When we arrived we were given hand sanitizer and Lysol and breeders had on masks so I appreciated the conscientious handling of things. She brought mother dog out to meet us first and then father dog who was also on premises. She answered my many questions patiently and really seems to be a kind hearted person. The dog we brought home is exactly what you would want. Great disposition, curious and not aggressive and learning so fast it's shocking. Pushing a bell to go out for potty on her first day at our house. The breeder provided some food to go home along with a littermate scented toy and towel. She asked questions from us and watched us interact with the dogs and checked to see how the puppy did on the ride home, I'm so happy to have found this wonderful breeder and the next addition to our family,!

I am extremely heartbroken and regret using a breeder who does not genetic test their dogs. Because Barbara does not, I lost my sweet longhaired mini dachshund at just under a year and a half old to a rare autoimmune disease that would have been avoided had she tested her dogs. At a year old, my baby boy started developing an issue where he would regurgitate up all his food. He was tested for and diagnosed with an extremely rare autoimmune disease, myasthenia gravis. It is essentially a disease that impacts the body's muscle ability to function. It had appeared dormant in him, but can manifest either later on, or straight after birth. Dogs with myasthenia gravis can have the potential to live long and healthy lifes, but only with constant monitoring of their eating habits. A dog with myasthenia gravis must be watched constantly and can not be allowed to eat or drink water if it is not in an upright position. That is the only way to ensure a healthy life. He lost eyelid function and could not close his eyes; he developed facial drooping, and the worst of all, he developed irreversible esophageal damage. He could not even eat a bug off the ground without regurgitating it back up. Because of the disease, I had to have him on a series of medications, management from a vet as well as a neurologist, and feed him solely in an upright position (for at least 20-30 minutes), lest he regurgitate his food. The issue behind regurgitation is aspiration pneumonia, which can be lethal at worst, and at best, require medication and hospitalization. This diagnosis and treatment cost over $25,000, as in the process of diagnosing myasthenia gravis, my poor boy developed pneumonia twice. I ultimately had no choice but to put him down when he developed pneumonia a third time and his body could not fight off the infection. He was suffering and no amount of oxygen therapy or antibiotics would have cured the infection. This disease would have been completely preventable had Barbara tested her dogs for genetic diseases. As a recessive gene, myasthenia gravis is extremely rare. However, it is passed to offspring when both parents are carriers for the gene. This means that two of her breeding dogs must be carriers for myasthenia gravis, and the likelihood of additional puppies being born with it are high. Save yourself the tens of thousands of dollars, time, and heartbreak and find a breeder that genetic tests their dogs. I am heartbroken every day of my life after losing my sweet boy. Anyone who has ever owned a dachshund knows that they are always close to you, and the bond you develop is incredible. It is heartbreaking to have lost my sweet boy at one and a half years old to a disease that could have been avoided if responsible breeding was done. Not only was it a severe financial constraint to have to pay over $25,000 to try to keep him alive, but I neglected myself as well, losing sleep, and constantly on edge and attempting to avoid him eating anything, lest he develop aspiration pneumonia. It was exhausting constantly living on edge, but that is the only way to give a dog with myasthenia gravis a long and healthy life. I'm heartbroken, exhaused, and finally starting to recover mentally after losing my sweet boy. Do not do the same; find a breeder that genetic tests their dogs, and ask to see the testing. Ethical breeders are happy to do so.

We were struggling trying to find ways to get his energy out but most importantly getting his brain stimulated (he is a very intelligent animal). I have been taking him to Socal herding every Sunday for the past 6 weeks and I have noticed tremendous change in his behavior both there and at home. He is calmer, happier and more well-behaved. Ted and Chandra, who run SoCal Herding are incredible at what they do, mostly because they genuinely care about what they are doing and care about your pup having the most successful experience. Our crew needed some very specific moves from the dogs and the sheep and Ted nailed it everytime, without even a warm up. Chandra worked with us before we needed the herding to get the sheep and horses to perform and again, each go was perfect. Their passion for handling the animals shows 100%. Overall this instruction performed as advertised, 10 weeks of classes and the training objectives…read morewere explained and demonstrated in a simple and comprehensive manner. As with all training, the most valuable tools obtained is the knowledge given, and using such, the amount of time spent training outside of the class will garner the most favorable results. Committing hours each week with the week's lesson, my boy learned and Kyle's good instruction resulted in acquiring the skills I sought. My puller learned to heel, which was the main goal I wanted to achieve. He also learned to stay on command, but his recall (come to me) still needs some work. We are still working on a stellar outcome, he's stubborn. The pros of the class; good training, the training is demonstrated using Kyle's dogs, nice email communications which recaps the week's previous training sessions. I felt the class cost was appropriate, at the date of this review, approximately $60 per class. The cons of the class; we met at Brand Park in Glendale, and several of the classes were interrupted by park goers which allowed their unleashed dogs to interact during sessions. Not necessarily Trained Goldens fault, and understanding we are in a public park, my suggestion would be to rope off the class area and place signs instructing others to respect the class time and restrain their unleashed dogs. A total of 10 signed up and by mid-session we were down to half that number and only one (myself) attended the final class. We had one incident during week two which might have marred the group. One of the dogs in the class bit the instructor and his response was less than restrained. Kyle was apologetic, and understandably upset by the bite, but the dynamic of the group seemed to dwindle in the weeks thereafter. Aside from this one incident, I found Kyle to offer great training suggestions, found him to be a patient and caring instructor and would recommend this business to any looking to train their dogs.
