Had an amazing experience here this weekend. We needed some dog food that seemed like it might be sold out, but Weston was able to find one last bag in the back. The story could have ended there, but Weston noticed we were also buying some prescription dog food and asked if we had activated some extra reward offers on our Petsmart account. I didn't even know this was a thing, but Weston offered to help me through it, including patiently waiting while I reset my password and got logged in. This location is horrible. The Manager Frieda is rude and uncaring and the Regional Manager Dawn is equally unhelpful. We took our Huskies in for grooming. After 4 hours, we got a call that one husky had to be rushed to the emergency vet because he gouged his eye on a kennel. They called us after he had been to the vet and gave different stories about what happened. Petsmart paid for the emergency vet and a follow up with our vet, but refuses to pay for any additional follow up that may be needed. Because of the above, they didn't finish grooming our other husky. Frieda said she would comp his return and make sure everything went well. I emailed her saying not to shave at all, which shouldn't be needed because he was 90% groomed a week prior. I also told her and the groomer this at drop off and an assistant manager told me it is their policy not to shave without customer permission prior. When we picked up our husky from this follow up grooming, the groomer and Frieda said nothing about shaving and I have confirmed the groomer made no notes about doing so. Hours later he was laying on his back and I saw that they shaved his entire underside. Petsmart refuses to do anything to make this right and pay for any health issues that can result from shaving a husky. Stay Away. read more

I think this is still in the beginning stages and they're not very reliable. I cancel that appointment, and then they sent me a reminder of the same appointment. Took my pup here for a nail clipping and overall a nice experience! Love that their grooming and nail services are open on Sundays and you don't need an appointment for nail clippings which makes it really convenient and leaves me with no excuse not to get his nails clipped (only $9 as well, holla!) Very clean location with friendly staff but it's hidden back in the shopping center it's in so it could be difficult to find if you're not familiar with the area. read more

Petsmart and Banfield have always been my go-to for all of the dogs I have had over the years. I have to say a stand-out location for grooming is the University location. I have come to learn that grooming dogs is not a glamorous job. The groomers at the salon genuinely care about the dogs they work with and are dedicated to extra care for animals with health challenges.No matter who you decide to go to, the groomers are all superstars at this location. My nightmare experience with the grooming dept @Petsmart began on 3/3/21.I took in my 12y/o papillon for his 1st ever "trimming" with VERY specific instructions--DO NOT TOUCH EARS OR TAIL! Easy,right? WRONG!!!l Beau's ear fringe(lace) which took 12 yrs.to grow/was 3 inches long,was totally cut off.Who does that?? If you were the groomer, wouldn't you stop for a sec to evaluate why did the normal hair lace off every 3rd hair + now be whacked off? Hmmm. Maybe re-read owner-written instructions and standard? Na! She said trim it! Beau's tail WAS 12" long,stretched up to collar. Now,the longest part is 3". His "coulot" area, under tail,was 12 inches long. Now,it's also cut off to nothing. He has no beard left. His side's are all gone, I asked for straightening of ends! There's so much hair removed around neck that his collar is loose. This pap was of show quality,standard!.I had repeatedly gave very special instructions to groomer and also put it in writing. Now what? I gave a #1 rating cause he smelled good! read more

I was nervous walking in as my scheduled appointment time was starting to get passed being in line. There are two entrances which is confusing and made me get yelled at because workers weren't sure who was there longer etc. I could tell they knew they were acting unprofessional and came off rude after they apologized. I was relieved to see my dogs groomer was not the rude people who I had interactions with. Missy did a terrific job with my dog and was so sweet and the reason for the 4 stars. If you can avoid this location and purchase from ANYWHERE else I recommend saving yourself the headache and frustration. The people they have working here are very rude and inconsiderate. They are unwilling to help or answer questions. A curbside order takes 30-40 minutes because their staff is "on break". And they bring out one thing at a time regardless of which customer arrived first. Not efficient. And this is the least busy location. This is a problem at all employee levels. I took my new 4mo. old kitten to Kristina to trim his claws. She was very friendly and full of good information. She handled "Mr. Parker" with great confidence. I felt very comfortable letting her handle him. He didn't get scared or freaked out which was amazing as the room was also filled with dogs being groomed. All of the animals looked as though they were being well cared for. Great experience! Will definately go back. We (Mr. Parker and I) also found a good selection of treats and toys and of course had to pick up a few. read more

Terrible management and service. The "sales associates" that work in the fish department know nothing about fish and do not take care of the fish as needed. They are rude, flighty and dismissive. The manager Frieda is incredibly rude and refused to sell me a few FEEDER gold fish because I wanted to use them for a work prank- after which I planned to keep them in a tank at my home. I asked her why when the fish are bred to literally be FED and KILLED by larger animals to which she replied "are you feeding it to a snake?" I responded "no, you know I'm not" and she quipped back "then I'm not selling you any fish". When I asked if that was PetSmart policy- she responded "no. We ask questions to decide if it's appropriate to sell the fish and it's my call and decision not to sell to you". I was ready to spend well over a hundred dollars on fish and pet supplies but ended up putting everything back because Frieda is so rude and inappropriate. I went to another pet store, bought everything I needed including fish- and surprise! They are alive and well today. Do yourself a favor and go down the street to somewhere else. read more

PetSmarts are pretty much the same everywhere, but this location is one of the better ones. It's always well-stocked and clean, and the employees are friendly. They carry the litter and food we need for our cats, and a plethora of toys for keeping them entertained... I mean spoiled. We also bought a hamster here, and they carry everything he needs as well. Most importantly, prices are consistently low, about 10-20% lower than the PetCo up the street. A convenient one-stop shopping spot for your furry family members. read more

I do primarily all my shopping for my dogs at this store. It is a typical corporate layout, but the people who work there are very helpful. The prices tend to be pretty good and you can take your dogs into the establishment with you. I take my Husky-Grey Hound in every week to weigh her to make sure she isn't losing weight because of a sickness that she has of the liver. They have never stopped me and if your dog decides to make a mess in the floor there are cleaning stations in several spots. Overall, this is a good place to shop and I highly recommend it. read more

The WORST grooming experience ever! Will never bring my dog here again. My daughter's dropped off my dog to the groomer for a haircut, bath and nail trim. When my daughter's arrived to pick up my dog, they were told by Jennifer that she had to cut his ears shorter then was requested due to the fact that his ears were matted. While disappointed with how short his ears were that would have been fine except that she also cut both of his ears. Both of his ears were bleeding and she proceeded to tell my daughter's that they needed to put bandaids on both ears and watch him carefully due to the fact that he may hemorrhage because he was flopping his ears around. My dog is 10 years old and has been groomed every 6 to 8 weeks as long as we've had him. Never has anyone ever cut his ears until they were bleeding. What is listed as a 3 to 4 hour hair cut per my online appointment was actually done in 2 hours. My daughter stated it appeared as if all the groomer cared about was making sure she was off of work on time. Below is a picture. If you wear a mask and gloves you WILL be TARGETED. And abused by some of the staff AND store manager while those customers LEANING on the belt at the register, who are UNGLOVED and UNMASKED are not told to back up!! I went to pick up much needed pet supplies recently. The store was pretty dead, everyone EXCEPT me had NO PPE ( presonal protective gear) on. They did NOT wipe the ATM machines or the door handles or the belt or counter at the register while I was there for at least 30 minutes. The store leader, FRIEDA, a young woman in her early 30s at most, seemed VERY brusque, and was clearly uncomfortable near me. I brushed it off as just stress and the fact there were not alot of employees at the store to help. I informed her at the very beginning that I was not sick. I got to the register and was assisted by an elderly cashier, white woman in her mid to late 60s, named NANCY. Nancy proceeded to tell me to BACK AWAY despite the fact I was on MY SIDE of the register!! I was confused and shocked at first. I asked why? She stated" We are practicing social distancingof 6 feet!" I replied," SO am I! And Im the ONLY one wearing a mask and gloves unlike anyone here!" Mind you, if I were to be 6 feet away from this woman, I would have to skip a register and stand across from her with an ENTIRELY EMPTY register between us!. Instead of dealing with the employee properly, the manager, FRIEDA, proceeded to CHASTISE ME!! She. Informed me they wre practicing social distancing and that she was informed by Petsmart that anyone wearing masks and gloves were to be assumed to be sick!!! I honestly was taken aback at the level of her utter ignorance. I informed her that not ONLY was I NOT sick, but that I was the ONLY one in that store practicing any safety precautions since I was at great risk of getting Pnuemonia! Frieda then told Nancy to go to another register to help the other customers. I said I would appreciate it if Nancy DID leave since she was being ridiculous. Frieda KEPT defending both their behavior even when I pointed directly to the other customers who had their hands and bodies ON TOP of the BELT NEAR NANCY the cashier! Closer than I had been!! Frieda IGNORED my observations despite being at the very next register. I informed her I was going to complain about her and Nancy. She said, " Go ahead". Well, I did call corporate, and I informed someone who answered how I was targeted and abused. She is an RN and her family are RNS and she was shocked at how ignorant Frieda AND Nancy were and agreed I had been targeted. Im warning everyone here: This Petsmart at 8222 University BLVD has at least 2 dangerously ignorant and abusive employees at this site and Id avise you go to another store. This was hurtful to me, and harmful to the general public. Waiting for corporate to deal wtih these idiots U{DATE: As of friday, April 3 2020: NOBODY from Corporate has called me to deal with the targeted abuse I suffered from UNPROTECTED store leader Frieda and her hysterical UNPROTECTED cashier, Nancy. This is clearly a company who does NOT care about protecting its customers or dealing with innapropriate employees. Yes, this is a regular PetSmart, but the customer service I received this past weekend motivated me to write a review. Sadly, I did not get his name, but one employee was VERY helpful. He helped me pick a replacement litter box and even carried two boxes of litter up to the check-out line for me. Super nice! Overall, I do like PetSmart better than PetCo. I had tried PetCo first as they are super close to home, but they didn't have any litter boxes with hinged lids (a must for scooping ease). And PetSmart has the unscented litter I like that apparently Target has stopped carrying. read more

This is a big store, but it has a really small fish department. Not much selection, no saltwater at all, and the tanks are tiny. Don't come here looking for medium or large sized fish (more than two or three inches long), as they don't have the space to even stock them. That said, this is a good place to come for people who are just starting out as they tend to have smaller setups that require smaller fish. The staff can be very good, but some of the associates are more knowledgeable than others. The selection of hermit crab shells is pretty meager and overpriced. They tend to stock shells that aren't good for the species of hermit crabs that they sell (oval-shaped openings instead of circular ones), which is a bummer. I've actually had better luck shopping for shells at Hobby Lobby. If you're looking for cat and dog stuff, though, you're sure to find what you're looking for. read more

My boyfriend and I have had hamsters for awhile and when we purchased a dwarf hamster and a Russian hamster we thought it would be no different, we were wrong. After only 4 days both the hamsters were found dead in their beds, they were housed separately and we have another hamster we had purchased months before that from a different store and he was fine. We also got a fish from there, a species we've had multiples of before and and he died within a day, even though we have other fish living just fine in the tank. I have 2 wonderful little mice from this petsmart who so far(after a month) haven't turned out sick. Having those little lives die on you is a lot to handle and having 3 from the same store within a couple months is very off. read more

For someone to think they can belittle another person because of the position they stand in is not ok. It makes the store q bad place to come because of how I see employees be treated. You cannot keep adult male mice together. They fight. I showed manager Freida a bloody male mouse today, housed in a tiny little cage with two other adult male mice. She said "they came in together". So that absolves you of taking care of them? How little attention do you give your small pets to NOT see they are scarred, missing fur, and have ACTUAL BLOOD on them? The bloody one was on top of the wheel, trying to find safety. Freida said "it will get a vet appointment", in the same tone you might say "we'll flush him down the toilet". Also, "it"? Freida is so used to Petsmart treating their small animals/birds/reptiles/fish so badly, she can't even use a pronoun. Petsmart - "Where pets are family" - yes, if your is a bunch of sadists.
