Our experience with Bruce at Dog Behaviors Denver has been absolutely phenomenal. We have a Shepherd/Cattle Dog mix (high energy, high intelligence), and before meeting Bruce, we had tried multiple trainers, most of whom were only okay. Initially, we knew some basic commands, but the biggest struggle we could not overcome was our dog's obedience or reactivity concerns. Before Bruce, our dog did not do well with other dogs and people on walks, and guests couldn't come to our home due to fear of being accidentally hurt by him. Our lowest point was when our boy bit a lady at a local Farmer's Market, where we were attempting to do some training with him, and he became startled. We utilized as much of the training we had worked on with other trainers, but it wasn't enough. That's when we called Bruce. Here's our experience: at the initial meeting, we were very impressed with Bruce's resume and we could tell by his skill-set that he would be able to turn our boy around. Bruce had over 15 years experience working with dogs who were relinquished due to aggression or behaviors at a local humane society, turning them into confident, obedient and adoptable dogs. Not to mention, he also trained in Germany for 3+ years overseas with a military-style training for police dogs. Bruce uses a combination of high-drive reinforcement and timely corrections One thing to keep in mind though, you get out what you put in. If you aren't willing to do the work, Bruce might not be the right guy for you. We were pretty motivated and found a lot of success with Bruce. Within the first few sessions, we saw noticeable changes in our dog's behavior; he was gaining confidence through the consistency and training Bruce taught us about. Bruce's ability to fine-tune all the mixed signals we were giving AND giving us detailed explanations of why they were important to correct, completely changed everything for us. He even explains the science behind some of the techniques, which we appreciated. Our closest family and friends knew all the struggles we had experienced with our boy before Bruce. They have been so impressed with how much progress our dog has made. We would absolutely recommend Bruce to anyone needing dog training. You will be able to tell the passion and love for what he does the first time you meet him! read more

We worked with Bruce to help us with our greyhound and whippet, they both were reactive to other dogs, making it difficult to walk them without being on constant alert. Bruce's guidance and tools gave us the confidence to support our pups and develop their improved behavior. He also helped us understand the underlying rationale on the tools we learned. Both of our guys have been so much better, well behaved and more at ease. We were even able to take our Grey to a fun dog run and he was one of the most well mannered dogs! We honestly can't believe the dramatic change in our dogs. Thank you Bruce! read more

We can't thank Bruce enough for the amazing work he's done with our pups! Our 4-year-old maltipoo, Lucy, was showing signs of food aggression and wasn't great at listening. She would even nip at us or other dogs when food was around. Thanks to Bruce's guidance and training techniques, she's like a new dog! She's calmer, listens so much better, and the food-related aggression is under control. We also recently adopted a high-energy 1-year-old rescue, Rambo (he's part blue heeler), who came to us from an abusive situation so he was very reactive and hard to manage. Bruce has been incredible with him. Rambo is now learning to focus, follow commands, and is making huge progress. Bruce's expertise and calm, confident approach has made a world of difference. We have recommended him to friends, family and co-workers. Highly suggest you work with Bruce if you need help with your dog! read more

Bruce is an incredible trainer and has helped me gain control in times I felt helpless with my dog Blu. Blu suddenly started to become aggressive with me and Bruce gave me the tools to learn how to be alpha and gain control and respect from my boy. I've learned so much about dog behavior, different cues and body language my dog carries and what he is signaling to me, as well as how to carry myself in a way that is portraying leadership and demanding respect from my dog. Without Bruce, I know I would have given up. I'll be forever grateful for the tools he has given me not only in regard to Blu, but also for all the dogs I will have in my future. read more

Our experience with Bruce has been nothing short of stellar. Our adorable but feisty and nervous boxer has made significant improvement through our sessions with Bruce. He does a great job of giving you the tools and mindset to make real positive change in your dog's life. Would highly recommend. read more

We have had multiple trainers tell us we had no chance of "fixing our pups issue" and to rehome our baby. We had severe reactivity issues and deferred aggression that led to brutal fights. Bruce was very supportive and has helped us to successfully train us and our dogs to live in harmony. He offers continued communications and at a fraction of the cost. We highly recommend Bruce for your furry family training!! read more

We have been extremely lucky to have found Bruce. We began to work with Bruce on basic obedience and reactivity training for our sweet but anxious dog Rocki, who struggled with lunging at people and in some cases aggression towards both people and dogs. After finding great success with Bruce's methods and his firm but patient approach with Rocki, we started working with Bruce on scent training. Not only is scent training fun for our whole family, but it engages Rocki and gives her a sense of purpose. She's such a smart dog and really lights up every time we put her scent harness on. At first, I was skeptical about the value of scent training- we don't plan on entering Rocki in any competitions or making use of her talents professionally. But learning how to use her natural instincts has resulted in a marked improvement in her behavior and well-being. I'd strongly recommend Bruce both for obedience/reactivity and scent training! read more

We're glad we found Bruce, he knows what he's doing and he's very patient. Bruce gave us some new techniques for basic obedience training. Even though we've had dogs for years, sometimes we humans needs a refresher. I like the way he describes certain behaviors and phrases he uses that I've never heard before. He is always available via phone when I have questions and helped us have a smoother transition when we added another canine family member. I'll be recommending Bruce to family and friends. It's important to go to a good trainer and animal behaviorist. read more

When we adopted our dog in early 2022, the shelter assured us that he was a super friendly dog to both people and other dogs. Once we brought him home, we quickly began to realize that was not the case. He immediately began showing signs of resource guarding. He would growl, bark, and lunge at friends and family who came over, and people who came remotely close to us on walks. He would pull at the leash and excessively bark and growl at dogs who were yards away. We knew we needed help and felt helpless, stressed and frustrated, until we found Bruce.  During our very first session with Bruce, our dog reacted and tried to bite him. Yet Bruce told us that by the end of our training sessions, we'd be able to walk downtown during a busy afternoon without our dog reacting aggressively to people or other dogs. I remember leaving that day thinking "there is no way." We continued to work with Bruce and now we have a completely different dog. Within our first few sessions we saw a noticeable difference. Now, our dog does not react to other dogs or people on walks, and he has amazing recall. He is a happier dog who was once carrying a lot of stress and frustration. We can finally have people over to our house again. Bruce does not offer a "quick fix" and any dog trainer who claims to do that should be avoided. Bruce allows you to train a dog who will behave for a lifetime, not for a moment. He tailors his training style and techniques to your dog's individual background, needs, and behavior. He listens to your concerns and genuinely cares about the success of your dog. Now when we take our dog out, people comment on how well-behaved he is. They ask us how we trained him, and when we share his history, they are in disbelief.  Having a reactive dog can feel isolating and helpless, but you are not alone. I can't stress this enough, if you're thinking about working with Bruce, don't hesitate. It saved us, and it saved our dog. read more

Bruce has a specialized training in German, so he could be very effective training problematic dogs. He also has a service dog trained by himself, and it's impressive how she behave with so little commands. I had a dog with problems, mostly while I was walking him on the streets, and he met other dogs. It was almost impossible to walk with him. And to guarantee my peace, I had to walk around oddly hours. After few training sessions, it was like another dog appeared! I really recommend his services. read more

Bruce is my 3rd dog behaviorist and wow is he amazing! I rescued Charlie from the behavioral unit at my local shelter. I didn't realize Charlie was so aggressive and not socialized when I brought him home. The first two behaviorist I hired were not able to make any progress with Charlie. I just had my 4th lesson with Bruce. The change is amazing, in what he has taught Charlie and myself. There is hope if you have a aggressive dog. Hire Bruce you will be amazed at the results. We all want our dogs to be happy and healthy, I see a bright future now thanks to Bruce and his training. Paula S. read more

Bruce helped us a lot with our very, very difficult German Shepherd puppy, Talus. I think he's the fourth trainer we've worked with for him. We've definitely still got progress to make with Talus, but we've been able to get him out into the world with us more and that's been an amazing boost. read more

Bruce is a great trainer. He's helping my wife and I get our two dogs to stop fighting each other. This was an extreme situation since out dogs were raised together, and suddenly started fighting and drawing blood on each other. It was very hard time for us, and bruce has helped us through every step of the way. With our situation and our large dogs, he taught us and them how to maintain obedience and control, while we still have more work to do, each dog individually has become an outstanding listener and followers of commands . read more

We started working with Bruce a few months ago, with our two Goldens, after one of our Goldens bit someone and started to have leash aggression towards other dogs. Since working with Bruce our dogs have come leaps and bounds. Bruce so clearly gives you the tools on how to take control of your dog and bring their obedience to a level you never thought was possible. read more

I am about 1/2 way through training with my 2+ yo lab Remy. To be honest, I thought Remy was a lost cause because he was aggressive and wouldn't follow the simplest instructions. After 3 lessons with Bruce, he's walking politely on the leash. He can sit/stay and he's very close to dropping whenever I "down" him. Bruce is an amazing animal trainer and I highly recommend him for any dog training, but especially if you have a particularly stubborn beast like Remy. He's come a long way to becoming the well-behaved dog that I was hoping for. Bruce is great! read more

Bruce has been helping us with our 3 dogs over the last several weeks and we started seeing results from the first session. His techniques have helped us reestablish the hierarchy in our newly expanded pack and correct some of our dogs' stress inducing behaviors. I would highly recommend Bruce to any dog owner. read more

My wife and I have been working with Bruce for over 7 months now, and the difference in our dogs is unbelievable! After building our training skills and learning how to communicate with our pups, they trust us to be in charge rather than trying to take control themselves. We can do things I never dreamed of doing with our dogs (both of whom have bite histories), like dropping their leashes and giving them commands from a distance- that they actually follow! I am so grateful for our time with Bruce, it has completely changed our lives as dog parents and given us so much more peace of mind. I would recommend him to anyone who is struggling to find the right trainer. Our dogs love him, too! read more

I recently relocated to Denver and my younger dog (6 years old) was very stressed after the move and experiencing a lot of leash aggression towards other dogs on walks. I was feeling helpless in controlling her and saw her aggression was getting worse, to the point where I couldn't bring her to parks in fear that too many other dogs would be around for me to control her. I signed both of my dogs up for training, and already after just 4 sessions with Bruce, I see a complete change in her personality! She obeys commands and shows less fear, anxiety, and aggression towards other dogs on the leash. She is more calm and listens to commands in the house as well. We practice the new training techniques on a daily basis so it comes second-nature to her, and are already back to walking at parks and starting to meet other dogs without fear. I couldn't be more thankful for all the training help, and I can't wait to see how she continues to progress as we finish the training program! Bruce is so great with aggressive/ difficult-to-train dogs, I'd recommend him to anyone who is looking for help with their pup. read more
