My senior dog needs a dental. When I called to try to get some idea of the cost, they said they wouldn't do it without an office visit. You have to pay for your office visit before you go in $65. They informed me she needed two or three teeth pulled, which I expected. She needed some antibiotics and a senior blood panel. $650 for just that. Then they quoted me at least $1600 for the dental! That is $2300! This place is not in a good neighborhood. I usually go to a vet in Ventura in a very nice location and this is more expensive than them. Unbelievable trying to rip off the community. We have been going to Boulevard for a dozen years, back when Dr. Ruppert was the owner and doctor. Boy, lately, something is wrong. I noticed on a recent appointment that the front office girls are all different. Also, when I called to talk to the doctor, or leave a message, to get a different form of the medication they gave me, I never got a call back from anyone. I had to go elsewhere. This is one of the only hospitals in the Antelope Valley- if not the only one- that carries a 3 year DHPP k-9 vaccine. As a former RVT, I am tired of having to over vaccinate my dogs every year when it is not necessary. The AVMA needs to come out with new guidelines for vaccines because even a 3 year is probably too frequent. I was very grateful to be able to walk in without an appointment and get my dog vaccinated with the three year vaccine. I will be bringing my other dogs here for their vaccines as well. I appreciated the spacious waiting room with plenty of seating and the competent staff. My regular vet is also in Lancaster but I would be perfectly comfortable bringing my pets here for medical care as well. Prices were reasonable as well. Thank you, Boulevard Vet Hospital. read more

The one lady at the right of the reception desk has terrible terrible customer service. She does not know how to speak to people. No compassion whatsoever. They always call the night before and say they are short staffed. They asked us to drop off our puppy off at 10am because they only had one doctor and they would keep her until the doctor was available , we got there and they tried to tell us we were early and that the appointment was at 10.30... lies!! around ten dogs were already in the waiting area all barking at each other however the grouchy receptionist says you can't wait in your car. When I got there, they did not take her, like they said... around 25 mins later, they called us back and told me the doctor would see her and call me. If she wasn't limping , I wouldn't have even left her in the madhouse. They called around 2:30 stating that they felt she needed an xray. Around 3:30, I said, you know what?! Enough is enough, I'm going to go get her. I arrived and the same grouch, non customer service rep goes to the back "to see if my pup was ready" comes back and sits down with no explanation. I had to ask her, where is she?? Oh the doctor said he's still doing the xray... an hour and a half???! She said, she'll need 40 more minutes.. they had my pup from 10:30- 5:30, who knows where. No bathroom break. She peed for 5 minutes when she got home and the tech brought her to me with her leash in shreds. I actually sent her there with a brand new high tech leash with a poop bag container attached to it; they put her in the crate with the leash and the poop Bag container as a chew toy. Then had the nerve to say "I don't know if it was already like this... is this a joke?! A vet placing a puppy in a crate for eight hours when her leg was already hurting, with her leash, and plastic bags???! Terrible terrible place. Never again. The whole place is a joke. Choose somewhere else. They turned away so many people today, telling them they weren't on the schedule , although I heard the customers saying that they called them the night before to confirm . They told one gentleman the tech wasn't doing vaccinations although he had also received a call the night before confirming the appointment. He told them he was leaving for thirty days and needed the vaccination for the puppy for vacation and they still refused. I'm just so thankful to this vet. Learned today that they're one of the more affordable vets in Lancaster and they do private pet cremations for a really fair price. If you need to say goodbye to a loved one, this vet is affordable and really does everything with care. Ash returns take about 2 weeks. Seriously some of the nicest and most empathetic people work here. I've been coming in more frequently with rescue kittens and dogs and just can't thank the staff enough for being so kind every time. read more

Karla is so rude and yells at you on the phone and tries to act like a doctor when she says she has no medical knowledge. Zucker is now with North Valley on Sierra Highway. Go there better. They care about you when Boulevard doesn't. Boulevard also charges an outrageous deposit when they don't use it all and says they "credit" the account only but not refund. They ruined our live find disaster search dog Wayne. He had injured his front leg by attempted to jump a fence and got his leg caught in it. It was a traumatic experience and we immediately rushed him here to Boulevard. We have used this vet since we moved here and they even did Wayne's neuter and did several of our other working dog's vaccines, health checks, spays and neuters when Dr. Rupert was here. Since Dr. Rupert has left this place has gone downhill. When Wayne came out of hospital, returned to my mom he came out with no cone on, no bandages on the surgery site, he had ripped all but one stitch out of his leg, was actively bleeding, had blown his anal glands TWICE before he came to us and blew them AGAIN when we got him back and he even pulled away from the tech, got free and JUMPED into the barely open window in our car to GET AWAY from that tech. The tech was a total jerk. He did not give my mom any instructions, told her to "fuck off" when she said this was unacceptable he just laughed and left. (FYI my mom has been training working dogs for well over 20+ years. She's deployed to many international and National disasters with her past dogs including 9/11, Montecito Mudslides, Hurricane Katrina, 2010 Haiti Earthquakes and even the 1998 Turkey Earthquakes where she did find a live victim. You get it, she has a serious resume behind her and she knows what she is doing with dogs. This tech did not.) It took my mom an hour to calm Wayne down long enough that she could apply pressure to his STILL BLEEDING wound, they refused to allow her in to speak to someone because of COVID. The people at the desk & the techs were incredibly rude and did not care that they just caused SERIOUS AND PERMANENT damage to this dog who is a known as our "class clown" because he enjoys being funny and making people laugh. They did give my mom "credit" because we refused to allow them to handle Wayne again, my mom actually had to fix his wound herself by using crate rest, a big bandage and splint and that medical honey. Wayne has now been retired at age 4 due to this event and we are now out $20,000 because we had a handler lined up for him and he was just about to be sold so he could go save lives with his handler. He now is stuck here with us because he is absolutely and utterly terrified of vets, men, and being away from us thanks to this place. Please save your money and go somewhere else. We've been traveling to our original vet in Ventura, Ohana because we are so upset at what occurred and we cannot afford to wash another fully trained disaster search dog due to the incompetence of this business. I was disappointed to find im billed for tests and procedures on a dog that had been to this vet many times before, had recent bloodwork and xrays in his file, and were brought in this time for euthanasia since he wasnt able to move or eat anymore. Clearly there were No reason to perform any additional procedures all aimed at early indication diagnoses. Not needed on a lame collapsed dog that got wheeled in dying. Worst customer service ever. I have been coming here for 8 years and my most recent visit was in February. My dog has allergies and has been on Apoquel the entire time she has been a patient. I have ordered all her refills through Chewy and have never had an issue with my orders until now. The office took two weeks to DENY my refill request. I had to call and ask why it was denied and they said the vet I visited in February failed to write down I needed refills and that wasn't what my appointment was for. I spent $300 on her yearly visit, shots, nail trim, etc. The office told me it was discussed on her visit that she had allergies and was on Apoquel but that was not the reason I came in. To make it even better, I ordered a refill for her in March that was approved. So my February visit was good enough for a March refill, but not a May refill. The lack of common sense is insane when she has a chart history of 8 years on this medication. They told me I need to come back in for another appointment and I will not be back. I requested to speak to the office manager, Damian, via phone call and email over a week ago, and he has not made any effort to reach out. They go through vets like crazy and want me to come spend more money because a different vet is there and can't look at her 8 years of history? So disappointing when I have spent thousands there. I LOVE this vet.... but the reception staff can do better The person who answered the phone was totally power tripping and unhelpful. She prevented my pet from receiving her medicine for 3 days over the weekend because she WOULD NOT TELL ME if they would be able to transfer the prescription somewhere else or fill it themselves. She gave me a lecture I didn't need about how they are so swamped and other people called and needed help before me. I get that, but can I be given a helpful answer? I called to follow up near the end of the day and was again lectured at and still not given an answer if I could pick up the medication or transfer RX. She said they would call me back later that day with and never did. The day ended, the office closed and still no medicine. So unprofessional, rude, vindictive. Absolutely not the kind of person that should be dealing with the public. read more

I had to book an appointment within 48 hours because I picked up my Boss (he's a dog) at the pound, this guy was found after 9 months of being lost (we think someone had him) anyway... and being at the pound he seemed to have a cold. I love this vet. They have been there to help me with my dogs, including lipoma removals of one dog and teeth extractions of another, and basic shots and check-ups of all my dogs. They have also helped me deal with the delicate nature of putting down my beloved chihuahua when it was time. Pet medical care can be expensive, but this vet is fair and never price gouges like I've experienced with other vets. They also are very communicative when it comes to changes in cost based on procedure. read more

Our Golden Retriever, Maverick, was bit by a Rattlesnake Thursday night, we weren't sure if he had been, there was some swelling, but the following morning he really swelled up. No one could see him, I called Boulevard Veterinary Hospital and they told us to bring him in right away. 2 bags of Antivenin, alot of fluids, our Maverick survived. We can't thank them enough! After being a loyal and trusting cleint at Boulevard Veterinary Hospital for over 15 years the unthinkable happened. They hurt my animal during a visit and more disconcerting they have no concern or care for either me or my animal. All they are worried about is denying and covering their backside. I rescue dogs and keep those unable to be adopted in as sancturary animals to spend the rest of their lives in my care. I took my serverely disabled dog in for some routine work. This dog was tortured as a puppy. I adopted her from Lancaster shelter at 14 weeks old. The first place Zena went after I got her was to Boulevard Vet, That was over six years ago. Last week I took in a fiesty Warrior Princess and brought home a dog paralyzed and in constant pain. They know they did it. I heard her scream while I was out in an exam room. They rolled over a serverely damaged Jindo. A breed who doesn't take to be rolled and then she was forced to roll her damaged body by them. After trying to contact them repeatedly not once did anyone ask how she was. In fact the office manager's first statement to me was 'you can't prove it happened here' Boulevard is not the same as when Dr Ruppert owned it. Back then it was a caring family type business. They had been there for me during so many difficult and joyous times. Now they are a cold and calculating business without true concern for their patients or the owners who trust them to take care of their beloved animals. Mistakes happen. A business with interegrity and compassion admits them and tries to alleviate the harm that has happened. Not Boulevard Veternary Hospital. They will turn on a 15 year client to cover their own mistakes and not have the honor or integrity to make it right. Shame on them. No appointment needed, I walked in and my pup was seen within minutes by a vet-tech. $16 per immunization which was by far the most affordable in comparison to other Vets I called which all required a vet visit fee plus the fee for the immunizations.
