Very friendly groomers. Once I arrived with my dog, they seemed to be listening when I gave them her feeding instructions. It took them 4 days before sending me an update on the dog even after I sent a text to check in on her. My flight was delayed so I had someone else pick up my dog, and they didn't know where her things were. I sent the person picking my dog up the description of her bag and the things I dropped off with her. The groomers found my dog's items and handed them to the person picking the dog up. Once they returned home my niece noticed the dog's bowls were not in her bag, so she had to go back and pick the bowls up. Once I returned home, I notice my dog's food was still in her bag. I'm not sure what food my dog ate or if she ate at all over the 6 days that she was boarded. I feel a better system should be in place to keep up with dog's belongings when they are dropped off and they should eat the food they are brought with. read more

The good: friendly, communicates with you via text, patient with the new clients (I had many questions), your deposit goes toward the service and when you checkout they can use the card on file (very seamless), friendly groomers. The bad: my grooming service included ear cleaning. I brought my pup there (he was right at 14 weeks) and they groomed him and cleaned the hair out of his ear. The next day or two I saw black gunk in his ear. I messaged the shop and inquired about my pup's ear. I asked the groomer I was texting, that if I paid for the ear cleaning service, and the groomer had to look in my dog's ear to clean it, why didn't they inform me of the gunk? I wasn't asking them to clean the gunk per se, I understand I needed to see a vet at that point, but why not at least inform me upon pick up that I need to make an appointment with the vet based on what they saw? Not informing me AFTER I text you complaining. The groomer mentioned that the specific person who groomed my pup wasn't in the office, but when the groomer who groomed my pup was asked, she said she "didn't see it". How could you not see it? Did you blindly stick something in my pup's ear to clean it? You have to lift up his ear to clean out the hair. No? That makes no sense. I don't like that lack of communication. If you are a groomer and something looks off in the area you are grooming say something. It costs you nothing to say something. The owner tried to call me after I sent messages and pictures, but I was not interested in speaking with her. What could she say then that would change anything? I have been debating rather I should write this post or not but my experience here was too disturbing to just let it go. I brought my dogs here to get pretty for Thanksgiving. Both of their hair cuts were very nice but my younger dog was sent back with feces on his backside. We told the groomer and she took him to the back, he came out with the same problem and I could not stay to argue with her because I had to go to work. She gave me an excuse about cleaning his glands but why would you send a dog out of your care covered in his excrements? I have been bringing my dog to this groomer for years now and the workers have been cool. They are a bit pricey, have jacked my dog's hair up a few times, didn't trim nails once even though I paid for it, and even cut my dogs ear - so much so that they called after to check on the dog and volunteered to pay a vet bill. I did not trip on that -- the ear healed. I have an online magazine, BlackGwinnett Magazine. I have been running a banner ad for Strutt Your Mutt the past 2-3 years -- on the home page. I told the owner when I first ran the ad at no charge - just wanted to help promote her business. Strutt Your Mutt is a black-owned business. We need more African-American business owners in Gwinnett County. I am a diligent supporter of the community, and I have looked beyond the mishaps of Strutt Your Mutt. Now my dog needs grooming. I told her my dog was matted, I just wanted her shaved. So I asked how much would it cost. She told me starting at $50 but with matting it was going to cost more. I told the owner I am a bit tight on money so I asked for a discount on this service. The owner told me a discount was not available. The owner then asked me if I wanted her to give me the name of another groomer. All I could do was lol! I just hang up the phone and started writing this review so I can keep it moving. I have brought my dogs to Strutt Your Mutt, on a Few Occasions. For Daycare. Not Grooming. Just Recently I Boarded My 2-Toy Poodles with them, from Tuesday July 28th through Monday August 3rd 2020. One of my Dog's Nose was Scratched and had been bleeding, my dog was ok; but I asked to speak with the Owner. After Speaking with the Owner; she said my dog must have scratched her Nose on the Crate, I said We have a Crate at Home and she has Never Scratched her Nose. I then asked the Owner for some type of Adjustment; and she said: "There is Nothing, I Can Do". I was then Specific and asked if I Could get a $20.00 Adjustment? She then said; "I Understand, if You Would Rather, Go Elsewhere, Next Time". I Then Asked; You Will Not Even Give Me $20.00 after Having Crates, Where My Dog can be Harmed? It Appears This Business Owner; Does Not Value Business and Can Care Less about How the Animals are Cared For, or How the Animal's Parent Feels. I Will Never Return. I've been to this groomer several times and each time there was an issue. The first appointment my puppy was cut behind his ear and when I mentioned it to the groomer she said... "thank you!" I'm still confused but I assumed she meant thanks for telling her. His second appointment his hair cut was horrible but it's ok he's a dog and I know his hair would grow back. The third appointment the groomer butchered my pup ONE leg and told me she tried to blend out a knot she removed. When asked why not just trim all his legs to match that ONE butchered leg... a giggle was her response. Yes she laughed. I honestly chose this groomer initially because it was black owned - never met the owner nor did I read the reviews. I did speak to her briefly on the phone today to make a last minute appointment. I brought my pup in for just a bath because obviously there's always an issue with the cuts and honestly he's still recovering from the last horrible one. I mentioned to her (the owner) my last experience with the butchered leg cut and her response was her reading the note the groomer left - no apology just what the note says. Fast forward to my pickup... I was late but I made sure to compensate the groomer for my tardiness. My pup looked clean and blown out. Ok nice! I know I should've inspected him before I went to the car because of my past experiences but wth could've have gone wrong... nothing right? It was just a bath and I was late. I did not have time. The groomer today was very nice but the service just as bad as all the others. How do you mess up a bath!?My pup has a million little knots as I tried to run my fingers through his hair! His hair felt staticky and super dry. Clearly he got a sham NO poo nor conditioner. This is it for me! I am pissed and will not call to complain to deaf ears... I have a Dutch Barge dog that is in the Pomeranian breed and he looks adorable in either the lion's cut or teddy bear cut. I didn't like the smell of the new establishment when dropping my pup off BUT the service here has been consistent in the past. I've only ever dropped him off to get groomed. They've always done a great job. The reason this time I have given them 4 stars was not the weird dog smell BUT the fact that when my dog stayed while boarding with them the grooming wasn't as awesome as in the past. I took my puppy for grooming at this shop. Tahrea groom him, nicked his paw and did not tell me. When I asked her about it she said she did not know she nicked his paw, became very defensive, did more talking than listening and told us we did not have to come back to her anymore. She blamed my puppy because he was so young. I don't understand how a groomer could fail to notice a nick as deep the one she gave my puppy. She claimed that she was not liable because we signed a waiver that include mix. I understand that we signed waiver however that does not excuse injuring someone's pet and not even letting the owner know to give them a chance to get their pet looked at if necessary. I think I deserve to know this. Keep your pets safe and don't bring them to this shop. read more

These guys are awesome. They are better prices than pet smart or my vet on many things, and they are super nice. My dog is 8 months old, and 70 pounds. It is fair to say he is a handful. They don't mind at all though. They are excited to see him and he loves it there. They do a thorough job. They go above and beyond. My dog had a scab or two where he had scratched and she took aloe from her personal plant and put it on for me. They are great, I highly recommend them. Parking isn't the best, so be careful. I was very skeptical about getting my dog groomed. We read so many horror stories. I took her to the local chain Pet store when she was six months. I was not happy with the outcome. After reading a few reviews here I decided to try this place. Very happy. I was able to get an appointment that day. I left her around 11:00 they called me at 3:30 to pick her up. I am very pleased. The staff is very friendly, informative and professional and seem to really care about the animals. A few weeks ago, I was able to call on the holiday weekend and get a last minute grooming appointment. Most recently, I boarded Aspen for 3 days (after a terrible experience at another kennel. He was sick for almost 2 weeks after). I had a schedule change and needed to board him for an additional day. No problem! When I picked Aspen up, he was as happy and frisky as the day I dropped him off. I could tell that he was well taken care of during his time at Strutt Your Mutt. Their rates are reasonable and they do not try to upsell you on various services. Sarah is incredible as a groomer and a dog lover. I ask for the moon with my fur babies. One Shih tzu is 11 years old. She was born with problem back legs. She needs special consideration when grooming. Sarah has never let me down. I can take my fur baby to her for grooming and know that she is getting great care and a great groom. My new baby is now a year old she has a beautiful coat however she mats terribly no matter how much I comb. I can take her to Sarah and know I she is getting a groom I ask a lot from Sarah, however, she is always friendly and accommodating. She has my fur babies ready quickly and they have a great haircut with little stress on me and my fur babies. Very clean. They butchered my dog! This was the first time this groomer cut my multipoo and clearly she didn't know what she was doing. I specifically stated A PUPPY CUT! My dog looks like he's on crack, he's scratching every other second and his head isn't evenly cut! They claim he was matted. I say they shaved him because it is an easy 45 bucks. I must admit that I was a bit hesitant to change groomers & try out somewhere brand new with no reviews online, but I was seriously ready for a change. The place that I had been going to kept switching out their groomers & the grooms went from an average A rating to an average C rating. Amy, the dog groomer at this new place, asked me very detailed questions on how I wanted my dog groomed. She even asked for pictures of exactly how I would like them to look. I was so impressed with how well she did on her first try with my pets. That has never happened before. Usually, I go through a learning curve with new groomers in trying to get them to understand what I want done. Please do not be deceived by this facility for boarding. They may be great for grooming but boarding your dog here would be like sending them to prison. The pictures that are advertised for boarding on Groupon are definitely false advertisement. I asked the young lady if I could see where my dog would be staying and she said we were not allowed to see that part of the facility. So I asked if she could take a picture with my phone and she did. There was a large dog stuffed in a small cage with two other cages crammed on one side and a house fan crammed on the other side. Any dog lover would have been upset to see this. I was upset that I couldn't take the dog out of that tiny space. If you love your dog dont do it. The staff admitted that the owner used false pictures of the cute, larger suites up front to entice customers and that several had come and gone because they were upset. Overall, don't torture your pets. I lost out on the Groupon and I dont care. I would never subject my dog to such an unprofessional environment for boarding. read more
