My family and I have been taking our dogs to Kim and her staff at Garden State Barkway since 2000. Over the years, we have had Shih Tzus, Jack Russells and a Cavalier King Charles (although Kim grooms every breed there is!! :-) Kim has always treated our dogs like her own. I'll never bring my dog back. I made the first appointment of the day here a while back. We walked in with about 5 other dogs. I simply asked how long my dog would be to which the owner snapped and said "when she's done". Any other groomer would have given an approximate timeframe. I was working that day and wanted to be sure not to plan meetings around the dog's finish time. But I let it go and left my pup. Another woman who was also dropping off her dog followed me out to the car and said that the owner threw a fit in front of other customers when I left because I asked how long my dog would be. The woman told me she had yelled at her father for asking the same question. I should have walked back in and got my dog, because she gave her a horrible haircut anyway. I wondered if it was out of spite or she just doesn't know that certain breeds need certain types of haircuts. The owner is rude, has no customer service skills and doesn't know how to cut a dog by their breed. She even publicly shames customers on her Facebook page. I recommend Petco in Kinnelon if you'd like to deal with a groomer who is professional. read more

Remember to tip your groomer! Great service and they love our pets! Hands down the best grooming shop I've ever been to. Kim, Neil, and Megan have been there a long time and the pets love seeing them. Such a great thing to know our pets are loved and cared for so well when we drop them off. They just refused to groom my Bermeise Mountain dog because I wanted to see where they were going to cage him. Instead of telling me that I couldn't see him I was escorted by this rude girl by the arm. I noticed they were filled to the rim with dogs and didn't need my business. Bad business. Kim the owner has made this place an AMAZING place to drop off my furry family member. I have always been weary about dropping off my baby to people but she LOVES going to see Kim! I have tried many groomers for my Morkie (including my grandmother who has been a breeder/groomer for over 50 years), but not one person gives my pup the treatment and cut that Kim does. My pup comes home happy with an incredible cut (and my baby is a wiggling little one). Kim has a love for animals that is so rarely seen. She treats each dog like they are her own. When we lost our maltese last year, Kim was right there with my mother holding her hand and helping us get through our loss. Every time I go to the Barkway, she is talking to the dogs. She wears her heart for animals on her sleeves I have recommended Kim to all of my friends and family- every single one of them has left there so happy with Kim and her grooming. We have all been using Kim at the Barkway for years and we will continue to use her... She has become part of the family. read more

My dog just spent six hours here and when I called to check on him, the owner hung up on me. Then I got a call back that she was not going to groom my dog and to come pick him up. When I arrived to my un-groomed dog after six hours(And he had an appointment...not a walk-in) she cursed at me with profanity, telling me she had enough costumers and didn't need my business. So BEWARE owner Kim doesn't need your business, your dog will sit there for hours, and you will possibly be sent home with a un-groomed dog! Take your business elsewhere....she said she doesn't need it!!! read more

My family growing up had 5 poodles and a german shepard. They used this salon and always came back happy and healthy. They follow instructions as well (shave, short, shave the face). The dogs don't seem that upset going. I now live 45 minutes from there and have a cockapoo. I go out of my way to get him here but it is worth it. First of all, it's cheaper. Secondly, I can tell he is less pained to go there. He seems happy and I can tell that he is treated properly. I would recommend this salon to anyone. read more
