I found Wagging Pawsibilities Dog Training through word of mouth. We found our dog on the street and after finalizing her adoption, we decided we needed to do training with her. Her name is Adore and she is a yorkipoo who is approximately two years old. We decided on WPDT and Ethan because after speaking with him, I loved his philosophy. Originally, I wanted to do private lessons and he recommended doing his beginning class to give Adore a foundation. He won me over on the phone because he spoke about positive training and that his preference was to reward dogs for good behavior as opposed to punishing them for bad behavior. Ethan really listened to what I needed as someone who wanted the possibility of training my dog as an eventual service dog and responded to that. And, if I had positive feelings after speaking with him on the phone, they only increased exponentially after doing the beginners class. He worked wonders with all of the dogs in there. Beyond that though, he also worked wonders with all of the humans. He taught us how to build strong relationships with our dogs through training and playing. Ethan's ability to teach people how to train their dogs goes unparalleled by any other trainer I have worked with. Many trainers are either great with the dogs or the humans but he is wonderful with both. In our class we had puppies, older dogs, small dogs and large dogs with all different issues, and all went away better trained. During my time working with him, I also had an aging dog, Joy, (around 13 yo) and I will be forever grateful for Ethan and how he taught us that dogs were never too old to train. My last four months with Joy were some of the best of our lives together because I learned new ways to play with her and I could see our already incredible bond increase because of Ethan's teachings. Although I have moved from Denver, I continue to use his teachings to work with Adore and further her training work. I have also worked with my mom's dog using what he taught me. My relationship with both dogs have been made better because of Ethan and I would recommend him to anyone. If I were still in Denver, I would be doing private lessons with him regularly. You cannot find a trainer who gives more of himself and who loves dogs more. It is clear he genuinely loves his job and his patience with teaching makes the trainings a wonderful place to be. When we adopted our second dog, Mila, we didn't find out until the day we picked her up that she was a stray her entire life. This meant that she had absolutely no idea how to interact with people, other dogs, or how to behave in a home. This was a big problem because not only do we have another dog and live in the suburbs, but we also have an eight month old baby. We had her for about two weeks when my husband and I realized we were in way, way over our heads as far as training goes. We were so tired and frustrated that we were already planning on finding her a new home. This dog basically did everything wrong that she possibly could. It was chaos. The reason I say all of this is to emphasize how far she's come. We called Ethan and he came to our house the very next day. The pricing for home visits was extremely reasonable and better than anywhere else we looked. I already began to feel hopeful after the consultation with Ethan. He stayed for an hour and a half and was very reassuring and encouraging. Ethan recommended six visits but because we were basically starting from scratch, we chose to do eight. Fast forward two months later and our little tasmanian devil of a dog now knows twelve commands and we are working on another two or so. It's incredible. In addition to helping us train our dog, Ethan was quick to email back during the week whenever we encountered a problem. Mila now interacts well with other dogs and can even play in groups, she has become gentle and patient with our baby, she leaves our stuff alone whether it is food on the counters or shoes or the baby's toys, she's improved drastically with her patience when guests come over (she no longer jumps and instead goes to her bed), she's stopped the incessant barking at everything, and so much more. This was the best decision we've made with our dogs and we're so thankful we had Ethan's help. read more

It's been over a year since we started working with Ethan. When I requested info from his site, he called me back within a few minutes. Since then, we have worked on several behaviors. The current rescue dog we have has been my most challenging dog - she is afraid/nervous in every new situation. For example, walking her on the bike path and having a bike pass us is different than having someone on a skateboard pass us (or a runner, or someone on a scooter...). She also barks at people walking by the front of the house (not even ringing the doorbell!). We also had 3 different people that took the dogs on walks - all with different commands. Ethan and the techniques he taught us has helped this dog become calmer, more responsive to commands and has give the adults working with the dog a common language. We do still practice on barking at the doorbell, but we've moved beyond the challenges we had a year ago to new freedoms for the dog. Now that her barking at the fence is more under control, we've been able to add a dog door so she can come and go in the back yard! FYI - We did puppy socialization during the dog's first year at a local pet store. The lessons from Ethan were while the dog was 3. We did an initial 6-lesson package and used those all within about 2 months to make some huge strides early. We purchased a 2nd 6-lesson package that we used up much slower to work on new things as they came up. We plan to purchase other packages just to keep the positive trends going and possibly get the kids involved in training when they're old enough. read more

My wife and I adopted two rescue dogs three years ago. Both dogs had been previously abused/neglected. We immediately fell in love with both of them. For the first 2 years and 10 months, everything was fine. About 2 months ago, in what appeared to be out of the blue, they began to attack each other. Our two dogs were fighting constantly. The fights were extremely frightening. They were physically hurting each other and we had to take both of them to the vet twice. The vet suggested putting the more dominant dog on Valium and we tried it, but it just made things even worse. Both my wife and myself had gotten bit trying to break up fights between the two dogs. It got to the point that we were facing ever dog owner's worse nightmare, we were considering giving up one of our two dogs, one of our two family members. Instead, we began to work with Ethan multiple times a week. He educated us on the signs that we missed early on. He showed us how to assert our dominance over both dogs in a gentle way using positive reinforcement. He checked in with us regularly via email making sure that we were ok and assuring us that we were not alone. He showed us how to retrain our dogs so that they associated each other with only positive things. The fights began to decrease. The dogs began to play together again. They started acting like brothers again. It has now been almost a month since their last fight. We feel as if we have our family back. We owe it all to Ethan! He truly is a miracle worker. I left a review after our first session with Ethan but wanted to give an update. We chose a 6 session package and couldn't be happier. We initially contacted Ethan because of food aggression with our dogs. Not only have they not had any issues with aggression since our first session, they are better mannered overall. In addition to the food issue we worked on dog relaxation, leash manners, sit, down, stay, come, leave it and go find it. Ethan showed us several games to play with our dogs. My fiance and I are enjoying time with our fur babies now!! There is no more yelling and frustration. We can have them calm down and reward them with treats and praise. One of the last things we worked on was manners related to opening the door. Our lab and weimaraner are easily excited, and at about 75 pounds each can be a handful. Although we didn't have time to perfect the behavior before our last session was up Ethan gave us the tools to keep working on it. He was always professional and easy to reach. Unfortunately I had to reschedule on him twice and he was always nice about it. Our schedules can be hard to work with but Ethan was able to fit us in each week. We will definitely be joining a group class at some point. My fiance and I both feel like it was such a positive experience and increased our enjoyment of life with our creatures. My boyfriend and I adopted our first dog together (my first dog ever!) from a rescue organization in August. We started going to Ethan for puppy play, basic obedience, and then soon after that we completed an advanced obedience class with our Joey. I highly recommend Ethan for anyone, even first time dog owners. I've felt so inspired to do what's best for our dog and practice the tools that the classes have given us. We adopted Bill in November 2013. He was listed as a "shy" dog who had been a stray. He quickly adapted to our household but that was all. He was afraid on walks, completely intimidated by noises and fearful of all humans outside of the two of us. When he barked for 3 days straight at our guests we knew he needed something we could not provide without help. Ethan began training Bill about 7 weeks ago. This week we walked through Home Depot. Bill was skittish with noises but not fearful. He walked as a confident dog, not with his tail up but also not tucked, just relaxed. He was willing to walk around, curious about everything just as long as not approached by people. Ethan was able to bring confidence to this sweet dog that I thought would never be able to take a leash walk to the mailbox. Ethan is patient and calm, just what Bill needed. He takes as much pleasure out of watching Bill progress as we do. This is a different dog than the one we adopted. Wagging Pawsibilities just gets better and better! We've worked with Ethan off and on for a few years both in class and for home sessions when we first got our dogs and again when we added a third to our pack. Being cattle dogs, they can be quite reactive to other dogs, noises, when someone is at the door...you get the idea. I recently attended WP new reactivity class and it really helped! We are a work in progress and it takes time working with them, but I now feel like we have the tools we needed to teach our pups what is appropriate behavior! The class is held outdoors in "real life" and in small groups with immediate feedback. This helped my confidence when practicing between classes. I attended a class from another business last year that was inside with the dogs walled off from each. It didn't provide much face to face practice with the other dogs and I felt it was a waste of my time and money. The Reactive Dog Class offered through Wagging Pawsibilities, LLC is nothing short of amazing. Not only did my pup and I gain tools in which we can use in various situations, we were able to practice them in a safe environment and ask questions each week to informed and kind trainers. The class is taught outdoors in different parks in order to enhance the learning experiences throughout the course. There is only a small group of dogs in each class so that we receive tailored training and are able to truly learn the skills in each session. What's more, the families attending this course are all in the same boat; we all have reactive dogs and we do not judge and ridicule one another for the ways in which our dogs may behave - that part was so special! Having used Wagging Pawsibilities twice now, I have to say they are excellent! The first time was one on one private training with a rescue dog I brought back from overseas. On this occasion, Ethan worked with us. I was really impressed with his patience, professionalism and his solutions for addressing the dog's anxieties. He also provided guidance for exercises at home to help the dog adjust. The second time, I utilized the online training option. I had a very clever dog in my overseas home with behavioral problems and seriously too smart for her own good. I was surprised the the online lessons were just as effective. My instructor, Eske, was able to observe her behavior and walk me through training exercises. He also gave me a regimen of activities to engage her in and ideas for mental stimulation to satisfy her need to work. The results were fantastic. Ethan is an amazing dog trainer. He helped us immensely with our German Shepard and Boxer mix. We were really struggling to attempt to teach them obedience but could not do it on our own. Ethan showed us exactly what we needed to do and was able to help with every problem we came across. Ethan worked with our schedule and and was always on time. He uses only positive reinforcement which ended up being the most effective thing for our dogs. We are so thrilled with the results because it took him no time at all to teach our dogs everything we needed them to know. Now both of our dogs can go to the dog park and play without being scared, and we can take them to the lake with out the fear of them running off, we can also have friends over with out the fear of the dogs jumping all over and climbing on the couch. My nearly 11 year old Corgi mix, Dutchess, and I just finished a basic obedience class with Ethan. Dutchess already knew a few commands, but tended to be stubborn when I tried to teach her additional things, including the "down" command. Ethan's instructions and suggestions had her doing the "down" within minutes! Ethan's tone and demeanor during class and perceptiveness in how best to get each dog and his/her "parent" to succeed helped everyone in my class, not just Dutchess and me. Whenever he would demonstrate techniques for the class with one of the dogs in the class, it was like magic how easily he got each one to almost immediately do what he asked. I've already signed up for a "dog tricks" class with him for me and Dutchess and plan on registering for advanced obedience and Canine Good Citizen classes. I adopted a very sweet, timid Chihuahua from Aurora Animal Shelter in June 2018. Pebbles was so terribly shy that I was the only person she wanted to be with. She also was aggressive towards my 14 year old cat. Ethan was so kind and reassuring that he could help us with her issues and he sure did! His knowledge and training has helped her immensely. She has regular play dates with dog friends and their owners now and is getting much better towards the cat. We still have a way to go with her reluctance to meet new people and dogs but she is much improved and isn't hiding any longer. Ethan has performed miracles with Bella and Lizzie. They are 2 Scottish Terriers that were basically abandoned and left in a home for 5 months with no human interaction except a neighbor who came over once and a while to feed them. When we adopted them they were afraid, skittish and nervous with strangers, sounds, and anything they weren't sure about. They were comfortable with Ethan from day 1 because of his gentle spirit and calm approach. Through positive reinforcement they are both thriving, confident and playful. Ethan has been patient with me (and Bella and Lizzie) as I learn how to teach my dogs that living in this world is not such a scary thing. We were lucky enough to have Ethan train our dog and my mother in law's dog. Our dog did the group class as well as puppy play and really benefitted from both. I know that her owners REALLY benefitted from the group class. It was presented in a very accessible way. There was a great handout that we were able to use during class and at home. Ethan did a wonderful job explaining his training philosophy and the format of the class so we knew what to expect. There were 4 other dogs in the class and Ethan was able to help each dog/owner with their particular issue. He provided insight for why our dog had certain undesirable behaviors and how to best change so that we were happy owners and our dog is better behaved. We have the joy (most days) of having 2 (yep two) terrier puppies. Ethan and Wagging Pawsibilites have helped with behavior and my sanity. We have taken advantage of both the puppy play option at 7Hills and the private, at home training. Both have been well worth the time and money. I have especially liked the in-home training. Having the two puppies, it is often difficult to train both. Ethan has been amazing - offering advice - tips and tricks and ideas as well training. He comes prepared with training ideas for the day - but is open and communicative to find what WE need at the time. Recently I rescued two large Malamutes at the age of seven. Kiska needed to learn to share and Niko needed emancipation from being so shy and not well socialized. I found it too difficult to train both dogs together. I hired Ethan as his work with service dogs made me feel I would be in good hands with my pack. It took a few sessions and bit of time, but using Ethan's methods I was thrilled to finally take them to the dog park in our final training session and to see how friendly Niko was with other dogs.
