influence extends throughout Santa Clara County and the surrounding Silicon Valley area. There's no shortage of Vietnamese restaurants, Chinese noodle shops, and ramen joints here, but many of them are in shiny new developments with equally shiny prices. I don't believe in bougie noodle soup. And if I had to fight for parking again today, there was going to be a problem. Pho Nam in Sunnyvale, just a stone's throw from some of the most valuable tech companies on the planet, sits in an old, beat-up strip mall with a 7-Eleven, a liquor store, and a seedy sports bar. Inside, it looks like a pho restaurant preserved from another era: green vinyl chairs, fluorescent lights, patterned tile floors, floral plates, and a glowing neon NAM sign behind the counter. Pure utilitarian noodle shop. Nothing designed for Instagram. I ordered the cha gio and a small rare beef pho. The beef came thinly sliced on a separate plate so I could add it to the steaming broth myself. The egg rolls were crisp and generously packed with glass noodles, dried mushrooms, and carrots, giving the filling a pleasant sweetness. The pho was exactly what I needed: clear but deeply flavored beef-bone broth, aromatic with warm spices, then amplified with jalapeños, bean sprouts, lime, and fragrant purple Thai basil. No reinvention. No luxury toppings. No $28 bowl of wellness theater. Just restorative broth in a beat-up strip mall. Perfect.
