I can tell this location does a lot of business, so be prepared to wait. However, it's refreshing to see that they do so with inclusivity and a smile. I got the Philz Wonderbar with oat milk. You have to wait a sec while they make it, but it's worth it. They also have suggestions of favorites if you are looking for a more complicated drink. But the food and drink are yummy, so I guess that's how they get away with it. Bacon Onion Cheese Pretzel Croissant: Tastes more like a croissant than a pretzel, with only a slight pretzel-y taste on the outside. Though a lot going on in this croissant! The browned cheese tastes great. And bacon is always welcome in anything. A very solid breakfast choice. Pork Sausage & Egg Burrito: I appreciated that the burrito was moist inside. Lots of melted cheese and maybe some sauce, though can't be sure. The potatoes tasted freshly cut and cooked. The sausage was in big chunks and full of flavor. Only downside is that it was kinda small, like 1/3 the size of a breakfast burrito you could get at a taqueria. Mocha Tesora: A lot going on in this coffee! A pretty nice dark roast mixed with actual chocolate syrup, for an intense drink. Not perfectly mixed, so a little bit sweeter when you're almost done with it. Perfect if you want both a caffeine buzz and a sugar jolt. Though could be overwhelming if you pair it with a sweet pastry. Honey Haze: Got the default, which used oat milk. Which is kinda weird in concept since there's honey in this drink, so it's already not vegan. It tasted a little lighter than regular iced coffee, but oddly still creamy. Better than soy milk or almond milk for sure. Though next time I may go with the regular cow milk. The coffee itself wasn't too sweet and kind of a light roast. First time at this Philz and it gets the job done. Lots of foot traffic especially during lunchtime, so I can see why their waiting area is larger than their seating areas. But, maybe this is set up that way because it's more of a commuter coffee spot than chill and hang. Albeit great hip hop music was playing, the music was so loud and couldn't think but more so bust a move! My go to coffee is the philtered soul houseway - very creamy and very sweet - but this time it was made less sweet and had more of a coffee taste which I was good with. Poor customer service experience. I was in the restroom when they called my order. Upon returning to pick up my coffee, I looked around trying to locate it. A barista with curly hair noticed me searching and asked 'Can I help you?' with a dismissive tone. When I inquired if a particular drink was mine, they responded curtly with 'I called that out a while ago.' This response was unnecessary. My sis said they are know for their iced peppermint coffee. Sadly which I did not take a pic of. Now... I generally only drink hot coffee. Even in the middle of a hot day in Hawaii. Philz is one of my favorite coffee places to go to, and I'm always lucky to have it nearby my workplace. I tend to order through the app for mobile pick-up, and they always have my order early or on time. This is located near Market street between the First Republic Bank - it's just right around the corner. Typically now with DTSF, there aren't many people working in the office due to WFH, but you can always see Philz being crowded! I have to say that if you're not used to drinking coffee, this coffee is pretty strong and will get you wired. I absolutely love the taste of their coffee and appreciate that there are different roasts + specialty drinks they have on their menu. If you're not a coffee person, there is tea as well! My favorite go-to orders are the Philtered Soul, Ecstatic Iced Coffee, and Dancing Water. Due to an issue with their factory right now, they won't have all of your favorites available. Coffee ranges from $4-6 depending on what you get, as well as the pastries here too. The only con I have is that they shortened their food options too - they got rid of the quiche and power bowls that they used to have. Mobile pick up service is one of the best ideas ever! As a commuter between two transit systems, it's nice to have a Philz conveniently located between both. I place my order ahead, hop off to retrieve it and hop right back on transit to continue my commute. This Philz location is conveniently located less than half a block from the first 38/38R stop from Salesforce Transit. The bus runs every 6 min so my wait is minimal for the next bus and zero wait for my coffee since it's ready when I arrive. My cup of joe is always hot, fresh and exactly how I requested it. I don't have anything bad to say about Philz. I love the coffee and the people are always friendly in my experience. The app is great and lets you customize your drink AND schedule the time you're planning to be there. Combine that with Citymapper and you can make a great estimate of your arrival time to have hot and fresh coffee waiting for you when you arrive. I don't think there's a hot coffee on the menu that I don't like... and they've got everything from dark to light roasts. If you're trying to decide, they're usually very helpful and ask what you usually enjoy in order to make a suggestion. Typically, start with Tesora as a middle ground and add cream/sugar according to your tastes. Then move darker/lighter blends, sweeter/creamier or different sweetness and milk options. If you like chocolate, the mocha Tesora is quite good. And, the Gingersnap is good if you like iced coffee. Note: no espresso drinks here: it is ALL brewed coffee... brewed one cup at a time and awesome. read more

However you will find what is not unique to my experience is their STELLAR attitudes and friendliness, service comes first to them and it shows. If you've been to Philz before, this is a very solid location. Very clean, usually busy, with friendly staff. Definitely try to Philtered Soul if you haven't already! It's in the middle of the Financial District, pretty close to the Montgomery BART stop, which is the one I use to get to work every day. The only thing I would warn about this location is the time it takes to make your drink. This is a very popular Philz location, and there are always a lot of people around ordering and online ordering. i would recommend ordering through the app at least 10 minutes before you intend on getting there, to get your coffee in a timely manner. I have sometimes waited upwards of 15 minutes. This is understandable due to the amount of customers, but definitely something you should be aware of. read more

I first experienced Philz in LA over a year ago and was super stoked to get it again on a trip to SF to see a Charles P. Thompson lecture. We almost missed it on this trip because my gf got it mixed up with the lesser misspelled P-named coffee shop, Peets. Thankfully, we were in this area the next day and got a chance to swing by before breakfast in Chinatown. I had the Ambrosia, Coffee of the Gods during this visit and it was just what I needed. Unlike Peets, customers do not order at the register instead are greeted by a welcoming barista who can steer customers through their expansive menu suggesting specialty drinks and customized beverages. Fresh beans are then ground while waiting. There are no condiment stand(s) with cocoa powder, triple milk options or sweeteners as Philz staff mixes all behind the counter. Contactless until required payment. For those who are time-sensitive commuters, there is a Philz app for speedy service as the app stores favorite drinks and photos of baristas. Upon arrival, there is an alphabetical pickup station for reserved orders. Be alert as single orders can get lost and jumbled amid larger group orders. The following three purchases below were from two different visits to this location. 1) Blueberry Scone. Crisp buttery lemony exterior with jammy blueberries. Light, soft center. Tender crumb not brittle dry. Touch of cinnamon sugar topping. Pastry perfection. 2) Ice Mint Mojito. Muddled fresh mint served the "house way" sweet and creamy. Strong minty mouthwash feel as mint leaves masked it's medium-bodied coffee (Ecstatic Beans) flavor. I counted 8 big sprigs of mint still attached by its stems in my small (12oz) cup. Poorly prepared by an unseasoned barista. 3) Tantalizing Turkish (not pictured). Bold as in compressed espresso with strong bitter notes. Intensely rich as subtle notes of cardamom remains after each sip. Wonderful in its beautiful dark blend, my go-to favorite is medium honey with medium cream! I come for a unique experience and appreciate quality as each location has a strong WiFi that allows me to linger and savor each sip one-cup-at-a-time. Vaccination proof required. read more

Convenient location, decently large interior though not that much seating. I imagine it is mostly a grab & go place. Staff was patient and friendly. Bathroom requires a code, ask a staff member to get it. They had a snarky sign out front saying "come in and try our new pumpkin spice latte, just kidding, get our winter bliss", which made me laugh. I stopped by the other day for a afternoon pick me up after my lunch and it's probably my fault for not checking my order and for asking for too much but I ordered a medium ecstatic, extra sweet and creamy, light ice, with honey drizzle on top. I was given an ecstatic with no cream and medium honey. I also should have taken a sip of it right away because I was already on my way back to work when I tried it and noticed it wasn't the correct order. Decided to take ol' Philz for a spin today and am seriously impressed by my experience! Located in the heart of SF's FiDi ( the millennial term for Financial District) - it's a happening little joint with food options as well including my fave Avocado Toast. Yum! I asked the friendly hipster at the counter what her recommendation was between the Chai & another tea called Istanbul Treat, she said the latter was her favorite. Be prepared to also get asked what level of sweetness and how much cream you like. They definitely cater to everyone's personal preferences, so you can be assured you get exactly what you order! Liked the playful candor between the hard working employees as well. You can see the teamwork and service with a smile which is clearly very important here! Back to our orders. My friend ordered the iced Mocha Tesora which was to DIE for ... perfect balance of chocolate with the quality coffee beans they use. Quite delicious, think I'll order that next time!
