    Handsome and well behaved

When I adopted Bennu from the rescue, he was just a 2-3 month old puppy. I had almost zero experience with dogs and I immediately knew this one would be a handful. After months of trying to train him using a stressful regimen of constantly bribing him with increasingly high quality treats, all I had was a destructive, stubborn, aloof, "busy" puppy who could not be left alone for 2 seconds and was only calm when fast asleep. I couldn't hike or walk him as he'd leap at other dogs and people, or almost pull me off my feet. He got big, fast, and I was often in tears from the stress of living with, what I described to a friend as "a wild raccoon". Worst of all, I had no connection to him, no relationship or friendship. I started to feel unsure why I thought getting a dog would be a good idea at all. I was almost ready to call the rescue in shame and defeat, but I knew I had a duty to this puppy to seek professional help first, so I called DDK9A. I knew I did something right when, after just ONE consultation with Jack, I was empowered with enough information to stop Bennu in his tracks around the house. For the first time since adoption, no chewing, no destroying - just pure calmness. My mind was blown, I was sold, and our transformation began. Within a month, he was walking politely on leash, trustworthy off leash, and learning more and more respect for those around him. He started to actually pay attention to me and seemed to care about what I thought. Finally, Bennu and I began our relationship. Today, Bennu is *the* coolest dog I've ever known. He is calm and respectful around the house, out in public, and on the trails. I can (and do!) truly take this dog anywhere and everywhere I go. He is quiet, relaxed, and SO affectionate - something that didn't happen until I began working with Alex and Jack. I can tell now he feels happy and safe and loved. He makes me laugh, brings me comfort, gets me outside, trusts me, and listens to me unquestioningly. He is my best friend, and I would take a bullet for him. At the heart of my story with Bennu is this: I started with a wild raccoon and lots of frustration, and ended up with a soulmate. The training and guidance that Alex and Jack provide go WAY deeper than "sit" and "stay". It's like relationship counseling between you and your dog. Imagine getting to break down all the communication barriers, and unlocking your dog's true potential. I didn't even know what Bennu's potential really was, and it ended up being lightyears beyond what I expected. I worked with both Alex and Jack, but more with Alex, and she is an absolute *rockstar* and a true dog whisperer. She is responsive, engaged, and puts so much care into her work. She has seemingly bottomless knowledge and experience around dogs, and to this day she continues to be a helpful resource and friend. She changed our lives! This training is NOT for you if: You don't want to put in the work, if you don't really care that much about your relationship with your dog, and if you are unwilling to become a better person along the way. But, if you aren't afraid of a life changing experience for you and your dog, call Dream Dog K9 Academy.

Dream Dog K9 Academy is simply amazing!!  They really deserve TEN STARS!!  We just adopted our first dog back in October, (yep, our first dog).  I knew we needed a dog trainer as I had no idea what I was doing with respect to dogs.   I did a lot of research and talked with friends about different trainers and came to the conclusion that Dream Dog K9 was the way to go.  The owners who are a husband and wife team are just incredible!!  They were there for me after my one-on-one sessions if I had questions or problems.  And not only do they do the individual sessions but they also coordinate group hikes so your pup can work on his/her social skills!  So if you looking at different options right now, you have to call Dream Dog K9!!  They have been invaluable to me!

i thought training a dog would be easy - watch a few videos on youtube, read some books, ..... no.....Rover, my Golden Retriever needed professional guidance. Jack's instructions and how to practice was the key. after 4 month, Rover is my Dream Dog! thank you very much Jack !

Cleo off leash on a hike

Alex and Jack pretty much saved our dog's life. I cannot say enough great things about Dream Dog K9 Academy, their approach and, most importantly, their results. It's the best investment we've ever made. We rescued Cleo (a 1 year old Terrier mix) from a shelter in late 2019. She was extremely skittish, nervous and slow to warm up to us. We couldn't even get her to go on walks initially. Once we were able to get her out of the house, we quickly realized she had issues with reactivity. She would lunge, bark and snarl at other dogs, even from across the street or park. We worked with our vet to put her on medication and tried a treat-based training program. We didn't make much progress with this method and by the end of training they suggested we just "try to avoid other dogs." That was NOT possible in our neighborhood and given the kind of activities we wanted her to be able to do (hiking, visiting my parents and their 2 dogs, etc). The last straw was when Cleo chewed through the fencing in the backyard and attacked another dog. I didn't know what to do and it seemed like her problems were getting worse - I was at the end of my rope. My friend highly recommended Dream Dog K9 Academy and said their approach was unlike anything he'd ever seen and it was really working for his pitbull. I called Jack and he assured me he could help. We started with private lessons for Cleo and from the first minute Jack stepped in our door we learned so much about what was causing her behavior problems. A lot of what we were doing that might seem intuitive for addressing human anxiety was basically the OPPOSITE of how we needed to address the root problems Cleo had. That said, she still had a long way to go and after several lessons it became clear that she might benefit from more intensive board and train. We sent her to Alex and Jack and the first week was really tough. She was a hard case and the improvement they typically see in the first few days took Cleo a lot longer to grasp. But it finally clicked for her and we saw something we'd never seen before - a HAPPY dog who didn't act like she was constantly in a war zone. She came home from board and train a different dog and a month later she's still improving every day. We're really working on refining her behavior now but she can do things I didn't even dream possible 3 months ago - she hikes off leash (on her e-collar) and LOVES it, she can walk by other dogs on a narrow trail with no reaction, she even plays with other dogs (and if she gets a little too excited with them, she takes their social cues and backs off). THIS is the dog I wanted and I'm so grateful to Jack and Alex for helping her get here. Alex and Jack are truly amazing. They know so much about dog psychology and behavior and not only are they naturals with dogs, they are also really good instructors. I took notes after our sessions and this training is really a class for dog parents as much as for the dog. I have no doubt any dog or dog owner would benefit from this education and I know the training will pay dividends for future dogs we might have as well. They also make themselves available by email and text any time. They really care about the success of their dogs.

But once we moved to the Front Range area to be closer to our growing family, Baci needed some training. Isaac was just amazing. Calm, quiet, and easygoing. No reprimands from this guy, just relationship building, establishing trust and clear communication, and persistence. Our dog went from a highly reactive and headstrong little girl to walking on a heal with a loose leash, being able to sit on command, staying out of a designated area, and more. All in just one session. The best part is that her fun and high spirits remain fully intact. This dog is still happy, fun, and loving. Thanks, Isaac. Highly recommend!

Three days into having him and he dragged me down a hill to get to another dog. I love him, but he's an absolute psycho. I called a bunch of trainers to see if someone could help with his dog reactivity. They all flat out refused because of his age and size to train him around other dogs which is what Sheldon needed. After the first two sessions with Isaac where he shared invaluable tips, he allowed us to practice around his dog Finn (the most placid dog). Isaac was patient, calm, and supportive of our journey with Sheldon. He'd even offer guidance if I had a question about the training post-session. We're now almost a year into having Sheldon and I can comfortably walk him around other dogs with some of the cues and tips that Isaac taught me. I can take him to the park and I can have him on a long line. Today we walked passed two off leash dogs playing fetch! I'm truly grateful to Isaac for making our lives and Sheldon's life a lot less stressful.

She was a rehome situation and had been trained to use a liter box in her crate. Meghan from Training Wheels helped me train Lemon to go outside and to LOVE her crate as a safe place and not soil it. Additionally, she helped me train Lemon to be totally focused on me, even with distractions. She sits when asked, she looks to me for approval and consent, and comes when called, no matter what. She is the goodest girl now - not that she wasn't before - she is just so much better now. All of this training was done with a lot of knowledge and a lot of love from Training Wheels. I also use Training Wheels for boarding Lemon. She gets so much positive attention and interaction. I was a bit hesitant at first because there are a lot of big dogs, but the times that I have boarded her, there have been dogs her size to play with and the bigger dogs play in a different area. For sleeping, she gets her own area (with door) with plenty of space for her bed and toys and then an area for going potty, should she need to in the night (Italian Greyhounds have hamster bladders, haha). The building where she sleeps and takes naps is temperature controlled and she is surrounded by other dogs in their areas, so is never alone. There are multiple outside play areas - and they designate which areas are for which size dog, and the dogs are always supervised. Training Wheels staff are always with the dogs and interacting with the dogs. They send pics of my happy dog playing outside and running and having just the best time. I feel that my tiny dog Lemon is very safe and happy there. I can't recommend Training Wheels enough for both training and boarding. Lemon is SO well taken care of and loved.

I loved that they took the time to know each dog well and work with you one on one. It really helped my own one on one interaction with my dog. The classed allowed for two sessions (one at the beginning and one at the end) of socialization with step by steps on the training focus. Very helpful! With my busy schedule, it's hard for me to attend every Saturday, but because of their rotating schedule, I can make my missed class up as soon as they are teaching it again. This is VERY convenient and helpful. As a new client who adopted my dog, the pricing was VERY reasonable and so far, absolutely worth every dollar. She not only gave us the tools to help our dogs learn and grow, she provided me with a great deal of validation and encouragement, supporting me in trusting my instincts and my growing understanding of each of our dogs' needs and behaviors. When our puppy began exhibiting separation anxiety, Alexandra was a constant and valuable resource, helping me to work with her in increments, setting our dog up for success from 15 minute periods alone, and now up to two hours.
