I took my 13-pound dog in for a walk-in nail trim, and the groomer caused my dog to bleed. The explanation given was that my dog "jerked," despite being secured on the grooming lead. With a dog this small, that should not have happened with proper handling. Making an animal bleed during a basic service is unacceptable. Drop in nail trim and grind for my dog. She yelped during the grinding, and groomer called out her name. When I inquired, no reason was given for the yelp except maybe she is a "drama queen". Next morning, I noticed a spot on her rib cage with no hair and black skin. Vet shaved around the black skin to find large area of bleeding under the skin. Vet concluded she was hit by grinder snagging out hair and causing severe burning from abrasion and heat. A month to heal. Scar and no hair. read more

Sara is wonderful. I've been taking my Wheaten Terrier there for several years along with my young Havanese. They obviously don't like to be groomed but they're never frightened when they go there. That says a lot since the dogs are difficult to groom. My wheatie is getting pretty old and infirm. I am a new owner of a rescue 100 lb Akbash dog with separation issues and I was extremely nervous leaving him for the first time, afraid that he might hurt himself or someone else. Sara and her staff were so reassuring and kind about it that I felt okay leaving him. To top it off: they did an amazing job with him and when I picked him up he was smiling ear to ear! Sara also took the time to give me tips on how to help my boy gain some lbs after being malnourished and underweight, which is totally above and beyond the scope of her duties! Sara, owner and groomer, at Ace Grooming by Sara, has the special touch and is such a sincere animal lover. I've been taking Sierra, my Himalayan cat, to Sara for years now. Anyone who knows Himalayans knows that their beautiful fur coats take a lot of upkeep. My girl doesn't particularly like to be groomed but when I bring her into Sara, she comes home smooth and matt free every time AND calm and in a good mood (that's a lot for an older cat with quite the thick fur coat). THE ABSOLUTE WORST SERVICE. If I could rate them 0, I gladly would. These people just charged me 40 bucks for a complete hack job (I have pictures to prove how awful it looks) on my German spitz. I usually pay 60 for a full service job well done. I have had my dog groomed dozens of times, at groomers back in MN as well as in Denver and have never once been told that they were unable to finish because he "moved around too much." What kind of professional groomer says that and then goes ahead and still charges you??? If you can't handle a 12 lb dog maybe you should look into a new career path. They also didn't bother calling to let me know of the issue until minutes prior to picking him up so it was too late to make other arrangements had I known they were so incapable. I will NEVER return to this business and would NEVER recommend Sara to ANYONE. If you do, you will most likely have to go elsewhere and pay for the service all over again because she obviously doesn't have any idea what she is doing. Such a joke. read more

Sara is a dog whisperer!! My wife took our timid mixed breed dog to be groomed, for the first time, and Sara did a magnificent job. We were very apprehensive because of a horrible experience that we had had with another dog and another groomer. As she left our dog my wife observed Sara very gently calm down some unruly dogs who were waiting their turn. Our dog looked fantastic when he came home. I was there and I still don't believe it. Bottom line- I wouldn't bring my dog back here if they paid me. These two older ladies that run this place are bitter, spiteful and just plain hateful. My husband dropped our Dog off and said she was terribly rude to him and the place was dirty and big dogs was stuffed in small cages. I immediately ran up there to get our dog. I recently took my dog here for a bath/cleaning. As some other reviewers have mentioned, this place is not fancy, but they have great rates and, as far as I could tell, did a good job. They had me drop my dog off and then pick him up in about three hours (time to dry), but I would have preferred to wait there and not have him sit in a kennel for a while. I have 2 big dogs, one who is not always so nice--and Sara handles him very well. He never minds going there either (which is a good sign!). Sara has been so wonderful to my mother's dog, as well as my own dog. I adopted a 2-year old dog who was previously a stray, and wanted to give her a good wash before taking her home. I was worried how a rescue dog would do getting groomed, but Sara knows how to handle ANY dog. We've taken our dog there several times, and we love how happy our dog is every time she's there. Anyone who says in their review that Sara is "cold" just doesn't take the time to talk with her, or maybe she's just too busy...every time I'm there, I feel so welcomed and assured by the knowledge that Sara has - plus, you can just see her compassion for animals. I would highly recommend Sara, especially for rescue dogs, plus, her rates are incredible. For a 50 pound dog, anywhere else would be upwards of $60, and Sara only charges $35. read more

I took my chihuahua terrier mix in a few days ago and will not be returning. Ever. He is probably one of the easier dogs to groom, his cut is just a shave. First of all it was a terrible environment. He was stressed as soon as we walked in the door. His hair is extremely uneven and not short enough. And to top it off they cut his pee pee. He has a sore on it and they didn't bother telling me!!! He is usually so excited when I pick him up and proud of himself but this time he was scared and couldn't get out of there fast enough. I am so disappointed. read more

As someone who works in rescue, Sara has been very insightful and informative in working with my timid/anxious rescue dogs. They don't typically require traditional grooming, just nail trims. Sara understands their behaviors and accordingly is able to get the trims done in a non-traumatizing manner. Some of the reviews say her personal manner is cold, but I don't see it, and even if I did I wouldn't care if she was so long as my doggers were handled well -- and they are.
