I always feel like the store is under staffed and can't find help. Today when we went in I asked the cashier for assistance with a dog harness and she called someone to meet us there. This guy Curtis came and helped us and was SO helpful and was hands ons making sure we had all our questions answered before we left. Super happy with his service was very sweet with our pup. Petsmart groomers are always so patient and professional. I just had my Wire Fox Terrier groomed for the umpteenth time today and she's more beautiful than ever. She received a Furminator Shampoo and conditioner, a #7 fox terrier cut, her nails cut, ears cleaned, and teeth brushed. All of this (which I couldn't do in a million years) for $70. BUT with a coupon I saved $5, so $65 and a little Frankenstein toy out the door. My dog is very particular about her feet and is very naughty about staying still, by some miracle petsmart always gives her back to me with a near flawless cut. I will say, on RARE occasion my dog will get the tiniest knick on her, no bigger than a pinprick. My dog most likely causes it by thrashing around and the groomer probably doesn't even notice it when it happens. When this happens, I put a smidge of Neosporin on it, and it's gone in a day or two. Overall, I must say these people do a great job, and I will always be a customer. read more

WOULD NEVER COME HERE AGAIN! I got stuck with Kim as my dog's groomer, and I say stuck because I walked in and my Malltipoo was matted and needed to be groomed and she told her colleague in front of me that she didn't want to groom him and if she could take him. That should have been a red flag to leave but I stayed. I dropped my puppy off at 10:30AM and did not get a call until 2:00PM saying that he was biting and not letting the workers clip his nails or brush out him ears, FIRST OF ALL MY DOG DOES NOT BITE, I have took him to other groomers before and there have been no problems. I arrive and Kim was working on a shih tzu puppy yelling at the poor dog because he was fussy. The worst part is she stops and says "OMG i'm so frustrated, I can't do this!!" How do you still work here? or why do you still work here? I got my order paper and went to go pay in the front, I asked for a price adjustment since I paid extra for a nail grind and they could not do it, the lady called her manager to adjust the price and the manager called the grooming office and literally yelled at them and was so nasty in front of me because she didn't want to just give me the discount, she wanted them to bring a receipt after Grooming adjusted the price. At this point I was already frustrated because my whole day was wasted since they took basically 4 hours to groom my 7 month old puppy. I complained to her and she rang me up but forgot to adjust the price. Moral of the story: Avoid Kim!!! She is impatient and rude. Being a new fur mama to my american cocker spaniel, I am always searching for the best. I live on the East side of Palmdale and always find myself at the West Palmdale PetSmart. Greg is by far the best! After debating between PetCo and PetSmart to start my Finn's training, I settled on PetSmart all because of Greg. The atmosphere and employees are all great! Some more than others, the employees here are either super helpful and want to engage in a conversation while others are reserved and stay quiet. Personally I like it when I go almost anywhere with my Finn and people talk to me and help me out on advice or guidance on my doggie. I settle with this PetSmart even though it is across town for me, because honestly the atmosphere and manager make it great read more

Was wondering if I should waste my time going there given the lack of customer care allowing folks waiting to pay in ridiculously long line while workers in the aisles ignore the lines. I have been going to this store for years as it is more convenient than fighting traffic to go across 10th street to PetCo . . . Then . . . -Then, when I heard that they have banned the beloved "Halfway To Home" dog rescue from showing there (after over a decade of their presence in this PetSmart) because one person started yelling because she was not allowed to adopt for animal safety reasons?? Really??? Praise God that these wonderful rescue people actually care about the homes the dogs go to. And YOU, PetSmart, care more about the impression that a deranged customer made in the store so you are grandstanding for fear of that customer"s "bark" (I suspect her "bark is bigger than her bite" -- sorry for the pun). -I will now start voting with my dollar and going across 10th Street to PetCo -BTW: beware folks, PetSmart also does not respect privacy requests NOT to call or email you (today I answered two unsolicited emails AND an unsolicited phone call from the PetSmart in West Palmdale ( the name of the "Assistant Store Leader" who emailed me despite me telling them not to was "Gregory Duffin" and I don't remember the name of the female who called me from the store). -Do not share your personal information with them, even if it is receipt of text messages for coupons!! read more

This store has excellent staff and is one of the most well kept stores. What occurred is unfortunate. Obviously, something severe occurred and Pet Smart had to resolve the matter. Do not bring ur precious dog here!!! Especially if your little one is matted! Very rude service! And they OVER charge you like crazy! Even if all u want is to have your dog completely shaved! Find another place and safe your money! Kaitlin and manager Kimberly are useless! (This place was great at one time, where I use to bring my dog "Princess" even when she was matted. But the service has changed! All they care about is your money! They started asking me, to pay an additional $28, on TOP of what I was already paying, even though I was ALREADY paying EXTRA for my matted dog! They started charging by the minute. And your dog can be there for a long time! They are also very condescending, and immature, with no customer service skills. And most dogs I have seen there, do not come out looking that great. They look uneven! And that's the truth! IN RESPONSE to Shaun S. Matted does not mean that my dog was ALL matted. She had "some" areas that were matted! Which is common in Poodles, Yorkies, Shih Tzus, and yes the Maltese! So obviously YOU are not educated in other types of dogs! And you did not SEE my dog. (My dog needed her 2nd dose of rabies shots to get her groomed... and she was also up for her 5in1 and another shot. Instead of giving her ALL the shots together, I spread them out! Because I LOVE my dog, and it's the best way for such little dog. It took an extra 2 weeks). I am not cheap. I just don't give extra money for no reason. And I don't like being ripped off! Say whatever you want from now on, I will not care about it. I am almost CERTAIN, that you are the boyfriend or relative of the 2 girls mentioned above. And btw, I took my dog to a professional salon. I told them what happened at Pet smart, and they were shocked! They only charged me $40 and they did an amazing job!!! They also did not have to SHAVE her, like Pet smart suggested. Thank god.Take a look at the picture of my "Princess" She looks amazing! And tell the girl of yours to stop crying! It's a review!!!!! A clean and usually friendly facility. I visited often and had no complaints. However, I cannot agree with their decision to ban Halfway to Home dog rescue. I have adopted 3 marvelous dogs from Halfway to Home. The organization was kind and thorough for each adoption. Their objective was a "forever home" for each dog. Because the dogs were fostered, the host families (often present) knew the animals well and gave me useful information about the dogs' experiences with other dogs, cats, kids, housebreaking, activity level, etc. It was a conversation meant to insure a proper "fit" for both dogs and family. It was a great benefit. These adoptions also generated a lot of goodwill to Petsmart. I was appreciative that Petsmart generously offered a display space for the adoptions every week. Petsmart also donated a bag of food for each adoption. Halfway to Home was the reason we went to the store regularly. We would drop off donations (towels, etc.) and we would shop at Petsmart on our way out. We have fish, turtles, cats, and dogs. Sadly, we will no longer be shopping here. read more

If you have a cat I don't recommend it. I have taken my cat to get its nails trimmed every month for three years no issue. I loved and tried this place. They charge more then petco (which is right across the street) and the lady wanted to give my cat a tranquilizer before I even took him out of the crate. Again my cat never fights getting nails trimmer and rarely whines. Also they didn't have science diet cat food which I find surprising. Petco has more high quality cat food options in comparison to this particular Petsmart. read more

Never ever going into any of these stores again.. Went in on a sunday to buy a bird, cage, bird food and a few other things. Easily would have spent $100 dollars. We could not find any employee to help us. My husband my 6 year old and I stood around for a few minutes at first looking at the parakeets and deciding which one to buy, while we were looking no one asked us if they can help us. My husband decided to go look for an employee didnt find anyone around so finally two of them pop out of nowhere dont even acknowledge us and go straight to where the snakes were which was literally right next to us. Apparently they couldn't find a snake. So again standing around, we decided to pick out a cage and the other things we were gonna need for our new bird while we waited. After we got all of that again with no help we waited, finally a lady that didnt even work for this place but was there for the dog adoptions (bless her heart) asked us if we needed help, after watching us look around and peek our heads around each isle so ofcourse we said yes we need help, she said she would find someone for us, okay thank you! Waited some more no one came so my husband went to look for someone again and finally found someone and told my husband they would send someone over. We waited again! No one ever came! We finally walked out of that store same way we went in. Cant say we didn't give this place a chance. Your customer service sucks!! Went to petco and had a way better experience. Employees actually payed attention and helped us. Spent $100 at petco instead. Dont know about you guys but I dont like walking into a store and look for someone to take my money. read more

I have always gone to this PetSmart for purchases, grooming and to adopt from Half Way To Home. Now that after 12 years Half Way to home has been tossed consider me tossed. This first rate organization has benefited the unwanted dogs in this valley for decades. They are kind and responsible and do what is necessary to make sure an animal is in the right home and will not be dumped again. Love the store but watch out for Halfway to Home. They are joke... The want their animals to be adopted but want you to live by their rules. We had a visit from them today and they took our puppy back. They had concerns about our backyard. I told the girl that we are working on the issues and will continue to work on them but that was not good enough. She started to tell me that it might be to much to handle. How can anyone make the assumption in the first 5 min. To top it off she was rude and bitchy. She made a comment that this was her foster dog. I have been going to this store for years. I have supported their charities, used their groomers, purchased toys and food. We purchased carriers and all the other things that's needed when getting a new dog. We have rescued our dogs through Halfway to Home at this store. But now I find out that they have banned Halfway to Home rescue from their facility. I am angry and dismayed. This charity is a wonderful rescue. We had to be screened and our house and yard inspected. They made sure we had enough money to take them to the vet when needed. I would expect any reputable rescue to do that. However, I've learned that one customer was angry that they didn't accept them as adoptive parents. The customer raised a fuss and they backed the customer and banned Halfway to Home. Shame on Petsmart for not backing a rescue that had the best interest of the animal in mind! This rescue was offering wonderful, well-adjusted dogs that had been screened and cared for. Petsmart should have backed the knowledgeable, kind people from this rescue that they have worked years with. There was a reason they were denied. This charity brought you quite a bit of money. Before taking sides with a disgruntled customer, someone at Petsmart should have thought of the greater good. I had already stopped using them as groomers for the most part since I saw one of the groomers (who was in a particularly foul mood) yank my little 15 lb. dog around. Now, however, I will not be going there under any circumstance until this rescue returns. Shame on you, petsmart for not standing by the animals you supposedly love and make all your money from. I'm sure that one customer was still unhappy and now you have some REALLY disgruntled customers. WTG read more

Grooming department is rude and inept. They told me they can't keep grooming my dog because he is 14 years old and figits due to nerves. He is an adopted pound puppy and they don't seem to like him, as they always complain. They also told me to give him tranquilizers before I bring him. I told them no pink skin shave and he came out with pink skin. His hair is longer in places and not trimmed correctly. Done with Petsmart. read more

I have been taking my cats Olive and Marty McFly to this petsmart for grooming for over a year now and I have never been let down. I have a hard time cutting my cats nails myself because I'm terrified of cutting too far so I go and see Christina who knows my cats and treats them as her own. I trust this team completely. I just got home and I was contemplating whether or not I should say something about my experience....but I truly left unhappy and disappointed. I would of stayed and talked to a manager but, I needed to go home. I scheduled a haircut and bath for my puppy. The first time I took him there was for a nail trim only because for baths and cuts you have to make an appointment. I truly put my trust in the groomers to tell me what I needed. So, when I booked the appointment I was expecting a bath and a cut. I took him today for his bath and cut. When I picked him up, he looked the same. I asked why they didn't cut his hair.? They said I got the puppy bath and not the trim. I told them I booked for a bath and cut and that the bath comes with everything..nail trim, paw shaving, cleaning ears etc....I asked the girl helping me if he got his paws shaved, and another employee interrupted her...she said you have to ask for it, I asked if they cleaned his ears and again the other girl (with the facial piercing)interrupted and said I have to ask for that service. They didn't cut his nails because they were already short, which I get. However, how am I suppose to asked for the other services if it's my first time there and its already included in what you paid for? I was pretty flustered at this point. I asked if for the trim I needed to have an appointment and the rude girl said yes. I was at least expecting a hey let me do it real quick...I wouldn't have minded paying the difference or waiting. She wasn't very friendly or apologetic for the miscommunication. I worked in customer service for a very long time and I know what GOOD customer service looks like. So yesterday we were getting things for Maverick and we heard he loved balls so we found one that might work with our chew monster Luna but it was 30 dollars ... Luna is notorious for killing toys in a day or two of purchase so I typically buy only toys on clearance..I wanted to try the ball but didn't want to waste 30 dollars so I thought I would ask up front about recommendations and you know what I learned ....if the dog destroys a toy within 30 days of purchase you can bring it back and return for a different toy till you find a toy that works for your dog! Whattttt?!?!?!? This cashier just changed my life (I need to look up her name) and made me feel a bit stupid and remorse because I have spent sooooo much on dog toys in the last 8 months with NONE surviving more than a week or so and little did I know .... I am telling you she made my day, my week and maybe even the rest of my dog owning life!!!! read more

Had my standard poodle groomed here today, they did a great job. One of his best cuts ever! He is always clipped in a fairly intricate Miami clip, so i can tell when a groomer has done a good job. I've used Petsmart for several years (in a different state) in addition to independent groomers; the only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that Petsmart is about $20 more than other independent groomers I've used before. This location is getting worse and worse as time past by. Kim provides a great service and my dog loves her. One time I got him a little wet even though they took 4 hours for a regular bath $43.99. The Manager is so rude and doesn't know how to talk to customers. I went for a 7pm appointment and he didn't accept my dog. He said they won't be able to finish the bath and I will have to take my dog wet because they close at 8pm. Then, why do they have 7pm appointments? The idiot blamed the website. He needs a training on how to talk to customers. read more

We get both of our schnauzer's groomed here occasionally. Not picky about which groomer we get, as they are all good at what they do. We also adopted a dog from here. The customer service is great. I just wish they sold Natural Balance dog food. read more

Mike, Laura, and Emma are very knowledgeable in the small pets and aquatics section. They make sure you get everything you need. The store is very clean and the time to wait in line to check out is usually pretty minimal. They also do free water testing for aquariums just bring a sample in a baggy or cup. read more

Since 2012 my family has adopted 3 dogs from Halfway to Home at the west 10th Street Palmdale Petsmart. We referred two more friends to adopt their dogs from this rescue as well. We have all been delighted with not only the health and quality of our dogs, but with the interaction with the volunteers at this rescue. They asked us many questions to understand what kind of environment we would be providing for the dogs, they did a home check and we have all been so satisfied with the adoptions. Halfway to Home is a dog rescue placing living breathing dogs into safe and loving homes. In the age of "the customer is always right" people expect to get what they want, especially if they start yelling and escalating their desire into a demand. Petsmart cannot insist that a rescue like HWTH place a dog into a situation that is not in the best interest of the dog or the dogs the family already has. Sometimes we all have to hear no and not take it personally. Petsmart should have supported HWTH. The management failed and this is a huge loss to the community and to the more than 75 dogs this rescue currently needs to place in forever homes. Shame on Petsmart and Petsmart Charities. read more
