I got the most beautiful puppy from Tropico Kennels! She is the sweetest most cuddly adorable teddy bear! After my companion pup of 12 years passed away, I knew I wanted another pup in our lives. After doing research on different types of breeds I fell in love with the miniature Goldendoodle breed. Little did I know that during Covid everyone wanted to adopt a new puppy! Every breeder in California had long waitlists of over a year! I did find breeders out of state but I did not find the idea of shipping a new puppy ideal. I wanted a local breeder with experience whom I can see face to face. Luckily in my exhaustive search I found Tropico Kennels! Lisa was the only breeder I found that had availability and that did not require for me to sign up for a lengthy waitlist and submit a deposit before the puppy was born. I found it ludicrous to pay a large deposit having no idea what the puppy will even look like! I kept checking the website regularly to see when new pups were being born. The website has a lot of useful and valuable information about the process of adopting and welcoming a new Goldendoodle puppy. Once pictures were posted online of the newborn pup I was interested in, I submitted my interest form. Lisa contacted me right away and I paid my deposit. Lisa worked with me in regards of accepted payment forms for deposit and I found her to be very knowledgeable and friendly. The website provided all the details I needed : I knew exactly when my pup would come home, expected weight, parent info, type (F1B, F1BB etc), shedding info, and the pictures of the newborn puppies. I do wish I had more communication from Lisa in terms of pictures and details as the puppy was growing (I was obsessed) but I knew she was busy and in the end I got my perfect dream puppy. When it was time to pick up my baby, I drove to Lisa's beautiful ranch and her husband was friendly and nice when delivering the dog to me. All in all I would recommend this breeder for anyone looking for a gorgeous Goldendoodle pup! read more

I'm helping my mom do research because she's wanting a golden doodle pup, I see this place was in the area and good reviews. I decide to call and a older woman picks up I say hello good morning, who do I have the pleasure in speaking with? (I ask who it is I'm speaking with so that I can properly greet her ) she responds rudely& with an attitude "well you called me so you should know who I am" I say oh ok I do apologize but am I calling to Tropico kennels? She says yea. And then goes off on a rant that she doesn't answer her person phone often because she receives calls of people always trying to buy her house or sell her stupid shit. I said oh ok I understand but that was very unprofessional of you, I do not wish to purchase a dog off a business who doesn't know how to be professional or answer a phone call like a decent human being. So I then hung up. I would never speak to anyone that way regardless of the circumstances. Learn to be respectful and polite. Completely put me off and definitely will NOT EVER be buying a dog from this place. I'm editing my review because after a couple minutes my mom said she wanted to try and call to get information about the dogs. Because again my mom is interested in buying a puppy. So my mom calls says hello good morning I was wanting to get some information about the golden doodle puppies you might have. the same woman answers and says oh ok sure but can I call you back in a couple of minutes? My mom said sure not a problem and then the woman hung up. LITERALLY 1 minute goes by and I receive a message from this woman (I have attached a photo of the message) saying nice try! I did reply and then blocked her. Never in my life have I ever had an encounter like this. The woman then proceeds to call my mom back (I have attached a photo of the phone call as well that she called back) (as you can see she called back & the call lasted 14sec bc she was a COWARD & hung up) and say to her that she is not going to sell us any dog because I called and hung up on her, and that she should tell her daughter to not be a bitch. The woman proceeds to hang up. So I blocked her on both my mother & I's phone. Completely UNPROFESSIONAL and RUDE! We were only wanting information about the puppies! Which is why my mom insisted on her trying to call because she really wants a puppy. HORRIBLE experience! read more

Lisa should be incredibly embarrassed in how she runs her business. I received her bulk email saying puppies were available. I filled out her form to submit a deposit and had a few questions. Basic things you'd like to know before agreeing to spend $5000. Such as "how much will he weigh?". "I know the type of color and coat I'd like. Does the puppy I selected fit what I'd like?" and "might you have a photo of what he would likely look like fully grown?". I get a reply with her daughters Venmo info and nothing else I kindly asked again about my questions (thinking maybe she didn't see that part) and I get a dismissive reply saying she's too busy and suggests I find another breeder. Every other breeder I've reached out to who are surely equally as busy as Lisa have had absolutely no problem answering a few simple questions before taking my money because they want you to be happy with your puppy. As that is best for the pup and the owner. Her pups are $1800 more than almost any other breeder in the country. I'm not sure why, but it's definitely not because of their outstanding customer service. 2 stars instead of 1 star because she was at least clear that she won't communicate with you until you pay up. Lisa, I took your advice and have placed a deposit with another breeder. read more

Comparing other reviews to my experience leads me to believe this lady is mentally ill or something. They've gotta work on the customer service in a major way! I sent in an inquiry about a puppy that's available but happens to be 3 months old already. This was her response when I asked about alternative litters and informed her Id prefer to bring home at 8-9 weeks. Puppies normally go home at 8 weeks, that's normal. And giardia isn't life threatening nor hard to get rid of -- just annoying and gross. Nevertheless I won't be spending a dime of my hard earned money with someone dishing out this type of unwarranted attitude. read more

I can't say enough about this family business. And the emphasis is on family - as what they are doing adds so much value to the families who get the puppies. Their website has so much information. The care and quality they take is authentic and real and I wish more businesses conducted themselves with such integrity. I'm a repeat customer - my first puppy is from 2015. Lisa's attention to safety, cleanliness and care for the puppies is exactly how you'd want your newest family member cared for. She cares for the puppies and is interested in the homes they go to. I know since Covid, she received more inquiries a day than any one person could respond to. Please be patient. Please read the website for your questions. Please remember there is a person caring for pregnant dogs and puppies behind your impatience. And she isn't a puppy mill so she can't get puppies when there are none. It's why she's so sought after. I'd wait a year to have a trusted puppy from Tropico Kennels. read more

Wow, I am just seeing this response months later. I can not believe the way this woman lies. I am a nurse as stated before, among the most trusted profession in society and you honestly believe I would sit here and make up a terrible experience for no reason? I had no clue we were getting a full refund and you were coming to get our puppy as he is now almost a year old????????? To sit here and threaten a previous customer as your marketing strategy really shows your professionalism. The deposit was sent June 26, 2020 with this email attached (See photos below) stating that we would receive weekly pictures/updates about our puppy, which we did not-she continually made excuses. She now claims otherwise. Attached are also the screenshots of the texts in which she was absolutely rude after getting our deposit. This was our first encounter after the deposit was given. After going back and double checking for the photos she claimed were already on the website, they were intact absent. We continued with the process of buying our puppy because we work hard for our money and didn't exactly want to lose the non-refundable deposit. I do not know you or your husband however, nothing that was stated about our interaction was false or inaccurate information. Buy at your own risk, you have been warned. read more

Amazing dog and amazing service. We picked our dog up 4 months ago and could not be happier. The whole process from selection to pick up and aftercare was brilliant. Lots of love and attention to detail have obviously gone into the process and Lisa clearly knows what she is doing. We prepared for the arrival as per Tropico Kennels great website and still use the puppy stew recipe on the site today. The dog is health, happy and has an amazing character. Recently got momo, a toy goldendoodle, from here :) see pics attached. The first two pics are right after a shower and brushing, while the next three are the day i brought her home a bit pricy, but given the supply and demand of puppies during covid-19 and that this is a business, makes sense. she has an amazingly calm and mellow temperament, which is exciting as i hope to train her to become a psychiatric service dog. i will post a follow up to this review with updates on the process of having her trained to be a service dog and if she passes the certification exam :) read more

We got our goldendoodle Harry, an F1BB, from Lisa and the Tropico Kennels team one year ago. All we can say is that our experience has been nothing short of AMAZING!!!!! Harry has the biggest heart of gold, wants to play and kiss every dog he sees, loves children, loves us, and is so happy to be alive. I never dreamed of a dog that literally is this smart, sweet and like a giant teddy bear. If you want a goldendoodle look no further than Tropico!!! You will not regret your decision one bit. We got our beautiful puppy Charlotte from Lisa just over two months ago. We couldn't be happier! Lisa answered all my (many) questions from the start and was reassuring throughout the process. I'm a first time dog owner, so appreciated the helpful information provided on the Tropico site. I consulted the "Puppy Preparation" page almost daily in the lead up to bringing home our What I valued most however, was the thorough information and health records that are provided when you bring home your puppy. Our vet even acknowledged how great the depth of the health records are in comparison to other dogs/breeders he sees. Thank you Lisa! We are already discussing our next dog and will definitely be using Lisa again. read more

We got our puppy from Tropico Kennels six months ago and he is the best dog ever! The cutest, sweetest, most lovable dog we've ever had. I wouldn't hesitate to get your furry family member from Lisa! I suggest reading all of the info on Lisa's website. For one thing, it gives the necessary information on how to get in touch with her. Lisa is simply a wonderful breeder. I applied for my puppy after nearly a year of researching reputable breeders. Lisa was kind and accommodating throughout the whole process of the placement. Also our puppy is just a little angel. She was given a clean bill of health and so far has fit right in to the family. Honestly, I would ignore the negative reviews. You have to understand how difficult of a process finding a puppy is and the reality is that if Lisa entertained the inquiries of every individual with no intention of placing the (considerably small) deposit, these pups would take months to place. It's tough but she has to do what she has to do ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ and anyways the proof is in the testimonies of those who have actually purchased a puppy from her. This is a worthwhile breeder to wait for :) read more

Lisa and her husband REALLY know how to breed a PERFECT pup! We absolutely ADORE Dexter! He is now 8 months old and a medium-size, F1b (apricot) from Rusty & Juno. I searched SoCal goldendoodle breeders for weeks before deciding on Tropico Kennels. They seemed to have the most experience, most professional operation and of course the most adorable puppies :) We immediately put in our deposit and crossed our fingers for the perfect pup to add to our family. Yes there was a wait, but it was WELL worth it! Dexter was EVERYTHING we wanted. He is stunning (yes of course every fur mommy will say that), but we are constantly being stopped and complemented on his looks & demeanor, he is our Mr. Congeniality. He goes to work everyday with his Daddy and is the youngest dog and the most well behaved. Here are some pictures of Dexter from two months old (about when we brought him home) to current (8 months old). read more

Many parents will probably relate when I say that we will do things for our kids that we would never do for ourselves. That is the case here, and it ended badly regardless :( Lisa has left my daughter heartbroken. We were attempting to purchase a 16 week old goldendoodle and I made the mistake of asking Lisa the following questions (directly quoted from my email): "Here are our final questions: -Have these parents had previous litters and, if so, do you have pics of their pups as they've grown up? -Are your parents genetically tested? -I was unable to find any info on your site about how the dogs are handled while at Tropico. Maybe I wasn't looking in the right place? Where do they live? Do they receive any training? -Are you able to help arrange transport and, if so, do you know about how much it runs?" And here is Lisa's response (I've included the full text of her reply): "They've both had pups before, but not with each other, so they wouldn't be relevant to this litter and you can see many of my pups grown up on Tropico's Facebook in the albums section, also my followers on Instagram many of them are my clients. On my website is my health guarantee and health info and my shipping policy too, and my about us page tells about us, the pups are raised in guardian homes with families, children and pets, if you want training that costs extra. "I'm pretty sure I'm the only breeder in the world with 85 Five Star Yelp reviews when you combine them from both my Yelp pages. I don't feel comfortable trying to sell myself or my puppies, I feel it's a privilege to own one of my dogs in fact I feel so uncomfortable that I actually do think that it's best if you do move on like you suggested before, thank you sorry it did not work out." Her reference to my suggestion that I move on came from our first few email exchanges: --On Apr 22, 2018 at 10:19 AM, steph tobor wrote: We are very interested!! We got our golden doodle from Tropico last year . She is cute and wonderful but has no furnishings and an improper coat. That means she has no curls and she sheds a lot and is not hypoallergenic.
