For the sides I would have given 4 stars. As for the sandwich definitely a 1 star. The portion size was on the larger size, but dry even with extra bbq sauce. We love Phil's in San Diego and finally got to try this location. There was no wait, and food came out quickly. It was pretty empty for a Friday early afternoon but started filling up by the time we were leaving at 7. We ordered the family meal for 6 of us and it was more than enough food for all of us. Been to Phil's many times in San Diego, but never knew they had a shop in Temecula until I started working in the area. Phil's will never seem to disappoint. The ribs are always great and falls right off the bone. Always get the onion rings too, you won't be disappointed. Dining in has opened back up. I came in on a Friday evening and there was no line and plenty of empty tables. The place is super clean and spacious. Giving it 5 stars because the service at this location was so great. COVID dining experience review: I've been to the san marcos and point loma locations and the food at this location is not as good and is no where close to the quality at the other locations. Like another review mentioned, the consistency is always off where the ribs are very dry and tastes old or the fries are overcooked. We have tried this place twice now and have driven the hour drive just to go here but we would rather make the two hour drive to SD for better quality. IDK if it's just bad luck or what. In terms of COVID safety, I did not feel safe eating outside here or picking up take out. They've let people in without masks and the outdoor seating has misters. I feel like the mist just aerosolizes everything so it's easier to inhale COVID droplets but maybe that's not a thing however, it felt gross eating outside. Plus the tables weren't cleaned and we had to flag someone down to wipe it for us. The only thing that was good was that someone was getting the drinks for us at the drink station unlike the SD location. I hope they fix the problems here because I will not be back here again. Not worth risking COVID for overcooked food. read more

The 1/5 star review is not reflective of the food but the overall customer service experience I had when my group came here 2 weekends ago (10/25 Sunday). My group waited in line and ordered to dine outside in the parking lot. It's better to call your order in, even if you had just arrived at the store front. They have a pretty decently spaced waiting area for you to wait for your order. We ate outside, the waiters cleaned and sanitized the table for us. I would recommend getting the beef ribs, I also really liked their fries. When we were getting back into our cars about to leave, I realized I had left my phone at the restaurant. I figured I had put it on the chair between my crotch when I was getting my hands dirty eating the beef ribs. I immediately ran back and frantically checked everywhere. We also immediately alerted the manager, who then called on the radio/earpiece to let everyone working know that we are looking for a phone. We were asking around everyone, and I kept calling my phone to see if anyone would pick up. Luckily, I had my fitbit on, which was able to tell me if my phone was nearby. My fitbit was picking up the bluetooth connection but we turned the place upside down and still couldn't find it. As we were about to give up, we noticed that there were two of the waiters that seemed to be quite nonchalant about the whole situation, whereas all the other waiters were very helpful and attending to us. We questioned the waiter if anyone would have "misplaced" it, and he immediately responded "no one would steal it." We pressed on and asked if anyone would've simply put it elsewhere to keep it safe, and sure enough he went to the back and took another look, and found the phone there (even though my fitbit was vibrating when he was near!). I don't believe that they would've had the phone in the back the whole time and no one brought it out especially when the manager alerted everyone. I'm just glad I got my phone back, but do be careful of your personal belongings because I'm sure this "accident" isn't the first time this has happened. I'm lucky I was able to somewhat use my fitbit as a "GPS" of my phone and ultimately got it back. read more

Jan told us how great the food is and raved about the high quality service from the catering team. He helped us sample some of the food while we were there. Amazing food! They've got some great offerings on the menu from rib plates, chicken plates, sandwiches, salads, and loaded fries to satisfy your barbecue cravings. The first time with a brother from the ministry and we split some Tri-Tip loaded fries, a rack of St. Louis baby back ribs, cole slaw, and a sausage link which you can get for an extra $4.99. We sat outside on the patio where they have water misters making it more comfortable to dine in the heat. We can't wait until we get Newsom recalled out of office so that we can go back to normal again, but I digress. The loaded fries were really good! The beef was nice and tender and the overall flavor was on point. The baby back ribs were great too, the meat was tender and the barbecue sauce flavor was not overpowering which is the way I like it. The link was average so just save your money because this was a big pass. The second time, I had the ribless pork dinner with my choice of fries and cole slaw. This was very good and I'd recommend this dinner plate if you're looking for a nice helping of meat. The pork rib was good, although not as tender as I would have liked it but the flavor was nice. The cole slaw was average, nothing spectacular and fries were fries. I wish they were cut a tad bit thicker because these were skinny fries so they didn't retain the heat very well and get cold fast. Other than that, the staff is very friendly and accommodating. I will definitely be back again in the future when given the opportunity. read more

This place is pretty good! Their bbq sauce is a unique bbq flavor that I've never tasted before! I got the onion rings, ribs and tri-tip. I ordered to take home and the wait to receive my order only took maybe ten minutes tops. The employees and guests are all geared up in masks and gloves too which is nice. This place was delicious! IT IS A MUST AND I WILL BE RETURNING AGAIN! For starters, I'm not a huge fan of BBQ, and so I was not expecting for it to be something I enjoyed that much. My boyfriend and I went ahead and ordered the following: BBQ broham, loaded fries with tri tip, a sausage link, corn bread, a beef bone, and onion rings. Everything was delicious! The trip was really soft and flavorful, but the cornbread really stole the show. At first I thought it was really overpriced, but you get an entire round tray with two delicious sides of butter to dip that sweet soft bread into. It is also a huge portion of food! We weren't able to finish it up in one sitting so we had leftovers (Woohoo!). Overall, I really enjoyed it, and I can see why it is such a popular new spot. I'm so glad they opened up a Phil's BBQ slightly closer to where I live even though I live about 50-60 miles away from it. This Temecula location is nice. Located in a shopping plaza, it's kind of hidden so you will have to drive through that loop to find it, but if you can spot Men's Warehouse then you will find Phil's BBQ there. Ambiance: outdoor dining during covid. You can order inside, you just have to line up first and wait for the cashier to call you to the counter to place your order. I actually ordered in line, for 5 orders. I did not really have to wait that long, in fact, I only waited about 10-13 minutes for 5 orders placed in-house. That is very quick service. Food: I ordered Baby Back Half Ribs (with Fries + Potato Salad sides) for $17.50. As usual, never disappoints. The last time I had Phil's was like back in Jan 2020 right before Covid hit, so I've never went out again until more recently...so yes, I had my satisfied cravings fulfilled. My mom and sister shared by ordering the Baby Back Full Ribs (with Potato Salad and Macaroni Salad sides) for $23.50. They enjoyed it. My dad ordered the Half Chicken Dinner (with Potato Salad and Mac Salad sides) for $13.50. My friend also wanted two orders, so I helped them order two Baby Back Full Ribs (Fries, Potato salad and Mac salad) which amounted to like $47. They loved it. Only thing I would suggest is adding more bbq sauce to it. Thoughts: Next time I want to try their beef ribs. I remember trying it once vaguely but a few years ago, I had a good experience with it though! If you live in the LA/Orange/Riverside County area, then Temecula is the closest location. Excellent on customer service. The social-distancing was present. They set chairs in sets of two or three in the dining area for patrons to wait for their pick-up order, socially-distanced (or you can wait outside). They use the microphone to call for your order when it's ready. Parking: Easy to find parking in that round plaza. Just park anywhere. I'm sad that the San Marcos location permanently closed as every time I drive down to San Diego and back, I always stopped by there for dinner. So I have gone to the one in Rancho Bernardo and the Temecula location. The latter would now be my go-to. read more

Ok came here on Friday night so I know the issue wasn't that it was sitting out. We got a full rack of baby rib and it was dry as hell. Seasoning was good and smokey so that was nice (hence 2 stars instead of 1) But other than that, I make better juicy fall off the bone ribs with a $10 rack of ribs and 2 hours bake time. What irritated me was that the last 2 pieces we had were nice and juicy. So they can make it well, it's just inconsistent. Like wtf...for a full rack of ribs to be over $30 and only 2 pieces were good...kinda irritating. We also had the tri-tip fries and they were ok. They were dry too. I would say my favorite thing we had was the potatoes salad. But that isn't enough to want to come back. read more

Went to this branch and like always, Phil's bbq never disappoint. Came here hungry and came out with full belly. My fave is the bbq pork, so tender and juicy practically falls off the bone and has the right ratio for sweetness and tanginess. The link sausages was also delish and has a very good smoky flavor to it. And oh the onion rings are one of the best crunch I ever had. Took home onion rings leftovers and I just pop it in the airfryer the next day and it still came out crispy. The sides are huge and fresh. The ambience is fine, however, I felt like the lights were dimmed more that it should coz I kind of wanted to see my food better. Now, aside from the fact that this place really serves good food, the service here is top notch. Each one of the staff I ever encountered here are very attentive and will make you feel welcome and satisfied with whole dining experience. So guys you don't need to make that trip to SD to get your Phil's bbq fix. Save gas and time and just come to this branch. read more

Ive been looking forward to coming to this place since my friends and I had an Airbnb close by. The service was good, they offered us additional sauces but it was a disappointing coming home to missing some of them. The quality of the food was lackluster in comparison to the SD location. We ordered the beefy ribs w/ baked potato as the side, tri tip sandwich, pulled pork sandwich, onion rings, and the 1/4 chicken plate w/ Mac salad and coleslaw as the sides. The beefy ribs were okay, we had high expectations to the point where we tried, a bit dry but they were the best part of the meal. The baked potato was good, but it was any other ordinary potato, none thing extraordinary about it. The pulled pork sandwich tasted like chemicals, was pretty dry, the meat tasted like shredded chicken. Similarly, the tri-tip sandwich was a bit rubbery, dry, and too saucy it reminded me of beef jerky. The chicken breast was dry but the thighs were juicy. The onions were in good portions however. The sides were decent as well or so I'm told. Honestly, probably going to another BBQ place to erase this memory from my head LOL. Maybe it was just a bad day who knows. read more
