Okey so I brought Oliver home two years ago and what a blessing. I have had dachshund before (3) and so when I decided to get a dog well it could only be a dachshund. I searched the internet for breeders and asked around and finally found Cathy and Full Circle Ranch. I can't say anymore about Cathy that hasn't already been said, she is a wonderful person who cares for those little guys and gals. When Cathy brought Oliver in to meet me he was the happiest puppy I've ever seen. Although he was almost 16 weeks he was so tiny and lovable, took to walking on a leash and using the doggy door, thanks Cathy for the pre training One day I want to get Oliver a buddy but right now he has two cats 14 and 17 years old for company. If you are a dachshund lover or want to get your first dachshund go see Kathy at Full Circle Ranch. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE.

    Tootsie on Halloween

Long time over due for this review. We received our Black and Tan Female Doxie in Nov 2011 right before thanksgiving. The whole process went smooth. We absolutely LOVE Full Circle Ranch! Cathy was so wonderful and let us see the mom and dad of our little girl we named Tootsie . She was very informative and you can see all the other dogs are well taken care of. Just wanted to say thank you Cathy for giving us such a wonderful baby . She has the best temperament and so much fun!!! Every dog and person just loves her . When we take her to the pet sitter they tell us that when the workers find out tootsie is staying they request to work those days :) I will definitely be coming back for another sibling for tootsie!

Amazing! I got my Doxie, Kylie, from Cathy 7 years ago. I told her exactly what I was looking for in a new dog (family friendly, good with kids, calm), she let me interact with every puppy and mom. In the end I fell in love with her dog Petunia and was adamant about taking one of her puppy's home. Cathy was so honest with me and talked me into waiting a month for her dog Annie's puppies based on her personality traits. Best decision of my life. I have the sweetest and smartest dog in the entire world. After my dads Labrador passed (10 years ago) he swore off getting another dog. Last week was first time since she passed that he expressed interest in getting another dog, a doxie. There's no other place I would even look to get a new family member. Cathy wasn't interested in my money, but finding the right family member for me. I couldn't be more appreciative.

    2 pound Henry

I cannot begin to say how amazing Cathy has been in the whole process of me adopting my Henry. From the moment he was born when I put my deposit down, she has tirelessly been in contact with me whenever I had a question, to the moment I brought him home and beyond. I also appreciate that she doesn't up charge for certain colors (dapple, English cream) like some breeders I looked into do. The amount of love and care she has for these dogs is clearly evident as she has gone above and beyond to ensure which supplements/vaccines/food has worked best for her litters. I drove 6 hours to pick up my puppy because I was recommended Cathy by a satisfied friend who also adopted a pup. I am head over heels in love with my puppy and I am so thankful for such a caring breeder!

Hazel at just over 10 months!

I have been meaning to write this review for several months now. I got my puppy Hazel from Cathy and FCR in September of 2013. Since she has come into my life everything has changed for the better. She is the sweetest girl with a huge personality! All she wants to do is love and be loved. I highly recommend getting a doxie from Cathy because her dogs are beautiful and what they produce is pure quality. In the fall I plan on getting another puppy from Cathy!

    Beautiful Jasmine born 1/5/09
    Bun B.

We adopted a beautiful miniature dachshund named Jasmine from Cathy at Full Circle Ranch back in 2009 and we couldn't be happier with our decision. It repulses me that anyone would say they are "in it for the money" or accuse them of "making it up as they go along" because I know how wonderfully they treat their pets and how much they care about the type of families they allow to adopt their puppies. Their dachshunds are raised on a beautiful farm and given love and attention from the moment they are born. Everyone that has ever met Jasmine tells me how beautiful her coat is, how shiny her fur is, and how sweet her temperament is, and I KNOW that is because she was given nothing but love and special care during the initial stages of her life. Thank you so much for everything Cathy! I can't wait to adopt another puppy from your beautiful ranch.

    Casey at Lake Tahoe

I am very remiss in writing this review. I should have written it years ago, but I did not know about Yelp. My dog Casey is now 5 years old. He is a wonderful dog and obviously was aided by Cathy's careful breeding and puppy nurturing. He has been featured in four national Dachshund calendars (sold at Petco, Petsmart and other pet shops), two appointment books, and the national Dachshund Magazine. He is extremely smart, and excelled in his obedience classes. He is a great friend and companion. He goes to work with me every day. I recommend this breeder with my very best compliments. Very nice people and great dogs. I should add that this picture was taken by Sharon Eide who is the best dog photographer in the world.

After my companion pup of 12 years passed away, I knew I wanted another pup in our lives. After doing research on different types of breeds I fell in love with the miniature Goldendoodle breed. Little did I know that during Covid everyone wanted to adopt a new puppy! Every breeder in California had long waitlists of over a year! I did find breeders out of state but I did not find the idea of shipping a new puppy ideal. I wanted a local breeder with experience whom I can see face to face. Luckily in my exhaustive search I found Tropico Kennels! Lisa was the only breeder I found that had availability and that did not require for me to sign up for a lengthy waitlist and submit a deposit before the puppy was born. I found it ludicrous to pay a large deposit having no idea what the puppy will even look like! I kept checking the website regularly to see when new pups were being born. The website has a lot of useful and valuable information about the process of adopting and welcoming a new Goldendoodle puppy. Once pictures were posted online of the newborn pup I was interested in, I submitted my interest form. Lisa contacted me right away and I paid my deposit. Lisa worked with me in regards of accepted payment forms for deposit and I found her to be very knowledgeable and friendly. The website provided all the details I needed : I knew exactly when my pup would come home, expected weight, parent info, type (F1B, F1BB etc), shedding info, and the pictures of the newborn puppies. I do wish I had more communication from Lisa in terms of pictures and details as the puppy was growing (I was obsessed) but I knew she was busy and in the end I got my perfect dream puppy. When it was time to pick up my baby, I drove to Lisa's beautiful ranch and her husband was friendly and nice when delivering the dog to me. All in all I would recommend this breeder for anyone looking for a gorgeous Goldendoodle pup!

I decide to call and a older woman picks up I say hello good morning, who do I have the pleasure in speaking with? (I ask who it is I'm speaking with so that I can properly greet her ) she responds rudely& with an attitude "well you called me so you should know who I am" I say oh ok I do apologize but am I calling to Tropico kennels? She says yea. And then goes off on a rant that she doesn't answer her person phone often because she receives calls of people always trying to buy her house or sell her stupid shit. I said oh ok I understand but that was very unprofessional of you, I do not wish to purchase a dog off a business who doesn't know how to be professional or answer a phone call like a decent human being. So I then hung up. I would never speak to anyone that way regardless of the circumstances. Learn to be respectful and polite. Completely put me off and definitely will NOT EVER be buying a dog from this place. I'm editing my review because after a couple minutes my mom said she wanted to try and call to get information about the dogs. Because again my mom is interested in buying a puppy. So my mom calls says hello good morning I was wanting to get some information about the golden doodle puppies you might have. the same woman answers and says oh ok sure but can I call you back in a couple of minutes? My mom said sure not a problem and then the woman hung up. LITERALLY 1 minute goes by and I receive a message from this woman (I have attached a photo of the message) saying nice try! I did reply and then blocked her. Never in my life have I ever had an encounter like this. The woman then proceeds to call my mom back (I have attached a photo of the phone call as well that she called back) (as you can see she called back & the call lasted 14sec bc she was a COWARD & hung up) and say to her that she is not going to sell us any dog because I called and hung up on her, and that she should tell her daughter to not be a bitch. The woman proceeds to hang up. So I blocked her on both my mother & I's phone. Completely UNPROFESSIONAL and RUDE! We were only wanting information about the puppies! Which is why my mom insisted on her trying to call because she really wants a puppy. HORRIBLE experience!

It's taken me 6 months since my sweet boy passed away to be able to finally express my feelings on…read morehis passing. I am extremely heartbroken and regret using a breeder who does not genetic test their dogs. Because Barbara does not, I lost my sweet longhaired mini dachshund at just under a year and a half old to a rare autoimmune disease that would have been avoided had she tested her dogs. At a year old, my baby boy started developing an issue where he would regurgitate up all his food. He was tested for and diagnosed with an extremely rare autoimmune disease, myasthenia gravis. It is essentially a disease that impacts the body's muscle ability to function. It had appeared dormant in him, but can manifest either later on, or straight after birth. Dogs with myasthenia gravis can have the potential to live long and healthy lifes, but only with constant monitoring of their eating habits. A dog with myasthenia gravis must be watched constantly and can not be allowed to eat or drink water if it is not in an upright position. That is the only way to ensure a healthy life. He lost eyelid function and could not close his eyes; he developed facial drooping, and the worst of all, he developed irreversible esophageal damage. He could not even eat a bug off the ground without regurgitating it back up. Because of the disease, I had to have him on a series of medications, management from a vet as well as a neurologist, and feed him solely in an upright position (for at least 20-30 minutes), lest he regurgitate his food. The issue behind regurgitation is aspiration pneumonia, which can be lethal at worst, and at best, require medication and hospitalization. This diagnosis and treatment cost over $25,000, as in the process of diagnosing myasthenia gravis, my poor boy developed pneumonia twice. I ultimately had no choice but to put him down when he developed pneumonia a third time and his body could not fight off the infection. He was suffering and no amount of oxygen therapy or antibiotics would have cured the infection. This disease would have been completely preventable had Barbara tested her dogs for genetic diseases. As a recessive gene, myasthenia gravis is extremely rare. However, it is passed to offspring when both parents are carriers for the gene. This means that two of her breeding dogs must be carriers for myasthenia gravis, and the likelihood of additional puppies being born with it are high. Save yourself the tens of thousands of dollars, time, and heartbreak and find a breeder that genetic tests their dogs. I am heartbroken every day of my life after losing my sweet boy. Anyone who has ever owned a dachshund knows that they are always close to you, and the bond you develop is incredible. It is heartbreaking to have lost my sweet boy at one and a half years old to a disease that could have been avoided if responsible breeding was done. Not only was it a severe financial constraint to have to pay over $25,000 to try to keep him alive, but I neglected myself as well, losing sleep, and constantly on edge and attempting to avoid him eating anything, lest he develop aspiration pneumonia. It was exhausting constantly living on edge, but that is the only way to give a dog with myasthenia gravis a long and healthy life. I'm heartbroken, exhaused, and finally starting to recover mentally after losing my sweet boy. Do not do the same; find a breeder that genetic tests their dogs, and ask to see the testing. Ethical breeders are happy to do so.
