DO NOT go here!! I NEVER want to leave a small business a bad review, like ever , this is an exception - Long, but you need to know! I have been in the city of Hurst for 20yrs . We recently switched Groomers and was referred here . I have 2 well treated golden retrievers, whom we keep very well maintained. We recently had some shedding issues so we came to this place because our other place was getting harder to get into. The 1st time we came here we were greeted by an elderly fella, which is fine super nice , Nothing wrong with that. We made an appointment I bring the dogs in. They had not only my name, but my dogs names written on these cards incorrectly. We corrected him, but we had to repeat ourselves a dozen times. Our cards look like a scratch offs because they kept scratching off and spelling the name wrong continuously . I was a little concerned that's we were dealing with, but I figured maybe they were short staffed or whatever & Had somebody in the family helping out that day. We left our dogs, we picked them up that afternoon. What we had asked for was good.. We brought them a 2nd time, same scenario they Had my dogs names on somebody else's cards and somebody else's name on my dogs cards at that point I started to question stability , was making nervous Because they make you take your leash and collars off your dogs and take them with you so none of the dogs are marked with who they belong to. So I guess i was a glutton for punishment and decided to bring them back a 3rd time. My dogs have been shedding a lot more than usual . My daughter and I brought them in today 8/10 and explained to them that we wanted an extremely heavy de shedding bath and that we wanted a little bit heavier of a cut/trim this time but NOT shaved! My adult daughter & I both very explicitly explained what we wanted . Then proceeded to show us different levels of blades so that we could pick one, zero being the shortest up against the skin all the way to a 7, we chose 5 - When I arrived to pick them up this evening, my golden retrievers were completely & I mean completely shaved!!!!! , I even spoke to the groomer directly and made it very clear what I did and did not want this morning. When I came to pick them up, I was frustrated and in COMPLETE Shock!! I was explaining how upset I was and why is there haircut so short but the elderly lady cut me off while I was talking to the groomer called me HEY in reference And when I asked her, why did you cut me off and refer to me by HEY when you have my name ? she Slammed down the clipboard on the counter and began to shout at me as If I was in the wrong. Another thing that threw me off today was when we drop the dogs off this morning the very first thing the elderly man said to me was he wanted me to be aware of a negative Google review that had & proceeded to tell me even though it was kind of strange that he would share that with me I just listened to what he had to say ( assume he was just trying to have a friendly conversation why he brought that up as the beginning conversation I have no idea) I just proceeded to check my dogs In. Anyways, the groomer explained to me that I had told them that I wanted the #5, which I did but the Sample they had shown me was a much longer version of hair. She then proceeded to tell me that each hair is different and looks different but NOT ONCE did she tell me that when we discussed it earlier. The groomer that did our dog, her name is Joy. I'm assuming she works for the elderly couple and they're the ones that own it. You could tell she was trying to be sympathetic to my frustration, but it was very hard to move past my anger & disappointment. They only take cash & they refuse to refund me, so needless to say I grabbed my dogs and I left. I didn't even say goodbye. And I will NEVER be taking my dogs here again!! If you have golden retrievers, do not take them here because they do not know how to cut them!!! They didn't even shave them evenly. My dogs look like they are wearing tupae's - Pictures included - I have never been so upset!! They also cut one of my goldens three times on their neck and tried to say that it was already there and could've been from his collar when they had just been to the vet the day before and had a complete checkup and it was not there read more

I had an appointment for my dog to get a haircut today at 8:00 am, I called at 12:45pm to see if my dog was ready and they told me he wasn't and they would call me later to give me an update, they never called back so I decided to go and pick my dog up at 2:30pm and when I get there my dog wasn't even ready. You mean to tell me that my dog (medium size dog) that I brought there at 8 am wasn't ready after 6 hours?! That is totally ridiculous. read more

The groomer did but shave my senior dog as I had requested. Was told to bring her back the next day. Got there and the older gentleman told the staff I had to pay for another $50 grooming fee. I took my dog and left. He did not care that I would never return again with that dog or my other dogs. I had been a customer for icee 10 years. So sad this establishment has taken a turn for the worse. He was rude and disrespectful the moment he heard I needed the grooming to be do e as I had requested on the initial visit. read more

Always did great with our dogs. We have been using them longer than 30 years and never had a problem. They have groomed many of our dogs from Pomeranians to Newfoundland and several sizes in between. read more

Been using this groomer for over 35 years. They have groomed schnauzers, Pugs, a Boston Terrier, Collie, and a Dorkie for me. When issues arise, as they will sometimes, they are quick to call me to discuss. The 15 year old Dorkie is now deaf and blind and I wouldn't trust her to anyone else. read more

We have been using the Paw Spa for all our pets grooming needs for over 36 years. We have taken our dogs (and cats when we had them) to Marsha and her groomers exclusively. We have NEVER in all these years had a negative experience of any sort. Marsha and her groomers are like a member of the family to us and our pets. They have walked with us through the good times, the challenging times and the times of grief. Marsha has always gone above and beyond to help and assist us in any way, she has hugged and even cried with us. Marsha is ALWAYS a ready source of advice and guidance regarding issues with our dogs, and never have her thoughts or information been ill-advised. She is very knowledgeable!! She has done more for us and our pets in 36 years that I can possibly list here, and I know some of those things no other groomer would have done!! I personally love these women bc they make it easy to love them. They love and treat all our pets with gentleness and love and respect. ALWAYS. I hate that some have had negative experiences at the Paw Spa...bc I have never seen nor experienced any such behavior as some other reviewers have described. I find it sad that that was their experience, because I know a very different side to these women and thus business. Marsha is a no nonsense person, balanced with a genuine love for animals...and I personally like that!! Especially when discussing concerns or issues with my pets! She is a straight shooter, but has NEVER EVER been rude or unkind in any way, to us, our pets or anyone I have personally referred to the Paw Spa. Nor have I ever seen her behave rudely to another customer or to a coworker. I am not saying it couldn't happen (we are all capable, I guess, of having those bad days!)...I just have NEVER seen it! I can honestly give my highest recommendation to Marsha and all of her groomers. I almost never do reviews of any kind, but when I saw these terrible reviews this morning, I just had to speak up for these people I love and appreciate! I hope this is helpful. read more

Worst cut my dog has ever gotten. He looks awful. All choppy, bunch of long hairs left, you can see some clipper marks.

My dog Maynard was handled inappropriately at this groomer and was injured as a result. The owner of Paw Spa was unnecessarily defensive, gaslighty, and belligerent towards me- making threats, cussing me out, and chasing me and my friend out of her shop. If she behaves in this way towards a human (one who is only concerned with how their animal was treated in her establishment) I have serious concerns for the animals people place in her care. He sustained injuries to his shoulder and his neck. There's a great deal of inflammation and because of his age he is taking longer to heal. He still yelps when you pick him up. The day after his initial grooming appointment, I called the salon to ask some more questions and figure out what was happening with him. I asked who worked on him- the very first thing she started telling me was how much he struggled and how he really doesn't like being groomed. The impression this left is that they already knew something might be wrong with him. They confirmed that they don't use leads or harnesses on the animals they groom, so the marks on him were from someone's handling of him. They told me that the owner would very likely want to speak with me about the incident, which was fine at the time.. I was going to have a vet bill and they were responsible for it. At this point I was still upset but hopeful I was being heard I was called by the owner. Dismissive and defensive lady. She said Maynard was wiggly, that he didn't like being groomed. She said that she asked his groomer to stop working on him and call us to get him and that the groomer convinced her to continue. She said that she would never hire someone who would intentionally harm an animal. I told her I didn't think it was intentional, however, harm was caused and there was a reason to be upset. Friday morning I resumed my conversation with the owner of the Paw Spa. She was insistent on speaking with my vet. When I told her the bill amount and let her know that her behavior came across as suspicious and deflective, she finally agreed to pay the cost of the visit. I took Maynard and my friend Nox with me to pick up the cash and show her his injuries in person. Maybe then she would take it seriously. I set him on the counter and she reached for him immediately. I noticed the change in his body language and asked her to stop. She said "I have not touched this animal I don't know why you have an issue with me handling him." I tried to explain that he was injured in this building and he was flinching away from her- the dog had been through enough. She reached for him again and wrapped her hands around his neck and shoulders, saying "Oh this isn't bruising. ." I could see Maynard's eyes widening, he was panicked and uncomfortable, and I physically pulled him away from her.. She interrupted every attempt I made to explain my intentions or show her how he was behaving or walking. She was more concerned with someone accusing her of hiring an abusive groomer than she was with listening to my concerns over the situation as a customer and pet owner.. . . Which was my only intention given that my other dog was doing well there. When I said "I think we're done here, just pay me for the vet visit and I won't be back" she responded with "I think that's best." and the "I wish you would try something, you ain't gonna do anything" and at this point I was very clear with Marcia (the owner) that no threats were being made, at which point she talked over me again saying "you better not try shit" and I took the envelope with the money for the vet bill and moved towards the door, dog underneath my arm. Marcia started coming around the counter at this point. Telling us to "get our asses on out" and to "fuck off" out of her shop. Nox positioned herself between me and Marcia, because she felt that she was going to come after me on our way out. Had it just been me, I fully believe she would have come after me to get physical. If I could give less than one star I would. I took my 10 month old puppy here because his regular groomer was closed for the holidays. These people stripped all of his hair off and left several cuts, welps, and red marks all over his body. They even cut off his eyelashes. My puppy had severe bumps on his personal parts and they looked raw for over a week. He was so irritated that it made it painful for him to go to the bathroom. Unprofessional owner running a bad business. I have never experienced such a unprofessional, rude, defensive or insulting human in my life. The night before my family and I were headed to the lake for the night I called Paw Spa's asking if I could bring my dog in the morning to board him overnight. I understood that I didn't have a reservation but the lady asked for me to call back in the morning before I came in as it didn't seem like it would be an issue. I called an hour before I came in and again the lady expressed that it wouldn't be an issue. I brought him in around 8:30AM and the lady came around the counter and walked him to the back. I asked several times if I needed to sign anything or fill out any paperwork and she stated that I could do it when I picked him up the following day. Since we have used their services in the past I thought this was not unusual and left assuming he would be in good hands. I later got a call from Janice (the owner) that afternoon accusing me of "dropping off" my dog and instead of correcting her employee for not following her policy she took the time to interrupt my time with my family to make false accusations while being very rude and insulting. I couldn't enjoy the remaining time we had away due to being concerned about what kind of environment my dog was in. After getting back into town we came straight to Paw Spa's to pick him up. In efforts to give Janice the courtesy of expressing how she handled the situations I requested to speak to her. After waiting for some time she finally came out and I formally introduced myself and told her that I thought how she handled the conversation the previous day was very unprofessional, rude and insulting. She quickly interrupted me and stated I was "that kind of person to take advantage of a situation" when I was just giving her feedback as one of her guests. She took my feedback as a personal attack instead of listening to me reevaluating that possibly her lack of leadership and training has caused this situation to occur. I oversee multiple hotels and I can assure you that none of my associates would ever treat a guest with such disrespect. While there are many other alternative places with better accommodations and customer service within the area, I personally would not recommend anyone to give this lady business. She runs a poor business with untrained staff. Who knows how they treat your pets behind closed doors. STAY AWAY! read more

They did a horrible job on my Chow. They told me that she needs to be sedated when she comes in. I called my Vet, knowing my dog, disagreed completely. They personally took her after the horrible job that The Paw Spa did, and finished the grooming with no sedation and watched her several hours. My chow was perfect. We've been taking pets here for some time now. Always they are loved and baby talked by the staff. They come home pretty, clean, and happy.

We have taken our dog to the Paw Spa since he was a puppy and wouldn't go anywhere else. We have to spell out their name around our dog as he gets excited just hearing us talk about the Paw Spa! They take excellent care of our little mini schnauzer. We use Marcia and staff for grooming and boarding. Love, love, love this place! read more

I will not go into specifics about this place BUT. The owner is somewhat rude and not very professional. These people also DO NOT know how to cut hair and last it is very,very expensive..by the way my dog is very friendly and love people but for some reason he seemed really eager to get out of there when I picked him up,and ofcourse he was happy to see me but he has never been that way when picking him up from his normal groomer. I will groom my dog myself before taking him there again!! Please BEWARE something is not right with that place! read more

I have taken all my dogs and even my rescue dogs here. The staff I have dealt with are very caring. Some of the rescue dogs I have taken here have been in horrible shape and the staff take their time to make the pet feel loved and the dogs come out presentable and feeling soo much better I refer many people to them. read more
