They are always willing to do nail trims but they are not a very friendly bunch to say the least. Last time here as nail sander was on high speed and hurt my dog along with hurting his leg/shoulder while being held so tight...:( Always call before you take your Dog in to this business because they do not abide by store hours listed online and you will make the trip for nothing only to find a note on the door or simply just closed which I have done now a couple of times now. 3 strikes your out. I visited Baxter's a few days ago to set up an appointment after a friend--who also has Rottweilers--highly recommended them. I explained that my dog is one year old, very playful, and can sometimes be misunderstood as aggressive because of his breed. I specifically asked if he would need a muzzle, and I was told no--only if he got nervous around the blow dryer. Today When I arrived for the appointment, the atmosphere immediately felt cold and unwelcoming. The same front desk associate I had spoken to before gave me a dismissive attitude. My dog tends to get anxious in new environments, so I put his muzzle on just to be cautious. As someone came out from the back, my dog got startled and barked once, and without any attempt to approach him, calm him, or even assess the situation, the staff member said, "Oh, he has to have a muzzle on. We can't take him--I don't do mean dogs." This was extremely disappointing and felt like a judgment based purely on his breed and appearance rather than his actual behavior. As a Cuban and Black dog owner, I also couldn't help but feel there was a layer of bias in the way I was treated--like they simply didn't want to be bothered. I left feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome. I truly hope Baxter's can improve their customer service and learn to treat all dogs (and their owners) with understanding and respect, rather than making assumptions. read more

I love taking my dog here! The staff are very friendly to me and my dog and she looks wonderful after she gets groomed. My dog is a husky and they know exactly how to treat/wash her fur and clip her nails. Whenever I call they can usually get me in within a week which is great! read more

I was nervous about bringing my Shih Tzu puppy in for her first grooming appointment back in August, but when I arrived I was greeted with a warm welcome and reassured my puppy would be ok. I didn't know what to expect or what type of hair cut to ask for, as this was my first time taking a pet to a groomer, but I trusted them and I'm so glad I did. When I picked up my pup I was so ecstatic to see what a great hair cut she had gotten and I loved the bandana they put on her. If you have a schnauzer do not take your schnauzer here for their cut. I made the mistake of bringing my schnauzer to baxters for his gromming. When i dropped him off i was very clear and simple with how i wanted him groomed, dont cut his beard or his eyebrows only give him a #2 on his body. Well they did exactly what i asked them not to do. Now im happy with the fact that my pup is comfortable but he has uneven eyebrows and they cut his beard. Which i explained i dont want cut. I will not take my dog back to this establishment. They are only good for washing my Chihuahua. The worst part is what these people charged me(60$$$$$$$$$$$$$) for a wash and a #2cut. so funny because i was quoted 50$ depending upon my pups temperament ( which was not an issue becuase i was informed he was delightful) and if I were to get an actual Schnauzer cut. Which I did not get nor did I ask for. I was charged $10 more than the quoted price for a service I didn't even get. I suggest if you have a Schnauzer do not utilize Baxter's. They will rip you off and charge you more than they quoted you when you first asked how much it would be to groom a Schnauzer with this company. read more

Was nervous about taking my little pup to the groomers for the first time just because I didn't know how he'd handle it and I had never taken one of my dogs to the groomers BUT Baxter's was great! This was my first time going here, but a friend recommended it..... Thankfully they were able to take me as a walk-in, because I didn't think to call ahead. My dog was getting bad, as we hadn't been to a groomer in a bit. The groomer (Heather) did an amazing job though. Buster (my dog) had gotten extremely matted, and a little gross smelling, as he likes to run around and play in nothing but mud for some reason ‍ I almost didn't recognize him when I got back to pick him up. I've been bringing my small Chihuahua/Terrier mix here over the last three years and initially was happy with the service my dog received at Baxter's. However, over the last year the customer service has declined and has become unacceptable. I took my dog in for a bath today at 9 AM and picked her up at 2:00 PM. Why does it take 5 hours to bathe a small dog?! The worst part is I called to ask how much longer my dog would be, just to be told "about 10-15 minutes", which in reality turned into another hour. I'm EXTREMELY disappointed with Baxter's and would NOT recommend this place to anyone. They overbook appointments and if you want to make an appointment, it literally has to be a month before. The wait here is ridiculous and not worth it! read more

Was great until it wasn't. Admittedly there was a pretty big hiccup on my dad's part the one time (was late to pick up, maybe 15-30 min past closing, can't remember exactly; and there was some issues with payment, so my dad had to go back and fix that the next day), but I don't think it warranted what happened with the next appointment. Tl;dr: If I'm doing something wrong and you'd like for me to not come back, please say it to my face. As far as I was aware we had no issues (about my dog, and I do ask, or anything else) except on the day of the incident above. Even after the incident no one tried to communicate with me or my dad, so we're thinking everything's fine. I'm a little anxious though because yeah, I did feel really bad about what happened. So the next appointment, dropped my dog off at ~9am. No calls or updates throughout the day, which is normal by my experience. I expected to get a call between 2-3pm since that was the usual, got nothing, so I try to call around 3:15-30pm because it's almost closing (according to Google). I got the "call cannot be completed as dialed" several times. Kept trying, Googled to see of there were alternative numbers, eventually I managed to get through. Cool. I'm told still not done. Since it's almost closing I asked my dad to go so he's right nearby when they finish (I'm working still, can't go myself). Still no updates or anything after this. It's already past closing so I'm pretty worried and am calling for updates because I have no idea what's going on. In my worried state I called 43 times and got the "call cannot be completed as dialed" each time. Had a thought, then made 1 call using my work phone. The call went through without issue. They were home roughly 20-30 min later. It was maybe 5pm, no later than 5:30pm. Honestly, never mind keeping my dog from 9-5pm since okay, they could have been swamped, but I just don't get very great vibes from that 43 to 1 thing. I can only think of one reason why my cell phone couldn't get through but my work phone could. In any case, message received and mission accomplished. Even if I'm wrong about the phone call issue, the experience I had with this last appointment was awful. Definitely not going back, and I get the feeling they're secretly happy about that. All good, we'll find another place. I can't give half-stars else I'd give a 2.5, but 3 stars feels fair enough to me. It really was great until it wasn't. read more

Can't say enough about this place. We rescued our Yorkie Sadie 5 weeks ago. We searched out several groomers for her and found this place because of the reviews. So we set her appt up so Sadie would get her hair cut while my roommate is getting her nails done at a close by salon. She dropped her off filled out the paperwork. Sadie went to the groomer with no problem after she figured out she wasn't at the vets. When my roommate was done with her appointment she walked over and Sadie was done and ready to go. He is a small old Maltese, weighs just about 5 lbs and the hair cut he got is horrendous! I've attached a photo with highlighted areas, they literally took a chunk out of his leg. Awful job!
