I've been bringing my dog to this grooming salon for the last 4 years. I'd like to mention he's a yorkie. This small detail will be important later. Today, I've scheduled an appointment with someone by the name of "Discount Academy G." I thought that was odd because usually it's someone's name.. not the name of a group. I took a chance to get my dog groomed. I walked in and did the usual protocol which involves checking your dog in, and signing paperwork. I got a weird vibe from what looks to be the manager in the back. I've never seen this manager or any of these groomers before and I've been going here for years. My theory is "Discount Academy G" is a group of contract groomers and they just started working there. Anyway, I dropped my dog off and get a call 2 hours later saying they couldn't complete the service because he was biting, rolling and flailing everywhere. You're telling me there's no experienced groomer that can groom a small yorkie? Once again, my dog has been going here for years and has had different groomers at this same location. He has never had this issue with anyone. Honestly, I don't believe it. He's never gotten a complaint before. If he ever did bite it has to be because someone is being aggressive with him or they were trying to grind his nails (which I did not ask for). I know my dog very well. I've also thought about how new they seemed as well. Even to the point where they asked questions I already answered online. I believe these are inexperienced groomers that didn't know what they were doing and didn't know how to handle a dog with anxiety, or they were too lazy to fully groom him. The experienced groomers he's been to know what to do and always has. He used to go to Taylor often, but it seems like she doesn't work there anymore. When I picked him up, they said if he does this again he will be banned from Petsmart grooming. Immediately I'm on defense because these people are new to this location. I am not nor do I believe them. Once I got home, I checked my dog to make sure he didn't have any scratches or bruises on him. I looked at his rear paw and it looks as if they were trying to grind his nails when I said to only give him a bath, full haircut and teeth cleaning. I only let the vet do his nails. Now he's walking around looking like Simba with his half haircut. I've booked with a different groomer elsewhere. If you care about your dog, don't get them groomed at this location. If you do then do NOT book with "Discount Academy G" as they are lazy and lying individuals. Trust your gut as I didn't the first time. read more

I've been a loyal PetSmart member from the day I didn't have a dog (I used to come here to buy gifts for my cousin's dog) until I owned one. And the way they solve the problem is quite bad and I am really disappointed. They said it was just a small scratch, they didn't know why my dog ​​was scratched like that even though he was completely normal before. They never apologized to me or said sorry. This is THE ONLY NEGATIVE REVIEW I've ever written on Yelp. Yes, it's that bad. Oh where to start. Staff? We walked in and got very curt, not outright rude, service. Whatever, I worked retail before and I get it, life sucks. Anyways later I got 4 phone calls, a voicemail and a text saying my dog was ready for pickup. Like, chill out, I'm coming. When I arrived, I was told "Your dog was antsy and I accidentally nicked him, but I cleaned him up." I saw the nick, it wasn't bleeding, looked a little pink. I said oh well accidents happen... and brought him home. Yeah I'm an idiot, yeah yeah but seriously it looked totally fine. On the way home, my mom was holding him and said he smells like he hasn't been bathed and he was shedding fur clippings like they hadn't brushed him out either. His nails were also not clipped. I gave him a bath once I got home... and the wet fur moved aside to show me all the razor burns on his stomach and under his legs... and 5 perfectly spaced bleeding holes punched into his penis, clearly electric clippers dug into his skin. He was dripping blood out of the bath, staining his fur, and kept trying to lick the area. Not only did they not do their job, they seriously injured him. He has to wear a cone until the area heals up. Seriously, you cannot fake skill. If they couldn't handle my 2-year-old, 16 pound puppy dog to the point where they injure him... they shouldn't be working in grooming. He's never been injured before, and I've gone to my share of different groomers. I didn't think to check on Yelp because I'm an idiot. I get STELLAR service at a different Petsmart that's further away from my house, and I can't believe how terrible this experience was. We've been loving this petsmart store since we moved here in GA. It's close to our house and the workers are great, from the banfield, groom, and the counter. There was a really nice guy who will always greets us and everyone welcome, and wish goodbye and give treat to our pup. He is one of the reason we love going back to the store. BUT, today, 8/3/24, we went to get treats and there was this african american tall skinny woman, who I believe working in wrong industry.our dog had an accident (peed) as soon as we got in, i didn't realize because i was about to fix my dogs shoes. This lady, while ringing someone yelled and said "excuse me! There is a mop there'!" And started rolling her eyes whilst she was also assisting customer and after the customer left. I asked my partner what exactly she said, and I notice that this woman keeps rolling his eyes back and forth while looking at us and our dog, so then I asked her if she has a problem with us, she faced me and said "I don't have problem with you it's your dog! " , and I said there is a nice way to say it like this is"pet smart" there will be pets who will have accidents. Luckily my partner called and grabbed me cause she knows It'll be a different scene. I didn't get her name but 'twas the first time we saw her, and she cannot be on the frontline representing Petsmart, if She doesnt know how to talk to customers, doesn't like seeing pet who can have accidents and the audacity to Have an attitude towards the situation. She is not servicing customer. I am not saying customer is always right because it is not. But there are ways HOW TO relay a message to a customer. We don't mind cleaning after our pet, we mind if you do not know how to go communicate. I want to hear from someone from the management and how to address this. if you don't, you are putting someone customer facing when she is not supposed to. Hire someone who represents your brand not someone who will stain it. We left immediately after that because I cannot stand being on the store knowing that she will ring us up and I know it will escalate the situation. But we will go back and I will get her name, and maybe let her know that she doesn't belong working there. Now it's also up to you on how you will handle this. Like even the workers were not wearing a mask and would ask me if I'm finding everything okay and I'm like "Why are you talking to me if you arent wearing a mask?" So unprofessional - literal business not requiring its customers to come and wear masks and not even doing the bare minimum of requiring employees to do so? Places like this are why a second wave of death is coming in GA. I will never walk into a petsmart again and I'm only ordering off amazon - convenience is not worth lack of safety. I was in the store today and watched one of the employees berate a customer who was asking a question of another employee. The employee practically tried to pick a fight with the customer. On top of that the service was extremely slow. The same employee who went off on the customer also refused to help anyone in line to check out. They were pulling pick up orders for people who were not there instead of helping the people in line check out. It was interesting to me that not only did the employee want to fight with a customer, no one cared enough for the people who were actually in the store and wanted to purchase items. I walked in looking for a small water fountain for our cats. I asked the cashier who greeted me, and she named the correct aisle immediately. Five minutes later, I'd sorted through all the choices -- several brands available, each of which had several different models. What was $30 at Pet Supermarket was $24 here (and it was in stock, which I can't say about the other guy) and they even accepted a competitor's coupon for $2 off a purchase of $10 or more. Better selection; better prices; and they'll take competitors' coupons. I think I like this place! read more

I absolutely love and enjoy shopping at PetsMart. They have the best prices for pet supplies ever! I have shopped at other chain pet supply stores for dog supplies. I must say that PetsMart has them all beat when it comes to low and affordable prices. My most recent purchase was for some great dog chews. I was at Petco looking at some new dog chews for my dog. They sell rib bones for $8. I found similar rib bones at PetsMart that are a little more wider in size and the same thickness for just $1.99 each. PetsMart, to me, is the Walmart of chain pet supply stores. Their bully stick chew packs are a lot more cheaper as well. Petco sells them for approximately $19 to $30. PetsMart sells them for a lot cheaper. I love my dog, but I just cannot afford to spend an arm and a leg for all of her pet supplies and the treats and chews that she loves. This PetsMart is very clean and they have manufacturer's coupons for different brands of flea and tick medications in store. I have shopped here at this PetsMart a few times now already. The employees that work here and run this PetsMart are just always friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable about the products that are sold here. Checkout here is always a breeze and the wait and the lines for checkout are never long at all. I am always able to find whatever it is that I need and/or want here very quickly and easily without any assistance at all. This PetsMart is just super well organized. I do occasionally bring my dog with me to shop here and she loves being petted by the employees that work here whenever I bring her here with me. They get five stars for being well organized and having very helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable staff. read more

We love coming here for the deals and specials. You can find good prices if you just wander around the store. My son likes to watch the animal training center, the pets are so cute. Terrible grooming experience. The store is fine though. This is a fine place to visit to purchase food, leashes, the commodity stuff that you need for your pets. But the grooming is not good. Not good at all. I can base this experience on several factors, my dogs were scared to death to walk in the grooming area. They would shake, pee a little and cling. First time I figured, "Okay, maybe the new smells and sounds scared them." Second time I was a little more apprehensive. When it didn't get any better, but worse on subsequent trips I became very wary. I won't use this place for grooming not only because my dogs are terrified, the staff seems to think of the animals entrusted to their care are more of a product to be shuffled in and out, paying lip service to caring for and making the animals comfortable. If you don't care about the happiness and wellbeing of your pet you might just be fine with this, not me. I'm sorry to say that I can't abide this place for grooming any longer and have found another groomer close by that does care for my fur babies. read more

The grooming here is about the worst I've EVER experienced! I have gone here for over a year, so I feel I have more than given them a chance. The staff has zero skill in customer service/interaction. They are rude and dismissive and appear to lack the care and concern you would expect from someone charged with taking care of and/or grooming your pet. As I mentioned, I've been going here for a while. Every time I call I'm told there is no record of me coming here, no record/history of my dog? I go through this every time! Eventually they find me in the system, but say there is no history as to what they have done in the past??? Literally go through the same process on every visit. Last time I asked to speak with the store manager. He too was very dismissive and referred me to a corporate phone number? Great way to hear your customer and mitigate the situation Mr manager, not! I've never had my dog groomed the same way twice. Sometimes left long, sometimes short. Sometimes her face is cut tight and others you can barely see her eyes. Sometimes they have forgotten to clip her nails entirely! Of course, customers aren't allowed in back where they keep the dogs, but if the front is any indication I would be scared to see it. What you can see is dirty, hair EVERYWHERE! Hair inches thick on the floor and grooming tables, it doesn't appear as though they clean after each dog? The front counter, display area, floors, even the window are covered in dog hair. Overall just poor service, poor results! If your looking to establish a relationship with your groomer and you would like a compassionate, capable person taking care of your pet....LOOK ELSEWHERE, you won't find that here! I do not recommend the grooming services here. I have booked my mini labradoodle there twice to get groomed and both have been mediocre experiences. My mini labradoodle (22lbs) has an intense fear of scissors which I think he developed after his first experience. In fact, my groomer I usually go to, shared with me how he thought my dog's PetSmart experience scarred him. I didn't listen (huge regret!) and while in Atlanta sent him back a second time to get groomed about a year or so later. They called us to come pick him up 10 minutes after dropping him off. They only cut hair off half of his body, leaving him looking unkept, with long hair around his legs and face, but a shaved body. They said he was nipping and nervous, and they would not move forward with the appointment and refused to even give him a bath (no scissors involved!). I have had a friend who has had positive experience at this PetSmart, however, both experiences have been subpar for me and recommend looking elsewhere. read more

They claim to practice social distancing here but they ALL stood in the salon less than 6ft apart from each other LOUDLY conversing in each other's faces as I was picking up my dog! Absolute worst grooming ever. I asked for my yorkie's hair to be trimmed up (not shaved) because I do not like him short and I asked for them to leave his hair on his ears long. The ONLY thing cut when I picked him up was his ears. He looks like a joke. The manager laughed and said that it was almost Halloween- its ok to look scary. They did not charge me since I was so upset. It is not about the money. This dog is like my child and now I am embarrassed to take him out in public!!! read more

This is my second time coming to this place. My first time getting my dog groomed here was awesome. The lady who did her grooming did an great job and did exactly what I asked for. I understand my dog can be a little difficult but this wasn't her first grooming she's had many. Initially I told the lady that I didn't want her to be washed since she just had a bath the other day and they said they wouldn't have me pay for it. Then I call and they say they already bathed her and are unable to finish due to her nipping. So her whole head is left untouched. They are charging me the full amount due to the fact that they can't discount the bath even though they said they could. This isn't her first grooming and she's been okay with it so far ( 2 years of getting groomed) so I don't understand why they can't do it. All I know is I'm never bringing her back again. read more

The store is always clean and everyone is friendly and helpful but prices can be a bit high. They have a cat adoption section that me and my daughter volunteer so if you are seeking a cat for your companion this Pet smart is the place to find them. They also have a grooming department that is also very organized, treats your pet with love and care and they do a great job at grooming. Not to mention you can have your dog trained by the great staff. I like!!! read more

First grooming experience was great. Second experience was a disaster. I had to clean up my dogs backside and let her coat grow out to so I could even her out again. If I could give 0 stars I would. I am so upset. I wanted to get my dog a PAWdicure Plus so I called ahead to confirm how long it would take. The woman who answered told me it would take 15 minutes. I got to the store and no one was in the grooming area. I waited around for 5 minutes before going to another employee to ask for assistance. They paged Grooming. A woman came out (Groomer 1) and asked if it would be alright if I waited a few minutes while she finished up another dog. I agreed. After a few minutes she came out and started to get my information so she could enter me into the system. She asked what service I wanted and didn't know what a PAWdicure was. I had to specify that I wanted his nails trimmed and that I wanted his teeth cleaned. She was very obviously new. She told me that it would take 15 minutes and asked if I would still be in the store. I was, so I told her I would be browsing. I went to the fish section to get a few and took my time to allow for my dog's grooming to be done. After, I ambled over to grooming only to learn that Groomer 1 had not been able to submit my information into the system so she hadn't even started! A second woman (Groomer 2) came over to help and it was only because she hadn't entered my dog's weight. Groomer 2 then asked Groomer 1 if she had checked for vaccination records or I had filled out a form. It makes me wonder if Groomer 1 has allowed other dogs without checking vaccine records!! After all this was sorted I had already been in the store 30 minutes. Groomer 2 asked if Groomer 1 needed help with the nails (that made me feel very good about Groomer 1's abilities). I went to browse a bit more and take my other purchases to the car. I go to watch because it is supposed to be 15 min. It is abundantly clear that Groomer 1 did not know how to do anything. Groomer 2 kept having to jump in. She even said to her "you know one day you are going to have to do this on your own." Groomer 2 then proceeded to leave and leave Groomer 1 to finish up. 40 minutes later they are done. It was only AFTER I got home that I realized that I did not receive HALF the services I paid for. The PAwdicure Plus comes with: * Nail trim & grind * Light feet trim & pad shaving * Ear cleaning & hair removal * Scented cologne spritz * Bandana or bow *Teeth brushing & breath freshener I didn't receive the cologne, bandana, or teeth brushing. I saw her spraying some stuff into my dog's mouth at the end but didn't realize that she had not brushed. And on top of ALL this, I noticed that my dog had a bloody paw. Something was clipped too short or he was nicked somewhere to the point of bleeding. This was a simple nail trim or grind!!! How the fuck did they mess that up. And on top of that they didn't even mention that they had messed up! I would have preferred them to be honest so then I could be more careful about walking him, especially in this rainy weather. Had my westie groomed at Petsmart this morning and I was, to be honest, less than impressed. Bearing in mind they use a westie in the ad's I don't think the girl who took care of my dog knew what a westie cut looked like. The body and head were fine (at best) but she left the tail completely fluffy, my poor pup looked absurd. They also have a ridiculous policy of using a choke leash on all the dogs in for grooming. I'm sorry I don't do that to my dogs, ever - I don't let them do it at the vet's either. They tried to convince me that it's for "safety" and that she could slip her own collar. Well yes, she absolutely could slip her own collar if she was struggling a very great deal, if she's struggling that much and she has a choke leash on then it would restrict her breathing. I was made to feel that I was being totally unreasonable. I've been shopping there for my dog food for a while, I'll probably mosey on back to the Petco I was using previously. read more

The grooming department here is THE WORST!!!! I have had 1 decent experience. The next time they called me and said my dog was too old and would stand up for her shave. They sent her home HALF SHAVED! So I took her over to Medlock Bridge Grooming and they did a beautiful job and said there were no problems. Tonight I called to see if I could come in to get the dogs nailed cut while I wait. The girl said "yes but be here no later than 8pm. I got here at 7:50pm. (I called at 7:10pm and was 35 min away.) The manager greeted me smirking saying that all groomers left at 6:55pm!!!! Don't waste your time with this place! read more

Just had a horrible experience at this PetSmart. My pet has been coming to PetSmart of 3+ years to get groomed and was told today that due to his age and the fact he has a heart murmur, they could not groom him. He is 12 years old, not on medication and has been getting groomed at PetSmart for years. They said since he was 10 they couldn't groom him and he's 12 so apparently this has been going unnoticed for the last 2 years. I've never been informed this could be an issue so to go there and expect that he will get groomed to be told they can't groom him was quite frustrating. And all the manger had to say was "well I wasn't here those other times he got groomed." Train your staff to communicate this message so that I could have been prepared to know that at some point they may not be able to groom him. I get that he has a heart condition but he's on no medication, and just saw his vet. He is fine and this is beyond frustrating. Very disappointed with PetSmart and will not be going back for grooming, toys, treats, or any other purchases ever again. read more

DO NOT TRY NUTRO DOG FEED. I used to buy science diet lamb and rice which they no longer carry. I was convinced by an associate to buy NUTRO and that if it didn't work just bring my receipt back. Well, come to find out NUTRO has chicken fat in it causing an allergic reaction in my dog. When I tried to return the food they said I had to haul all 30+ pounds back into the store in a plastic bag to return. RIDICULOUS! I am one of their membership people so all they have to do to authenticate my story is look up my account. NOPE, they won't even do that. Don't buy food from them without looking at the ingredients first and do not believe that the return will be simple. I will go somewhere else for food that actually makes it easy to return things that make my dog sick. read more

I brought my puppy in for a $15.99 bath, which also included a nail trim and other services. I told the girl up front that my pup was recently spayed and I wasn't sure if the incision was still healing. She said they didn't want to bathe her until the vet gave the okay, which I was fine with. I asked if they could at least cut her nails and brush her teeth. There apparently wasn't a way in the computer to charge me for those two services separately, so it took several minutes for her to actually print my invoice. While I was waiting, the girl up front told the man who was grooming my dog to go ahead and get started. He put my pup up on the grooming table and she was a lot calmer than I expected. When he turned on the nail clippers, she got very nervous and jumpy. She slipped off the table and practically hung herself from the leash. The guy who was grooming her did not react very quickly, and if he would have waited any longer, she probably could have killed herself. Another woman in the room told the girl up front to help the man hold my dog while he trimmed her nails. I was in shock about what had just happened to my dog. I was completely speechless. Once both people were attending to her, I thought everything would be alright, so I walked to the back of the store to buy some dog food. Maybe 2 minutes later, I was at the register paying for the grooming services and the food, when the girl groomer ran out and told the cashier (who was not very friendly) not to charge me. She said my dog was too jumpy and they were not going to do either of the things I had asked. I was a little frustrated but I told them thanks for trying, took my puppy, and left. After I left, I couldn't stop thinking about my experience. I am very angry about how things were handled. I should have said something while I was there. First of all, my puppy almost hung herself on the grooming table. The leashes on those tables should be shorter, and the groomer should have been paying better attention. And second, I know most dogs are probably not calm during grooming visits. Aren't the groomers trained to handle situations like that? Are all fidgety dogs sent home without being groomed? Just picked up my dog from the grooming salon at the neighborhood PetSmart as a second chance at redeeming their grooming staff. In JULY they nicked my dog's ear severely. They sent him to their inhouse vet but that vet I found was completely booked and the staff would not let me see my dog. He is show quality and his ears normally stick straight up like a bat's (they are not docked ears) so I was very concerned. My dog was not given back to me until 7pm and I had dropped him off at PetSmart Grooming at 10:30am. Today OCTOBER 8 I took my dog back for a 2nd chance and when I picked him up he was shaved like a Chihuahua and his face was not evened clean nor were his paws attended to. They simply said he needed to be completely shaved. I have been brushing his coat out daily so I know this was not true. They are incompetent and I would recommend that friends/family take their pet to someone/someplace that knows what they are doing. My dog has been groomed at PetSmart and he was butchered. read more
