For the most part I always seem to find what I need . They keep it stocked up. The organization and cleanliness of the store is good. This place has great employees! The last time I went in to buy dog food the girl was letting me know about the donations for the local dog shelter. Which I was happy to get information about. This time we went in pretty close to closing but Mia was still happy to help us! Not only did she dig out some plants we wanted from a fresh water tank, but she also helped us with applying a coupon! She was really friendly with kids too. Her and her coworker have my child a sticker and lollipops. It was a great way to end our night. My wife and I took our dog in for a shampoo, haircut, nails trimmed, and ear cleaning. The next day, our dog was shaking his head in a violent manner. Upon examining his ears, it was obvious his ears were not cleaned. The following day, we noticed he was infested with tick-like bugs all over his body. They may have been fleas. Or both. He never had this problem before since we are very attentive to his care, his needs. Where were they from? The pets that are brought in to pick out toys with their owners? The grooming area? The towels they use to dry the animals after a bath? I have no reason to believe the holding pens are disinfected. It was painful to watch him suffer. I am far from through with this problem. 2 things are certain: our dog has an appointment with the vet, and, we will NEVER bring our dog there again. read more

Go to a different place for grooming. Save yourself and your dog. don't waste your money here. My husband told them don't ever do a full body shave for our doodle. Just a haircut, an inch off will do, and for the matted areas they can shave (it's just in few areas). Did they listen? I guess it's easier for them to shave her off than do a proper haircut. Whoever worked today (9/30/25) these are not groomers , they butchered my dog, they did not groomed her. So my experience was awful. I dropped off my dog for grooming. It was getting so late in the day no one called me to tell me my dog was ready. I call and call yet no one answers the phone. I decided to head over and see if he was ready. Well he was and the lady at the check out said they had been calling me to come pick up my dog. I went to Petco over the weekend and it's sad to say it looks like they might be closing down. The store had lots of empty shelves, the shelves themselves were extremely dusty and discouraged me from wanting to buy anything. I use to choose Petco over PetSmart, but now it's the other way around. I go to PetSmart because it's clean and I wouldn't feel the need to place my pets toys in the washing machine before I give it to them because of how much dust it's collected. The store is very neglected and either need a new store manager or a new owner that cares. The service, I wouldn't know what to say I didn't have anyone approach me nor did I buy anything. My advice to Petco is come on guys you were my preferred store couple of years ago, I would love to go back and become a loyal customer again, but I can't when it's so dirty in there. read more

Online RX orders - don't do it. Petco.com attempts to "fax" the vet to verify the RX. But if the vet does not pick up their fax, or, does not have an online portal with Petco, you're out of luck. It will take 5 to 10 days for Petco to simply cancel your prescription. Good luck with your pet if they need the meds. And Petco vet services does not honor another Vet's prescription. My dog is scratching like a hound, and just needs a few pills. This was a ridiculous run around. If you think buying RX from Petco is going to be easy, just stop. Most vets don't sell meds. And most stores don't prescribe meds. Petco is just trying to force you to bring you pet to their vet center. Petco has one of the largest inventories of pet supplies in the USA. But they won't sell you a few pills for your dog, with a valid RX. It's BS. read more

I asked an associate for a specific item. associate scanned the tag the where the product was supposed to be, then said she will go check in the back. She came back a few minutes later saying that it was on a pallet of freight so it won't be on the shelf for a few days. In frustration I went a head and placed an order for the product online in hopes that another associate would get the product for me, but a few minutes later I received and email stating that they had canceled the order because they did not have the product. I called the customer care line and explained that they do have the product but no one wants to get it for me, and I asked if they could call the store and have someone get it... customer care just explained the return process to me.... Customer service was exceptionally good! Associates were all friendly and offered prompt service. One employee stood out to me and made sure I left with a solution to my problem. Their manager Ryan offered help and made me feel welcomed in their store. Usually, I'm a regular customer who comes in often for various things for my dogs. Ryan is usually there also, and he always greets me and asks if I need any help. I usually do, and he seems very happy to give it. He's very knowledgeable and efficient and makes my shopping g experience great! Last week I had a slight issue when I stopped by and was interested in purchasing a new tank for my fish. I was set on one I saw online, but when I came in it was unfortunately sold out. Ryan quickly said he'd double check the back room and their computer to see if he could find it. He couldn't find it, but he did find a similar item that I was able to use my coupon on. He was really knowledgeable with almost all of the products. On the way out I mentioned I was interested in switching my beloved Golden Retriever over to Origin dog food. I was unsure, but Ryan explained the ingredients and the benefits and I quickly made my selection. My dog loved the food and my fish is content in his new tank! Don't take your dog to the groomer here. I took my golden doodle two weeks ago and while yes, I admit, he was matted in some places, NOT HIS WHOLE BODY, the young girl that did his cut said he would be cut with a 10 which I agreed to. When he came out he looked like he was completely shaved off and had no hair left whatsoever. That was not a 10. All I could see was his bare skin. I started watching YouTube videos about dog groomers shaving matted dogs and they did not look as shaved as my poor Dog. I know I was a neglectful dog owner by not brushing his hair every other day, but she completely shaved his hair and didn't even leave a a little bit of hair left. Will definitely not ever take him back there. Also, their prices have really increased over time. I ended up paying $150 for a job I could have done at home because all she did was completely shave his hair off. read more

This Petco is pretty good, workers are friendly and I adopted my dog Honey here. I will give the store 4 stars, but I wanted to post about the rescue Halfway To Home that has dog adoptions here. I'm concerned that they do NOT care for the dogs as they should at Halfway to Home. Like I said, we got Honey there about a month ago and we love her so much. She is an anxious dog and has made tremendous progress. We noticed she had an ear infection and we took her to a vet. It is costing us over $200 after she gets treated and we get antibiotics. She also has a tooth that needs to come out soon. The ear infection was chronic and very swollen. All I have to say about this is, what is Halfway to Home doing to care for these animals? Are they just leaving them uncared for until someone adopts them? What measures are they taking to make sure the dogs are relatively healthy and generally in good health? Are they putting up dogs for adoption knowing the dogs have medical issues that will cost owners hundreds/thousands of dollars? I don't regret the adoption, but these conditions need to be KNOWN to potential owners. Don't leave them in the dark because there could be a health issue that is life-threatening that could be treated if the owners know about it. read more

I'm consistently checked out by rude employees who can't take a second to smile and an obvious manager who does not care. This was one thing, but today I find out that the gentleman who helps me fish no longer works in that department. I was a little hesitant to bring Waffles to the groomers again because of a bad experience. My boyfriend had taken him to another Petco location in OC to get groomed before and upon picking him up, he was informed that Waffles refused to have his teeth brushed. I found that odd because he was usually pretty compliant before. After that particular visit, Waffles was extremely mouth shy and would try to hide his face in a corner or under a chair every time he saw you approaching with a toothbrush. I think whoever groomed him then must have been really forceful or rough. We resorted to grooming him ourselves for awhile because I couldn't stand the thought of another person potentially hurting him; however, grooming a dog while sporting a pregnant belly can be cumbersome so I thought I'd give the groomers one more shot. I spoke to Amanda on the phone about questions I had regarding their grooming services and I believe Tawni was the one who actually groomed him. Both girls were sweet. I dropped him off at 8 a.m. and was able to pick him up at 11 a.m. I asked Tawni to try and brush his teeth and warned her that he was mouth shy. Upon picking him up, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that she was able to brush his teeth! She noted that you could really tell that he didn't want his teeth brushed, but he never tried to bite her. The latter isn't a surprise though because Waffles doesn't really have an aggressive disposition to begin with. For $40, my corgi was clean, silky, and smelled great! He appeared happy and not traumatized, which makes the whole visit worth every penny. read more

I had a bad experience with a single employee, but judging from other reviews, it seems her attitude falls in line with a disappointing pattern of employee behavior. Let's call her Barb. As I examined the betas in their small cups, I noticed a dead one. I grabbed the cup and presented it to Barb saying, "I think this fish is dead." She grabbed the cup out of my hand, gave me a begrudging "thanks," then promptly sped off. A little while later, I was taking pictures of fish because I thought they were cute. I was not using flash, nor was I tapping on the glass or doing anything to be a nuisance. Barb approached me from behind and bluntly stated, "You can't take pictures or videos of our animals." This rule was never made clear to me. I frequently take pictures of the animals and there are no signs expressing this rule. I laughed nervously and apologized. She grimaced and walked away. I find this policy ridiculous. I also think that there should be signage indicative of this policy. Lastly, I did not appreciate the rude attitude of said employee. Took my dog in to be groomed. Let the groomer know that my dog has a reaction to being shaved if you don't leave the guard on. After a day I realize the underneath of his tail is completely shaved and raw. Go in and talk to manager (Anthony). After making us wait over 15 minutes he comes out says I talked to the groomer she says his tail was matted(not true) and that I had said it was ok to shave (also not true!) when I tell Anthony that's 100% not what happened he basically gives me the oh well!! No apology, no offer of a refund. He did give me a discount on the medicine I had to buy!!! He told me they would pay for a vet visit just let him know and he'd meet me there. Had a grooming appointment for my dog for 2 weeks, they decided to reschedule me since groomer called out instead of honoring bookings & making sure they have enough personnel to cover their already booked appointments. Always an issue with getting additional services or anything regarding to Grooming since always over booked, so if overbooked, shouldn't they have more people working to allow more bookings? Doesn't make sense how they function with being overbooked but not having enough workers. ¡TERRIBLE! .... not going to use them going forward. read more
