If I could give zero stars I would! My whole family has always adopted from halfway to home and we just learned PatSmart is no longer allowing there. We will definitely be taking our business elsewhere and ensure that all our friends and family do as well. Halfway to Home has been part of our community for years and is an amazing pet rescue. They save animals from being killed and while these dogs are in their rescue they train them and love them. Our dogs that we have rescued through them over the years have always been the best dogs and their goal is to ensure all animals are placed in a safe and healthy environment!!! The staff is very friendly in particular DANI, she was the one that groomed my cat, she handled my cat in a loving manner that made me feel comfortable leaving him, considering it was his first time. Halfway to Home has been thrown out of Pet Smart Westside Palmdale. They have been there over 12 years and with no notice have been removed. There are literally thousands of dogs in the AV that were adopted through them. The veiled innuendoes by the manager are disgusting. I do wanna say thank you to Greg the store manager and his Sunday night crew that was there 12/11/16 we bought our tank set up kit took it home to realize it had a crack on the side. We called in said we could exchange it but if they didn't have it they would refer us to a store that does have it to pick up. Unfortunately they did not have the tank but the manager Greg said they just need the tank so they exchanged it with another kit and we kept what was inside (made my life easier then driving to Lancaster)and the cashier did not get his name but he knows his stuff on aquatic thank you. Just heard PetSmart is now disallowing a REPUTABLE rescue (Halfway to Home) from participating in adoptions there because they refused to adopt one of their dogs to someone they felt may be harmful to the dog. THANK GOD they made that determination. Using the race card and making a scene because you don't get your way is not helpful or useful and perhaps illustrates exactly WHY this rescue refused to adopt one of their dogs out to this individual. PetSmart must not have gotten the email that Petco and Chewy.com are out there. Well I for one will be availing myself of these other companies. I'm updating my review from 5 stars to 2. I bought 3 more fish for my aquarium here a few weeks ago. A week later I found Ich on two of the fish I bought. I lost half of my aquarium, as it spread. The kicker. I went back to the Petsmart, and was told, they had been having a problem with their system, and quite a few of their fish had developed Ich. Sure would have been nice if they had told me BEFORE I purchased the fish. No refund offered. They should have had to replace my fish, plants, and give me the salt to treat my tank for free, since they knew they were I've since taken the two months + to rid the entire tank of ich. Two months of daily pain in the butt, water changes, and treatments, until my aquarium was ich free. I lost 6 fish, and my live plants. Not a happy camper!!! I went to Petco to re-stock my aquarium. We adopted our dog from HTH three years ago and love her dearly. She was well taken care and the HTH staff was great. I'm sure in time Petsmart will regret this decision and realize it was shortsighted and reactionary. I'm sure there will be a financial backlash for Petsmart as well. Upon walking and beginning my search for the guinea pig supplies I was greeted by an employee by the name of Chiara; I have never been treated with such astounding customer service! We go to Pet Smart to get our pet food, groom our dog, and we tried them for training. We HATED their training program. The person who ran it was never on time, always sick, and didn't care to help much. We will never use them again. At the same time, we go to their groomers, and they are great!! We have a 1 year old, 120lb. Bernese Mountain Dog. He's quite a handful. They always take him on time and take their time making him extra-handsome! PetSmart from all appearances trains its employees to sell every item they can possibly sell you, even if you really *don't* need it. My wife and I brought our Chihuahua puppy in for dog collar sizing, and we ended up getting not only a collar, which we did need, and the leash. . . but a harness. When we took our puppy to High Desert Obedience Club's puppy obedience school, we were told by the very experienced - 18 years - AKC certified trainer there that a harness was not at all needed or desired. In getting a refund for said harness - and for the puppy obedience school courses also previously purchased - PetSmart will only give you cash out of the register drawer if you make your purchase via an ATM/Debit card. This means we have to physically drive over to our financial institution to deposit the monies refunded. An extra chore. Why can't they simply refund electronically like other retail businesses locally here in the Antelope Valley? I dunno. Ah, I'm pining for the days of Pet Oasis in Lancaster, may you Rest In Peace. Petco? Probably the same as PetSmart - and they're right across from it on 10th Street West. Littlerock? Rosamond? I'm gonna check this one out eventually. PetSmart has pricing that is far too high. I love this Petsmart. For two good reasons. Their names are Luke and Sam. Every weekend they have an adoption with half way to home. They bring their rescues out to the store and it is a very popular time for the dogs. I was very fortunate to find me two great dogs at Petsmart. Their selection of food is great. We love shopping at this PetSmart and love to use their grooming services as well! Be careful booking a grooming appointment online, as we were accidentally double booked and had to reschedule. They handled it so well and even gave us a discount to make up for the trouble. We just call to schedule now. Just as quick as doing it online. Went to TJ's and was dreading going to Walmart after. Our dog needed dog food, and then when we pulled up i was like HEY! There is a petsmart! So we shopped for ourselves, and then ran over to the get the dog food (which ended up being guinea pig food, toys and dog toys as well) You can't beat squeaky toys for easter that are only like 2.50. I like this Petsmart,its conveniently located by Trader Joes and the mall for multipurpose shopping. Petsmart as a whole is not my favorite kind of petsmart as they don't carry specialty/unique pet items. I do appreciate the variety of pet food that they have, but I don't think their prices are particularly better than other pet stores. I typically only go here for dog and cat food and prefer to buy pet toys at non pet stores such as walmart because they are typically cheaper. I would only buy pet toys here if they were on sale. The staff at this location has been particularly nice and helpful on multiple occasions. I would recommend this location for its employees, cleanliness and availability of a variety of pet food. read more

I use the grooming service for my dog Andy. Samantha was super friendly and really made Andy feel comfortable. He is a really nervous guy, but Samantha did a great job working with him. I've only dealt with her so far, but I'd highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone who will take quality care of their pet. Andy's nails grow really quickly, so their nail grinding really helps out, and she did a great job rounding off the nail do that it was more comfortable for him during our runs. read more

Petsmart Grooming- the groomers have always taken such great care of my dogs. They always go over and beyond to make them look and feel good. The chalking and stenciling always looks great! It's super easy to book an appointment. When I'm by myself they come help me in or out of the store with my two large dogs, they're very very helpful and I appreciate the extra effort. I was talked into the dog training classes by the store director only to walk out of the store with a bunch of items that he upsold to me. I attended 3 classes in which the instructor ignored my dog. It was very annoying and I felt that it was going nowhere. I ended up not returning and received no refund in return. Petsmart is always our first stop for dog food and toys. The employees at this location are always friendly and helpful. I recently had a bad experience at our regular groomer so I was happy to see that Petsmart has online appointment scheduling and I was able to get a same day appointment. I made the appointment and showed up about ten minutes prior to our time. They checked us in quickly, asked several grooming questions and took my little man for his haircut. When I picked him up he looked great! They reviewed his grooming and said to call if we had any questions. I went home and booked two more appointment for my dogs. After those two also got excellent treatment I wanted to give a review. While I was in I saw that the groomers cared for the dogs. One actually stopped grooming to give a little yorkie some kisses and love because she was a bit nervous. I have several dogs and we are now going to book with Petsmart in the future based on our recent experience. I love the online scheduling, the extended hours, and the convenience. read more

ZERO STARS!!!!! Don't recommend anyone bring their pet here for grooming services!! I use to be loyal to this location for years and brought my three dogs here countless times. Lily was the best but sadly she no longer works here. We tried out a new groomer named Pam, my pups only saw her twice and we will never return. Pam snipped my dog with the shavers right next to her vagina and failed to inform me. When I got home and gave my dog a little inspection is when I noticed my dog would not stop licking her wound, she also kept doing booty scoots as if her butt had not been properly cleaned, her nails had gunk underneath them and were all uneven and different lengths, and her paw pads still had built up dirt and gunk on them that I had to remove myself. I also told Pam that my dog didn't need to be shaved I only wanted her trimmed with the scissors, so the fact that the shaver was even used in the first place and then cut my dog and I wasn't informed upsets me very much. Her hair length was uneven all around her body, I even specifically asked that her tail be trimmed up a bit and it wasn't even touched at all. I also noticed when I was in there checking out that another couple was in with their dog speaking to the manager about their poor grooming experience and their concerns as well. I mean needless to say two bad grooming experiences in the same day is uncalled for, it's clearly the salon and the groomers they have working there. When I called and spoke to the manager Tina about this all she could say is that she will be talking with the groomer, the grooming manager, and overall the grooming salon in general. Tina failed to offer my pup and I any sort of compensation for our troubles. I will never take any of my pups to another PetSmart nor will I support them with any other business any further. The disrespect to not inform me that you cut my dog next to her vagina and the manager having no real remorse is the worst customer service I've ever experienced and I will not subject myself or my pups to the disrespectful service. I beg you please do not bring your pups here to get groomed. Please do some better research and find a better place that will respect you and your pet. Pictures don't do it justice. I must give 5 stars to one of the most caring Pet Groomers at PetSMart on 10th St West in Palmdale named Teagan. We have been using PetSmart grooming service for about 5 years and once we met Teagan she's the only groomer we ask for. We have a German Shepard named Tyson that adores her! Every time we take Tyson in for grooming, he's hesitant about going in the back once he's been checked in. Teagan gets down on the floor and talks to him explaining why he's there, what's going to happen and how he's going to be all nice and clean! She rubs him as she's talking and he proceeds to go with her! I think Tyson might do it on purpose so he can get the attention from Teagan, LOL! Also, we had a Shih Tzu named Chopper that Teagan groomed too. On one of Chopper's grooming visits we received a call from Teagan telling us of a concern she had about Chopper and suggested we take him to the vet. We took her advice and found out he had an inoperable tumor. Chopper passed away about 6 months later. When we took our German Shepard, Tyson back for his regular grooming and told Teagan about Chopper she and the other technicians were upset to hear about him. When Tyson came home from his grooming that day he had a envelope tied to his collar with a sympathy card signed by Teagan and the PetSMart technicians. It brought tears to my eyes with the type of concern that she puts in her job. Thanks Teagan for being such an awesome, caring and trustworthy person. My dogs are my heart and its nice to know that Teagan cares from the heart! read more

I've taken my pups here for years. My oldest pup (~16 y.o but now in Florida with my sister) was our first pup we took to grooming here after a bad experience else where. Since then we have had our other dogs, four total and my "fur nephews," which makes six, be groomed here. We have learned a lot about the grooming needs of our dogs over the years. Whether it's when a matt(ing) just needs to be shaved out to preventing matting to begin with including the spots that tend to get matted more easily than others. The personality of all the pups we have taken in are different from the other. Due to being a bit more picky about cost, we take two of the four there more often for a more professional groom than our two tiny chiweenies that can just as easily be groomed at home... Unless we are feeling a bit lazy. Grooming takes 3-4 hours and if you want a speedy service be sure to ask for an Express appointment when you book (it's $11 more but if your dog needs it or you need the appointment done quickly, it is well worth it and takes no more than 2 hrs)! Highly recommend that when you find a groomer that you like and or feel takes the time with your pup to stick with them! I have seen these groomers all work differently with a different personality dog but all wonderful and hard working. A few have a knack for a particular breed or have a breed they especially love but of course, everyone loves on all the pups they take in. My own pups always come out smelling wonderful and super excited to go home. All though they seem nervous going in, I have snuck a peek while they are groomed (staying out of their sight) and they are always fine on the table. I know one of my pups doesn't like the dryer some days and another hates the nail grinder and one of my "fur nephews" is terrified at the dryer. If I could give them half a star I would. Groomers as well as managers should really go to school if they want to diagnose problems. They called to tell me my dog had a bot fly and they were refusing to do any grooming on her. The spot they were referring to had been there for a year and they had groomed her multiple times. Still I took her to vet once again for a cyst, they were insisting was a bot fly ( found in South America) which would not be under the skin anyway it would be the larva growing from the egg laid by fly upon biting host. I have taken my animals here for years but will no longer do so. read more
