Our minpin Holland loves Funnybones! She has a ton of energy at every moment of the day, but came home all tuckered out after boarding here. As is standard at boarding facilities, they require a temperament ($25) visit to observe the dog before boarding, but this includes the day of daycare. When I called to schedule, the person I spoke with was helpful and informative. We've only left Holland here once so far for about 5 nights (so have been by 4 times: dropping off and picking up each for the temperament visit and boarding). The 24-hour boarding rate is $30, which is a pretty good price for what you get...the pups don't stay in crates the whole time, they've got space to roam around and play and hang out with other pup friends. They separate the dogs by size as needed, which is comforting since although Holland can hang with the big dogs (and thinks she's a big dog), she's only 10 lbs. We haven't taken advantage of any of the grooming available, but they offer the basics (bath, nails, etc) for decent prices. They also don't charge extra to provide medicine, something we've had to deal with at some boarding places. We haven't met the owner, but the owner's father has been in 2/4 times we've visited and he's very friendly and really gets to know your pet. The staff also love pets and remember their personalities from what I can tell. This is the sort of place that could charge $15-25 more per day of boarding if they were closer to the city, but since they're in Lilburn, you get a good bang for your buck. Definitely DO NOT recommend this place!!! Our dog stayed for a week and when we returned to pick him up he had blood on his face, scabbed over and all under his chin to the other side of his head. Funny bones didn't call us or say anything about it to us. The girl at the front desk said she was with him just about the whole week but still didn't know what happened. She ended up calling the owners father Kenny and we spoke with him. Sent pictures of the injuries and he still couldn't tell us. Kenny was rather surprised when we told him we need to take him to the vet. Which was very concerning since this is a place that should be caring for your dogs. He showed no concern about the issue and repeatedly stated "He had a good morning" (He was there for 7 days) and was very unapologetic. Upon taking him to the vet, thankfully it was nothing too harmful but it was a major hotspot. That should not have gone unnoticed especially since it was in plain sight. After politely reporting to Kenny what the issue was and we were very dissatisfied with the care they showed for our dog, Kenny responded with "We are glad your dog is fine." (I am not stating my dog's name). No apology for it going unnoticed, or no compensation. Won't be back. read more

My boy, Tyler, loved Funnybones! During the school year he would spend two or three days a week hanging out at his school while I worked at my school. He was loved and well taken care of during his stays. I could not say "Funnybones" in his presence because he would immediately want to load up and head to school. I'm new to Georgia and was looking for someone to board my German Shepherd. The person that answered the phone was very rude. Didn't really make me wanna leave my dog with them. If you're going to answer the phone for potential new client, you may want to have good customer service skills. You were taking on someone's pet who some people think of as their children and no one wants to leave them with a rude person. We obviously didn't choose this location so their facility may be amazing and their other staff may be great, but if the main person who's answering the phone Doesn't lend to good customer service then we will never find out. read more

Started bringing my dog here earlier this year (after being referred by my sister) from the jump, I was in love! I had to go out of the country and they were very hospitable to my baby while I was gone. I particularly loved bringing my pet here because not only is it female owned but also black owned and is a family(?) business so it was worth the trip from Downtown Decatur to Lilburn before work. I would've continued bringing my dog for day play and boarding had it not been for 2 strangely aggressive interactions I had with the owner's father( Kenny). If his aggressive and erratic attitude is going to represent her business then I I'm not sure if I would trust my pet, my sister's pet or anybody else's pet in his care. The owner is a lovely woman who I've had the pleasure of meeting once or twice, and she was nothing but caring and loving towards my pet, same as every other staff member I've met, I usually only bring my dog on weekdays from 6am-8pm while I'm at work but this particular week I had to go for a work event on Sunday. So went at 8 AM because that's when Google said that they opened on the weekends. Kenny rudely informed me that they do not allow day play on Sundays at the time I was not aware of that cause I usually don't bring him on the weekends so after lecturing me he said that he would make an exception for today and I thanked him and apologized profusely. I thought that would be the end of that and I completely forgot about it but when I came to pick up my pet not only did he have another lecture waiting for me but he also overcharged me! at the time I didn't want to make an issue because he already seemed upset and I understood that It was my mistake so if he wanted to pocket an extra $10 then fine but it did leave a bad taste in my mouth because of the way he was lecturing and fussing at me I feel like if he really didn't want to take him he didn't need to make me feel like I was some kind of villain or intentionally disrupting his day he could've said no and I would've just taken my pet somewhere else. Two weeks later(Wednesday the 23rd) I brought my pet around 10ish for half day-play and when I came to pick up Kenny was pleasant and at checkout out I was confused when the screen said $24 so I asked him if the price for half day was $14 and he sighed and said"No just look at the display, Our hours are there! pick up for half day was at 11:45! It says it on all of our literature!" I told him I'd never really read their literature because I was referred and told everything by word-of-mouth. after some back-and-forth I realized I mixed up their pick up time for half day and their after-nap reopening time. So I apologized laughed and said since I'm paying for a full day, then I might as well run some errands and let him play for a little bit longer instead of picking him up this early, Kenny threw my dogs leash down on the table and shouted at me "well you're the one who came here to pick him up in the first place" I asked him why he'd been having such an attitude and reminded him that I'd never had any prior problems with him before whether it be paying for services or pick up times. He yelled"I don't have an attitude! and if you're not going to pick him up then leave and let me get back to my work" before he stormed off to the back. I do accept that maybe I shouldn't have asked him about the pricing since I already knew. He's been acting weird since the previous time but I wanted to make sure that he wasn't overcharging me again and I don't feel like the way he spoke to me or the way he handled my business was professional or a good representative of this company, it's not like I refused to pay or accused him of anything. I literally only asked him a question and he decided to blow up at me.. It's about how you talk to your customers! Making an exception for somebody doesn't mean that you get to treat them any kind of way! read more

Funnybones has been taking great care of our pup for almost 2 years now. We're never concerned about her when we're away for either the day or on an overnight trip. Funnybones is so much better than being left at home with an occasion walk by a walker (which is about the same price). I had brought my 1st Dog here for several Years, Place was Great, people there really seemed to care about the dogs. Recently they Purchased Another location & the ENTIRE outdoor is cement. We had brought a 2nd dog, a Large Husky, who plays rough and Runs Non-stop. At This Location for "Bigger Dogs." They had New "Kids" working there, they Didn't seem to have a Clue about caring for the dogs, I had overheard them discussing the Many issues dogs were having w/ their nails being cut & Bleeding. This was Multiple dogs, incl. mine. The Last Straw for me was when I came to pick up my dogs, and the Husky at the 2nd location could NOT put ANY weight on 1 of his front paws. I had to Carry my dog to my vehicle... I Would NOT Recommend this Dog Day Care Facility Any Longer as they seem to have taken in Too Many dogs and can Not Guarantee their Safetey!! BIG Problem. I have an extremely volatile dog, who gets aggressive when she's scared. (which is fairly regularly) She only likes about 10 people on the planet, and at least 4 of them work at Funnybones! I do not recommend this place. I brought my dog, a 30 pound mixed breed, to Funny Bones for a trial day. My dog is very high energy, high anxiety, and loves to play with other dogs. When dogs are playing, they put their mouths on each other. Apparently my dog, Koda, did this a little too much and they called me and told me to come get her. This was less than 2 hours into the trial day. With this being an entirely new experience to my dog, I do not think it was fair to kick her out entirely after less than half a day. They could have separated her from the group for a bit to give her time to calm down instead of kicking her out. That's what they do at Petsmart. I was planning on boarding her here for 11 days shortly after the trial day, which would have been $400 plus but I guess funny bones does not want my money. To Petsmart we go! Great customer service...Kenny was extremely accommodating for me during Spring break vacation. Staff was super friendly and I love that the dogs are separated by weight for extended stay. My dogs love funny bones! My small dog gets anxious playing with much bigger dogs, but he absolutely loves it there because he is able to play with dogs his own size, free of fear! Same with my big dog who can finally play a little rougher in the big dog section without accidentally stepping on someone. The staff is incredibly friendly and knows both of my dogs' names and personalities. Whenever we walk in, my dogs squeal from excitement and can't wait to go play. Funnybones is great!! We have been using them for years. We keep moving further away so it's hard to get our Lab there often. We have looked for something closer to our home but no place measures up to Funnybones. The owners are the in the perfect business!! They love what they are doing and it shows. I can't even say "Funnybones" around my dogs because they get so excited.They love to go see their friends, both canine and human. Funnybones is run by dog people: their enthusiasm for dogs shows in everything they do. They knew my dogs from our second visit and greet them by name every time we walk in the door. After a day of playing, the dogs are completely worn out and happy, which means a nice peaceful evening for once. Funnybones does a great job with boarding, too. My husband and I started taking our dog, Brady to Funnybones a few weeks ago. We could not be happier with the facility, owners and staff. I can hear Charlene shout out Brady's name as soon as I get her out of the car. When we hand Brady over, she drags Charlene to the back and jumps at the door to get through. She doesn't give us a second thought and when we pick her up she is exhausted which is good for a 10 month old puppy. If you need a great doggie daycare, look no further. Funnybones for Dogs, #Lilburn #Georgia ... A place that you should NEVER leave your dogs. If #FunnyBones' treatment of humans is any indication of how they might treat animals when their owners are not present to observe, the risk is much too great. We tried it out for a 'play day' a couple of months ago knowing that we would need a week's boarding in December - that one day seemed to go well enough except for the owner's dad's non-stopping talking (practically yelling so that we could hardly get a word in edgewise) - we felt this was odd behavior (#TrustYourGut). However, when we left our two dogs at Funny Bones last week while we were out of town, our experience upon leaving the dogs and upon our return ensured that we will never use them again and will encourage anyone we know who loves their dogs to find other options. Without any other options, we left the dogs there for the week. Upon return we went to pay our week's bill and were shocked that it was over $100 more than what was quoted. Rather than explaining the breakdown of the costs, the employee laughed at us for not knowing their policies - the owner's dad then came out front and refused to stop talking and listen to our questions. My dad finally asked for the owner's dad to listen to him for a moment so that they might get to the bottom of the confusion and the owner's dad then laughed in his face. Having experienced how Funnybones treats people we are certainly never going to be taking our dogs there again. My baby Sugar, had the time of her life at Funny bones! I had only had this active puppy (she is one years old) for 4 weeks by her first visit to this god-send. Walks in the morning and short runs after work were becoming great for my waistline but just not enough activity for her. Someone recommended Funnybones for Dogs and I had to try them. I could not be more pleased. I dropped "Shug" off around 8 am and picked her up at 5 p.m. (their available hours are even earlier for drop off and later for pick up, but I decided to get her right after work.). Sugar never looked back! She was happy, excited.... actually ecstatic from the start! She made human friends (the staff) and doggie friends (their other "clients") instantaneously! She finally had the playmates she had been yearning! I know that she played her little puppy-heart out all day because she slept (snoring loudly) from the ride back home and all through the night! It's unfortunate, because a year ago, I would have given this company a 5 star review. All of the reviews that are written are totally true, the staff LOVE their jobs and are SO HAPPY at 6 in the morning (almost too chipper for those of us who are NOT morning people haha) Dogs go through a day of assessment before they are allowed to come play daily to test their behavior and make sure they are a good fit for the facility. They have various parties and events throughout the year for the dogs. For the past year, this has place has been a lifesaver! My 65lb lab/shepherd mix has loved going for both day play and extended stay when we go out of town. Recently, however, it seems that things have drastically changed. The owner, Kenya, is not around at all anymore and has handed the reigns over to her father, Kenny. Although their website says that they cap overnight guests to 45, he told us recently that they had 90 boarding. Plus, they still allow parents to drop off their dogs for day play, so there are easily 100 dogs at a time. This one particular day in which there was an "incident" between my dog and another (no injuries), he told us that there were 60 big dogs. This is a 5000 sq ft facility divided into a Small and Large dog area. No rules or regulations for doggie daycares, but guidelines typically recommend 100 sq ft/large dog. So 60 large dogs should essentially have 6000 sq ft. Plus the way in which the situation was explained to us by Kenny, was completely unprofessional. It is well known that overcrowding causes aggression. And the unfortunate thing is that I have a number of friends who bring their dogs here (at my recommendation), and they report similar stories. I definitely won't be bringing my dog back unless they start setting some limits on the number of dogs they have (as in the past). To know that my dog was doing great and getting rave reviews from Staff members (in fact, one staff member cried when we told her we would not be back), and then due to overcrowding is now upset and stressed out, it is frustrating. He had such a great time over the past year and to see it change so drastically just because of what appears to be a change in management is upsetting. We will be finding a new place to take him where they limit the number of dogs to an amount reasonable for their facility size. read more

I've taken my dogs off and on to Funnybones when I had to go out of town and have always felt very comfortable leaving them. (and I am very protective about my dogs!)... But they really proved themselves when I had a dog I was fostering that was suffering from separation anxiety. He would go bonkers if left alone. This place is spectacular! I went by during a time when I needed to board my dog everyday for about a month because of construction on my house. The man that I spoke to was very friendly he was the owner's father. He gave me a lot of pertinent information about the services provided. He asked me what kind of dog I had and when I told him it was a pit bull he informed me that they did not accept pit bulls. Then after talking with me for a little while about my dog which I had told him I had boarded many times in California and he had gone to Doggy Day Care most of his life he agreed to let me bring the dog in for a consultation. After bringing my dog in he evaluated him and agreed to let him stay. I was in the process of selling my house and moving back to California. I had people working on the house while I was at work and needed somebody to keep my dog during the day. This is a top-notch organization. The treatment that both my dog and myself got was awesome. I really appreciated that they made an exception based on the dog and not the breed. I highly recommend them to anyone who is thinking about putting their dog and daycare or boarding. read more

This place is a lot of fun for one of my dogs - the big, exuberant, never-stops-playing, ridiculously-friendly-with-all-dogs-and-people Labrador Retriever. But she actually injured her paws from running and playing so much on the gravel. The staff was really good about helping her calm down and take a break when she needed to after that, and we didn't have any more problems with her. Unfortunately, my other dog is smaller and more anxious, and he got really stressed when we boarded them here. They shared a crate at nap & bedtime, but weren't in the same playgroup - even though my little guy would have been perfectly happy with the big dogs, I guess some of them like to pick on little dogs, so it wouldn't work. He actually picked up a really bad nervous habit of chewing our bigger dog's fur off - at first I thought they had taken the clippers to her...she used to have such a pretty coat. So anyway, we don't take them there anymore (found another place nearby that's more home-like and the dogs play in smaller customized playgroups in a big grassy yard), but it's just a matter of knowing your dogs' temperaments and whether they can handle all-day group play. read more

THINK TWICE! I use to think this was a great place, but you never know what goes on when you are not there to watch it. Also, I got tired of the rudeness. The first few times that I picked up my dog, he was happy to be there. After a while, I started to worry because he was afraid to go to one of the older males who works there. He actually acted fearful of this man. When I dropped him off the last time, he was clean. I came back earlier than they expected and he was filthy and smelled really bad. After I bathed him, I discovered that he had a scab on his chest that was not there when I dropped him off. I have found some of the staff to be very rude as well. I will never take my dog there again. You might think they love your dog, while you are there to observe, but you do not know what goes on when you are gone. My dog's fear of this person says something. You can not talk to the owner or staff. They can do NO WRONG and in fact, get upset if you ask them to do anything special. If they had better management skills, they would realize that the "customer is always right" The Last time I needed boarding for my dog, I took them to the Pet Lodge, which is in the same general area of town. They have a completely different attitude towards thier customers and dogs! I recommend Pet Lodge! read more
