I brought my Shiba Inu here today for a bath and brush out. Sam did amazing! He typically sheds so bad, but there's not a single strand of fur falling off of him. I have boarded my dog with this location's pet hotel for years. Today, I called to make another reservation for her and was told that 'I should have been told last time she stayed that she is too old to board there'. I asked for an explanation and was told that their floors are a slick tile and my dog had a hard time navigating them, often slipping and sometimes falling. Okay fine, then why is that floor safe for other pets? What about the employees of PetSmart? Is it not unsafe for them to walk on slick, and sometimes wet, tile floors? I'm sorry, I'm not buying it. My dog, a yellow lab, is very mellow and not a problem at all. If the problem is with their floors, then every pet owner should be concerned and find other arrangements for their pets. read more

When I dropped my dog off for grooming they shaved him completely. He doesn't even look like a Maltese or a dog now. They made him look likes rat. Horrible HORRIBLE job! Don't ever get your pets groomed there please. read more

I have been taking my dog to Petsmart for grooming for years. First of all they charged me more today, said it took longer to do his hair. First of all his hair hasn't changed in 7 to 8 years!! Then the girl said that he had a spot on his back that it looks like he's been chewing. No, admit the fact that you nipped him When you were cutting him!! He wasn't limping when I took him in there this morning. When I left and took him home he is not limping and definitely not himself. I would not recommend this place at all!! I've seen complaints from people about their dogs getting kennel cough from grooming, and some from the hotel, and honestly, unless your dog is fully vaccinated, I would not bring my dog into this store, and even then, the bordetella vaccine is not 100% effective against Kennel Cough. I've worked for the PetsHotel, and also as a vet tech for Banfield (other locations) and I can tell you that the kennel cough people seem to pick up when they drop their dog off at grooming or the hotel...likely has to do directly with the pet adoptions that take place in the back of the store. Fort Worth Animal Control has partnered with PetsMart in the aspect that you can go to the back of the store and adopt a dog or cat that came from the shelter on Martin Street. Now, I'm not against adopting. I'm for it, and I think this is a great way for the dogs to get more exposure and a possible home, but the problem is that the shelter is not capable of providing adequate medical treatment for their charges, and they do not screen the dogs they adopt for infectious diseases or viruses. I actually adopted a dog there a few weeks ago, and have already been out 500 dollars in treating kennel cough and a bad respiratory infection because it spread to my other dogs in my house (my dogs are all vaccinated, btw, but like I said, bordetella isn't 100% effective). My friend got a cat from there that had ringworm, and they didn't bother to tell her that's what it was, or warn her when I knew right away from seeing the cat, that it had a problem. Now, let me state that I understand that the shelter works on limited funds, I get that, I really do, but the problem is they don't tell people these animals have these medical issues, or that "hey, we do have kennel cough going around back at the shelter, which is where these dogs come from, so you might want to quarantine". I've spoken to two vets, and called the shelter myself, and the problem is, there is an outbreak of kennel cough at the Martin Street Shelter. This is fact. Because these dogs aren't quarantined, and they're not there long enough to determine what other infectious viruses they might have picked up out on the street, nor is does the shelter have the manpower or willingness to clean their facility. Just because a dog is picked up and given the bordetella vaccine that day doesn't mean they're protected instantly, and it doesn't kill an emerging onslaught of kennel cough. A dog could have distemper, and the shelter wouldn't care to warn someone as they send it out the door. Again, I get that when you adopt from the animal control, you're basically taking this risk, but I also believe that when people are adopting a dog within petsmart, there's an assumed trust there given the storename, and you trust that the people you're adopting from would give you these warnings. They don't. They even encourage you to bring your own animal in from home to see if he/she will get along with the one you're possibly adopting. The reason I will not be using PetsMart grooming services, or their hotel, or even bring my dog into the store is because kennel cough, distemper, parvo, it's all very contagious, some deadly, and it's all just sitting back there in the back of the store, jumping from dog to dog. When people go and adopt, they're going to walk their new dog out in the store, pick out toys, food, ect, and that dog, a likely infected dog, is exposing that virus to other dogs in the store. If a dog got distemper out in the street, and came to the shelter, and THEN came to petsmart two days later (they move them in and out people. The dog I adopted was at the shelter two days before I got him) Just because they gave that dog a DAPP vaccine doesn't mean the distemper is gone. It's still there, and the dog is now a carrier for it. When you go back there and pet and handle the animals? You might be petting and handling one that has ringworm, and you don't even realize it because the people in charge of the animals don't warn you or take precaution. Kennel cough is airborne. It's highly contagious, and for older dogs, very dangerous. It's hard to get rid of. PetsMart has one ventilation system. Once kennel cough gets into the ventilation system, the dogs in grooming, the dogs in the hotel, the dogs out in the store, they're all at risk to it. I am all for adopting, but I feel that if PetsMart is going to sponsor dog adoptions in their store, a place that's supposed to be pet safe and friendly, they should take better care in prevention, meaning they should require a proper screening of animals, or perhaps invest their own money into screening those animals if the shelter can't do it. They should have a separate ventilation system for the animal control. I consider it abusive to knowingly let sick dogs and cats be adopted out to families that are unaware. I consider it abusive to allow healthy dogs in the store, dogs entrusted with PetsMart's care, be exposed to sick and contagious animals. read more

I just adopted a pom mix at the SPCA. First time I ever had to find & use a groomer. He is 22 pounds & was getting feces stuck, so a trin was definitely in order! I gave him a few baths at home. He is a happy, perfect puppy. (9mo). I scheduled a 7am appt to get a bath & groom. Spoke to thd girl who opened the shop & told her he needed a bath & sanitary trim. I showed her a picture of when I adopted him & told her 4-5 times.. Do not touch his head. But he did have matted fur behind his ears. Again, just deal with the matting, do NOT touch his head. He needs a light trim & most important was sanitary trim, if nothing else was done. I was told 3-4 hrs. I showed up 2 hrs later, cuz I was nervous & was told 1 more hr. I got thd call an hr later from the groomer. She loved him & if I was happy with her work Please! She would love to groom him again. He was a perfect, sweet puppy! OMG!! I picked him up to notice some skraggly fur around the leash. I told the guy & took my puppy home. He had never been away from me that long & didnt want to cause any more stress. When I got home, I saw the real damage that was done!! She shaved his head! The head I said NOT TO TOUCH!! She shaved his legs up to his thighs & made him boxy! His fromt legs were shaved up to his shoulders & she missed an entire section by his shoulders!! That is what I saw was skraggly! He was shaved in sections & none of the sections pn his back lined up!! She shaved his belly!! Bald!! She shaved the inside of his ears.. Bald!! His face was rounded & adorable tuffy in front of his ears & it was shaved off!! His cheeks were shaved into points!! Only way to describe it is.. Cat in the Hat!! Uhhh!! He a dog!!! I chose to cool the rest of the afternoon & speak to a manager in the morning. I kept thinking this place has a SERIOUS communication issue. The chick who took in my puppy & the groomer. I spoke to the Store manager because the groomer manager wasn't there. Only yhing that could be done was a refund. I was still fuming, but nothing I could do. I agreed to come in for a refund. As I stood in line I looked for the groomer. OMG!! That was the idiot who took my dog in!! The exact same female!! I can't tell you how much I had to restrain myself from opening that door & screaming at that idiot at the top of my lungs!! I wanted everyone to know that shes worthless as a groomer!! My turn at the register & after the manager moved me to another register, I could not hold in my frustration & showed the same photo as the groomer. Told him everything she screwed up on. How SHE was the exact same person to check in my puppy!! I spoke directly to HER!!!! She failed to follow my directions, she purposely did her own cut on my puppy! Please! Please! Please!! If you have a fluffy, adorable dog who can NOT be shaved!! Go elsewhere!! Pomeranians have an undercoat that should NEVER be shaved!! If you have specific instructions on how your baby is cut...GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!! Best part was when I asked the store manager who he would recommend.. It was her!! She has the most experience!!! I am very sad that this company does not take more pride in its products or the cleanliness of the store and safety of its pets. First I purchased three expensive cow bones and within three minutes of my dogs chewing they were already breaking off chipped pieces. I have had similar bones from Pet Co that lasted 6 years! Then I came in and purchased Iams dog food and when loading into my car realized that it was covered in maggots!!! I went back into the store and told the clerk and she said I could grab another so I walked all the way back to the back and found that the entire line was covered ! That is so gross and sad that no one in the store payed any attention to this and really did not care so I asked for a refund and left to purchase elsewhere!!!!! Sad!!!!! I will not be back !!!!! We got our Pomeranian from the Fort Worth Animal Controls rescue service partnered with this location. He had been severely neglected prior to us adopting him and was matted and his nails were so long it was impeding his walk. Before we left the store we asked if they would trim his nails and groom him to get rid of the worst of the matting and we were told they didn't have time but could do it the next day. I agreed but asked if they would go ahead with the nails today. I just couldn't let him walk in pain like that for another minute. So they trimmed them and we were charged the full price even though we had a grooming appt for the next day. I cancelled his appt, did his grooming myself and now a month later, yesterday, I took him up back up there for a grooming. I told the woman that I did NOT want his mane or winter coat trimmed, nothing was to be put around his neck because of a collapsible trachea, and was wanting just a bath and a nail trim. We dropped him off at eleven. At three o'clock they started his service. This entire time he had been in a cage with NO water, no bathroom breaks. When they finally groomed him, he was shaved and they trimmed his nails so short you can see the nerves! On top of that, they put a stupid bandana on him so tight I couldn't get a finger between it and his neck. The had it double knotted so it had to be cut off him. The whole time he was hacking and gagging. When we picked him up, we spoke to the grooming manager, who had been standing behind the woman we gave our requests to, and he was completely uncaring and disinterested. He refunded the money as though that was the real problem. Talking to these people is ridiculous. You get nothing but attitude. It's only about the money and not about the animals. I will not be going back to this or any other Petsmart location. I'll take my business to someone else. read more

I found a puppy 3 weeks ago. About 2 days after I got her, I went to PetsMart because her old owner used to take her to that vet! After I waited for 2 hours, I was finally helped. I asked for my puppy's previous vet history, which was given to me! The Vet recommended that I spade her and buy and insurance plan of $670. I said no. I took her to another vet and was told that my puppy was already spade!!! PetsMart's lack of knowledge and carelessness and ignorance is a CRIME! They need to hire people who could at least use a computer! People who care about animals and their jobs!!! Needless to say, do not take your dogs or cats to this PetsMart location! read more

Their so-called "Dog Trainers" have no idea what they are doing. I brought my dog to them hoping they can train him but what i saw was very disappointing. It seemed like the Trainer gave up on my dog too easily...FIY...it was a German Shepherd with aggression issues. If you tell someone that their dog is "trainable" and then you cancel the traing session early due to aggression then don't say such things. I went this morning (9/28) around 11:15am (opens at 11am) - it was closed but I saw a few women inside, one was getting frustrated with a dog, grabbed him by his skin and threw him in the cage. These poor animals are already having a difficult life - this woman is an employee......she's actually getting paid for this. I would do this job for FREE and be much kinder. Lake Worth, Texas. Terrible experience with the grooming Department. We have had an appointment scheduled for 3 weeks for today. The appointment time was for 830. At 815 as we are trying to leave the house the grooming department is calling us telling us we are late for the appointment. That it was at 8. The appointment was scheduled at 830 NOT 8. After taking our dog to the store. The lady in grooming (Ashley) only offered excuses as to why they would not see my Dog. They make it out to be like I am late for my appointment. The appointment is @ 830. They make 15 minutes worth of excuses as to why they can not see my animal today. That they have a busy day they will be behind. I don't make your schedule. I am on time for my appointment. It is ridiculous that you cancel my appointment when I am there on time, because you are going to have a busy day. read more

highly disappointed with the small animal enclosures. my boyfriend and i were looking for two new mice to add to our family and found two babies that were extremely skinny and their ear veins were very prominent and they looked very unhealthy and starved, one was even trying to scramble the bedding for old crust to eat. of course we had to take those two home because i couldn't find it in me to leave them. once we brought them home and gave them some food and water the veins were way less prominent and the poor guys spines were less visible. they also don't have any food bowls or water bottles in any of the tanks. it made my blood boil that they would treat their animals like this. read more

I've used the store any number of times for my dog. They do a good job on clipping her nails and I've even had her groomed there one time. I really don't have any complaints at all. Do NOT let the groomers "shave" your dogs pads!!! This is very important if you plan on walking the dog. I love that Petsmart has everything under one roof. And the employees are very friendly and helpful. But when it comes to grooming they need to make sure the customer fully understands all the services. And I wish the guy that was bathing my lab has used a little more common sense when it came to the part of trimming the pad hair and shaving the pads. These aren't show dogs... The pad hair and thickness is there for a reason, to protect the dogs feet! read more

I had my long haired miniature dachshund "so called groomed today" and they did not trim the fur from her pads or on top of her paws and they did not trim the sani-area. So basically, they gave her a bath but charged for all of these services. When I called to ask why, the lady said that's because most people don't want these areas trimmed???? What, I can't believe she thought I would fall for that excuse! Then she proceeded to blame their terrible groom job on the Hotel, saying the hotel did not communicate to the grooming department correctly! Buyer Beware!! By the way, the Hotel staff was amazing! A couple of weeks ago I called to inquire about doggy day care, and was told that all the dogs would be playing in one room for the duration of their stay. I called last week to make the reservation and they asked for breeds, shot records, DOBs, etc. for my two dogs, and told us that we were good to go. Upon arrival the day of the appointment, they informed us that they had them setup in two separate rooms for their stay. When I told them that that wasn't what we reserved, the woman at the desk told me that they could not in fact play with the other dogs because I have an American Pit Bull Terrier and "bully breeds are not allowed" to be around other dogs. They wouldn't even allow our two dogs to be in the same room together. I let them know that I would not have brought them to PetSmart had I known that this was their policy, but I had an event at my house in 30 minutes and didn't have time to take them somewhere different. They did waive the fee for one of the dogs since they didn't tell us about that policy, however I will NOT be bringing my dogs back. I'm disappointed that our dogs couldn't be together at the very least, and I'm disappointed that PetSmart isn't working towards breaking down the stereotypes associated with bully breeds. read more

I have taken my 10 year old Golden to Aaron for over a year after I had awful experiences with Pet Smart in the past at other locations. Aaron is an excellent groomer. My dog cannot have any soap on his skin regardless of the brand or ingredients in the soap, he will scratch and get hot spots all over his skin, he hasn't had a bath now for 3 years and is doing fine. All he needs is to be cleaned with warm water which I did prior to taking him to Aaron. Aaron was willing to work with me just doing a cut and nail trim, I never leave my dog in a kennel as he has anxiety Aaron left this store and now they are not willing to work with me, they state their policy is a bath and kennel until they can get to him therefore I will find a groomer that will come to my home to give my dog a summer cut. I asked Aaron if not having a bath with soap dulled the blades and he said no he was clean therefore it didn't matter however now they changed their policy. read more

My wife ordered an item online for in-store pick up. We received an email stating it was ready to pick up. Due to how busy our lives are, we hadn't gone and picked up the order yet. Rather than receiving a phone call as a courtesy reminding us we had an item for pickup, we got a call at 7pm from Darren saying that it had been 7 days and if we didn't come pick it up by closing time, they would cancel the order and put the item back on the shelf for sale. We rushed to pick the item up and then received an email later that evening saying that our order had been cancelled. What a joke! I managed a pet retail store for 16 years and would never treat my customers like that. Terrible customer service! How can a business be inconvenienced by a single small item waiting to be picked up and expect that customer to continue shopping with them? You lost our business Darren. read more

I will start off by saying we have been very patient, love the location but not the service. I will not be taking my dog there again for grooming. The 1st time he got kennel cough I brushed it off as a fluke and paid the vet bill. Now this is the 2nd time he has gotten kennel cough and another vet bill. There will not be a 3rd time! They overbook, your dog is rarely done on time, and the groomers have attitudes (I have seen them roll their eyes if you voice your opinion). Went in there to purchase a fish for my son's tank, he asked for a tiger barb. I asked for one and the "fish associate" said it was recommended for a 20 gal tank. I said I have a small tank but would like one. He said I'm not selling you one, it has to be a 20 gal tank. First, don't assume because I said small it's a goldfish bowl (it's a 15gal tank). Second don't tell me no, perhaps you should look up the definition of a recommendation. Finally don't to try to preach to me it's an ethical stand, when you had beta fish in the front that are crammed into itty bitty Tupperware type containers. Ironically you would have sold me a commet which will guarantee outgrow that barb. I approached mgmt about it & he told me I could have the barb...no thanks what I would like is you to train your employees in customer service skills. I will take my business to another other pet store. I would rank their customer service with that of Walmart....need I say more. read more

Susan cut our dog and he had to get 5 stitches. The staff was extremely unapologetic, but they reimbursed the haircut luckily (which is the least they could've done). He had a wear a cone for week, and it really tough on him. When we brought our dog back to finish the cut, nobody had a record of the situation, and we had to start from scratch; only to have a patchy and careless final cut by a different person. We've been going to petsmart for years at another location, but since moving we switched here. We're never going back. It was a horrible experience. read more

I recommend this PetSmart because their Pets Hotel is a great place for pets to go, they take very good care of the pets. My dog loves going to there, he feels loved and cared for. Apparently allowing $500-$700 in yearly sales is part of their 'business strategy' and 'company policy'. I tried to return an obviously defective head collar but since the purchase could not be verified in their computer, they would not exchange the item. Unfortunate since I have been purchasing all my dog food, treats, toys, etc there for the past 8 years plus boarding and grooming. The manager seemed content to let my business walk out the door. All my shopping will now be done online and I'm happy to find boarding and grooming elsewhere. read more

My husband and I just left PetSmart Alliance this morning after one of the worst customer service experiences we've ever had. After scheduling a 7am drop-off time in grooming for our yorkie, we stood in line for 20 minutes. No big deal. Once we got inside the grooming doors, a dog had peed (again, no big deal), but one of the employees made a comment saying, "see, this is why we need a mop". Really? A dog grooming salon with no mop? That's disgusting. We proceeded to walk up to the counter where we were "greeted" by a young lady with a long black ponytail, glasses, and very very long neon nails. She had no personality other than a rude, disassociated temperament with an annoyed affect. After my husband assured her that our pet had been to this location before, she proceeded to ask for demographics. Halfway in, I realized she was re-entering our pet into the system and not looking her up. Fine. We finished, and then she said, "Did you bring her shot records?" I told her "no, the person I spoke with on the phone said they would get them from Banfield here". The young lady proceeded to say that no, they don't do that before we show up with the pet, it's our responsibility and "sometimes y'all cancel, so we don't do all of that, you know?". I'm sure this was an overall comment regarding customers in general, but we have never canceled EVER, not that she would have seen that because she refused to look us up, and we are a minority couple, which caused us to pause further regarding her comment. As we walked out to Banfield to get the records, my normally patient husband said "I really don't want to leave her here". I vehemently agreed, we got a copy of our pet's records, and will be taking her elsewhere for grooming. PetSmart, you have cared for my Old English Sheepdog from cradle to grave, my min-pin from cradle to now at almost 8, and our yorkie who just turned 6. I have never had an experience like this, and am very saddened that the commercials with happy, smiley people who are "partners in pethood" are not the standard to which you uphold the groomers in Alliance. Love your store, love Banfield, love PetsHotel, but this experience was truly the worst. read more

This place is absolutely TERRIBLE and I will never take my animals to a Petsmart again. We took our puppy to the Petsmart Pet Hotel for 2 days and he ended up with the Kennel Cough. He has had his vaccination for it but with this being our first puppy we didn't really know what that was and to look to make sure the Pet Hotels we take him to require it. A mistake we will never make again. It is hard for me to understand how a company which is supposed to be based around your pets well being is really only concerned about the money going into their pockets!!! They DO NOT require this vaccination for pets to be boarded here so your pet it going to be AT RISK if you take them here. Even having the vaccination our puppy caught it and it is absolutely heartbreaking to see him have to go through that!! Not only that, they ended up keeping one of his toys which we sent with him and sending him home with someone else's food and water bowls!! Petsmart has lost all of my business now because their focus is NOT on your pet and taking good care of them. read more

This location doesn't deserve any stars. I relocated here from Baton Rouge last summer and PetSmart was my go-to place - NEVER had a problem in Baton Rouge. Moved a 36 gallon tank with 6 fish I had for years, including a 7" algae eater. I added a four tiny fish after one of my larger 5 year old fish died (no tank problems or any other sick fish for 2 months b/t fish dead and introducing new ones). Most of the new fish lasted less than a week - no big deal - sometimes fish don't acclimate well. Next thing I know, my whole tank is sick - bacterial and/or fungal infection that killed off my fish suddenly. The 7" algae eater was fine in the morning and dead by evening covered in infection. The more tetras and silver dollar fish started getting sicker and faster. I am treating my tank but I'm down to one silver dollar fish I only hope makes it! My family and I are so sad to have lost fish we had for years and moved in a live well from Louisiana to Texas. I never had to quarantine fish before, as PetSmart in Baton Rouge never sold me any fish that wasn't perfectly healthy. I certainly will start now and have no plans to ever return to Alliance Center PetSmart. Customer service was not impressive either - had to search for help to buy the fish in the first place. I wish I would've been in a crabby mood rather than patiently try to find someone to serve me just so I could give money to a store for sick fish that would destroy my tank.
