Over all petsmart isn't terrible. But their vet clinic is. Even the standalone ones promote and push petsmart products even when your pet is hours away from dying because their vet staff is incompetent. I refused to use any of the petsmart stores when I get a new pet but the traumatic experience I had from the banfield clinic has scarred me for life. No it wasn't THIS office it was the one in Carrolton next to Tom Thumb. They tired to comment for me to reach out to them when there was no possible way for me to do that on here and after speaking with their company the people I got to "didn't take complaints" so it's a bad service all around. read more

The trainer at Petsmart West Plano, Ashley Smith, is amazing! She is the reason I shop at Petsmart. I am in the store all the time training and get a chance to see new products and shop sales. The Petsmart team all recognize my dogs and are very helpful and are so nice. I have five corgis and we are constantly training. We would not do so if Ashley's training was not outstanding. Moreover, when Ashley trains my corgis, we graduate not only with a certificate of achievement, but I have have a greater bond with my corgis and much happier, socialized, and stable dogs. Stopped by tonight to purchase a $300.00 set of cordless dog clippers and took the card up to the front. After waiting and waiting I got back in line and asked if they had them and was told the manager was a little busy. Total of 3 customers in the store so I just said forget it. So I ran in Petco and got the same exact set of clippers for $99.00 LESS and was in and out of the store in less than 5 minutes. Just came back to this location today after about 6 years with my new golden retriever puppy, Murphy, for a shave, groom and teeth cleaning. I've never witnessed a more experienced, fun, and loving group of people that take pride in what they do. This is a group of professionals that I will be taking Murphy to see every month now. He has never looked and felt better after going to any grooming place or vet I've taken him to. The employees that work here take pride in making sure that the job is done 150%. This is a great store. I adopted my dog, Belle, a little over a month ago at Operation Kindness and this is the only place we shop for her needs, and being adopted, she needed everything from food, crate, bed, toys, to all her chew items. The first time I use the Petsmart grooming in Plano will absolutely be the last time I use the grooming in Plano. They charged me $60 my dog I asked them to put a bow in her hair which they could not do. The staff which were also the groomers were the most unhelpful individuals I have ever come across, knowing that it was my first time at the Groomer did not tell me that I needed a receipt to pay on the outside of the grooming area and then took forever to bring me my 4 pound Yorky. Needless to say, I highly recommend not using the grooming at Petsmart. They absolutely suck! read more

The cashier was super rude and couldn't care less about her job. I asked her about a toy I was buying, it had two different prices on the rack, so I asked her if it rung up at $5. She said yes, it did. As I was walking out, I checked my receipt and it said $5.99, I walk back to the register and told her it did not ring up as $5 but 5.99. She got an attitude and said " so do you want me to return them and then ring them up as $5? I said "yes". Then I was speaking out loud TO MYSELF and she must of thought I said something to HER, because she then yelled "WHAT"? With an attitude. Made an appointment to board my elderly dog. Made sure I had everything ready and had all her information available. When I arrived, the PetsHotel staff unequivocally refused to allow me to board my dog because I have her in an e-collar issued by her vet. This is to protect her from chewing her feet raw due to seasonal allergies. So the only way they would take her is if I took her cone off, stating they don't allow dogs to wear clothes in the kennel. Basically, I would have to let her chew her feet until they bleed in order to board her. Also, there was no discussion or kindness or understanding. There was a very young girl who did not care about my dog and did not care that I was placed into a very bad situation on a holiday weekend at the last possible moment. This is the second time that we have brought our dog Dixie here for boarding. Both times they have sent her home smelling of urine. I went back in this time and was grateful that one of the employees (I didn't catch her name) offered to take her back and rinse off her legs. We have taken her to multiple other locations before for longer periods of time (she was only there for a night this time) and have never had this issue before at any other location. I understand that they have accidents or relieve themselves in the day camp room, but if the employees notice that she smells like urine, they don't just need to spray some perfume on them, but take the time to at least shampoo them where they smell. read more

Last Friday I took my two dogs for grooming at this location after they rescheduled their prior appointment from Monday and I really needed them to be groomed. 15 minutes before their appointment Laure(the groomer) called me to try to reschedule their service once again which I obviously refused because they had already postponed the service previously. When we arrived Laure received my dogs, assessed the service to be done and we arranged to pick them up once they were finished. To my surprise, Laura calls me some time later and tells me that she's halfway of one of the dogs' service and she couldn't finish the job because she had no time to finish the service at the moment and I would need to pick one of the dogs earlier. She left my dog aesthetically horrible . I'm really pissed because of the lack of efficiency and attention my dogs and I received this time as well as the services given and the "solution" to finish the grooming service on next Wednesday Their service policies are not well established  and are useless, I did not give my authorization to have a service partly done. I would also like to highlight that I have never had problems with their services despite the quality of their services being average. read more

I dunno what it's like for the air-breathers, but if you plan on getting a fish, be prepared to be interrogated. I'm not sure if it's a new thing or what (I've never had any trouble grabbing a betta and leaving right away at other locations), but I was told I had to complete a questionnaire before I could pay. Apparently I wasn't the only person with this problem (there was a woman getting talked down to by an employee about the same thing). Like I hated working retail too, but people have genuine questions and I think there could be less condescension from these employees. All in all, maybe pick a different location. read more

The reason why I always choose Petsmart.... The knowledge of the employees. They do not try to upsell, just to meet a sales goal and it's usually clean. This particular visit, I needed to get the dog I'm taking care of something for her skin as she appears to have dermatitis, which she's prone to (Shiba Inu) & neither one of us is getting good quality sleep because of the scratching. I knew it had to be dermatitis because so removed all allergen from her diet... She's vegan and gluten free now, I clean my floors everyday and she gets wiped down after every trip outside because that's when she seems to scratch the most. JT helped me minimize the # of items I needed to purchase to get the skin irritation under control. Thank you JT. Peridot has been feeling better the last 2 days and it's because you helped point me in the right direction with the best products. read more

I used to come to this PetSmart all the time for my dog. Then I stopped because they just take their time and are not nice! The one time the place i normally go to to get him groomed is fully booked, I go to PetSmart and it takes 2 HOURS for my baby to get a SIMPLE BATH!!!! Employees there are no help, rude, etc. I tried to buy a beta fish and at the checkout line the girl was talking to me like I was stupid and said there was a sign about the things you need to buy one, which I did not see. As I was looking up and down the isles and there was nothing posted. I've bought many beta fish from there with no problem. I originally wanted a goldfish but the lady who was helping me told me that I needed at least a 12 gallon tank because the fish can get up to 12 inches which I find funny. There are many fish that are dead and tanks were not clean. The employees were rude about it when explaining it to me. Don't recommend this location. Will not come back to this one. read more

Luv PetSmart. They have taken care of my puppy since he was 5 months old.(now 15 months). He's greeted from the minute we walk in the store until we leave. It makes us both very pleased. I have used their Daycamp, grooming and of course shop the store. I feel very comfortable leaving him there while I am at work. Couldn't ask for a better team. In the summer though, the keep it very warm. Thermostat should be done locally. It's to hot, feel sorry for the people that work in the store. read more

Our conversation seemed like bringing my dog in was super inconvenient for them. I wouldn't trust them if that's how irritated they get with a customer I wonder how irritated they get with innocent animals. I definitely should have read the Yelp reviews before spending thousands at this location on boarding/grooming. The staff seem to treat my dog well, but I'm completely disappointed in the lack of customer service at the Petsmart Pet Hotel. When I boarded my pup for 24 nights while I left the state to care for my mother after a kidney transplant, he developed an ear infection. There is a Banfield Veterinarian Clinic onsite (the ONLY redeeming thing about this location), thankfully, so he got to see the vet and he received meds. What no one told me is that there are additional charges for walking your pet the 200 ft to the clinic, and there are additional charges for administering medication. I came home to a $869 boarding bill which is when I learned about the additional charges. At no point did anyone offer even a $5.00 discount, and even though I had spoken to four different staff members over 3 weeks, no one bothered to update the info in my account nor anyone else on staff about my changes to pick up date. The Asst. Manager Stephanie called me the day I picked up my pet "with concerns" because I was a "no show" twice- a complete fabrication. Lastly, I paid for an exit bath and nail grind that could not have possibly been done, because my dog was dustier when I picked him up than when I dropped him off. In the last 6 months, I have spent nearly $2k here, and needless to say, I will not be returning to this location for boarding, or anything else. If you care about your pet and if customer retention is important to you, you should find another store, or another brand, altogether. read more

After taking my dog in since a puppy to the same groomer for over a year and loved it however once that groomer was no longer able to groom my dog as an adult because of the breed I was paiee with their "lead groomer" Worst mistake I could have made. Not only would they not honor the package I'd been on for over 8 months they tried to tack on extra fees. Then after finally getting them to do a "one time " price change ,to honor my other groomers deal , I left my dog and when I came back she was limping and had her tail between her legs and ears down as if she'd been punished. Normally she leaves happy and jumping and excited. No to find out they don't have any "records" of this and are telling me instead of offering any kind of option to make up for this they are simply saying take your dog somewhere else. Well PetSmart after 10+ years of coming to y'all I will be taking my business elsewhere and I hope anyone who reads this does the same. Apparently the corporate return policy doesn't apply to this store. Due to the packaging changing, I grabbed the wrong dog food bag a few days ago. I misplaced the receipt but didn't figure it would be an issue, especially since I was going to swap it out for the same size bag (just the correct type). I walked in and the lady said I could not return it unless I had a receipt. I explained that I was a "treats" member and had the card I used for the purchase (IE its 2020.... pretty sure they can look up transactions with that info). Didn't seem to matter to the lady at the front. I didn't have the time to argue so I left. AND GUESS WHAT?? Swapped it out at another PetSmart with NO ISSUE the next day. This being my forth time to use this place to have my labradoodle groomed will be my last.. First three times I hade a great experience was told my sweet Harper did great and hugs you while being groomed! Well today was a different experience! Harper was dropped off at 12:00 for a bath full groom. At 4:30 I called bc no one had called me, they said she is one the table give us an hour! At 5:45 we go there and she was still on the table being worked on by Jasmine, we hid to watch and we were shocked to see how rough she was being w Harper trying to brush her out under her neck keeping her on the tightest restraint.. keep in mind Harper is only 18 pounds .. when Harper would pull back in pain she would through her brush.. I rush in and asked if I could hold her for her rudely she told me I was not allowed back there.. I asked if the other guy groomer could help and hold her.. she said we have other dogs to groom besides your dog! She told me that Harper always acts this way and I said no she gets a great report when I talk to the other groomers and hugs them while she gets groomed.. then she threw one more comb on the floor and I said that's it your done .. I asked her name and said you will never groom my dog again... DO NOT USE JASMINE GOD ONLY KNOWS WHAT SHE DOES WHEN PEOPLE ARE NOT LOOKING IF SHE ACTS THAT WAY WHEN THEY ARE.. So far so good, I have gone here for all my pet needs and it has always been stocked. The customer service has been fairly good, and the little holiday events (dog photo) are pretty neat. The one thing that is interesting is the difference on online and store prices. The store does honor the online prices, but is there some sort of delay between updating prices? I do have a set groomer, but I may be trying out petsmart in the near future. My groomer is 4 hours away and it's a pita to schedule/drive/take the day off. read more

Dropped my girl off today for a bath appointment. The grooming dept was buzzing with business. As soon as I walked in I was greeted and was asked if I was being helped. I was then told that my dog's bather would be with me shortly to go over questions. I believe his name is Christian, if not I'll edit, but he was very nice and took my dog in. Took my dog here back in Sept and I was disappointed with my services. They were very busy and booked. Took my dog in for vaccines and an eye infection and I dropped her off at 9am and I picked her up at 6pm. Turns out she was given the vaccines and the eye infection was overlooked. They asked me to wait...longer in the parking lot while the vet on duty did a quick check up. The vet on duty claimed it was a stye and it would go away with proper cleaning. They didn't recommend any medication and they were very short and seemed very overwhelmed. I decided to take my dog to an actual vet hospital and it turned out my poor dog had an eye infection and needed eye surgery right away. I don't recommend this location nor the Bansfield chain. I've had 2 urgent health issues with them regarding my dogs and I have been disappointed and over charged in my opinion. Take your pet to a trusting veterinarian who actually care and isn't booked to the max and allows your pet the full attention they all deserve. read more

I watched a female DOG GROOMER (who didn't realize I was watching) treat a larger breed, medium haired grey dog (on April 15 at approx 7:45-8 pm) so incredibly roughly while combing him that I became upset and said something to the cashier and a manager. When the groomer realized I was watching, she changed up her behavior a bit. She was trying to get knots out of the dog's long ear hair and yanking comb thru so hard at times it pulled the dogs head to side as far as possible given his head was in a noose type strap to keep his head up. And when the comb didn't budge she just held onto his ear harder and kept yanking. Wow!!!!!! And I saw the dogs eyes and reaction as he looked at her and felt so bad for him that I waited in parking lot for a bit to see if owner showed up for him so I could warn them. THAT IS HOW DISTURBED I WAS by the groomer's rough techniques. If I combed my daughter's hair like that she'd be crying. I have long haired pets who naturally get clumps and knots that I have to get out. There are many ways to work on knots that are not as rough and potentially hurtful. More training and care is necessary, but in general how can any decent hearted groomer be so rough and not feel bad/guilty. Grooming like that can change a dog's perception of grooming and be detrimental to his trust in people and general happiness. Oh PetsMart. Can you suck it any harder? I seriously question my sanity when I make grooming appointments here for Hemingway. Don't get me wrong. They had - HAD - an awesome groomer here, Joseph who moved to The Colony store. After he left, the staff just stated he was 'no longer employed' at PetsMart, not that he had moved to another store. Since Joseph moved, I have stupidly taken chance here with their defurminator treatments. Each time they were AWFUL!! I pay about $64 for this service and I want it done right, dammit. This last time he had fur sticking to his butt!! It looked like they sat him down the whole time. Ugh. From now on, I'll be trekking it to Studio Pampered Pets or The Colony! read more

Not the best Petsmart I've ever been to. There is never anyone to help, there's only ever two cashiers max so there's a line and they don't stock their shelves often. I've come in here on more than one occasion looking for a specific desheding brush and chew toys and come out empty handed. I've asked the cashier (only person available) if there were any additional in back that weren't out and I always get the response "we are waiting for a shipment, what's on the floor is what we have." It's literally the response I get every time. Why don't they stock enough if they are always out? read more
