My husband and myself heard great things about Philly Steaks. He ordered the buffalo chicken French fry bucket and absolutely loved it! The chicken was mixed throughout. I ordered The Godfather hoagie (my eyes were bigger than my stomach) and it was delicious.... even better I have a meal for tomorrow! The only unfortunate comment I have is regarding the girl at the register, she was a bit rude and dismissive, fortunately for her a very sweet young lady came to assist. read more

Wonderful lean cheesesteak sandwiches with choice of toppings and cheese! I ordered mine with green peppers, mayo and provolone. Not realizing the sandwich was gargantuan in size, I ordered fries. Again, a variety of choices to flavor the fries but I choice plain. The fries were nice and thick and flavorful. I would have given 5 stars if only there was a choice for smaller appetites, like a 1/2 sandwich size, with fewer fries and a smaller price. Hence, I have leftovers. Great fresh food! read more

Having been from Philly and a fan of real Philly cheesesteaks but now living in Texas we were excited to meet the owners (who are from Philly) and find out about their shop. I'd like to give this place an A for effort. My wife wanted a Philly, so on the way home, we decided to stop by this place. We arrived at 1pm or so, and there were about 2-3 people waiting for their orders. The place wasn't packed, but it wasn't dead either. My wife and I each ordered the cheese steak combo to go, which comes with fries and a drink. On our Philly's, my wife ordered Swiss cheese, mushrooms, green chile, mayo, pickles, and fried onions as toppings. I ordered fried onions, mayo, provolone, and mushrooms. My wife also got curly fries instead of regular. Our order number was 27, and two minutes into sitting down, number 22 was called. Okay, a little bit of a wait, we thought. However, 30 minutes passed and still nothing. Maybe another 5 minutes passed and we receive our food. They apologized for the wait, and knowing it's part of business, we said no worries. When we arrived home, we noticed that the toppings were written on the Philly wrapping paper, but they weren't all on there. Thinking they just didn't write it all on the paper, we opened each sandwich, but no, they didn't give us all the toppings. My wife's sandwich only had pickles, mayo, cheese, and green chile, and mine only came with mushrooms and cheese. A little disappointed since we had to wait, we were hoping the philly was, at least, good. They were okay. I tried both, and they were just meh. Oh, and for my drink, I got a lemonade and sprite mixture, but it was extremely sour, thinking that either the sprite or lemonade was done in the machine. By far by favorite local place to eat. One cheese steak is enough for two ppl or two meals. The cheese steak fries are awesome! I stop by at least once a week , it's normally busy, but they make it to order and it's ready within mins!!! The owners are really down to earth as well! read more

About the most pertinent thing I can say is Wow. My sandwich was ginormous. In fact everything I saw being served was huge. If I go again, it would be because I'm starving, plus need leftovers. I used to live in PA, and it was pretty authentic here. read more

Man, I'm really disappointed to report this bad review! I was hoping for something great but what I got was not! My memories of places famous for their Philly Cheesesteak sandwiches are filled with the delicious smell of the onions and peppers being grilled up that would literally make you salivate! Didn't get that here. Hmmm?! Unfortunately, this was one of the most bland and tasteless sandwiches that I have ever had. Maybe they were having an "off day". I was genuinely excited to stop in and have some lunch. I had the Bellpepper Cheesesteak which included bell peppers, onions, provolone (my cheese choice) and I added red roasted peppers. By the way, if you want green chile added to the non green chile Philly Cheesesteaks it'll cost you an extra $.75. First, the onions and peppers were diced! I know I'm not from Philly but EVERY Philly Cheesesteak I've ever had has had sliced versions of those veggies. Not to mention that the onions here today were under cooked. Additionally, the Philly's I've had were cooked with the veggies and meat being cooked together at some point in the process so the flavor of the onions and peppers could flavor the meat as well. Surely not the case here. I prefer not to use salt when I eat food but the sandwich was so bland and tasteless that I added some in this case...and it didn't really help much! My total tab was $18.66 (included a $2 tip at order point) for one person! I also got regular fries ($3.25!!) with the sandwich ($9.75). Fries were decent and the portion on both sandwich and fries were really enough for 2 people. But I can eat and I only ate half my sandwich. Didn't even bring the other half home. Also had hoped for some tasty bread but it was not and was a bit doughy as well. Again, I was sadly disappointed with the food here and at this price I'm not sure if I'll be back to give it a 2nd shot. I can get much more tasty food elsewhere and usually for less money. read more

Eh. My boyfriend and I wanted phillies for my weekly "cheat meal". We thought we'd give this place a shot over our usual, Filling Philly's. It's located where the old Deli Berry used to be. I was a little worried that it was a poor location but they seem to do just fine. There were several people seated when we arrived and it seemed like they have quite the steady flow of clientele. The menu offers more than just Philly cheesesteaks, but let's be real... We came to a place called Philly Steaks for the philly steaks. We both ordered the green chile philly, mine with white american/fried onions/red peppers and his with cheez whiz/fried onions. We also ordered the cheesy crabby fries. Wait time was short, food was hot. I was disappointed that they forgot the red peppers on my sandwich but no biggie. I went up to the counter and asked for them. Instead, I was given sweet peppers. I give up and go back to my table. There was no real seasoning on the meat. Sandwiches were pretty bland but the chile had a little kick to it. The cheesy crabby fries were incredibly salty and tasted like a packet of beef ramen seasoning (according to my boyfriend) - wouldn't recommend. Will we be back? Probably not. I'd choose Filling Philly's next time I get a philly craving. read more

Finally legit Philly in Albuquerque! Phenomenal sandwiches with chewy soft hoagie rolls and actual chopped rib eye. Coworker tried the Buffalo chicken with blue cheese dressing. The quietest he'd been all day. Friendly helpful staff would have kept it to 5 stars, but the food albeit good is pricey and portions too big for avg Joe. I grew up in the Philadelphia area. So when I saw this place I had to try it out. I've been all over the US and seen many places that claim to make a Philly Cheese Steak. Until now I never found one. This is the real deal. It took me back to my childhood. I had the Philly Steak with Fried onions, mushrooms and green peppers, with lettuce, tomato and mayo and of course WIZ. If you want to get a Cheese Steak like its made in Philly you HAVE to get the WIZ. I will definitely make this my once a month treaty to myself. Also, while you are there you HAVE to try a Tastykake. They hand slice aged ribeye roasts every day. They import their bread form Philly and finish baking it in house so it's nice and fresh, and they give you a lot of topping choices. The best philly cheese steak I have had so far in Albuquerque. The atmosphere is great in this hidden NE Albuquerque gem. Clean dining area and restrooms. Cool sports art on the walls. The staff is friendly and efficient from placing the order to serving your food. Allow about 10 minutes for your food to be ready. They cook everything to order. They offer a delightful array of cheese steaks and hoagies with about any type of topping that one could want on a sandwich. The fries are well cooked and can be topped with a number of items. I got a cheese steak with wiz and sautéed onions and a bucket of fries with wiz. The meat is chopped ribeye steak. Tender and very flavorful which is true to cheesesteak heritage. They also make an excellent Ruben as well. The portions are generous and well worth $10.75 per hoagie. Don't forget to save room for one of their homemade desserts. Some restaurants are born to greatness. Philly Steaks is just such a place. In full disclosure, I am not from Philly and we don't have a long cheesesteak tradition in Minnesota where I am from, but I have been to Philly a few times and eaten my share of cheesesteaks. I thought the cheesesteaks at Philly Steaks were great and the rolls were as close to authentic as I have had in Albuquerque. Next time I am going to ask for extra cheese but the taste was great and there was a lot of steak! The star of the show for me however, were the French Fries. The fries had two things I like about fries, the meatiness of steak fries and the crispness of fries you might get at a fast food restaurant. The only place I have had better fries was in Brussels, Belgium where fries originated. It was pretty busy when we ate there for lunch but the service was efficient and friendly.
