Friendly staff. Order at kiosk or online. Take out, no tables. Bagel was very good, enjoyed my bfast sandwich.

Everything bagel with plain cream cheese

I'm really liking this place as you can tell. The breakfast sandwich egg and sausage quality was not good but the normal bagel and cream cheese was great. The ability to do mix ins for cream cheese is nice.

Glad to see a bagel spot in Bloomfield! Grab and go style with kiosk order screens. No where to sit inside. Quick and efficient! Bagels are indeed phat! Good crisp on the outside and chew on the inside. Cream cheese was also good. I got a plain bagel with cream cheese and it was ~$4. I do think price goes up if you get one of the breakfast sandwich options though. Plenty of street parking on the block in front or nearby.

This is a tasty and decent attempt for a good bagel restaurant which is severely lacking in Pittsburgh. This is takeout only. They don't have any seating or countertop space. The bagel is good. It's large, with a crunchy exterior and a soft interior baked fresh same day. They load up the shmear which is key when just ordering a bagel. And up to most recent experience, I would have given 5 stars. My disappointment came when I ordered for the first time recently a bagel sandwich with egg and sausage. I drove home for about 5 minutes and when I got home, the egg and sausage were cold as was the bagel. The sandwich itself which I requested cut in half had too much shmear. That amount would have been welcomed if I was just getting a bagel and cream cheese, but in a loaded sandwich, the cream cheese amount should be reduced by at least half. They don't have premade specialty cream cheeses. Every topping is a "mix in", kind of like one of those table top ice cream shops where the mix toppings into your ice cream. In this case, the oil from the candied jalapeños mixed with the shmear and made it a gelatinous curdy mess. It's just not a good combo for a mix in. Also, I'd rather see them invest time into making one to three specialty cream cheeses in advance rather than try to upsell everyone for $.75 per topping on mix ins. For example, last time I got uncooked jalapeño for the mix-in and I could barely taste them. If you add a few toppings in the bagel, it goes from four bucks to $6-8 after tax, which is a little steep for a few cents if seasoning or veggies. I really like this place. And they are figuring it out. I believe they have potential to be an incredible institution in Bloomfield. I hope that they take this feedback into consideration and improve their bagel sandwich product and consider introducing a few shmears that their customers can fall in love with.

Bagels. Right top -everything. Right bottom - garlic. Left - plain.

The Speckled Egg provided the upscale and elevated breakfast, that was a nice contrast to the rustic and local breakfast we had the next day. Our waitress was friendly and professional. After some deliberation, I went with a bowl that included eggs, chicken sausage, sweet potatoes and a nice garnish of dill. The dill surprisingly elevated the whole dish. My wife enjoyed an omelette. Coffee was also quite good! Nice start to a day of sightseeing! (The restaurant staff gave great advice about the nearby tourist attractions)

He was courteous, well spoken and friendly. We sat there for about 10-12 minutes. No one approached the table. We looked over to what appeared to be a bar area and we saw two servers standing there talking and showing each other their phones. My wife said, "With our luck, one of those two is our server." Sure enough, when they were finally done talking, one came over to our table....no smile and a big audible sigh. She asked what we wanted to drink, we gave our order and she returned with our beverages. After another 10 minute wait she came back to take our order. When asked about a certain dish, came another big sigh, eye roll and and a rote description of said dish. The food arrived and one of the orders was wrong. Another wait to get her attention. We asked for the item to be redone as we had ordered it. And she even asked how we wanted it! You got it...another eye roll and a big sigh. At least she was well oxygenated! The dish came back with the very same results. On that issue we gave up. Then came the wait for the check. Once again the two servers were chatting, no heads turned to check on their tables. My son went over to get the check. When the check arrived, it was attitude city. She accused us of picking on her because she was only a server. It's obviously how she saw herself. We then asked for the manager who was quick to side with the server. She said that nothing seemed to satisfy us and that we had a problem. IN SHARP CONTRAST. I have been to the Speckled Egg on the South Side many times. From the Host/Hostess to the servers to the bus staff, everyone had a smile, chatted with their customers, laughed and it was always a great experience. The manager came over since he recognized me from being there many times and we chatted for a minute. We are talking Night and Day. Completely two different experiences from server to management styles. To me there is only one Speckled Egg and one complete waste of time (Downtown).

Thank me later! ) What really made the experience even better than just having great waffles, was the people. General Manager Sharon and Assistant Manager Kelsey were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and genuinely seemed excited to help. The owner Len was EXTREMELY responsive to my email & text inquiries (which honestly is rare these days.) As a small business owner myself, I notice and appreciate that kind of effort immediately!! This place is absolutely underrated. Between the amazing staff, the aesthetic Instagram/TikTok worthy storefront, and food & drinks that are ACTUALLY delicious (because sometimes places only nail one or the other ), they've got the full package! Plenty of seating inside & out. clean bathrooms, self-service kiosks but they also have a register if you are lazy like me. Parking can be a little challenging, but there are several nearby garages that make it manageable. 10/10 experience. So grateful we got the chance to try smashed waffles. I ordered a coffee, a savory waffle, and a sweet waffle, and everything was delicious. The cinnamon roll coffee I ordered was also fantastic and a very smooth and sweet drink. Everything was fantastic, and the owner was extremely kind and welcoming. I will definitely be back!

In truth,…read moreit's such a favorite of mine that I headed there straight from the airport on my most recent visit. The cool vibe restaurant is tucked away up a short flight of stairs on Filbert Street. It gives the place a cozy, hideaway feel with brick walls and murals. It's pretty popular, so you might have to wait a few minutes for a table, but it moves pretty quick. The menu focuses heavily on crepes and French toast, and they do both very well. I went for a savory crepe that was loaded with eggs and topped with a rich sauce and diced vegetables. It came with a side of fresh fruit which was a nice touch. We also ordered a sweet crepe to share. It was beautifully presented with chocolate drizzle, berry sauce, and a massive pile of whipped cream. The coffee is solid too. Verdict: This is a consistent and reliable brunch spot. It was the perfect way to kick off my trip. I will definitely be back next time I am in town.

But the star of the show for me is the Shakshouka. I have gotten it the last 2 times I went. You also have to try their Dirty Chai. My only critique is the hostess at the front. She appeared overwhelmed by her role and was not warm. We were actually told by the waiters that "she is serious about her list". Which would be great if she managed it effectively. When I brought concerns that we had been pushed down the list 3 times for other parties. She responded "well, how do you know that" to which I responded "we watched you take their names down after ours and sit them before us". Her response was to shoo me off and tell me to go find a table myself; to which I did. But what a poor way to manage your stress, responsibility, and consumers. On the bright side my waiter/waitress was awesome per usual.
