Our 10 year old pitbull, Chop, graduated from the 5 Step Training Program!
Erica B.

Turns out you can teach an old dog new tricks! Our 10 year old pitbull, Chop, graduated from his training program at K9 Intuition this morning and we are so proud of his progress! We took a chance bringing a puppy into our lives a few months back with the hopes that Chop had settled down with age and wouldn't have issues with her (he'd had serious problems with dog aggression years prior), but we quickly realized it wasn't that easy and we needed help getting to the root of his issues (and ours). Chop is a reactive dog and he's also been running the house for many years. We needed to change the dynamics and set boundaries for everyone's benefit. After the 5 Step program he's already made huge strides engaging with us, following commands, and being less reactive. Our trainer, Stefano, was really wonderful. He was extremely knowledgable and very kind. I felt comfortable asking questions and appreciated that he was patient and understanding with us throughout the process. We were ultimately the ones with the most to learn during the program. We already feel more confident walking Chop and knowing we have the tools to deal with any situations we encounter. Chop genuinely seems to enjoy the training process! He gets out of the house much more and he loves the praise he gets for a job well done! We are so proud of our old boy! We have hopes that down the road we'll be able to integrate him and our pup, but for now we're going to keep working with Chop and start basic obedience with the puppy. In our many years of owning dogs we never took them to any kind of formal training. I was very hesitant about the cost and if it would make any difference (especially with a 10 year old dog), but I can confidently say that we've already seen so much improvement and know that it will only continue as we keep implementing what we learned! Huge thank you to Stefano, we're grateful we found K9 Intuition and had the opportunity to work with him.

Stefano and Petey on a side-by-side ride.

K9 Intuition has truly been a life-changing experience for me and my 5-year-old pitbull, Petey. I live in Salt Lake City, Utah and willingly drive 10 hours each way because this program is the best. Petey has suffered from extreme anxiety and fear-based aggression toward both humans and dogs. For four years, he was extremely aggressive towards all people and dogs and couldn't be around anyone except my 3 siblings. After trying a board-and-train program and consulting 10-15 trainers, I was told he would always be this way. I chose K9 Intuition because it's not a "one-size-fits-all" approach like so many others. We did the board & train and Stefano tailored the training to Petey's specific challenges, starting with building trust and bonding with him, which took time and care. The progress Petey has made has been incredible, but it's not just about training your dog; it's focused on improving you as an owner. Stefano helped me recognize the areas where I needed to step up, and the accountability was exactly what Petey and I needed to make real progress. Best of all, Petey has kept his goofy, sweet, and silly personality that I love so much--something I had initially worried about when using an e-collar. Petey is the most sensitive baby in the world. They have taught me to use an e-collar incredibly well so Petey is fine with it, drastically improving his quality of life. I've been starting to take him on off-leash walks which is something I never thought would be possible. We're currently attending group classes to further Petey's growth around other dogs/people and to continue my learning as well. Yes, I drive 20 hours round trip every Saturday for these classes--and it's worth every mile. I also board Petey at K9 Intuition every time I travel and he loves it. They take him on side-by-side rides which have become his favorite thing! If you're considering K9 Intuition, don't hesitate. It's been the best decision I've ever made for Petey and me. The team's love for dogs is clear, and their ongoing support has made all the difference. Having felt very alone in this journey, I now feel like I have partners who are as committed to Petey's success as I am.

Fantastic!!! Absolutely satisfied! I have a younger (10 months) pup who I rescued from the county shelter. She spent almost an entire month at the shelter when she was only 7 months old. When I got her, she was a timid and unsure pup. However, I could see hints of confidence and wanting to be more in her. I reached out to K9 Intuition for help. I met with Stefano at his training facility. It was a large indoor building with mats, cots, boxes and other training aids. I explained to Stefano the direction I wanted to go with my pup and expressed that not only did she need to be trained, but I need to be trained, to train her. Stefano explained his 5 week course in great detail. It was everything I was hoping it would be. The foundational building blocks for a proper, well behaved member of my family. After discussing his program, Stefano inquired about any specific behaviors i want addressed and then gave me direction on how to handle those. For the course itself, we trained with Candice. Right out of the gate, Candice was friendly and welcoming to me and my pup. Candice was a phenomenal teacher. Her instructions were clear and concise. She gave a bit of information, and then let us practice. Once we were confident, Candice would move to the next instruction and so on. After 5 weeks, my pup is completely different, in a positive way! Her confidence shines! She's driven to work through new obstacles and trusts me to get her through them safely. She heels great on our walks, never runs ahead, never pulls etc. I've always wanted a dog who I could walk without a leash and not worry about it running away. I now have that confidence, thanks to K9 Intuition, Stefano and Candice. If presented the scenario, if I had to do it all over again, I would 100% utilize K9 Intuition again. I recommend them to anyone looking for a nonevasive, but very thorough and successful results!! Just remember, with everything else, you get out what you put in. You must be willing to put in the work. K9 Intuition will give you all the tools and knowledge necessary, you just got to be sure to use em!

We just finished our 5 step training program with Candice. Our 4 year old German Shepherd demonstrated fear aggression with a bit of stubbornness which lead us to K9 Intuition. With Candice's training instructions and care, our dog has been transformed into an amazingly behaved dog. Thank you, Candice and K9 Intuition!!!

Life changing for us. My wolf dog mix Dakota is a completely different dog now. I was so skeptical and nervous because I've tried to hire other trainers in the past but they either wouldn't consider even trying because of her breed or when they did try they completely traumatized her more. This led to added fear, extreme anxiety, biting, hatred of new people especially men, and so many other behavior problems that I was hopeless. Stefano at K9 Intuition was our last chance. I was so nervous about the e-collars but Stefano explained exactly what he was doing and the reasoning behind it before doing anything. He eased my stress and educated me which gave me the confidence to sign Dakota up for the 5 step program. We even signed up my other dog for training (he's an 8 year old golden retriever who is sweet as can be but was so stubborn, pulled so hard on leash, and didn't love other dogs) and the training steps were the same but Stefano explained how each of my dogs are different and tailored our approaches to each dog. My golden is now the best listener and even a child could hold his leash on a walk and he would heel perfectly. It was worth the investment even just after the first day of training for both of them. Our dogs are now on the same page and the training is consistent between the two of them. I genuinely can't believe the immediate progress my dog made and continues to make til this day. She's not perfect by any means but her confidence has grown so much and it's translating into every other part of her. She's better with people, she's great with other dogs, I can take her on hikes and not worry, she looks to me for guidance, she has less anxiety, and now we're even working on recall which is just the cherry on top for us. She listens to commands which is great but the best part is her temperament is completely different and she's learning to trust again. I'll never get another dog again without using this program. If you put in the effort it's 100% worth it. Stefano is so knowledgeable in dog psychology and helpful with questions and concerns. I could go on forever. Literally a miracle worker. Thank you Stefano!

I inherited a 2 year old boxer-lab mix who was poorly socialized, lived with rambunctious children, & didn't have much day to day stability. She was difficult around guests, sometimes growling and nipping, and honestly a bit scary and unpredictable. She is not a little dog. When I took her to my local trainer for basic training (not K9), she was often confused and stressed out. She would sit, but that was about it. When I later boarded her at that same facility, I returned from my trip to a lecture from the trainer there, telling me my dog was fearfully aggressive, and recommending behavioral euthanasia. I was shocked and scared. She certainly wasn't the perfect dog, but that seemed extreme. I contacted a friend who runs a rescue near me. She recommended Stefano and K9, and had used their services before to train some of their tougher rescue dogs. I was willing to try anything. I reached out to K9 and Stefano quickly scheduled an assessment with me and my dog. K9 is a FIVE HOUR roundtrip drive for me, and I was nervous it would be a disaster. From the first moments, I could tell Stefano was the one. He's friendly, funny, and down to earth, yet fully committed to every animal, with high expectations not only for the pet, but for the owner. You have to put in the work. That part was challenging for me -- making sure I had done enough practice to show up each week and successfully demonstrate our new skills! But we did, and it worked. He was great at answering off the cuff questions and putting us in real life situations -- always safe and supervised. It was absolutely worth the long drives. My dog has never acted better, and my relationship with her has blossomed as well. We are besties, and she calmly respects my lead. She no longer needs a muzzle at the vet. She no longer growls at guests. She no longer needs to be locked in a room when a stranger comes over. As for my dog, she is happy. She's able to get pets and gently take treats, snuggle on the couch, go on walks and even to places like Home Depot or a breakfast patio, play fetch, etc. with not only me, but family, friends, and just random people we encounter. It's incredible. She has a full, loved life. Is she always a perfect angel? No. Is she generally chill and friendly, and most importantly alive? Yes. And I truly have Stefano to thank for that.

Signed up with K-9 intuition to understand my guardian giant breed boy and from the first lesson I learned something every time that helped me become a better leader & communicator. We met with Stefano and Candice who were both very knowledgeable and comfortable handling my 175lb caucasion/anatolian shepherd who is anxious around strangers. He trusted them both within the first couple lessons. Super grateful for their experience, patience, expertise and genuine care for the well being of my boy. If you're looking to improve your relationship with your dog to feel in control and be able to communicate better K9 intuition is the best there is. Go all in with their advice, don't second guess (like I did in the beginning wasting time) and follow the program. It works.

To Candice and Stefano who helped me with Olive, THANK YOU!!! Candice, thank you for teaching me the importance of understanding a dog's language. This experience has allowed me to create a stronger bond with Olive, of which in return, has allowed her to trust in me completely. I get so many compliments everywhere I go on how well behaved she is. It's amazing! This has truly been a life changing experience for us! Thank you so much, K9 Intuition!

Absolutely incredible instruction from Candice! We learned invaluable skills to be better dog owners and felt more confident than ever before with her easy to follow program. We recommend her to anyone who's struggling with an anxious, aggressive, resource guarding little Gremlin like us. Best investment ever!

So I found this dog that had obviously been dumped (people suck) on the street at my work. I coerced her into my office and the craziness began. She instantly fell in love with me. But was a terror and would snap at anyone that tried to pet her. Uncontrollable on the leash, no manners, reactive to everything. It was clear that I needed to get this dog some training. Being a do it yourselfer I watched dozens of videos on you tube and thought I could handle this. I came across this e-collar training and knew that was the route I wanted to go. Down the rabbit hole I went. I then realized I shouldn't buy an ecollar until I knew what I was doing long story long a family friend who is also a dog trainer recommended K9 intuition. A dog trainer recommending another dog trainer I knew that was where I needed to go. I did their 5 step program and my dog has literally been transformed. There is no pulling on the leash. Her "heel" is on point. She doesn't go after skateboarders anymore. Off leash recall is on point. My hopes were not set as high as what we achieved in such a short period of time. I did most of my sessions with Stefano but because of an unexpected circumstance I did my last session with Candice. Which worked out well for me since I got to experience another trainer's techniques. Both Candice and Stefano are great. They answered all of my questions and are both very knowledgeable. That's what you're paying for, their knowledge, experience, and techniques. Some of the smallest techniques were the most valuable to me. There's nothing negative I can say about my experience with k9 intuition. I would recommend them to anyone in need of dog training.

We rescued our 2 y/o GSD from a shelter a few months ago without really knowing what we were getting ourselves into. We've never rescued a dog that wasn't a puppy and didn't know how different it would be to adopt a dog that may have had a terrible past. Bruno came home with us, and we fell in love with his personality and how sweet he was but after getting to know him a little more each day, we realized Bruno had a lot of anxiety around other dogs and some people. He reacted in fear, and it was impossible to take him out of the house because he would go insane and lash out every time he saw another dog. It was so embarrassing, and I was constantly apologizing to other people on walks. I would come home in tears almost every day because I didn't know how to communicate with this dog and have him trust me. Living in a condo, it was getting to be harder and harder being around so many other people and dogs without being able to have this under control. We tried basic training, and it wasn't working. We needed something more intense for his behavioral issues and for the safety of other people and dogs that lived in our building. We were so sad knowing the easiest thing would be to take him back to the shelter, but we knew what they would do to him there and we didn't want to give up on him. After almost losing complete hope, we were recommended by our local trainer to go to K9 intuition. We had our consultation set and were very nervous as to what they would say about him and his anxiety issues. Stefano and Candice met with us at the ranch and gave us complete hope knowing that he could be trained with certain techniques and lots of hard work on our part. They told us it was very common for shelter dogs to have confidence issues and that they felt their training could really help us. We felt so comfortable with them and saw at the consultation how Bruno listened to their stern commands - we knew we were in the right place because we could see they were good people that truly cared. After each of the five training sessions, Bruno learned valuable information that we would then practice every day for hours on end. He was doing AMAZING and the psychological techniques behind their training sessions were providing us with the tools we needed to be good dog owners. We were seriously speechless seeing how much this training was working after we almost gave up on him. We realized we were a huge part of the problem - I definitely lack a lot of self-confidence and the instances we had with other dogs gave me a lot of anxiety which then stemmed to how Bruno reacted as well. We now know exactly what to do when walking him and when new friends come over to meet Bruno. He went from a complete psychopath with dogs and some people to a well-trained gentleman who now trusts us and knows we will always be his protectors and leaders. Walks are actually enjoyable, he doesn't pull or lash out, and we even take him on fun hikes! We can now have friends/family over to see how amazing and lovable he is. Everyone loves him and he's even met a few family members dogs and loves having new friends to play with! We get tons of compliments from strangers when we walk him and family members that saw how he was when we first adopted him can see the complete transformation. He is a completely different dog from the training, and I can go on and on about how this saved us, but the work doesn't stop even though the training sessions are over. We seriously can't thank Candice enough for everything she has showed us. She is a true professional that has seen a lot and knows what to do to tailor to each dogs training needs. She's understanding, honest, and personable - and helped us so much throughout the entire process. She's so fun that we joked that she's someone we would have been good friends with even before the training. I hope this review helps other people to not give up hope on their dog. It's possible to train them but only if you're committed to putting in the hard work. Words cannot describe how thankful we are to have had K9 Intuition recommended to us. Thank you so much for everything Candice and Stefano, you completely changed Bruno and our lives for the better and we can't say enough about how happy we are with how much this training helped us!

My heeler mix was all over the place with high energy. Im so thankful I took him to Candice for training. She taught me how to handle my dog. The issues I was having was that I could not lead him and she showed me the way. She is sweet and patient and very knowledgeable. I feel I made a deeper bond with my dog and am so grateful to have found this place :-)

Just completed the 5 week training with Candice. And could not be happier with the results. Prior to the training my dog pulled like a Mac truck on the leash and was very dog aggressive making it complete headache to take her anywhere. Now it has been very enjoyable taking her on walks or taking her with us when we got to the park etc. There has been several people comment on how well behaved she is or how chill she is. Candice was very accommodating with the schedule and very responsive whenever I had a question. Only regret I have is not doing this training a while back. I highly recommend K9 intuition.

Our appointment was at 10:15am, and while the website says the test is about 15 minutes, I expected it to run longer (you're working with animals, after all). We ended up being there until about 12:30pm, and honestly it was worth every minute. A few tips: -Definitely bring an SUV if you can, the last stretch of dirt road is steep, bumpy with potholes, and super dusty. -There are porta potties but no hand-washing station, so come prepared. -Shade is limited, so bring a hat, sunblock, and plenty of water. And wear boots you don't mind getting dusty! Now, about the trainers: anyone complaining about Paul really needs to get over themselves, lol. He's dry, sarcastic, and doesn't care about sugar-coating things- but he's good at what he does, and honestly I think he's hilarious. You're coming to a ranch to watch your dog tap into their primal instincts, not a spa retreat. It's gritty and authentic, exactly what you'd expect from someone teaching skills that working cowboys have relied on for generations. We started with Paul, then switched to Janna in a more private area since Taco was distracted by other dogs in the big pen. Once she had fewer distractions, she absolutely thrived! she went in three times total and passed her instinct test on her very first day! Janna was amazing with her. The way she spoke about dogs was so soft, thoughtful, and full of love. you can tell she really cares about each dog as an individual. Her patience and gentle approach made the whole experience feel special, and Taco clearly felt comfortable with her. And for anyone spreading misinformation about Janna's GoFundMe being a fraud: her facility in Malibu really did burn down in the fires. It's sad how quick people are to make assumptions without knowing the full story. Overall, Drummond Ranch was a fantastic experience. If you go in with realistic expectations, time runs differently here, it's dusty, hot, and not polished, you and your dog will have a blast. Taco sure did, and we'll definitely be back!
