I relayed my anxiety about leaving him there for a few hours and she assured me she will do the best she can and if anything goes wrong to give me a call right away. Thankfully, that wasn't necessary and within 2 hours he was ready for pick up. His haircut came out great and he seemed so happy and confident coming out so I know he was treated well! After nine years as a PetSmart grooming customer, I am finally taking my business elsewhere…read more I have used PetSmart grooming on and off for approximately nine years, and for the past year I have been a very consistent customer, bringing my Golden Retriever in every two weeks for a bath and brush, along with a full grooming service every couple of months. Unfortunately, over the last several months, both the quality of the grooming and the way I am treated as a paying customer have deteriorated significantly. I have increasingly walked away feeling as though bringing my dog in is an inconvenience to the staff rather than a service I am paying for. More concerning, the attitude doesn't feel isolated to one employee. The overall environment and the dismissive response I've received from management have left me with the impression that this is being tolerated from the top down. What ultimately matters most to me, however, is how the animals are treated. We personally witnessed a groomer become visibly frustrated with a dog, grab the dog, hold up the grooming tool in her hand and say, "See this? This is going to be what cuts you if you keep moving." Watching that interaction made me extremely uncomfortable about leaving my own dog in this environment. When concerns have been brought to management, the response has felt dismissive. There may be acknowledgment of the issue, but there has been no meaningful apology or sense that the concerns of a long-term customer are being taken seriously. The actual grooming service has also become increasingly inconsistent. Services that we are told are included in what we pay for are sometimes simply not done. On several recent visits, I have picked up my dog and found that she was still wet. Appointments that routinely took three to four hours are now being completed in approximately two hours, while at the same time the quality and thoroughness have noticeably declined. I don't expect perfection. I do expect consistency, professionalism, the services I paid for, and above everything else a grooming environment where I feel completely comfortable leaving my dog. After nine years, I no longer feel that way. My daughter, who has also been a customer, has independently reached the same conclusion based on her experiences and is taking her dog elsewhere as well. This isn't a decision I've made because of one bad appointment. It is the result of a consistent decline in service, customer treatment, and ultimately my confidence in the environment where I am leaving my dog. Losing two established customers should matter. I hope PetSmart takes a serious look at what has changed in this grooming salon, because something clearly has.

Out of the blue in December, she became paraplegic and we had to have same day surgery to give her a chance to walk again. It's a $9600 surgery. Luckily she walked again after full on rehabilitation. But she injured herself again 5 months later. This is our first dog and I had no idea this breed has 1 chance out of 4 to get diagnosed with IVDD around the age of 4. I reached out to the breeder to get an idea if that was running in her family line and to let other families know that my dog had the issue so they can be proactive about it, most likely people who purchased a puppy from that litter has a much higher risk as it's genetic. Other people are going to run into the same issue, cost and major stress. They replied saying her parents were happy and healthy. No support whatsoever. This is a huge deal in my opinion and they aren't taking this seriously. I don't think I'm an isolated case. Anyone with a mini should take pet insurance at the very least we should have more information on IVDD from the breeder so we can be informed on the signs. If you don't get surgery within 24 hours, your dog will most likely be paralyzed. After surgery, she had to be 100% crated with strict instructions to manage pain with meds 3 times/day with food that we had to spoon feed. We were carrying her and holding her body trying to make her go potty. We had to have someone at the house 24/7 to ensure she's taken care of. Super long journey to get her back and she just injured herself again. Not as bad as she's walking still but it might be another episode of IVDD located elsewhere. I can't stress enough that the initial investment to get a puppy is just that.
