I've been coming here for years and I am always satisfied. The owner and people who work here are amazing. They're friendly and have never made me a bad sandwich. The other day one of them was cracking jokes with me and I'm SO used dealing with emotional robots at most places that I didn't know how to respond. I hope I didn't offend him for my delayed laugh lol. But yeah, the food is always amazing. Took a friend here who used to live in NYC (so you know how high his sandwich standards are) and he was very impressed with the sandwich we had and told me this was the best sandwich in all of abq! We were heading to the zoo and wanted to grab a sandwich to eat while we were there. The staff was nice and ask if we had been, when saying we hadn't, they explained the menu. We split the roast beef torpedo. I like that they list the free add ons. They also have banana peppers even though they aren't listed. It was a good sandwich that hit the spot, but not very memorable and would rather get a bahn mi if going out to get a sando. Also the pickle wasn't great, kinda soggy.. They also have ice cream. All the hallmarks of a good restaurant. Friendly staff, quick service, good price, good food. I go the Poseidon half sandwich and it's about the size of a normal sub anywhere else. Bread was perfect, a little crisp but light and airy. I also got a chocolate shake that maybe was a little more melty than I thought it should be, I suspect it was made with real ice cream based on taste. Melty or not at least I was able to drink it! Besides a simple sandwich menu you don't have to settle for chips. We had the waffle fries. For sandwiches I had the meatballs - tasty with a flavorful sauce. The wife had Steak & Grilled Onions - nice flavor, tender meat filling & the onions tasted sweet. They carried Blue Bell Ice Cream - our favorite. Just right for a scoop, a shake or something rarely seen anymore a malt. None for us today. The sandwiches filled us up. Talked with the manager about the 6' sandwich in the case. Business was sold, food has changed, and it is not good anymore. Wouldn't call this a mom and pop anymore. New owners are all about $$$ Prices have more than doubled in just year. We loved the the Seasoned Cross-cut Fries!! They are jack in da box curly fry seasoning meets Chick-fil-a waffle fries. So damn good that we came back the same day to order the bucket version of the fries. Had a Steak & Grilled Onions sub, meat had a great texture, cheese pull was great, and the onions upped the favor profile. Wish the steak was seasoned more but regardless still a solid sub. Atmosphere was great, Beatles themed old school cafe actually works great with the old school love inputted into the food. I sometimes visit your sub shop on Montgomery Blvd. Until yesterday I was satisfied with the quality of the sandwiches. However, Yesterday I ordered my usual half Yeller Sub to go. When I got home (5 minute drive) I was disappointed. The submarine roll was stale. So stale that when I bit into it, the crust crumbled. I don't know how long a submarine roll must be left out for it to dry so, but it must have been hours, many hours. Now I will stop and consider where I will eat the next time I want a quick meal. If all you order is bread, you're in for a treat. Crusty on the outside, fluffy and soft on the inside. Their bread has all the deliciousness you'd expect from bread made in house. It's so yummy I always tell myself I'm going to order a loaf to dip in olive oil and spices. You can get just about any sub that other places offer, but the one I haven't seen anywhere else is the hamburger sub (my 9yo's favorite). A half sub comes with 2 small patties, cheese, and all the toppings you want. The kids meal is a steal! A 4" ham or turkey sub (or a grilled cheese) with fries and a drink for $6 (as of 1/2026). The fries always come out golden and not soggy. We always get the criss cross (seasoned) fries with cheese sauce. The cheese sauce isn't anything special--it's the stuff that comes out of a can, but it's cheese and it's yummy. Food always comes out quickly and the staff is always friendly. The dining area is always clean--someone's always coming by to bus tables or take empty baskets from tables. Decor is an homage to The Beatles' Yellow Submarine (obviously), so be prepared to explain Beatle Mania to your kids. read more

My wife and I stopped by yesterday while we were waiting on her phone repair. This definitely our new favorite sandwich spot. I did t realize they'd have hot subs, my preference, and they are amazing. The turkey had so much flavor if tasted like turkey you'd get at a bbq restaurant and the Poseidon (basically a Philly) was my personal favorite. The bread is also amazing. On this visit, Hubby wanted a hoagie and I just wanted to try a new place (other than our usual choices). The first thing that caught my attention was the front of store. From the parking lot, I could see the yellow sign and the fun logo. The color yellow was featured throughout the restaurant and they were even playing the Beatles when we came! The Yeller Sub is located right off of Menaul and somewhere I've driven by for years but never tried until recently when I had a strong craving for a sub. I had to check out the recommendations on Yelp and the overall consensus was go try The Yeller Sub. I want to start off with saying that the full sized sub is huge.. One whole sub is a good serving for two people and the homemade chips are stellar. I ordered the turkey sub and it was very good, lots of meat and the bread it good. I did note other reviews mentioning not to order toasted and so I got mine cold which is honestly what I wanted anyways. This is a super solid option for a sub in Albuquerque. They also have ice cream and of course the chips are fantastic! Service was pretty fast. read more

After decades of being a GREAT sandwich shop there is a new owner and new staff. Didn't think it would be better than when Mark & Rosie were there but it is. Subtle improvement are appreciated. EDIT 5/13/25 Well how things have changed... for the worse. Counter staff is always polite and professional. Prices have gone up a LOT. Last three times there the food was poorly prepared. Sandwiches were thrown together like the cooks, and that is being polite, don't care. Sandwiches are meant to be eaten with one hand or two not with a knife, fork, and spoon. The owners should pay more attention to what is going on in their kitchen than their ratings in a local magazine. @ $17 for a large sandwich that falls apart in the basket...
