I am beyond grateful for the care Apollo received at this veterinary clinic. He needed emergency TPLO surgery, and from the moment we arrived, the staff treated us with such compassion, patience, and genuine love during an incredibly stressful time. What touched my heart the most was how the staff saw Apollo as the big cuddly bear he truly is, rather than a threat because of his size. At other clinics, I've felt the fear and hesitation toward large dogs, which always made me anxious. Seeing how comfortable he was, and how clearly loved he was by the staff, brought me so much peace and reassurance. Whatever happened to the customer is right and knows their pets. A vet is to help care for a pet when asked, however we have watched our dog go downhill for weeks now. Dog has tumors in multiple spots, diagnosed with cancer, throwing up, losing weight drastically, couldn't go to the bathroom pee or poop. Panting non stop. And acting confused. Called they gave us a quote of 1000+ to put him to sleep. Got there Were treated by the most respectful and understanding staff ever, waited two hours just to be told by Dr. WRIGHT who called my father and 15 year old son a piece of shit and nothing was wrong with our dog despite while on the video call with my sonand despite the heavy breathing and hard to breathe from my dog. They wanted more expensive treatment we could not do. Let me just say piece of shit dont pay to out down a dog. They drop them In the middle of the desert of thats not us. Were gonna wait until Monday and when he doesnt make it our money will be put elsewhere where hes more comfortable. Never bring your pets here. And steer clear from dr. I am so thankful for the care my dog, Domino, received at this animal hospital. We came in during a very scary situation when his eyeball was sticking out and he needed surgery. From the moment we arrived, the staff was kind and supportive. I especially want to thank Amber at the front desk, who helped us by creating a clear and manageable invoice so we could get everything taken care of financially. I brought my little guy, Kash in yesterday due to a random issue with nonstop sneezing that came on very suddenly. Even with us never being there before, they made sure we were seen same day! Kash is a typical chihuahua with little man syndrome sometimes but the techs were SO gentle with him. I was also a few dollars short due to it being a Sunday of course, they manipulated the bill, removed a few non super essential things so that I could afford to treat my Kashy Boy same day! This morning he is back to normal and the sneezing has stopped. He's sneezed a couple times throughout the night but it was just one or two sneezes instead of the 40-60 second attacks. took my dog in for urgent care, and Dr. Wright told me he couldn't see her until later that night because he was in surgery. I agreed to leave her overnight after being told I would receive updates the next morning. Unfortunately, I never got any. When I finally called around noon the next day, I was told that no surgery or treatment had been done yet, even though my dog had been in pain for hours. When I brought her back a few days later because her staples were coming undone, I was told that there was "nothing they could do" because she might have an infectionyet they still opened her wound and sold me medication to sedate her instead of treating the actual problem. I later took her to another veterinarian, who found that her wound was never properly cleaned, she had dead tissue, infection, and unnecessary staples in areas that didn't need them. The new vet also said her drains were incorrectly placed, which caused her even more complications. I spent over $3,000 at AV Veterinary Center and was left with a dog in worse condition than when she first went in. She's now been in and out of hospitals because of their mistakes. This clinic completely failed my dog. The lack of care, professionalism, and compassion was unbelievable. I hope sharing this helps prevent other families from going through the same heartbreak. read more

If I could give this establishment 0 stars, I absolutely would. My dog suffered a severe laceration on her paw today. Being it is Sunday, I went here, one of the closest local vets that I knew provided emergency care. Upon arrival, I saw an empty lobby and 2 cars in the parking lot. I quickly called to ensure my dog could be seen and was surprised to hear the lobby was at max capacity and was referred to another vet across town. In this phone call alone, no one asked any information about my dog, her injury, her condition, etc. Hours passed and I had called again as every other vet in town was either closed or had too many patients. I was told to try coming in around 4pm with little to no guarantee we would even be seen. Once again, myself and my injured dog made our way to this establishment, only to be told they have had 0 room for walk ins all day and we had to try again another day. No questions, no concern, and quite frankly 0 compassion for my pet whom I was trying to treat as soon as possible. Fast forward to now, my dog has since needed emergency surgery from another veterinarian and could have suffered permanent damage to her paw if she was not seen sooner. The fact that this hospital asked 0 questions about my dogs condition, especially given that they are an 'emergency hospital' is truly astounding to me. We were turned around a total of 3 times in the span of one day. For this reason, I refuse to give this establishment any of my money. For those that truly care about your pets, please reconsider taking them here and don't be afraid to explore other more compassionate options in our area. Do better AV Veterinary Center. read more

Warning: Please think twice before trusting AV Veterinary Center or Dr. E. Russel Wright. I brought my dog to AV Veterinary Center on October 24, 2025, for urgent medical help. Dr. Wright told me he was in surgery and couldn't see my dog until later that night. I agreed to let my dog stay overnight after he assured me that his staff would give me updates in the morning. By noon the next day, I still hadn't received a single update and when I finally called, I was told her surgery hadn't even been done yet. My poor dog had been left untreated and in pain for over 24 hours. When I finally brought her back a few days later because her staples were coming undone, Dr. Wright claimed there was nothing he could do because she "might have an infection" yet he still proceeded to open her up again and sell me medication just to keep her sedated. Out of frustration and concern, I took my dog to another veterinary hospital, where I learned that her wounds had never been properly cleaned, she had dead tissue and infection, unnecessary staples, and drains placed in the wrong areas. The new vet told me this was clear malpractice and neglect. I spent a handful for treatment that made my dog worse and caused her unnecessary suffering. Since then, she's been in and out of hospitals because of Dr. Wright's negligence. This entire experience has been heartbreaking and has destroyed my trust in this clinic. Please be cautious before bringing your pet here my family and I are now dealing with the emotional and financial consequences of their poor care. read more

We took Our Chihuahua mix to Our regular veterinarian a month ago for an open sore that was concerning, but they charged us a good amount of money, and three weeks later, the sore looked the same or worse. So, We decided to take our Chihuahua to AV Veterinary Center two weeks ago. Dr. Harris was honest and advised us on the best approach to the issue, and we are glad we saw Dr. Harris because it was a form of cancer. Now our Chihuahua is doing well. They gave me an appointment for 9am to neuter my dog. They sent me a confirmation to arrive 20 minutes before and when i arrive the place is not yet open. I called multiple times since i had to take time off work. Their website says they open at 8am and yelp says they open at 10am. Very disappointing. read more

After sharing his xrays and test results with 2 other vets, they confirmed his cancer was malignant and not something that should have been operated on. I have been to this vet a few times in the past for the care of my cats, Gato and Thanos, and my 1 y/o husky, Lady. My husband and I have also attempted to bring my other cat, Luna, who was in respiratory distress, and she was turned away because they "are not an emergency facility, and there is no veterinarian on site after hours"; yet on Yelp and their website page, they claim to provide trauma and emergency services. Luna passed away. Last Monday 6/3, we took my beloved baby girl, Lady, to this vet for vomiting x1day. They did bloodwork and X-rays which showed that she swallowed a nail. Dr. Wright recommended an enterectomy/exploratory surgery to remove said nail and suggested a spay since Lady was already under anesthesia. According to them, the surgery went well and she was doing well up until the next morning, Lady started vomiting dark blood, labored breathing, and fever. By this time, Dr. Harris told us they would keep her for observation and give her supplemental oxygen in an enclosed area. The following days, they continued antibiotics, pain medication, anti nausea medications, IV fluids, and supplemental oxygen. On 6/6, they gave her anti inflammatory and antihistamine medications for her neck swelling, and supplemental oxygen since she was still having labored breathing. She stayed at their facility until 6/7 Friday when they repeated X-rays and found fluid lining her lungs. They recommended fluid removal (thoracentesis) so they removed 500ml, she still had labored breathing throughout the day and was still dependent on supplemental oxygen. They did a second thoracentesis, removing 150 later that day at around 7pm. They said she was breathing better and was weaned off oxygen, they said she's okay to discharge and go home. At approx 10pm we brought Lady home, about 20 min later, I noticed her tongue was blue, along with labored breathing. We immediately got in the car to go back to the vet, but our Lady died in our Subaru's trunk, alone, scared, and in severe respiratory distress. I don't know why they would discharge my dog if, clearly, she was not stable to go home since she died 40 min after discharge. I can't imagine why they wouldn't keep her one extra night to observe her, especially after two procedures where airway and breathing are affected. Even more so because we expressed that her safety and wellbeing are our priority, not the cost - what's ANOTHER night at this point? I can't help but feel that they were negligent and irresponsible for discharging her unsafely. Maybe they purposely discharged her so she would die out of their care/facility. I would've made her comfortable at home and held her until her last moment if I knew that was their plan. Losing Lady that night was, without a doubt, the greatest pain of my life and I miss her every minute of each day. Another pet parent in the lobby told us that we could talk to the staff about a cash price; he mentioned that he was able to get almost half off of his bill. A week later, after various requests to speak with Robert or Lilian about the bill, Robert gave us a hilarious 5% discount. They literally don't care about you or your pet. read more

I am very late to update this but realized I needed to - what I wrote when I wrote it was true and it was deserving of five stars but it went to hell quickly!!! I never updated this likely because I was a mess and so beyond upset and wasn't even thinking about Yelp When I went to check in on Luna she was covered in her own pee (stained her white fur and had to be sent home with a special shampoo) and her IV was blown ! When I lost my mind about it they said the doctor wasn't in I said okay when will he be back they hemmed and hawed then said well he is sleeping - I said funny because I am certain I'm paying thousands for 24 hour care that or what this said ! In a matter of two hours she was magically released and then they also def charged me way more the estimate and kept trying to add things on Needless to say I have never been back - it was horrible (and very costly making the situation even worse) I realize this was four years ago and I hope and pray things have changed as I said I have not been back and wouldn't ever go back Only realized this needed changed because I ran into Selena again at a new vet and instantly remembered her from this night and I told her how thankful for her I was but how horrible everything g else went and I was glad to see she had moved on and seeing her at the new vet brought me some hope and so far they have been fabulous so no I would not recommend this place but I have another place I def would ! read more

Waited over 2hrs with only a couple people ahead of us, with easy stuff like staple removal or bladder infection. They finally called us and took our dog back for the Doctor to Check her. She had a bad rash. 30 minutes later they never brought her back. I started getting very worried and asked why they never brought her back and was told the nurse was coming out to talk to us. We are still waiting 30 more minutes and no one has come out. They said she needed shots and they needed our authorization, but no one has come out. The doctor has not once come out and spoke to us. Just kept sending a tech out. Terrible care. Ended up going to a different place way on East side. read more

This place has been great with our pets, we had a pitbull that was spayed here, another pitbull that had a tooth extraction, and a third dog that had to have laceration surgery. Would definitely recommend AV Veterinary Center! They saved my puppies life and I'm forever grateful to Dr. Harris and the staff. I can not thank them enough. My puppy was seen at another local vet for a swollen leg and was prescribed a medication that caused vomiting which turned into aspiration pneumonia. She started declining quickly in a 24 hour period. By the time I got her to AV vet she was in critical condition. They kept her on oxygen with breathing treatments and medications. I've been here for service help twice, about a year ago my baby girl Calico Audrey 2 passed away and we had her cremated. All the staff was polite and the place was clean. We went there late around midnight. The second time we went there was August 24th, 2022 around 2am. We were rushing our cat Cloud because he was dying on us, my bf kept trying to do compressions while I drove but when we got there it was too late he had already passed away. We were so heartbroken and crying and the staff that helped us were very sympathetic and understanding of our pain. We lost another family member that morning and it was awful, but what helped was that they were very nice and helpful in our time of need. They even gave us a Lil bottle of his hair my bf had requested to remember him by. They also printed his Lil paws on a card that was very sweet. The cost was $319 of the cremation we went with. I picked up his ashes today. His ashes were in a wooden box that came in a blue velvet bag. (A name tag for the box) We also got a paw print in clay (I think) and a certificate. read more

You did not take River into the clinic until a test for parvo disease showed negative. I love how you care for the pets you had in. I am so grateful for the doctor recommendations. I brought my cat in on a Saturday night with a cut paw. The front office staff and the vet tech were great - No complaints there. The waiting area was clean and attractive, and I was hoping that my experience would end up being better than the ones I read in reviews. The tech came in and gave me the info - I told him to go ahead with some of what was on the list and to take some off the bill. No problem. I waited in the room and in not too long of a waiting time, the tech came back with my cat. I asked him some questions and then asked when I would see the vet. He seemed surprised by my request, but I persisted. Isn't that typical, meeting with the vet, usually before and after a procedure? I already hadn't met with him before, but I insisted now. Well, this doctor came out and practically barked at me, "What's your question?" I said I had a few, and mentioned the things that the vet tech had told me. He immediately contradicted me, without explanation.. Practically yelling, "No peel! It's cut, cut!!!" Okay, that's not what the vet tech told me, but obviously I wasn't going to get more out of this guy who seemed like he would leave me if I didn't keep his attention. So I asked about the after care, to which he again contradicted the vet tech and the paperwork I had in front of me. He said something about one week, while the paperwork said 2-3 days. After the vet answered and before I could get my thoughts together, he left. I don't think I"m explaining this experience well.. But I have NEVER had such a negative feeling for a vet in my life. He was rude, dismissive, and unprofessional. I grabbed my cat and left. If he's this rude to people, do you really want him caring for your beloved pets? Not I. I'll drive to the San Fernando Valley next time one of my pets needs care. If it's a true emergency, please let this not be the only 24-hour vet within a quick driving distance. read more

Our one year old dog was hit by a truck on 8/30 and we rushed her to AV Veterinary Center where she required a femoral head osectomy and sacroiliac fracture repair with screws. Approximately a week after surgery she began physical therapy at Zen Den, which is affiliated with AV Vet Center, and today marked her final day of therapy because she has recovered almost 100% in just 2 months! Attached are her xrays and what she looked like when she came home on 9/2 and a picture taken last night. I just called to make an appointment for the second in the series of my puppy vaccines because this is the vet who gave him his first vaccine, and I thought it best to complete them here, even though it is far from my house. The receptionist told me that they had a new policy, whereby they refuse to give vaccines to "new" patients without getting paid for an unnecessary exam. I pointed out that he wasn't a new patient, as they had administered his first vaccine set, having already provided the Client ID which she had no problem locating in her computer, under my puppy's name. She still refused to give my puppy his 2nd shot, repeating the phrase "it's just our policy" to my pointing out the obvious contradiction that my puppy was not a new patient, and had started with them before the policy. I can well afford the $25 for the unnecessary exam, but I have a vet of my own, and I can't stand veterinarians who find ways to extort money from responsible pet owners. I was just looking to drive out of my way to keep my puppy's shots consistent, but I won't be blackmailed. Also, the original paperwork has a note from them to get the second shot 12/7/19, and the receptionist said it was due 12/12/19. I asked why another vet had told me that the second in the series of puppy shots could only be given one day early, or 4 days late. The receptionist informed me that the timing of all puppy shots is subjective, and differs among every veterinarian. I'm not feeling the confidence that this is an accurate statement. Either they need to be on a schedule, or they don't. The receptionist also tried to hide behind liability issues while attempting to extort more money, saying my puppy may have a bad reaction to their vaccine, even though they already administered his first vaccine. I'm starting to see why Parvo is such a problem in the AV. I would pass on this Vet. The comment implies I am a new patient who does not understand the policy as it was explained to me.
