I never thought I'd pick up my dog from boarding and find him underfed and bleeding, but that's exactly what happened at Petsmart. I boarded him over Thanksgiving weekend, and while the ladies working there were very sweet, there was a huge miscommunication on their part. I left his food with a clearly labeled 1/3 cup scoop, and he eats 1.5 cups per day, yet they assumed the 1/3 scoop was a full cup and severely underfed him. He clawed at the metal gate so much that his paws started bleeding, and no one told me until I called them myself and even then, they barely answered the phone. I had to call multiple times just to reach someone. Since they don't let owners see the boarding area, I had no idea he was in a setup that stressed him out, and I wish someone had recommended upgrading him to a suite with a glass door. When I picked him up, he was noticeably skinnier, had dried blood on his paws and even had poop on his back paws. I feel incredibly guilty, like he thought I abandoned him and let him starve, and I will not be boarding him here again. read more

We have used PetSmart for training, boarding, grooming, and buy all of our pet food here. We just finished boarding our two dogs. When checking out, I was charged for late pick up (after 12). I pointed out that they had grooming at 1:30 and was told when I booked that there would not be a late fee because of the grooming time.. I was able to get the 'late fee' removed after speaking with the department supervisor. Still thinking my bill was pretty high, I called the store later to ask about the charges. We picked our dogs up on July 5 at 3:15. . Their grooming was on July 5. But since it's on a holiday weekend, they upharged each dog $6 for bathing. They are short haired boxers. So it wasn't like a long blowout process. And the bathing was not done on July 4. I have hesitated to board the dogs here purely because they will not go to the bathroom inside, even with them spraying pheromones, unless they are ready to bust with being inside. And, again, afterwards at home there are bathroom issues of peeing inside when they never do normally. . The staff is all awesome. We've had a great trainer. And even though I may be looking for somewhere else to board due to them not being able to go outside to go to the bathroom, what I am really irritated about is up charging six dollars per dog for simple bathing on a day that is not the holiday and staff would normally be working. A $47 bath is ridiculous. It was not disclosed that there would be an up charge for bathing due to "holiday weekend" when I booked it. And again, it was not on the holiday. Somehow I don't feel as loyal anymore to buy my $75 bags of dog food here. And will look around for optional boarding facilities. And, yes, this is mostly because of the $12 holiday up-charge. read more

I was about to bring my 4 dogs for daycare ( 3 hounds and 1 mixed breed puppy), until I found out they discriminate against pitbulls or any mixes that could have pitty. They said my puppy could not participate in group play since his paperwork from the shelter says terrier mix. Nice, large, typical location. We needed several things; our pet foods weren't on sale, so we'll check elsewhere, but they have a good selection and generally reasonable prices. The puppy pads were on sale, and they often are, so we get them here instead of Petco. There are also lots of toys, cat towers, stuff for smaller animals, etc. It's fun to check out the birds and guineas pigs, and see what cats are there for adoption, and if you're lucky you'll see a pack of dogs playing in the back. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Something didn't ring up right, and they quickly helped fix it. Parking is good, access is easy, and if I lived nearby I'm sure we'd be back often. read more

I have been taking my toy fox terrier to the PetSmart on Feedwire Road, Centerville, OH, for over 10 years. However, the last time (April) I took my dog into for a nail clipping, there was a new(er) person delivering the service. I typically will wait for them to complete the job and observe how they handle my little one by looking through the glass. I was shocked at how she pulled on him, and aggressively grabbed his paw. My little one "yelped"; which he has NEVER done before at this location. I watched to give the person a "chance" to improve the manner in which she was acting. She DID NOT!!! My dog yelped again as she grabbed his front pay. I immediately went in an said, "that's enough, give me my dog!" She tried to say that he snapped at her and that she wasn't able to finish the service. I didn't care! I told her, I watched everything and he did not snap at you, he has never done that with ANYONE! There was a co-worker who said, "he has done that to me before". I almost lost my mind. I tole her that she has never clipped his nails before. I am 100% positive. I pay attention to who handles my dog. so that pushed he mover the edge, I just wanted to get my little one and get him out of there. I always give grace because I don't know what that person is going through at that time; but to aggressively handle a toy fox terrier and then say that he had done that before was just ludicrus. I held my tongue and left the building (after paying for the full service, which he did not get). read more

Service was less than desirable. I was told there is a policy if the groomer does not establish a good relationship with the dog he can nolonger be seen at any petsmart. The policy was supposed to be implemented within the last 30 days. this does not sound believable. read more

I took my 6 month old puppy for his first day at doggie daycare today. The worker who checked us in chased him around to try and get a lead on him. He was still on my leash at the time. ok, no big deal I figured it will get better after I leave. I come to pick up at the end of the day and am told he never got put in daycare because he was too nervous and then started snapping at people so they just left him locked up all day. No call to tell me what happened so I could have come and picked him up or tried to address the situation to have a better outcome. They then want me to get him out of his room because he is snapping and he's not safe. When I walk in his room he is growling, snapping, shaking and cowering in the corner until he recognizes me. I don't know what happened to him while he was there but he is now terrified of the place. He had a horrible experience with people at daycare and there is no opportunity to change it so that he can leave on a positive note. If they cannot handle a 6 month old puppy with no history of aggression I would not recommend taking any dog there. read more

I have had nothing but good experiences here! Truly my one-stop shot for services, including training, boarding, grooming, and vet care. My Aussie Cleo went through training with Mary who was so incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. Cleo goes to puppy daycamp 2 days a week and adores all the staff. She's comes home happy and ready for a long nap after playing all day. She's done great in their PetsHotel as well. And the grooming salon is wonderful. Cleo has been going to Amanda for baths, trims, and nail grinding for almost a year. She is wonderful and takes great care of my pup! Vet care is also nice. Easy to get appointments and Cleo's spay went so easy. I'm a first time pet owner and it's wonderful to have everything I need in one place! read more

My husband and I have been taking our four-year-old Keeshond to PetSmart for a couple years now. We used to live in Centerville and the Pets Hotel here was our go-to "kennel" whenever we were going out of town for vacations, weddings, etc. All of the employees know our dog by name, and since moving to DC about 6 months ago, they still remember her as we discovered over the weekend when we were back in Ohio visiting family. Our dog gets SO excited when we pull into the PetSmart parking lot. The employees at this location are fantastic. I am speaking about the Pets Hotel primarily. They care so much about the dogs, and they treat them like gold. It's always a big relief and a very good feeling to know your dog is in good hands when you aren't with them. Instead of feeling guilty when we would go on trips, we knew our dog would be excited to stay overnight at the hotel. We have used the groomers here twice as well, and we were very happy with our second, most recent experience. The first one, not so much. Our dog has very long fur and requires special care when groomed, and our first grooming experience was not up to par. Thankfully, the second time, they did a wonderful job - maybe we were more clear in explaining what we wanted. At any rate, we know our dog is in good hands here, and that's a wonderful feeling. read more

Just brought my pups home from a week long stay at Petsmart on Feedwire Rd. Near Dayton, OH. We have patronized Petsmart kennels for years but we won't be back. My Lhasa Apso mix had dried feces in his fur and overall smelled terrible as did my chihuahua mix. I don't understand how they can pay attention to my pups and allow this to happen. read more

Took my dog to get groomed today, when talking with the groomers they said it was explained to me that a veterinarian had to trim my dogs nails even though this was my first time ever being told this. The 60 year old woman who is obviously doing well in life saying shes a groomer at petsmart seemed like she was trying to do as little as possible and very lazy. My advice, go somewhere with better customer service. read more

We took our one year old terrier/chihuahua mix to the Feedwire Road PetSmart grooming salon this afternoon for the Bath and Brush with furminator service for the first time. $46.00 is a little bit too much but it was a treat for my birthday from my husband. We were very disappointed after picking him up. At home we realized he didn't have his paws hair trimmed and the furminator process was a joke. I combed him myself and removed a lot of hair. All I could verify getting was a bath and his nails clipped. I have to assume his ears were flushed, etc. and, he didn't get the bandana the website talks about. I have been going to this Petsmart since 2008. The grooming staff has given the very best care to my yorkie and now to my Pomeranian sprinkles. I don't live in the area anymore but travel 45 minuets just to have them groom her because they do an excellent job. They are always attentive to my instructions on how I want sprinkles groomed. I am not the type of person who complains. I have never called and demanded to speak to the manager of a store (considering it now, though!). I don't expect the royal treatment when I'm buying dog food. That being said, I am sick and tired of the blonde female clerk sneering at me every time I make a purchase. I am scoffed at everytime I check out; purposely look for any other employee in the event I have to actually ask a question (the one time I was forced to interrupt her glaring into space, she promptly called someone from the back to deal with me), all because my mere presence seems to be a slight to her otherwise engaging activities of thumbing her nails and glaring off into the distance. Ironically, my first encounter with this clerk and store had an older woman grabbing my arm when I entered; screaming about how disrespectful and rude the blonde clerk was being to her. I told the woman I'd never been here before (and couldn't really attest to the situation) and even gave the clerk a pep-talk when I later checked out (because anyone who has worked in customer service understands that there are customers who are not easy/ cannot be pleased regardless of what you try). Repeated encounters with this clerk have me now readily believing this other customer's experience! Everyone has off days: I am not criticizing this person for one day. I am reporting that every encounter with this clerk has left me pondering if I had done something wrong; if I had offended her simply by laying my bag of dog food down, expecting her to scan the barcode, and proceeding to swipe my card. That is all! Yet I'm glared at, have eyes rolled at me when I speak, told my bag of dog food was 'right there' as she waved me off (I'd asked if my card was read or not...?), and deep sighs as I struggle to lift my bag of dog food and leave (not as quickly as she would like, apparently). I've witnessed similar contempt for other customers. While I don't expect constant smiles, witty banter, and to be treated like a superstar just for buying dog food, I don't think it's too much to ask to be treated like a customer; or like I'm a living-breathing human just picking up the necessities of a pet owner. I've had a long day too, clerk. I'm here just because my dog needs dinner; not to annoy you. Other customers are also here just to make their purchases and go home to their pets. If this location wasn't the most convenient for my needs (and gave me more time to play with my dog after work and to live my life), I would go elsewhere. If the only place that sells the brand I need wasn't Petsmart, I would have long gone elsewhere with my business! I know for a fact this clerk has been reported, complained about by multiple customers, but there she is: still being rude and unpleasant to everyone. Obviously, I don't expect much. But to other customers left flabbergasted over her behavior, left pondering if you had burned her village or something in another life to be so instantly disliked by a stranger: know it is not you. read more

I love this Petsmart for a lot of reasons. Friendly staff, great stock..etc. However, I've been very pleased by the grooming service. I brought my dog in not long ago and I couldn't have been happier with the quality of his care. He was very clean cut and happy. The groomer, Shannon, was very receptive and she did an amazing job. I recently decided to use the PetsHotel service because I was in a jam and had to leave town. My dogs usual Rover sitter was unavailable and one of my dogs had surgery a week prior. The surgery was minor and he only had to wear a cone to keep him from licking. No meds, no special treatment. I booked the reservation, mentioned my dogs surgery and his cone in the reservation and got a confirmation. When I brought my dogs in the day I had to leave, they advised me they could not take dogs with stitches. Come to find out their reservation headquarters are in Arizona and apparently no one pays attention when you put in the notes about your dog HAVING STITCHES. They refused to take him, I obliged even though they put me in a real bind. But I understood it wasn't the stores fault. The manager at the time even gave the girl working the counter a couple places to try to call and make other arrangements. I told her not to worry about it as I thankfully found someone last minute that said they would watch him. I boarded my other dog and went on my way. When I picked up my dog and paid, the manager I dealt with refused to do anything to make the situation right. I paid full price for my dogs stay on top of paying even more for SOMEONE ELSE to watch my other dog, and Petsmart took no responsibility in the situation they put me in. I didn't want my dog to stay for free, I just wanted something for them to acknowledge they messed up by not contacting me prior to bringing in my dogs. Anything would have been better than nothing but per the actual manager (different one then when I dropped off my dog) there was "nothing she could do." Not sure how a company stays in business with such poor customer service. Also I would have given a 1 star if it wasn't for the actions of the initial manager I dealt with. I wish he was there when I picked up my other dog. I'll be going to Petco for everything from now on. read more

I wish I didn't have to review the entire store for one incident. My issue really is with the clinic -- not the retail portion of the store. The retail portion has been great during my two visits. So, I went in to get my newly adopted puppy some food, a collar, a leash, some toys and treats. The previous day she had some surgery done by the rescue's vet where she was left with stitches. The area around her stitches were looking pretty red. I wasn't sure if she needed to be seen or not. I took her back to the clinic's desk to ask the lady if she thought she needed to be seen. The front-desk lady's reaction was basically (not literally) "Those wounds are really bad. They're bleeding. She needs to see a vet immediately." -- so, of course, I let her schedule me an "appointment" with the Vet. I was very hesitant because the puppy had just been to the vet the previous day and this was going to be a $40 charge. After a short wait, we brought the puppy into a room. The vet saw her for about 1-2 minutes, said her wounds were perfectly fine, she should probably wear a cone so she doesn't lick at them, go easy for a while, and take some medication for the swelling/redness. Afterwards, I felt like I just got screwed. I completely understand that I did technically agree (even signed) to pay for this "visit" with the vet. However, I just spent $40 for one person in the back (vet) to spend 2 minutes to tell me the dog is completely fine after the lady in the front (receptionist) convinced me I needed to see the person in the back (vet). To top things off, I brought this issue up with the lady who convinced me to see the Vet. She just said "Well, I'm not a vet". How convenient. Why didn't she say that in the beginning when I asked her if she thinks my dog needs medical attention? I may be a little irrational here. I just feel like I could have been treated better and maybe they could have modified the bill a bit. After all, I ended up paying them the additional $40 for the cone and medicine that still doesn't stop her from licking her wounds. read more

I would definitely recommend using PetSmart for any of your pets needs. I do not recommend the hospital or their grooming are the rudest people around I will be getting in touch with their manager and hopefully something will be taken care of very rude very rude. People like that should not be around animals if they can't be nice to humans I wonder what they are the animal. Have been several times- they don't keep things restocked. I have asked about when products will be filled and the staff just appear to make up an answer- as in "I think we are getting a shipment in later this week." When exactly? "Wed or Thurs"- returned on Saturday- still no product. Thanks for time waste Petsmart. Would talk to manager but last time I did that it turned into a 30 min extravaganza of pushing register buttons but not accomplishing the refund at hand (this was after I had asked the lady checking me out about the price and she did not check and just lied.) Overall- not impressed. Jack's, Petco or Amazon for me. Oh yeah- one last thing- when I took my dog to get groomed- a young lady told me my dog breed was not my dog breed. As in "that's not a havanese." I didn't realize I had to bring my papers with me to prove it but I would have if I had actually scheduled. Other groomers for me, thanks. read more

I took my four month old Toy Poodle to be groomed on Monday. When I picked him up he looked awesome, until I got home and he was acting as if he was hurt and it hurt to walk or sit. So I checked him out and noticed he was scalped on his privates and little paws. Tuesday he couldn't sit still walk or lay down. Today Wednesday he went to be neutered and was in extreme pain. Not from surgery but from them grooming him and hurting him extremely bad. The doctor suggested antibiotics, antibiotic cream and a powder to help with his poor bleeding areas! I reached out to the grooming manager and she wasn't in so my husband called the store manager. They paid for the antibiotics with extreme hesitation and acted like it was my fault and told me that's what happens when a dog was matted. My 4 month old puppy wasn't matted and actually had little to no hair on his privates or paws. I'm extremely angry and heart broken for my puppy. DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS HERE!!!!! read more
