I had an amazing experience adopting a dog through this rescue! I applied to adopt a sweet Frenchie puppy I had seen on their website. Within four hours of submitting my application I was approved in the process began! I was put in touch with the amazing foster parents who are so kind and open and helpful With giving me all the information about the puppy. I went to get my puppy today and she's absolutely perfect! All of her vaccines have been done she is spayed I couldn't have asked for more. Mandy communicated with me throughout the week about when I could get her and was very clear about her expectations from me as well. This organization is not only unprofessional, disorganized and dishonest. They are unethical and unlawfully conducting business practices. I spent hundreds of dollars on two pets that were made to seem mine, but it was apparent that when they arrived to my home with the dogs, they had no intention of leaving them. Truly the best rescue I've ever come across. Their compassion and dedication to dogs is unmatched. Within 24 hours of being contacted, Mandy stepped in to help a homeless woman's three little dogs, provided immediate vet care, spay/neuter, and even updates with photos. that gave peace of mind. One was adopted quickly, and another turned out to be pregnant--Mandy took on the responsibility of caring for her and the puppies. Save a Bow Wow Rescue is amazing! They really care about their pups and have their pups best interests at heart. The negative review(s) from Giselle & Muscle Beast are from the same household, and they are making completely false accusations. They were not approved because their home posed risks for the pups to escape (i.e. Jumping the fence, and leaving the front door open). Most rescues ASK if you will be getting insurance, but do not require it. It is just highly recommended. The dogs they were wanting, and at no point promised, were French Bulldogs. Frenchies are a very delicate breed and prone to A LOT of health problems. Getting not 1, but 2 Frenchies, and not getting insurance would make me decline any potential adopter, and that's aside from the risks the home posed. This also shows that the potential adopters have probably not done their homework on the breed. Save a Bow Wow is not in it for the money. They are truly about finding the absolute best possible home for any pup(s). Rescues are not easy to go through, and they are fairly strict. No rescue will guarantee adoption prior to an interview and / or physical (or virtual) home check. It's a huge shame that these 2 individuals were able to leave such false reviews. If they were basically promised the pups already, then the should provide proof of such. Who would seriously even take a review from someone by the name of "Muscle Beast", with no picture, serious? Please, do your research about Save a Bow Wow, and you'll see that they are an amazing rescue. Keep up the great work!! read more

In 2020, I reached out to SaveABowWow when a kitten appeared on my doorstep, despite knowing from their google number they primarily rescue dogs, it was late at night and i was desperate. To my surprise, one of their dedicated volunteers promptly arrived, bathing the kitten in my bathroom sink, applying flea control, and providing a wire crate along with all necessary supplies so i could contain and house the kitten overnight. They ensured the kitten was well cared for until they could find an appropriate rescue. Recently, in 2024, I turned to SaveABowWow again when our family dog needed medical attention. They generously extended their rescue  discounts at their vets office to ease the financial burden from my elderly parents. Because I was so grateful for their exceptional support, I volunteered as a short-term foster for a dog in need, housing the dog for two weeks as a proud 'foster mom.' It was incredibly fulfilling to contribute to an organization that genuinely prioritizes animal welfare. I am a busy person and cannot commit to adopt an animal full time but will help them every chance I can. I am trying to get the insurance information for Save A Bow WOW rescue. We just adopted a dog from them and they failed to disclose information about his aggression towards animals and he attacked my husband. We have 4 young children and only had him for 1 week. The foster home stated that we could bring him back if it did not work out. When speaking with Mandy at the hospital Friday evening 7/19/2024 because she called to apologize about the dog attacking my husband she stated that the foster home knew the dog had tried to attack their other Bulldog and Mandy stated she told Tiffany and the foster family that they needed to take him to a shelter since he was aggressive and tried to attack the other dog and they should take the dog their. Also, Mandy stated that the foster family said the Downey Animal shelter stated the dog was aggressive when trying to get him out to meet, but they insisted he would be ok. Mandy disclosed the truth after the dog was adopted with the hopes that Tiffany and the foster home had told us the truth and did not lie. We have 4 young children. Tiffany and the foster home kept insisting that he would be okay with a family and kids and so Mandy said she did a good deed and would do a "Courtesy Adoption" They did cover the fee for the dog when I had to call animal services who the dog also tried to attack and then he came after me. Please if anyone can help with this. The rescue adopted this dog to me under False Pretenses knew he was aggressive and adopted him into a home with 4 young children. This is such an amazing rescue. I got my sweet little TinkerBell from them. They saved her life. This poor little Yorkie, was emaciated, flea infested, she had rotten teeth, a cracked pelvis and 2 masses in her bladder. Mandy knowing the horrific condition she was in, picked her up from the shelter and got her the medical care she needed. Tink was only 2 years old and really shouldn't have survived but because of Mandy's kindness and true belief that no dog is left behind, we are blessed to still have TinkerBell who is now 9 years old now. Mandy still keeps in touch and checks up on our little Tink. They truly love and care for each dog and go out of their way to help every dog that crosses their path. read more

We tried to adopt a dog for over a week, submitting 3 separate applications and not a single word from anyone with even a confirmation that they got our applications. We have reached out to them every possible way, via email, text, call, even the social media sites. And nothing... im starting to think it's just a scam to get your personal info to sell to 3rd parties. Mandy is so professional and responds so quickly! I found a small dog in my front yard and took her in because it appeared like she was pregnant/nursing. I walked the neighborhood and no one claimed her. I couldn't keep her in my backyard because I already have dogs that don't get along with other dogs....my sister looked up dog rescues on her and Save A Bow Wow was the first one! Within minutes of reaching out to Mandy, she replied with advice and suggesting a to finding a home for the stray. Ultimately I ended up meeting Mandy to give her the dog. She was so professional and genuine in person! She also noted quickly that the dog was not nursing but had a tumor!! Hours later a neighbor from a few houses down came looking for a small dog that fit the description of the dog I found earlier. I told them the situation and gave them Mandy's number and told them that Mandy was very kind and sought to rescue lost dogs. Unfortunately, the gentleman, in particular, was extremely rude to both me and Mandy thinking I sold off their dog. Mandy continued to keep in contact with me reassuring me with updates about the dog, until the dog was finally reunited with her family. She was gave me words of encouragement in how I did the right thing after the gentleman was rude to me. 10/10 recommended this rescue if you're looking for assistance with a stray!! read more

I was introduced to this rescue by a friend and have been following their Facebook page. So when they posted a little girl dog, I asked to meet the dog. We went to one of the foster homes where "Pomi" had just been surrendered. This little dog was in bad shape, terrified, fearful and I'm sure confused. We also saw she was unkept, matted, and had very bad Skin around her back end. The Foster, Mindy, was so kind and friendly. We didn't chose the dog, but volunteered to be transport drivers when they need to get these fur babies to the vet. We ended up picking up "Pomi" after she had been to the Vet, where her fur had been cut, bathed, and skin ( turned out not to be mange or flees) but a bad infection they also had to Sedate the poor little dog because her toenails were so long they were bending into her paws. Now I would call that neglect. Please disregard the rantings of her previous owner, who is suffering from mental issues. But I can first hand tell you this dog was in bad shape and Mandy paid for all the care to save this poor dog. We have since transported two other dogs, who are fostered with another family. These fosters open their homes and heart to help these dogs. They are loving and the dogs are well kept. My communication with Mandy has been excellent and I've experienced first hand the love she has and pride she has in her rescue operation. I am proud to be part of Save A Bow Wow rescue. read more

We found a precious lab in our yard here in La Habra about two weeks ago. She didnt have a tag. My wife went on Facebook to report the lost fur baby. Mandy and Dave from Save a Bow Wow coordinated with my wife to see if the doggy had a chip. They were wonderful in scanning the doggy and reuniting her with her owners. We rescued a dog, Brownie, from this rescue to the tune of $250.00. We were completely miss lead and told he was potty trained and doggie door trained. He still pees to this day in the kitchen floor every night. We have had him for over two years and I have paid $550.00 to try and get him trained. The only reason I kept him is because my Grandson loves him so much. He runs out the door all the time the front door that is. She told us he was a Chi-winner and he is NOT, some kind of a Terrier mix so the Vet says. I feel this rescue is for the money only and will tell you anything to get one of her dogs adopted! I can't say enough good things about this place. Unfortunatly I didn't receive my puppy from here; but that didn't stop Mandy from helping me out tremendously with my own puppy. My dog fractured her growth plate and Mandy referred me to their own vet, they lowered the prices so I could afford it and now my puppy is back to normal, she basically saved my puppies leg from amputation. I can reassure you that she is one of the most caring people and professional at that! Her animals are VERY well taken care of and I cannot wait until I get another dog because I will 500% get my dog from her. I've read and heard good things about their pet boarding/sitting services, which is part of the reason I gave them 2 stars instead of one. The other reason for the extra star is that their events seem well-planned, the dogs look well taken-care of, and the volunteers (not the leaders) we interacted with were very nice. The adoption process, however, was not good, and today we feel frustrated and taken advantage of. They were very late to the meeting/meet and greet; they said the dog was fully house trained, and he was most certainly not (actually actively refused to poop outside, took us a long time to train him to poop and pee outside during very frequent walks); changed their version as to the reason the dog had ended up with them; and were rather rude and insensitive during our meetings. But we loved the pooch. The adoption fee was not revealed until very late in the process, after we had already fallen in love with the dog. We were inexperienced (our first adoption) and loved the dog, so we paid it. Later, when talking to other rescue groups and adopters, we realized it was very high (close to 500$) and probably a red flag- of a "rescue group" looking to make a profit. I think adoption fees are necessary to sustain good work, but not to profit from the families who adopt (if you will profit, say you have pets for sale, don't misrepresent yourself with words like "rescue" or "adoption.") They also said they would be happy to help with any issues, but when we called them with an actual issue they were unresponsive and not at all useful. I could say more. But that's plenty. If you must adopt from them because you love an animal, read everything carefully, make sure to push back when something looks fishy, take statements (e.g. she's potty trained, she does well with children, etc) with a grain of salt, and don't expect support. read more

Less than 2 months later, I became a "foster failure", when I ended up adopting a dog I was supposedly "fostering" for Mandy. The dog we rescued has an amazingly sweet, mellow, but yet playful temperament. We all immediately feel in love with her!!! It is clear, Mandy is selecting people based on what is best for the dog. As an potential adopter, you MUST BE PATIENT!!! She reviews all her applicants and makes the selection based on the dog. You in a sense have to prove you are "worthy" and hope the dog you fall in love with matches your lifestyle!! Which I think is awesome to ensure the dog finds it's forever home. When I became a foster family, I really saw all that she does to ensure the dogs well being and safety!!!! She gives them a loving home and rehabs them back to good heath and spirits. She fully discloses all KNOWN health issues upfront.. She does not let any dog get adopted until health issues are resolved or stable. Mandy is selfless with her time and efforts. Not only does she drive over 3 hrs to save a dog's life, but she will spend extra item with potential adopters educating and ensuring the dog is a good match.
