After…read morereading Yelp reviews, Palmdale Veterinary Hospital seemed like the best choice based on its high ratings and positive feedback. Over the past two months, I've been here approximately 6-7 times with our three dogs for exams, vaccines, and an unexpected surgery for my mom's dog, whom I also recommended to this hospital. The surgery itself went well, and the cost was actually very reasonable considering the procedure. Unfortunately, my experience with the customer service has been consistently disappointing. The wait times have been long at nearly every visit. I understand that emergencies happen, but what concerns me more is how clients are treated by the front office staff and office manager. They often come across as dismissive, lacking compassion, and sometimes even condescending. Instead of simply relaying information, they sometimes seem to offer medical explanations that should really come directly from the veterinarian. When I asked to speak with the veterinarian to clarify questions about my dog's care, I was repeatedly routed through several staff members before getting any answers. That process was frustrating and unnecessary. After my mom's dog's surgery, I expected a little more compassion and guidance. Instead, it felt like we were rushed out the door. We received only limited explanations about medications, dosing schedules, and post-operative care. The focus seemed to be on scheduling the next appointment rather than making sure we understood how to care for our pet at home. When we asked why another appointment was necessary, the only explanation given was, "The doctor said so." During one visit, while waiting for my pet, there were three employees at the front desk, yet no one acknowledged me for about 20 minutes. Even after finally checking in, I continued waiting without any updates. Because this has happened repeatedly over multiple visits--not just once--I don't believe these are isolated incidents. The veterinarians appear knowledgeable, and the pricing has been fair. However, the front office is often the first and last interaction clients have, and unfortunately, it leaves a negative impression. I genuinely hope management addresses the customer service experience because I would like to continue bringing my pets here. As it stands, though, I am considering taking my business elsewhere unless I see meaningful improvement.

This most recent time, we took our dog in because we couldn't get an appointment at our regular vet. They had the same day regular appointment. Our dogs face had swollen instantly. We weren't sure if it was a snake bite or a bug bite. Or something with salivary gland. First and foremost, the girl at the desk was quite rude. Not the type of person you would want on your front lines of customer service. They did all the proper steps except for not doing a blood smear test to test for venom. The doctor kept saying this is what she thought it was, but she was not doing the test to see if there was venom. She did do an aspiration test. Which had to get sent out so we waited for that. But unlike most vets who would treat that procedure as surgical and shave the area in which they are extracting from. They just chose to stick the needle in and extract. In the meantime, she recommended overnight hospitalization and doing the anti-venom treatment. The anti-venom treatment is not cheap, plus they wanted to charge us almost $1000 to hold her in a facility overnight, where there was no staff. The specific line item for staff was $500. And there was no one there overnight only one check in at midnight. This is robbery. There are really great options in the area, but this is not it. I've learned from one of the other vets in the area that the number one mission for a veterinarian is to be of service. That is not this place. We see so much price gouging from various businesses like this. There are much better options in terms of customer service, fairness of pricing and treatment recommendations, and professionalism. I went and got a second opinion and then saw my regular vet. It's also nice to work with places who will instantly send you the medical paperwork via email and stay in communication with you via text. You don't get that at pet check engine. I do not recommend.

He is the BEST veterinarian that you are going to find in Palmdale. The way he shows compassion and care to every single client AND patient is something most veterinarians do not do anymore. We recently needed to say goodbye to my sister's dog and the way Dr. David showed patience and compassion to my niece, who is on the spectrum, that moment made the process just a tad easier. When I first brought my dog in, the veterinarian--a blonde woman--spent only a couple of minutes examining him before asking me what was wrong. She didn't even notice his hernia, and after listening to his heart with a stethoscope, she never mentioned that he had a heart murmur. I left with no real answers as to why my dog had stopped eating, other than being told he needed surgery immediately, with an estimated cost of over $6,000. Later that same week, I returned because my dog was clearly in pain and I was simply hoping to get him some pain medication. This time I saw a different veterinarian, a man, and the very first thing he said after listening to my dog's heart was, "Your dog has a very significant heart murmur." How is it possible that two veterinarians at the same clinic, only days apart, could have such completely different findings? I was devastated. I was crying, and the staff assured me they would make things right and that someone would contact me to discuss what had happened. No one ever followed up. In the end, I took my dog to a veterinarian in Santa Clarita whom I trust, and I wish I had gone there from the beginning. I will never ever ever return to this place I know my dog would have died in surgery Please please go anywhere else I can't express this enough!!

It has now been three weeks since my original request, and I have still heard absolutely nothing. Withholding medical records that a client has paid for--especially when dealing with a critically ill pet--is unprofessional and deeply disappointing. We trusted AV Animal Hospital with Goldie's care, but their complete lack of follow-through and communication during a stressful time is completely unacceptable. I would think twice before bringing a sick pet here if you expect timely access to their medical history.

I honestly can't imagine trusting anyone else with our animals. Not only have they always been kind, compassionate, and accommodating to me, but I've watched them extend that same patience and grace to countless others--including my elderly dad, who has no patience, doesn't hear well, and definitely has no filter. They never make him feel like a burden. They simply smile, repeat themselves as many times as needed, and treat him with kindness. Dr. Stone is absolutely amazing. She takes the time to explain what she's thinking, walks through the possibilities, and focuses on ruling out less invasive options before recommending expensive procedures or surgery whenever it's appropriate. I've always appreciated that she never makes you feel pressured--only informed. It's clear that her priority is giving every pet the best care possible. Today, I witnessed something that reminded me exactly why they're my vet of choice. A neighbor came in to tell the staff about a stray cat outside that had been mauled by a dog. From what I overheard, the injuries were devastating. Instead of saying, "There's nothing we can do," three staff members immediately grabbed a pet carrier, ran outside, carefully brought the cat in, and did everything they could. Later, I was told the cat's injuries were too severe to survive. While that absolutely broke my heart, I found comfort knowing that its final moments were spent in the hands of people who cared enough to help instead of looking the other way. Moments like that say everything about the kind of people they are. I'm incredibly grateful for Dr. Stone and the entire team at Palm Plaza Pet Hospital. They care deeply--not just for the animals, but for the people who love them. Thank you for being the kind of veterinary team our community is so fortunate to have.

The place was busy on a Sunday so since she was stable I figured better care could be offered Monday. The Phone system is set up to make you give up on trying to speak with a human. A long slow reading of numerous options you don't want or need, then deafening hold music that would be a war crime to subject POWs to. After exhausting all other options and unable to get someone on the phone, I used the online appointment system that the phone system pushes callers off to. From a drop down menu I selected 10am as my first choice. The system accepted my request and said someone would contact me to confirm. Closing time came and went with no message, email, or call. So the next morning I called about 30min after opening time to find out if the appointment was on. The person I finally got on the phone practically sneered at me, that they don't OFFER appointments at 10AM. Funny, because their online appointment booking system sure does!!! Ended up driving PAST their office for a 4 figure surgery elsewhere. I wonder if this is an effect of the "Private equity buying up all the Veterinary practices" situation people are talking about?
