My friend and I usually go to Luxe Studio right off Butterfield, but we decided to try someplace new that was a little cheaper. We made an appointment, arrived 10 mins early, and still waited a solid 15 minutes PAST our appointment time before they actually started. When we walked in, it felt like a surprise that we had an appointment, and they weren't ready for us (which they weren't). We were told to pick out a polish from somewhere, happened to find swatches on a table, and picked from there. For some reason, they decided to separate us, which defeated the purpose of us going together. My friend was taken to one of the tables in the back and I sat alone at the front of the house with nothing to look at but the street. I asked if I could sit next to her, but they said no. My friend had her acrylics filled and was done in 20 minutes. She said she noticed minor mistakes and didn't feel well taken care of. My nails turned out nice enough, but they weren't cut or shaped very well. Overall, the service wasn't horrible, but it wasn't great either. As appealing as the prices are, I think I'd rather go somewhere else next time. read more

I was shocked by the good reviews for this place. I had an appointment for a dip manicure and waited 33min before they attended me. I had the opportunity to view their practices. They used the same nail filers and cuticle trimmers on multiple people. I told the owner when I complained that I had to be done within 1 hour of my attire as I had other errands to run. She proceeded to do a certainly less than stellar job: no cuticle trimming (which was just as well as I would have refused that given my concern for cleanliness), not even any nail filing, she put the dip pretty far from my nail bed so it looked like it was already a week old. The color did look good and one week out, the nails have held up. Still, I certainly will not be returning. read more

Most inexpensive no chip I've had and the quality is better than any other nail salon I've been to. The pedicure is absolutely outstanding!! Guess I got the WORST nail person there! During my pedicure she was dropping her tools on the floor and picking was them up again to use, which she would have done if I had not stopped her. She argued with me about how I wanted my toenail design. I wish I had just gotten up and walked out when she dropped the first tool. She was talking non-stop to the nail girl next to me in some foreign language during the pedicure. Just plain rude! She did an OK job on the fingernails but argued with me about how I wanted them done! Doesn't she understand that I am PAYING and that means I get the look I want. I used to go to a nail salon where I was regular but ended up leaving due to the rudeness of the owner. I decided to try out Phabulux and have been coming here faithfully for the past year. Unfortunately, their charm is slowly decreasing. I always make appointments and for the past couple of months I've either had to wait or my nail tech had been overbooked causing me to wait. I'll wait but it's frustrating when you take the time to call for an appointment and something is always happening. I don't know what's happening there but I hope that they soon get it together because I would hate to have to move on from them. It used to be a nice, relaxed salon but it is turning into your typical rush rush. No care type nail salon. Becoming very disappointed!!! read more

This place was fantastic! Cleanest nail salon I've ever been to. The people were very kind, and service was fast - even when the place was full. The whole time I was there they had a constant flow of clients. For $22 your pedi comes with a salt scrub, and a short hot stone massage... Can't beat the price! I'll be back for sure! read more

Went to this salon with 6 other ladies and we all got no chip manicures and pedicures, Kim and her staff did a wonderful job and even offered us bottled water. We were able to have the salon to ourselves before it opened and were very comfortable. The salon is right off Main Street and in an very nicely remodeled two story old home, the inside is clean and beautiful. A nice new salon to go to! read more

I think I'm one of the most particular individuals when it comes to getting my nails done. I would get them done every other week as a "work perk" at my previous job, and I went to salons all over downtown Chicago. But in between jobs, I would do them myself because my own jobs looked so much better! ;( I decided to get a no-chip one day because one of my girlfriends swore on this place. PHABULUX is the PLACE, y'all. I've brought several of my friends here, and they all agree that their technicians do a great job. I highly recommend Pham. He's incredibly thorough, clean, and is super friendly. I'm really sensitive and the thought of getting cut freaks me out (I've had traumatic experiences elsewhere), and I've told him just that, and he's been really careful. (Thanks, Pham!) They're super cost-friendly ($25 no-chip, $22 pedicure--like, so inexpensive), and they always, always do an awesome job. I've been coming here for a few years and they have always been sweet and accommodating. Last hours day, I went in for a pedicure and manicure. However, overnight my big toe polish chipped. The girl did a bad job on my feet rushed the job and for my nails I got no chip it hasn't even been a whole two weeks and my no chip is peeling off bad. I will never go back. I have been going to Skye for the last few years for mani/pedi's. When he is not crazy busy or rushed he does a great job! When it is very busy he cuts corners and the service is mediocre with poor results that don't last. The owner overbooks clients on a regular basis and is often rude. I referred a friend to Phabulux and her daughter and herself were treated very rudely by the owner and by Skye. I was very disappointed to hear how they were treated. I am not a big get-your-nails done girl; I could count one one hand the number of times I have had them done. That could change after my visits to Phabulux. I have been there twice for no-chip manis that have lasted beautifully and looked great. The price is reasonable, the salon beautiful, and the staff is really nice. I especially appreciated that it doesn't have the overwhelming chemical smell that you can encounter in some salons. I've came here for a regular mani once and a handful of no chip manis. Every time I leave very impressed with my nails... they look great and last 2+ weeks before chipping. Generally I have to come in because they've grown out before they've chipped. Great place and can always get me in right away. Free parking in the back as well. read more

I came here to get my nails done with my friend before our trip to Florida on Sunday. Looked quaint. We walked in and asked for two pedicures very small assortment of colors and as we were choosing trying to choose an appropriate color the guy kept coming up behind us almost pressuring us which after a minute another lady comes by and tries escorting us back to which I said I'm sorry I'm not ready and she laughs and walks back speaking in their language which I felt was rude. When I ask for no chip the lady sitting in the chair gave me a weird look like I had two heads "no chip on your toes?" I said yes and they brought the swatches out for us as we were contemplating she said you can sit down and look through them you have so much time to which I smiled and kept looking through them and they felt very pushy and made us so uncomfortable that as bad as we need pedicures we looked at each other and decided that we needed to leave as soon as the guy walked back and a customer came in we just left so fast. I looked back and said we'll be back. Definitely won't be back. Neither of us have ever felt uncomfortable like this in any nail salons. And I've been to a few that were pretty rude and even then I never felt this uncomfortable. read more

Was really excited to try this salon. First experience-got my eyelashes done and the owner squeezed me in for a pedicure. You pay for what you get so I lowered my expectations for the eyelashes and was pleasantly surprised. The pedicure was basic and seemed rushed but I chalked that up to last minute request. (FYI-pedicure didn't last much more than 1 week). But second visit was very telling. Had an appointment but still waited more than 10 minutes. Got my eyelashes done again this time the owner did it in about 10 minutes (this should have been a sign) and I did get a no chip. Thought I'd give them a try. The polish is bumpy and the quality is below my 'lowered expectations'. And the middle of one of my eyelashes fell off in less than 24 hours. I was out of town unable to come back in and have her repair (regardless I'd hope it lasts at least 24 hours) since it was noticeable I had to remove all eyelashes. I called immediately to notify owner And now she expects me to pay 15. More than happy to pay for services I receive, but why should I be charged for a service that didn't even last 24 hours. What a disappointment! I really wanted to like Kim and her salon. I wouldn't go back if there gave me services for free. read more
