I was also super skeptical about using an e collar, but Candice took the time to make sure I was comfortable and confident with how to properly use it with Bubba. Rocco was very reactive to cars, other dogs, cats, anything that moves fast he had to bark and chase. Not to mention obsession with tail chasing and extreme separation anxiety. The 4 week boarding training program was a perfect opportunity for Rocco to learn from Evelyne and for us as owners to better equip ourselves with training tactics. Evelyne was extremely open to our concerns during our initial consultation and created a plan specifically to his needs. Despite having significant experience with dog training, I learned just as much as my dog did during his time at Smart Dog Training School. They are extraordinarily dedicated not just to training your dog, but to their health and happiness. Steve's dedication to each and every dog and owner is blatant. I went from an uncontrollable dog to an attentive obedient one, and after boarding training was complete Steve came and helped me establish ground rules at my home to get me and my dog off on the right foot as we transitioned him to training with me. I felt like I was set up for success, and he answered every question I had and encouraged me along the way. I cannot recommend this place enough. They won't just train your dog, but they train you! And I learned even more about dog psychology and my specific dog's psychology and how to handle him so that we can continue to bond through training and beyond.

I have been taking him to Socal herding every Sunday for the past 6 weeks and I have noticed tremendous change in his behavior both there and at home. He is calmer, happier and more well-behaved. Ted and Chandra, who run SoCal Herding are incredible at what they do, mostly because they genuinely care about what they are doing and care about your pup having the most successful experience. He wasn't responding to anything we tried, mostly things we "learned" on YouTube. After a month we had to get a professional. In the first 10 minutes of a session with Ana we were astonished how incredibly well she read our dog. He was responding to her commands and already seemed to be understanding what he needed to do. She showed us many techniques which were improving his behavior every day. The best part was that she taught US as well as our puppy on the correct ways to interact with each other. We were able to built a respectful relationship with him. Months later now and he's the perfect pup! Responsive to our commands yet we have such a beautiful bond. They went from being a little out of control to actually listening and following commands, even with distractions. We've also used her for boarding, and it's such a relief knowing my dogs are in great hands and still keeping up with their training while I'm away. Ana is super patient, knowledgeable, and clearly loves what she does. My dogs bonded with her right away, and the progress has been night and day. Highly recommend to anyone who wants well behaved (and happy!) pups!
