Small Ecstatic roast
Pawel S.

First time tried their coffee at this location. Had small ecstatic dark roast. Very smooth!!

First time at this location, my winter bliss flavored coffee and ham & cheese sandwich was on point. Coffee was not too sweet, just wished I could have tasted the flavor more richly. Server was prompt and courteous. It was quiet with soft music in the background. Very spacious. Seats and tables were comfortable. Restroom was clean. Thank you for putting a smile on my face today

Been my go-to coffee since 2017 and I'm glad they allowed us to do the ordering on the app and easy pick up during Covid. They're sticking true to their specialties and not giving into the trendy drinks, which I love that they do. The ambiance is chill and nice art in the corner with plenty of seating indoors and out. I love how relaxed the vibe is here. I come here to do work sometimes on my laptop and have a delicious coffee in hand. Looking forward to supporting them for years to come.

Love Philz but this location is terrible! Rude service, people that hate their job and have attitudes. Make you feel bad to ask to adjust the coffee to be a little sweeter. Most Philz ask you if your happy not tell you your order is done rudely and act mad that you ask to add some sugar (tasted like none was added and i asked for sweet and creamy) very unhappy with this location

Excellent cold brew with cream & sugar. Top tier. Highly recommend. Will return soon. Nice cups too. Great service in an amazing neighborhood

Great coffee individually brewed for each order. You need to wait for at least 10 mins to get yours done. And it's totally worth it. PhilZ started up in the Bay Area and has been a sensation since. Glad they found their spot in Encinitas. Each of the location has its local look & feel. They are also huge in supporting local economy. As Philz says- they are in "people" (and not coffee) business! Side note- Plenty of parking and seating options available.

Been coming here for years. I love their coffees. Our regular flavors are Philtered Soul and Philharmonic. We alternate between hot and iced versions of these flavors. Although I do try others from time to time, I LOVE Philharmonic!

It was one of those days where we needed an extra pick me upper, and most of the local coffee shops were closed. We decided to stop by Philz's. The baristas at the counter were very friendly. The coffee was a bit on the weaker side, but still good. We ordered the Tantalizingly Turkish from the bold and bittersweet section, but it wasn't bold at all. Tasted more like a breakfast blend. There was a hint of cardamom flavor. We also got the Iced Gingersnap. This one was actually stronger in coffee flavor. The drink was good and tasted like autumn in a cup! Not the prettiest or coziest coffee house, but it satisfied the coffee craving.

Beautiful outdoor area to sit and enjoy or walk it to the beach! I got a seasonal coffee but also enjoy just the regular hot and cold coffee. Quick service and cute inside shop. Highly recommend, conveniently located right on the 101

Interesting ................... Philz Coffee: hold the latte. This is a pour-over coffee restaurant. No lattes are made here. They are a true coffee shop (check out their coffee menu). On their website they have a section dedicated to sustainability and responsible sourcing, and their steps over the years for maintaining their coffee ethics. I liked the coffee I selected. Also more interesting, was that they recommended that I taste it before I left the counter. If I didn't like it, they'd adjust it for me - again interesting ............... The food selection is limited but the varieties of coffees aren't, and they'd like me to have it my way - interesting.

Came to Philz Coffee in Encinitas for the first time a few days ago. Tried their Minit Mojito which has been getting rave reviews on Yelp and YouTube. I can honestly say the reviews are spot on. Decided to go for a large creamy and sweet Mint Mojito. I enjoyed the drink so much that I took my time and savored each and every sip. It was rich and flavorful and the mint was so nice. After finishing the cup two hours later, I noticed the ample amount of mint that was at the bottom of the cup. You really get your money's worth. Today I returned and after watching videos on YouTube, I decided to order a large iced Philtered Soul (hazelnut flavor and chocolate) and had it with medium cream and sweetener in place of sugar. Another winner of a drink. Rich flavor and smooth taste. I am now a convert...goodbye Starbucks!! I have to drive a little further to get there, but it's worth it. Just make sure that if you're running short on time, place a mobile order on their app and the drink will be ready when you arrive, allowing you to skip the line to place your order in-store. It's fast and convenient. Keep up the great work Philz and thanks for a delicious cup of coffee!!

Philz serves good quality pourovers with many roast and infused flavor options. They even have an iced option for the hot days. We ordered the Tantalizing Turkish and the Philtered Soul -- both iced and with no milk or added sweeteners. Both were delicious and didn't need those extra to make the coffee taste good! Love that. Coffee at its' purest. They don't skimp on A/C (thank you, Philz!). Parking seems ample with street and neighborhood parking available. Saw a small lot nearby but didn't know if that was associated with Philz. There is indoor and outdoor seating available at this Philz location.

30 minutes wait for a coffee. It's hard to understand why. Wanna sit in a parking lot and waste your afternoon? Come to Philz in Encinitas!

Terrible service and coffee. Told us to go outside and they would come out and tell us it's ready and never did. Also took forever

Best coffee spot in Encinitas. Better Buzz has a better ambiance but if you're looking for really good coffee, this is the place.

Surely they are masters at greasy bacon and eggs, day old coffee, and probably little else. Wrong. Very wrong. This place may look a little ordinary from the outside but there is nothing ordinary about it. It may look like a classic diner inside but it does not sling food like an old diner. The menu is well-written and the food is high quality, excellent, and borderline gourmet. Do not order eggs, bacon, and toast here. Swing for the cheap seats. We tried the Ham, Avocado and Tomato Eggs Benedict. The hollandaise sauce was fantastic. If I didn't care about remaining somewhere under 350 pounds, I would return every Saturday and eat my way through every single eggs benedict concoction on the menu and there are many such benedict creations from which to choose. The Banana Nutella crepe, with "whip" cream (not "whipped," apparently, we're gentle with our cream here, folks), was decadent. If you like your breakfasts on the sweet side, you will enjoy this one. The Tres Porkitos omelet (made with ham, bacon, sausage, and cheese) was hearty and just as good as it sounds. The breakfast potatoes were very nicely done but could have used a little more seasoning. There is a salt shaker (and numerous hot sauces) on the table for just these types of emergencies. Do NOT leave here without getting a freshly-made biscuit with butter and honey on the side. You have made a serious error in judgment if you leave without getting one of these. Even the freshly-squeezed orange juice was delicious. Our server was wonderful. No complaints. They have dining inside or on the patio. Encinitas is a delightful community. While I loved the old school diner feel inside, you cannot go wrong with the people watching outside on one of our almost always sunny days in So Cal. If you live here, you already pay the Sunshine Tax so get your money's worth and sit outside, if you can. 10 stars.

Pretty dirty inside. I could get past that (food is fine / standard diner fare) but owner is…read moreresponding to comments by calling people "retards". This is more disgusting than the grease-soaked seats.

It's tough to get a table for a weekend noon. I booked our reservation a few weeks ahead of time. Parking is either near the train tracks across the street or on the curb. We got the egg dish and salad bowl. The yogurt for the eggs was deliciously spiced; dipping in the toasted bread into the gooey poached egg, creamy yogurt, and herbs was delicious! My issue with this dish were the herbs that were too large. Was I expected to stick a big piece of herb on my toast? The dish is saucy with the chili oil so my clothes were dirty with the oil covered herbs. Chop the herbs smaller for practicality! Another dish suffered from the execution. We got the bowl which I thought was going to be a grain bowl. Rather, it was a ridiculously-sized salad--as much leaves as a pack from the grocery store! There were toppings within like slices of avocado, pieces of orange, farro, and nuts. I felt like I was trying to treasure hunt to look for these pieces. The salad was comically oversized. It was dressed fine but suffered from the portion size. You could see this theme with the French toast too where you get 1/3 of a baked bread. I'm honestly confused by this chef who has amazing experience. Why do you construct dishes that are difficult and impractical to eat? Less is more. These dishes need extensive edits. How this place got Bib Gourmand is honestly surprising to me.
