This Philz Coffee is right by my home, and I've been coming here since they opened. I even had the chance to meet Phil at their grand opening. I usually enjoy their pastries, and the staff is always helpful. It's a great place to get some work done on your computer or just relax and enjoy your coffee. I also like getting their Too Good To Go deals, and today I picked up four pastries: a Dubai chocolate croissant, a chocolate chip cookie croissant, a butter croissant, and a blueberry muffin. Such a great deal, and everything tasted delicious! Definitely check this place out when you're in the area.
I was curious to see this Southern California franchise of Philz. As in most Pasadena venues, parking isn't free. Unlike other Philz sites with mostly the floor space in the form of a square, this site is a uniquelly physically "linear" branch, the floor space being like an elongated rectangular area forming one straight line from both end entrances. They also have outdoor sitting. With it's welcoming yellow doors and exterior color concept, its bright and tastefully designed interiors, it easily draws one in to come in and visit, and even stay for a while. It was quiet and relaxing inside, in contrast to the vibrant colors and bright lighting. Tantalizing Turkish, which I regularly order from any Philz I go to, wasn't on their menu board but the kind and friendly cashier stated they do have it. Aside from the cashier, there seemed to be only one more staff - the one who made your ordered coffee. This one didn't seem friendly at all. I didn't mind her lack of congeniality, I was more bothered about her lack of food service hygiene. She had just wiped coffee spill off the counter (where she presents the finished coffee to the customer) with a rag. One could easily guess how often that rag must have been used already, and how moist that rag must be... When I asked for a cover for my cup of coffee, she immediately plopped a plastic cover face down on the same counter where that rag passed. I just asked for another cover instead and quietly requested her to not put it on the counter but just hand it to me. Staff in all branches should really receive training on how to hand over covers for cups to customers. Not all coffee baristas are equal, some really make delicious coffee while some just make it so-so. While I do get good-tasting Tantalizing Turkish coffee from the regular Philz I go to, the one I ordered from this branch just didn't make the cut. All in all, it was still a good experience. At least their interior and exterior design is a hit.
COVID-19: Social distancing is not enforced at this establishment. Some of the staff wears a mask. All customers are not expected to wear a mask. It's optional now. The staff also wears gloves when handling food. There are some hand sanitizers available for customers to use. This place is available for take outs and has some indoor & outdoor seating available with no limited capacity. They are not sanitizing in between customers. COVID-19 Vaccination Proof: This establishment currently does not require proof of vaccination. While I was grabbing my food from this establishment several days ago, I asked if they had any special offers and they weren't offering any at the moment. They currently don't have happy hour. They also do not allow pets in their establishment UNLESS it's a service animal. Parking: The parking lot for this establishment is located behind the building. It's a parking garage. You have to pay for parking UNLESS you can find street parking. Food: I ordered a bacon and egg burrito because I forgot to bring food to work. Paying $9 for a bland burrito with no sauce was pathetic. That's why I decided to remove two stars. One star for the ridiculous price for the small burrito. One star for the blandness of the burrito. The bacon wasn't even crunchy. The eggs had no taste to it at all. Bland. Terrible! The redeeming factor was the staff. The staff made me give this place 3 stars. Staff: The staff here are very friendly, nice, and fast. They accept both cash and credit cards. There is no credit card minimum.
First time at the Philz! We'd come here all the time if we lived closer! Just spent a fun time browsing and shopping at Vroman's bookstore, and felt like we needed a pick-me-up so this coffee shop within walking distance was perfect! Brightly lit indoors and lots of patio seating too. Friendly staff! The chairs are really comfortable. We ordered one hot Ether and iced Ecstatic, both with dark chocolate richness. Looks like based on other Yelp reviews that I'll have to try the Mint Mojito next time!
Always made to perfection! Iced tesora with light cream and light sugar. One of my favorite locations of Philz. Service is quick and my drink is always made spot on. I love the outdoor patio this location has. Offing the perfect setup to catch up with friends while getting some vitamin c on my face too.
What We Ordered: -Mint Mojito $7.15 -Gingersnap Coffee $7.15 Stephanie was very friendly and attentive, offering helpful recommendations since it was my first time there. I ordered an Iced Mint Mojito, which was amazing - unlike any other coffee I've had. As a mint lover, I absolutely enjoyed the flavor! I also got a Gingersnap coffee for my wife, who prefers hot drinks; she thought it was a bit too sweet, but I really liked the holiday-season flavor, reminding me of warm sweaters and the holidays. I'd definitely return to Philz to try other drinks, but I'd prefer to visit a location with better parking, as there's no street parking nearby and they don't validate. I'll definitely be visiting other Philz locations in the future!
Always love Philz and I always come back!! My go to is the Honey Haze, it's light, mellow, and refreshing but still has a great coffee flavor. Today I tried the new tiramisu sweet and creamy and it's a great new holiday flavor but I think I would get it less sweet next time. The cocoa powder on the top was perfect and I would get it again. The cafe itself has lots of seating, outlets, and WiFi making it a great place to get some work done. I've spent all day here before working remotely and love that the outlets are so convenient and WiFi is strong. Would def recommend coming here and the baristas are always so great as well!
Good quality coffee. I got Gingersnap, but I don't know how much it was since my friend paid for it and it doesn't say on their menu. It was good. I got it hot and medium sweet. Nice tables for studying and place to chill and hang out with friends. For studying, there aren't a lot of outlets for your electronics. Parking is free on Sunday. Restroom for males and females. Clean place.
One of my go-to study cafe spots! It's crowded on the weekends but not-so much on the weekdays. I came on Monday morning for a couple of hours and there was plenty of seating available. I love their hot foods and sandwiches but imo the baked goods you can skip. The croissant is a solid 7/10 . Nice ambiance and friendly servers. Usually I rotated between the mint mojito, cold brew, mocha tesora, and rose cold brew! You can't really go wrong with these & I always ask for less sweet for the mocha tesora. Parking on Cordova for 90 minutes free (I always stay for longer than that and have never gotten a ticket, but park at your own risk)!
I would only go to Philz for one drink which is the Mint Mojito and I always ask for sweet and creamy. It's my favorite drink from Philz that is sweet and tasty. It can get pretty busy at times so I recommend ordering on the app ahead. The staff are usually really friendlly and asking if I am ok with my drink.

I was in the area with a long night ahead and 3 weeks without coffee so, naturally, I thought, "I'm going to spoil myself today with my first cup of Philz Coffee!" Being my first visit, I ordered the Iced Mint Mojito with less cream and sweetness. The barista was kind enough to let me taste it first to ensure it was to my liking and, sure enough, it was pure bliss! LOVE. AT. FIRST. SIP! Mmm! I now know why Philz Coffee is ranked so high and one sip was all it took for me! I also ordered a Hummus Tomato Toast that was delicious! The crunch from the toast, creamy earthiness from the hummus, and the freshness from sliced tomatoes topped with feta cheese came together wonderfully that I had to recreate it at home! Besides the taste of their coffee and toast, they really have excellent service! While waiting for my coffee, I watched how staff handled transaction after transaction with each guest. Friendly and easygoing! I decided to pick up a pack of their Tesora whole coffee beans so I can have my fill of Philz at home! I have yet to try it. I particularly liked this Philz Coffee location at The Commons. It's so charming and definitely right up my alley! I heard they make very good coffee and its popular in San Fran. My sister convinced me to check out this great coffee shop on a Saturday afternoon in October. So we walked from Urban Plates to Philz Coffee. The coffee shop is easy to find since it's behind William Sonoma store. We went inside and it's buzzy with people waiting for their coffee. After reading the reviews on yelp, mint mojito coffee is very popular. Our barista was nice and friendly and my sister ordered a large size a mint mojito. Then we went to pay at the cashier, next we wait for the barista to make it. It was fun to see the barista make the coffee with hands in the air. The large size is different to Starbucks venti size instead it is equal to Starbucks tall size. The coffee has a strong mint flavor of a dark roast and creamy foam. It's always a pleasure to study at Philz. This location has a big communal table with lots of laptops open and sounds of typing. There are outdoor seats as well. It's a bit small but as crowded as it gets, I haven't had too much trouble finding a seat. After ordering or waiting a few minutes, something usually opens up. There is some artwork on the wall, 2 clean bathrooms, and awesome drinks! My favorite is the mint mojito but their chai tea and Ethiopian coffee (decaf) with the works (cream) is delicious as well. I haven't tried their whole menu but I want to. The baristas are super friendly and you get to taste the drink before you officially take it away. read more

I can't believe this is my 1st time here! I absolutely loved this place & will be back. I ordered the Mojito coffee. Something I've never tasted before & it was just as good as it sounds. My sister in law order the rose coffee & that was very lovely too. My party of 3 all ordered Breakfast Burrito & they were very tasty. I'm huge on flavor & they did not miss. I went to this location recently and was impressed with their friendly service and high quality coffee. The interior has high ceilings and a lot of tables where people can relax or do work on their computers while enjoying excellent beverages. The ambience is mellow and welcoming. Philz Coffee is such a hidden gem in Pasadena Lake District. It's located at a cute plaza, behind Williams Sonoma and Lemonade. We ordered one Philtered soul and iced mint mojito, SO good! Okay for starters I DoorDashed my food. The tesora coffee is great and rich. The dark chocolate is unbelievably delicious. Now the breakfast burrito was a joke and overpriced skinny little thing. The quality of the coffee is quite good. Seems like each cup is made individually, made to order. It does take a little while longer than expected but it's worth the slightly longer wait. The staff was pleasant. The Philtered Soul medium blend coffee was pretty good. The hazelnut and chocolate comes through in a very toasty way. Mint Mojito iced coffee was excellent. Just the right amount of mint and creaminess. An impressive concoction. Very refreshing especially on a hot day. There are benches to sit at outside in a cute courtyard. Just beware of the mosquitos/bugs that bite at night. Would definitely return for that Mint Mojito and to see what other kinds of cool drinks they create here. read more
Summary: I haven't had their coffee, but great breakfast options. Real standout is the staff. I want to be their friend. And hangout with them. Or go to them when I'm depressed. A+ people. This place is hidden away in a little courtyard. I went twice this week, early, for a post-workout breakfast bowl. I got a bowl with eggs, cucumbers, avocado and spicy hummus. It was great - it's displayed on their counter, and was made fresh-to-order. I'd recommend this as a study spot, or a spot for great coffee. They looked like they had a super expansive selection. philz is a classic!! the drinks are so fire. my go-tos are honey haze, ecstatic, and mint mojito (all creamy & half sweet). it was pretty busy when i went, but i still managed to get a bar seat. also bring a jacket, philz is always so cold. there is lots of paid parking in lots in the back, but if you're lucky you can get street parking. read more

I usually have Philz almost every morning before work, and the Philz Coffee app makes it so effortless! All I do is place my order on the app, and it's waiting for me 10 minutes later on the counter. I'm sad that they don't have a rewards program, because I would probably be at the highest tier right now lol. The baristas at this location are always friendly and know how to make my coffee to my liking. I definitely prefer Philz over Starbucks. There's just something about that creamy cream! My favorites here are the iced coffee rosé and philtered soul cold brew. read more

Dishonest! They have a sign next to their specialty drinks for small medium and large. I got changed a dollar more and when I asked why, they said you ordered a specialty drink that's a dollar more. I said then why you have the prices next to those drinks? They knew what they were doing and when I suggested to put the correct prices up, she responded with a dismissive laugh. No dough they are a fraud. We get it, these are hard times but taking advantage of your customers is not the right way. read more
Philz Coffee is popping up everywhere and it never fails to be a hit. Parking can be a pain depending on the time you go -- you can either attempt to find street parking or pay for the structure right on the block ($1 for 15-20 min). The line can get pretty long when the nearby Soul Cycle classes are released, so don't hesitate to get a drink when the store isn't busy! I can never remember the ordering system for Philz, so I'm always confused. You have to wait in line and then order with a barista. After ordering your drink, you proceed to the cashier to pay, then pick up your drink after the barista calls it. The layout of this store is a little confusing because the cashier is in the back of the store, past the baristas, so you're just walking back and forth to order, pay, then pick up. Drinks are still good though! I always get the Mint Mojito and my barista made it perfectly. Don't forget to stir! read more
MINT MOJITO. SO GOODDDDD. Just as good as the ones at the other locations. Service is super friendly and they are so accommodating. They even have decaf/ half caffeine options for people like me who can't drink too much caffeine (or shouldn't drink any). :) Drinks are pricey with a small mint mojito being $4.50, but worth it!!! I wish there was a Philz closer to me! There is parking in the structure behind this place (if you're lazy to walk like me), but its $1 per 20 minutes (booo). read more
I've only ordered the ice Mont Mojito coffee house style with cream cuz whenever I go it's to satisfy my mojito craving, so I have no experience with other flavors, blends or delicious pastries which I will sample after I drop the holiday poundage :). Also offered in hot, its simply not the same as the crisp and refreshing iced version. Staff is always super friendly and efficient. Parking in the back can be a challenge as green curbside parking is often occupied so best to park on Lake. There is indoor seating which is often occupied by peeps working on their laptop, and limited outdoor covered seating as well. I have never been to Philz Coffee until recently and I was not disappointed! I always heard my friends talk about Philz and I ordered their Mint Mojito based on their recommendations. They weren't wrong because that drink is delicious! Definitely my go-to. I really enjoy how light and refreshing it is. I love that drink a lot that I'm not sure I would order anything else haha! We also ordered one of their avocado toasts and that tasted yummy as well, especially with some Tapatio! I'll for sure be back to order more of Philz Coffee at their various locations! Yum! This place is really good and also lived up to the hype. I wanted to try it in downtown Chicago but never got the chance. They're located all over LA which is great. The line was pretty long, but everyone said to wait because the coffee was worth it. They weren't wrong. I got the mint mojito iced coffee and it was delicious! So refreshing and not too sweet either. It was perfect for the LA heat. The employees are so nice and accommodating as well. They literally ask you a million questions before they make your cup of coffee because they want to make sure you like it. And if you don't like your drink they let you try a sip and will remake your drink for you. Was so happy with the service and my drink. Houston needs a Philz! read more

Bangin. I guess being out of SoCal has caught up with me. From my understanding when I was living in CA 2 years ago, Philz Coffee was only a thing of the NoCal peeps. But my oh my, I don't mind if I do. Ended up stopping by here with the sister in law to grab coffee and catch up. Not a bad place to hang. Service is pretty streamlined even though the line was backed up to the entrance. Wait in line for one of four baristas to call you over, place your order, pay, then wait for your barista to make your drink, and enjoy. Probably 5 minutes waiting time total or less. Awesome. What'd I get? I'm a pretty huge fan of iced coffee and enjoying this warm sunny CA weather it only seemed right to go iced. Mint Mojito iced coffee sounded delicious so I went with that. Overall very unique and nice light and non over powering mint flavors. Very refreshing! Talk about taking iced coffee to the next level. Price point? You're looking at $3.50 for regular and $4.50 for a large size. Plenty of different coffee options to choose from and even beans by the pound if you need some for home. I dig it. Would I come back? God I love this place, obviously the coffee itself is AMAZING but the workers there are even more so !! I just ordered a DoorDash from them and didn't know how to order their secret menu item so I just chose a random coffee on the menu and wrote a special instruction for it but when I got it delivered, there was a note inside of the cardboard box which had instruction on how to order it next time so I don't overpay absolutely made my day that they would be this considerate read more

Every specialty coffee I had here did not disappoint. I was so thrilled when they opened in Pasadena. No more treks to downtown just to get my Philz fix. A few of my faves: (1) Mint Mojito iced coffee - sounds weird but oh so yummy and refreshing. I can drink two in one sitting (2) Gingersnap latte - always order this during the holidays. Always puts me in the holiday spirit (3) Ecstatic iced coffee - my current favorite. I always get it medium sweet and never disappoints (4) Blue Jamaican - holy smokes! Stoked that they serve this here. Drink it black, this coffee goodness is perfection by itself. Service is good. I always use the OrderAhead app so I never really have the opportunity to mingle and talk to some of the crew. I really should make more of an effort to get to know them when I have more time since they make my drinks oh so good. It is located on same location as Lemonade, Sugarfish, and SoulCycle. You can have coffee, workout, and then eat or have a smoothie at one spot. Parking is street. read more
I'm so glad Philz Coffee expanded into So Cal. For the longest time, I could only get my mint mojito fix in San Francisco. I had some trouble finding this location because I couldn't see it when I drove down S Lake Ave. and the signage was small. I ended up parking my car on the street and walking back to S Lake Ave into that plaza with William Sonoma and Lemonade. Philz Coffee is on the other side of the plaza on Shoppers Ln. across from The Counter. Like all Philz Coffees, the inside of the shop has the same layout. I like Philz because the baristas don't make you feel intimidated when you order your drink. I only get Philz twice a year so I don't remember how to order. I just know I want the mint mojito. There were lots of tables and chairs inside but all of them were occupied. Everyone in there was on a laptop. There was outdoor seating but it was 90 degrees so I took my mint mojito to go. Stopped by for a quick mint mojito. Parking was difficult to find but there's limited street parking (not free). The store itself was spacious and the atmosphere is great for working, reading, or studying. Great for an afternoon break! Edit: Manager reached out to let me know that "the parking lot on Cordova and Lake is free for 90 minutes and there is free 2 hour street parking on several of the neighborhood streets." Will definitely keep this is mind the next time I visit! read more
