Family and I were seated in the cocktail/bar area at the Temecula location on 11/08/24 shortly after noon/early afternoon time. I don't remember our servers name but it was a female, brownish/dark hair and she looked Asian or mixed Asian. Everything was going well until my family called the server so we could place an additional order. The server happened to be walking towards another table. She turned, looked at us, and said gimme a minute I'll be right there as she held her hand up, talking to us like we were children or something. The server was so rude and disrespectful the way she responded with a nasty attitude. We were simply asking for her attention in a polite way. To this sever, I don't know if you were having a bad day or what but that is no reason to treat customers the way you did. You clearly do not understand the meaning of customer service. After this encounter, I notified the manager on duty and there was a very kind lady that took over for the rest of our meal. Had I known the tip was still going to the rude server, I wouldn't have left a tip because you deserved nothing!! I would have directly tipped the new server that took over. This food was horrible. Undercooked and slathered with some sort of sauce. The chicken, if it was real chicken made me lose my appetite. I had to throw it out. Even my dog would not eat that thing. I trust my Great Dane. I make better homemade barbecue sauce, I know they use a generic disguised as sauce, with lord knows what in that. I never ate there before and will not ever again. I eat at Phil's BBQ a few times a month as the food is almost always good and it is one of the better BBQ restaurants in the Temecula area. The onion rings are one of the best things on the menu when prepared correctly. Most of the time they are not prepared correctly and they are burnt. Today was not an exception, they were burnt. As with many of the restaurants in Temecula, the service is hit or miss, usually miss! I have worked in the restaurant industry for many years and my expectations are very high, regardless, I have only twice not left a tip for the server. Today was the second time in 20 years I have not left a gratuity!! If you are not aware in the service industry the IRS considers 10% of a servers sales as taxable income, regardless if the severe is tipped or not. If your food bill is $100 the IRS assumes that $10 is income you earned and taxable. The service was so bad and the attitude of the staff was so horrific that a gratuity was unwarranted. The table was poorly pre-prepped and the server did not bring out most of the stuff needed for the meal. No utensils and no sauces that I asked for. When the food did arrive I asked for a a knife and sauces from the food runner and as he turned around to leave my table after abruptly dropping off my food he blurted out, "your bartender will get those for you." After five minutes and still no touch back from my bartender or any acknowledgement from me trying to get their attention, I gave up and went to the counter to get a knife, ranch and extra BBQ sauce as previously asked for. I actually had this same thing happen a few months ago and discussed it with the GM and he apologized profusely and assured me that it would never happen again. He gave me a bottle of BBQ sauce for my troubles. It wasn't until I was finished with my meal did I get the attention of the bartender. He refilled my drink that was empty for 15 minutes and brought the POS machine so I could pay my check. After several bad experiences at the Phil's BBQ in Temecula I am finally writing a review, hopefully management will take note and retrain the staff on what good customer service is and how to make the guests dinning experience an enjoyable one. read more

We were visiting Disneyland from the Bay Area and drove 1 hour out of our way (2 hours round trip) just to come to Temecula and get some Phil's. The Bohemian Pull Pork sandwich... Presentation was amazing, the tast, how should I say it. Imagine a mouth full of charcoal with a propane gas chaser. It was the worst sandwich that my wife and I ever tasted. I will not call it BBQ, it does not deserve the lable. Phils BBQ in Temecula is my go-to stop for great bar-b-que here in town. Great management and staff. Everyone is service oriented and super attentive. Michael, the manager on my last visit, cares for his clientele as if he is the owner. All the staff appears well trained. Shay, my server in the lounge area Friday, gave us 5 star attention. Phil's has never been my favorite but my family likes it. I'm not a fan of their BBQ sauce and maybe just about everything there. Definitely don't order their salad unless you want a bowl of romaine lettuce with 1 quartered tomato. It was the sadest salad I've ever seen and the chicken on top was maybe a quarter of a dry breast. There is definitely an opportunity for a BBQ place to have a killer salad on the menu, but this is no where close. I think the basic salad at McDonald's has more ingredients then Phil's. Ribs were ok without the sauce and the baked potato came with ice cold butter and the potato wasn't warm enough to melt it. The fries were yummy as was the ranch. My kid killed his burger. Nathan was the associate that was in the dining area, he was very attentive to anything that we needed and friendly.
