I knew I was never going back when the staff was also bad mouthing the groomer. Apparently this happens a lot there. I recommended a friend to this place and her dog was shaved down to the skin. The owner responded "shit happens" . No, sorry. If you love your dog do not go here. You've been warned.

When I asked to speak w the groomer she would t come out. When I called they told me it was normal and it happens. At the desk I said oh gosh what happened and she said oh idk that happens if they wiggle. My dog is never a problem at the vet or the groomer. I had to go straight to the vet from the groomer. He had to go on antibiotics and have wound care. I called asking them to cover the bill of about 200 and they refused to speak with me or work with me. After that I decided never again and I told and showed the community what they did. This was a while ago but as I was searching for a groomer today I came upon this one and decided it deserved a review. This is to protect all the voiceless pups out there and to alert owners that if you love your dog don't go here. Hurting a dog accidentally and owning it and apologizing is one thing. Being nasty and difficult and saying this is normal is not ok. A simple apology and pleasant attitude fits a long way.

Not Just For Poodles…read more There is no better place for grooming. Period. I have a champion show dog, standard poodle, let's start there, it doesn't get much harder or time consuming than grooming him. Since I am heavily involved in the show circuit I know many breeders and handlers (those are the people you hire that train your dog for the show ring and take your dog into the ring all primped and puffed) hoping for that cherished blue ribbon. Loretta who is the owner of Pampered Poodle is very well known there not only because she is a judge at some shows, but because her grooming skills are above the rest. She is respected by the pickiest handlers I have ever seen. I was told when my dog "finished" or became a champion and no longer was in competition to go to Loretta. I have used her for approximately 6 years. On an emergency basis I will go down the block from my house, always a disappointment. Yikes, I just read the review from the woman who hadn't had her toy poodle groomed for an entire winter-I guarantee my breeder, one of the top in the country would have taken the dog back, that is neglect pure and simple, the hair gets completely matted and impossible, truly impossible to comb or brush it would have to be shaved. Another woman was called that her dog was misbehaved, I cannot comment, maybe biting? I certainly don't know. What I do know is if you are willing to make a commitment to having your dog groomed, you need to come back when she tells you to come back. She knows her business better than anyone in the business and i am a complete and utter perfectionist.

They do require a $25 deposit for appointments, but they do fantastic work so fair enough. It's a little warm in there (I guess so the dogs aren't too chilly) but it's best to pick your dog up promptly anyway to minimize their stress. The drop off/ pickup is dicey though. the parking is in the back and it's not handicapped accessible or easy if you're dealing with a dog who doesn't want to go there, if you are trying to wrangle more than one dog or dogs and young children. They respond to texts faster than phone calls but once your initial visit is done (and you decide you're satisfied with the results) it's probably best to make your follow-up appointment right then and there. They send confirmation texts as well. Tonya, the previous owner has long since retired. She did amazing work but her social skills with people was somewhat hit-and-miss. She was very kind and attentive with the dogs and did impeccable work, but I can understand how she might have rubbed some people the wrong way. She's not there anymore though and the new management is friendly and very efficient.

Unfortunately, my experience with Bow Wow Beauty Shop has been quite different from the previous…read morereviewer's. I have taken my Beagle mix here three times for a bath and nail clipping. The price would constantly fluctuate, depending on how much the owner "felt" like charging that day for the same services provided a couple months earlier. In addition, the manner in which my dog was treated was nowhere near professional. She is very easily frightened due to an unknown traumatic incident that occurred before we adopted her, but Bow Wow's owner did not seem to care. Usually, my dog LOVES people, but for some reason, she did not want to go anywhere near the lady at our initial appointment. I figured she was just anxious and so I didn't give it much thought, but then I started to see how the owner's demeanor demonstrated a complete lack of interest in the animals. She speaks to them angrily, even when they are clearly scared, and tends to prefer force instead of tough love when getting the job done. After giving this place a few chances - because hey, maybe the lady was just having a bad day or two - I realized that this is just the way that Bow Wow operates. I began taking my dog to a different groomer, one who is located a little farther away, but maintains consistent pricing and greater respect for the animals and their owners, and I couldn't be happier with my decision.
