Left the store in tears because of what I saw in the betta fish aisle. Cups of fish full of their own feces and algae, some dead, some gasping for air, others just plain old sick. I let one employee know, who called another girl over. she told me the fish "like to lay down". I told her i have a betta fish and theyre not supposed to be swimming in algae. She said "they would be cleaned tomorrow" (good to know theyre not cleaned daily). She took one dead one and one gasping for air "to the back". Guess that one wasn't saved. Got death stares from her for the next 15 mins i was in the store even though i did not blame her. So i bought another sick one and saved him (hes doing so well now just because i gave him clean water and space). But his fins are all ripped and tattered because he was corroding in his own waste. Shame on you, Petsmart. For real... do better. read more

I do not recommend using this location if you have a cat. I booked an appointment for my cat to get a haircut, deshed, and bath. I really just wanted him to get a haircut and deshed, but that wasn't an option. Upon arrival, they told me it would take 2 to 3 hours. This made no sense to me. When I asked why, they admitted that they overbook every appointment and always have too many animals and not enough people to perform the pet grooming services. I received a call 2 1/2 hours later telling me that they were not able to give him a haircut because he was too "anxious," but they gave him a bath and deshed. I was very annoyed. It is their job to perform grooming services, yet here they are calling me saying they cannot perform grooming services. I basically had to pay $100 for a bath I could've done at home and for them to deshed him. When they brought him from the back, they handed him to me and said he's still wet because he was too "anxious" to finish drying him. They couldn't even blow dry the cat! To top it off the added a "Special care fee" to the bill. They couldn't even do the job that I paid for, yet they were charging me an extra fee. read more

Rudolph has his nails clipped here every couple of months (it's absolutely out of the question for me to do it by now - you make ONE mistake!) and they do a great job. The main priority for me is that he feels comfortable and the staff is always happy to see him and he feels that and becomes comfortable instantly. Every few months we go for a bath too but not very often he has a very silky short coat. They're great with that too though and always make him feel like a king. read more

For the most part, they know their stuff. We had an issue once where an employee sold us shells and assured us the crabs were asleep inside. She also sold some dead ones and am empty shell. I understand being new ...but she places them in a zip loc , with no release form. We bought crabs here before, every few years and knew something was up. Crabs also can live up to 30 years, fun fact. We didnt see many die in our care, just 1, but had gotten a friend or 2 spaced out every few years. As we learned the proper care, we noticed that survived long. This worker kept yelling out, one second, and took everyone but us. read more

I'm speaking for the training, Michelle is fantastic. She is kind, patient and does a great job making all of her "students " successful. The store employees that I have encountered are friendly. Common sense as a dog owner never EVER bring your dogs to big box grooming, as you can see in these reviews. I was not happy last Saturday when during a training session around the store my puppy nearly ate silicia gel packets discarded on the floor near the training area obviously by a careless employee. Then when looking at the reptiles there is a emancipated snake for sale for 100$c it looked super unhealthy and when I asked about who feeds or cares for them I was met with an attitude and told the person care manager wasn't in for me to speak with( I've rescued reptiles for more than 5 years and have had 18 snakes) I asked when a person care manager would be in and was told he's dealing with his mothers health issues. There are multiple issues I saw going on. The health of the animals being the biggest one for me, they looked unhealthy and malnourished and stressed. read more

Very similar to the other pet store with Pet in its name as well. They have many of the amenities that the other store has but they also include an adoption area where you can ago to adopt cats on the spot. They also have the buy a bag of a bag program which supports local adoption shelters by allowing you to buy a bag and they will donate about your shelter. The animals that they do sell include fish birds guinea pigs mice iguanas and some others. As in any pet store that allows you to bring your dogs in make sure you watch where you step as most customers are good about cleaning up their pet's messes but there's always that one that will forget. Hey strong recommendation is to get your pet and ID tag so that if anything happens and your pet does get out people will know where your pet came from. read more

Michelle is the best trainer. We have brought all of our 7 dogs for training with her. We see her at least 5 times a week and she helps us get our mini dog pack to be obedient. From puppy class all the way to therapy dog level training, we have nothing but great things to say about training with Michelle. I actually love this store. Everyone is always friendly and helpful. They always have what I need for a good price. I buy dog food, cat food and wild bird seed here. However, the grooming salon denied my dog when I took him in for a nail clipping claiming he was "aggressive." He's been there 2x prior to this visit so I don't know how things changed all of the sudden. Worst customer service ever. Regularly bring my dog here for his grooming. I was a few minutes late for my appointment, waited for ten minutes for them to finish checking in these other two dogs. When I went to check in they needed his rabies paperwork (which they've had it's from 2018) so I went to the car to get it only to come back and be told they couldn't take him. Not to mention the last time he barely smelled like they washed him. Go elsewhere. Not worth it. read more

This was one of the bad decisions I made and I regret getting our dog groomed here at PetSmart Grooming Salon in Wayne. Made an appointment early in the day with Eden L thinking the staff would have patience and be nice to the first dog that comes in and that our fur baby would come out nice, clean & happy and unfortunately I was wrong. The groomer cut deep into one of our pet's claw's quick which they conveniently didn't mention at pick up. I was shocked to see one of dog's nail bleeding a bit later in the day and paw pad hair almost as it. Concerned of the nail bleeding, I called up to ask what happened and why was I not told about the bleeding nail, the lady told, it happens sometimes when grooming and eventually it will stop to bleed. So there is no regret or anything for the dog's pain? And, I am sorry but to me this is not "sometimes it happens" stuff. I am not a professional and yet I have never hurt our dog trimming deep into his claw, not once in over 3.5 years. The interesting part is, the lady over the phone said the dog was yanking and screaming. Why a dog, even a human/any living being would pull away and scream and probably get very anxious especially from intensive pain of a nerve ending just cut to bleed. And, we have given our dog a few times at other grooming places and no one ever bleeded his claw ever. Also, whenever we boarded our pet at PetSmart PetsHotel East Hanover, they always did a good job with nails. This is the one and only time and hope this is also last time of nail trauma for our dog. Also, it seems like they didn't trim a few nails all together!!! This is not the end of misery! When confirming the appointment, in phone and when dropping off our dog in person, I repeatedly requested not to trim/shave any of his body hair, very very very clearly. I specifically also mentioned his hair doesn't regrow as much or as fast. And despite being so clear, that is just the thing they did and in a very very bad way as can be seen in photos. Dog fur is so essential, especially in winter to keep them warm and nice, specially underside which contacts with colder surfaces more often than not. I sadly do regret giving 25% tips! They certainly didn't deserve it. Specially when I understand our dog went through so much pain and they haven't been paying attention to what is requested and they certainly haven't been nice to the dog. More than the physical damage, it is the psychological scars that concerns me. Dogs remember good/bad experiences strongly than humans so he will probably be scared of doing nails for sometime... Dogs or any pets for that matter, are senstive beings. They seek and deserve TLC. I am unhappy about how this grooming session turned out, specially trimming so deep into the quick and about how they do not regret or apologize their very bad job. It might be that, to some people, they are just pets, however, to most pet owners like me, pets are a family and they matter like any other member of the family. Should have choosen East Hanover PetSmart Grooming Salon despite the distance as they have been good with our dog. I am truly Sorry to our dog that he had had such a bad day on Valentine's Day. :( read more

Horrible grooming experience...just moved from NYC and always took my dog (German Shepherd) there for a bath and we never had any issues until we moved to nj and took him to the Wayne store for a bath. They kept our dog in the cage for 3 hrs and received a call that the dog was behaving aggressively and couldn't take him out the cage. I had to go in the back area and pull him out of a tiny cage and they were able to give him a bath without any problems. Had my dog not been in the cage for 3 hrs he would have been just like he has been for the past three years. Now I have to schedule him a special 7am appointment in order to get him bathed.. Best experience ever! This place has became our second house since our puppy, Max, loves to go to visit; he has been training here (by Michelle, she is excellent!) since he was about 5-6 months old. He started with puppy training and just finished the intermediate training. We take him to the Grooming salon once a month, all groomers are very sweet, friendly and helpful (our puppy is super hyper, and they all know him! :D). Store workers are very knowledgeable and always give us the best advice when we have any questions (also the people from Blue Buffalo-there is always someone there to help you out/direct you about what's best for your dog- We have spoken with Pat and Dan and they are awesome). We are very happy and lucky to have such a great place near us! I definitely recommend this store to everyone who wish to have a wonderful experience. read more

This review is for their grooming department. Basically, I paid around $40 for a pretty basic service which includes ear cleaning, bath, and brushing. First of all, they make you come in 3 hours earlier than you actually need to only to keep your dog in a room with a bunch of other barking dogs. Secondly, when it was time to pick up my spaniel, he received the bath and the brushing but his ears were still the same when I checked at home and had to do it myself. Also, I asked if the girl could cut one of his nails because it was getting quite long and she went into the back and came back out 5 minutes later and it was exactly the same... I'm confused, do the groomers just pretend to do what they are paid to do and hope the customers will not notice? It is the last time I will ever come here. Absolutely disappointed. read more

Jessie was amazing! As well as all the other girls inside the grooming salon. They were so sweet and took such good care of my boy. He was shedding so bad and in need of a good brushing. When I got him back he looked like he lost weight! Lol! So smooth and fluffy. He also got a bath and smelt so good and was completely dry when they gave him back. Training and grooming review!! My pup Daisy (2.5 year old Shih Poo) has been training from beginner all the way up to advanced class by Michelle. She's awesome, patient with the dogs, helpful, and friendly. Daisy loves Michelle & I'm convinced would easily go home with her in a heartbeat. I was trying to find a new groomer & knowing petsmart grooms & all the iffy reviews - I knew michelle was my most reliable source. She recommended the grooming leader Adriana considering I was nervous about switching her grooming situation. Daisy had only EVER been groomed at a private groomer, and I needed something quick Bc she was outgrown and matted. Adriana took her time with her, and did exactly what I was looking for. I usually shave my pup down since I don't groom her as often as I would with longer hair. She's usually nervous around groomers, but Adriana said she was great, and gave no problem. I highly recommend both Michelle and Adriana for whatever you may need for your pup. Despite the negative reviews I've read here, I'm glad I went out of my comfort zone and gave the grooming services a try. Will definitely be back!! read more

As an aquarium enthusiast, I rate this pet store 3-stars. The store is clean an new. They have a pretty good freshwater selection, but not marine/salt water selection. No salt water fish, and very little merch. Staff is generally friendly. But, I stopped in to look around and some kid came over to help me out. He asked me if he could help me pick anything out. It told him I was thinking of setting up an aquarium, but I would probably buy one on Craigslist, because there are so many available that are pretty new, and you can get $1,000 setup for like $200. People just need to get rid of them. Anyway, he started trying to convince me that you have to be careful with Craigslist and make sure that you're getting something that won't break a week later, blah, blah, blah. I was just like, "Man, do I actually have to listen to this kid practicing his sales pitch at the pet store?" This place is ok. I just can't give them a woo-hoo. I made a grooming appointment for my new foster at this location. Previous to making the appointment, I called multiple times, left notes on the appointment papers and spoke to multiple associates regarding her situation. The foster was not in by any means horrible condition, but she was over weight and hasn't been properly groomed for some time. Additionally, I let them know that we would be traveling upwards of 3 hours to get this dog and have her groomed. I provided exact details of my dog, (excited, large, and UNDERGROOMED) Upon arrival, they turned her away because they did not want to groom a foster. So after driving 3 hours to pick up a neglected dog, they wasted a significant amount of my time and now I have an incredibly dirty groomed dog with no one to help her as she is far past my capabilities. It's disrespectful and shameful to waste someone's times and to treat people like that, especially to turn away a neglected dog who needs help. That was embarrassing to experience. read more

We just finished a 6-week beginner training session with Michelle and she was awesome! So patient with our pup Lucky and all of the other puppies. We went weekly as a family and Michelle was engaging with all of us, listening to my kids' stories about Lucky and answering their questions. Lucky learned some great skills, and we learned how to communicate better with him. Beyond teaching what we expected (sit, stay, down, etc), Michelle also shared really great information on what kinds of foods are good/not good and how dogs "talk" to each other. We loved it and are going back this fall for the next level class! read more

Huge store with a grooming center as well as an adoption center for kitty cats. They have helpful employees around as well as many products in stock and great prices! We can easily spend hours there looking at the kitty's as well as just trying to find new fun things for our own 2 cats. Plus it's always clean inside the store. If you love your pet, please do not bring them here. My dog was nipped at a Sunday training class. He was bleeding so we brought him into the grooming room to clean him up and check his injury. I've never met a more unhelpful group of people. The girl at the desk just looked at us when we arrived in with our bleeding puppy. We asked her for a wet cloth or paper towel. She pointed to the paper towel on the counter and when we ripped off a piece we had to ask again for them to wet it for us. No one even asked if our puppy was ok. About 10 minutes later, I witnessed this same groomer yelling twice at a dog that she was grooming. She seemed to be a very unhappy person and her behavior was completely unacceptable. We will never return to this store. It was very evident to me that the people I encountered there do not love animals. Shameful. read more
