I've never personally taken my pets here like ever but I recently lost my dog and I got a call from this hospital claiming to have her, they stated that she had broken her femur bone and needed emergency surgery, of course I panicked and asked how much it would cost and they said 1300 dollars, I decided to calm down and asked them to send me photos of my dog and the address to this place, the guy immediately hung up and never called back, my mom ended up calling the hospital again and asked about them claiming to have my dog, another person answered this time and claimed that they didn't even have a dog or any vet that would be able to give her surgery, so I don't know how you managed to leave ur front desk so unattended that some random guy was able to call me talking about having my dog, or if one of your staff is just sick and money hungry. read more

0 stars. I wasn't going to write a review after our first dog passed away after a visits to Smiths veterinary but after the second one did, I'm definitely writing one. The first one was a pit we paid $700 for her lumps on her ribs to be tested (not even removed or anything) they said they weren't cancerous or dangerous and she was healthy. Not even a month later she passed away in her sleep. Not only that but the receptionist lady took my moms card from the front desk and after this transaction she had two more unknown transactions. Second dog mini schnauzer we took him in for a check up and shots in August said everything was good. Took him to emergency vet a few days ago he had to be put down due to failing kidneys and possible cancer in his lungs. This could have been caught sooner. My question is what they heck are they doing here if they aren't helping or at-least properly diagnosing. I'm not saying save our dogs from dying but DO YOUR JOB AND DIAGNOSE-PROPERLY!!! I met Dr Garha at an urgent clinic when my 17 year old morkie became unwell. He gave me sound medical advice and continued to follow up. When it was clear my dog had reached the end of her life Dr Garha was nice enough to invite me to his clinic for help. It was a very hard day for me as I came alone with my pet and in that time Dr Garha sat with me and shared his condolences. It was a small gesture but truly helped me at the time. All of the staff at Smith were helpful and understanding, I know it must be a difficult part of the job. The care they showed me and my pet is very appreciated. My 15 year dog is suffering because they won't refill her meds unless I come in for labs. I told them I can come Friday could you please refill her meds they said unfortunately no. My experience with Smith's Veterinary Hospital has left a lot to be desired. On 12/08/2022, I brought my dog here after she had gone several days with decreased appetite and her stomach had began to distend. I was told that she needed surgery and was quoted approximately $2,700. I paid 1/2 up front, and the remainder upon picking her up (same day). Her suture removal was scheduled for 14 days later. I received 2 follow up calls and each time I told them she still wasn't eating and I was struggling to get her to take her pill-form antibiotics. 11 days after her surgery, with no improvement, I realized I had to take her back and was charged a $55 visit fee. The total of that visit was $330+ even though I told them it didn't make sense to charge a visit fee since this IS her follow up visit just 3 days earlier because she was deteriorating before my very eyes. When Sasha was released, there was no discharge paperwork. They brought her back to the car after 10 mins claiming to have given her subcutaneous fluids and an IV antibiotic injection. I asked if she was not supposed to stay for observation and was told no. Sadly, she still has no appetite and I am not entirely sure anything was even done. I am disheartened because to me, she is not a pet. She is my fur baby. And though I am not skilled in veterinary medicine, I have been a licensed healthcare professional for 15+ years and in human healthcare this would be unethical treatment. Now, after spending over $3,000 in less than 2 weeks, I am forced to seek medical care for her elsewhere. I wouldn't wish this on anyone and I will never bring her back here. read more

Showed up for my appt to get a rabies shot for my dog. The tech took her to the back and immediately brought her back. Said she hasn't been seen in a while and it's against the law to give the shot without the exam. No doctor in that day so I left. A 30 mile drive for nothing. I called the LA County Animal office and asked why it was illegal to get a shot without an exam and they said it is not illegal..The tech absolutely lied to me. We first tried Smith Veterinary Hospital in May. We took our puppy there for her first shots. It was okay then, but we had to wait in the heat for quite a while to get the shots. We had made an appointment, but they didn't get that fact on their schedule, so we had to just wait as a shot clinic client. Then, today we went back for the next in the series of puppy shots, having also made an appointment for a general check up (complete with stool sample). We got there early, called right in, since we can't go in (Covid). We had to wait for nearly an hour in our car with a 14 week old puppy! Our appointment was at 9:20 am and the vet didn't even show up for work until 9:30! Not good! We won't be going back. read more

This office is wonderful. Caring staff and love the vets. They did knee repair surgery, which was extremely pricey, but the surgeon came in to do both surgeries. Due to covid they have drive up appts but run on schedule with short wait times. The only negative is calling the office. I've waited on hold 25 minutes, even when I call to notify I've arrived for an appointment. This has happened many times but I'm guessing due to covid they have a limited staff. read more

I have been going to Smith vet for many years. All the staff and doctors here truly care about the pets and also care about the pet owners. I always feel valued when I go in there and I know my two cats really appreciate the thoroughness of service that we get. The new facility is really clean, very organized and a wonderful layout. There's even a special room for you to say goodbye to your pet when it's their time to cross rainbow bridge which is amazing. They give you plenty of time for you to say goodbye to your baby in a peaceful quiet place. I will continue to come here for as long as I am around and have cats. read more

The initial estimate for everything was high (which I kind of expected most veterinarian visits are pricey regardless) and I was going to just pay for the visit and seek another vets office but one of the vets herself came out and talked with me and ended up making it a lot more affordable. This became my puppy's vet after the awesome care i got with them. Took care of my puppy's tear in her right hind paw and was sent home nicely bandaged, with pain meds and antibiotics. I loved my old Vet that used to be at this address. The new Vet that I assume bought this hospital is two or three times more expensive than the last. The last vet would let me comfort my dogs when getting vaccinated or other procedures so they weren't so stressed, this new clinic does not let you see or be with your pets when when the procedures are done. I did not even get to see the ex-ray they said was taken. I don't know if the vaccines were really given or if an ex-ray was really done. My visit for Lab, ex-ray, and vaccine was $429.00. The previous vet charged a little more than half this amount for spay and Hernia surgery and lab work. This vet is very expensive and I will be looking for a vet that lets me be with my dogs during any procedures. During my visit I noticed that in two hours there were only two customers and the clinic had about 6-7 employees, That is a lot of payroll for just three dogs. read more

Brought our dog to Smith in Lancaster for spleen removal. Dr open him up in surgery to remove Spleen said he was unable to remove mass or his spleen? said do to my dogs age he gave him a week to survive. 2 years forward I'm back at a different veterinarian and they can not explain why spleen was not removed. It's obviously not malignant if 2 years have gone by. Smith missed diagnosed my dog and charged me for surgery. I would never take my dog to this place. Dog owners be aware!! read more
