Just WOW! Not in a good way. Made an appointment, showed up on time, there was a line of dogs checking in so we wondered the store for a few minutes. 15 minutes later, the line was clear, so we went to check in. The attendants at the grooming area clearly did not want to clean another dog as they turned us away, saying we were past the 15 minute alotted time for checking in. They further said, they didn't have time today to clean our dog so we could make another appointment another time. So, because they were behind checking in dogs and we were "nice" and didn't crowd into the small waiting area; we were turned away and dismissed. If you make an appointment, it should be honored and the customer shouldn't get attitude about being polite to others and giving them space to work! We will NOT BE BACK. Another customer lost to rudeness and inefficiency. read more

We have taken our puppy here a few times for baths because he does not like them at all and can be a bit much doing it ourselves. Figured taking him to a groomer would be good since they are trained. We have no issues with the groomers at all. They're always nice and give a report about how he did during the service. The employees in the store are always very nice and helpful. We have also been taking him to the pet hotel and daycare a few times since they reopened. His first time there they offered a free ice cream treat for him. That was nice. They have options for him to get serviced at the salon also while he is there. We have taken advantage of that and they waive the extended fee if you get a salon service (is what I was told). I think they are still getting use to everything opening back up. Every time it's different. Sometimes he has a bandana on that they provide, sometimes they give a physical progress report, sometimes they don't, etc. also when you call to book an appointment you are connected to a customer service department and not the location you are booking. Over the phone they don't really seem to know the exact pricing or policy of the locations. I would suggest calling the location and getting clarification on any questions you have to make sure you have the correct information. Especially if they offer to waive some fee. The location may not honor that waiver. It's not a big deal but just interesting that they don't always do the same thing every time he is there or told different things over the phone. But overall we have a very positive experience. The only thing I would say negatively about our last visit, is that he came back smelling like urine. That was a little annoying. I think if the pet smells and didn't smell before arriving they should offer a bath or a discount on a bath or something. But all in all we will still continue to take our puppy here when needed. read more

Please don't buy reptiles from Petsmart. I was just there and their ball python enclosure was about 100° (by their gauge). The corn snake enclosure was over 90°. I spoke to a few employees who looked at me blankly. They probably don't know much about reptiles, which I understand. I then called the manager after leaving and expressed my concern that several enclosures are way too hot. The manager gave me a huge attitude, saying that they have expertise in reptiles and that I "don't know anything about it." I told him to just Google appropriate ambient temps for ball pythons and corn snakes. He just continued to say that they are experts and gave me a huge attitude. The enclosures are small (which they have to be because it's a store), but this means that the animal has no place to cool down. It's ANIMAL CRUELTY to keep an animal that can't regulate its own temp in an enclosure that's way too hot. I have spent a huge amount of money at Petsmart. We get our dogs groomed there and buy expensive brand dog food, dog toys, clothes, and also some reptile supplies. If the manager had said that he would check on it and showed concern, that would have been the right response. But he doubled down, saying that they know and I don't. I'm a moderator in multiple advanced reptile groups. I was just genuinely concerned for these animals and Petsmart chose to ignore me and even be disresptful to me. I was able to find a cute cat bed and cat bowl. But disappointed a little with the lack of inventory. They had some nice holiday items. They only gave him a trim but still charged us full haircut price. It was a bath and sanitary trim at best, as shown on their website advertised as $36. If I could give none I would. I took my fluffy yorkie to Jessica - apparently the best groomer out of the group of groomers. Big mistake!! It started in December, I made a hair cut appt and they kept rescheduling me the day of to let me know that groomer wasn't going to be in . After the 5th cancellation I asked, is Jessica sick is something wrong? And then they proceeded to tell me how her child gave Jessica Covid and that's why she's not in. This was after 5th cancellation. Getting Covid isn't fun so I understand she needs to take time off but not sure why the staff was still trying to schedule knowing this woman had Covid. So after 4 long weeks in jan I bring my pup in. I told her please don't cut a lot of hair since it is winter. Mind u my pup was matted but not enough to cut all his hair off. He went from being a poofy yorkie to looking like a chiwawa. She didn't even try to cut, she just shaved him and called me after telling me she took everything off. Mind you it's really cold in California and I said I don't want him to be cold after she handed him to me she said he's a dog! Sure he's a dog to anyone but to me he's my little baby. Super rude I typically go to Nancy from dirty dawgs. Idk why I ever thought I should go to this place. Go to Nancy let her know I sent you. She is waaaaaaay better than this place . I adopted my Lola a few months ago. She is a bit rambunctious and still learning to trust people, and she's improving. I brought her here as this is the closest pet store with a grooming service. The first groomer (Kimberly) had a hard time with her and didn't finish the job; I had to come back the following week so her supervisor could finish the job. I brought Lola in again just for a bath and brush by Kaylee. I thought part of the package was a sanitary trim, but I didn't see it. Kaylee had a positive attitude, so I figured the next time I bring Lola back, I will select her specifically. Well...today, August 3, 2021 will be the last time I come here. THE SERVICE WAS HORRIBLE! First, I got the call that Lola was done about 4:30pm. Traffic was horrible, and it took me longer to get there. When I arrived, NO ONE was in the grooming center. I stood there for about 5 minutes walking about making enough light noise to get attention. NOPE. NOTHING. So I go to the cashier and let the young lady behind the counter know that no one was there. She gets the attention of her co-worker (a gentleman with long hair) and he said nope, find someone else to help out. Wow! I go back to the grooming salon and wait a little longer. Fed up, I reached behind the counter and grabbed the work order (there were 2). I go back to the cashier. Mind you NO CUSTOMER was at the cashier. I said to her, "no one was there. I just grabbed the receipt so I can pay." She replies, "well you can't get your dog until you pay." "That's what I'm here to do." She points to this customer and she says, "well they're next". Okay, no one was in line. These people were 25 feet away from the counter. And they had a lot of items. Another store associate brought my dog out and told me that she was surprised that no one was there. She was very nice about it and allowed me to take my dog even though I had not yet paid. She's that one star in this review; otherwise it'd be no stars. I finally get to the cashier and I let her know that it would've been helpful to let me pay my one item instead of taking the customer WHO WAS NOT IN LINE who had a bunch of items. By the way, Kaylee didn't do a good job this time around. Lola's paws and tail still had dirt. There was still no sanitary trim (and the package DOES indicate it), and Lola was still damp. I am beyond peeved. I knew that considering PetSmart is in an undesirable location, the service could be reflective of that, but I didn't want to generalize and gave them a chance. They're much worse. 1. No help whatsoever in the grooming salon 2. You abandon your post leaving the dogs unsupervised. 3. Your break is more important than customer service. That's just my assumption. He just said "find someone else to help". 4. Instead of dealing with the customer in front of you, you think it's best to just brush them aside in favor of a large order standing 25 feet away. I do hope the manager sees this. Feel free to follow up so I can air more of my grievances, but until then, I'm avoiding this place completely; I won't even come here for supplies. read more

I've been a loyal customer at PetSmart for six years. Although I tend to mostly go to the Walnut Creek location, I was in a crunch for time and ended up booking at the Concord location again (which is always disappointing). They've cut my dog before multiple times and made him bleed after his haircut, but this recent experience was nothing short of appalling. It seems the company's ethics have taken a nosedive, and it doesn't feel trustworthy. I went in to check in for my dogs grooming appointment, and Ruby H. At this concord location was insistent on changing my dog's breed type, claiming he isn't a Maltese. I told her that he is a Maltese/Shih Tzu mix and that there wasn't an option for that so she can choose to put him down as a shih tzu or Maltese (I haven't faced a problem like this in the 6 and a half years I've been going). He's also only 13lbs. She kept pushing the fact that he's not a Maltese shih tzu and wanted to change his breed type to something completely different then said that once she changed his breed that it would cost more. Which made no sense. After refusing to go along with the proposed change, this groomers attitude was incredibly rude and unprofessional. Instead of listening to my concerns as a loyal customer, she coldly suggested to "take my dog and leave if I don't want her services". Disappointment is really not even the word to describe this situation, it was awful. I cannot recommend anyone bring their pets here. I've always faced issues at this location only, but this was just too much. read more

BEWARE taking your sweet dog to the groomers here. The groomers are not good at handling dogs. They will physically drag your dog by the collar and choke your dog trying to get them to follow their direction. These people are supposedly "trained" in handling pets but I've seen untrained dog lovers handle dogs way more gentler than these groomers. Our pets can't talk so it's up to us to advocate for them and bring them to safe places. The groomers here is not a safe place. Please take your pet elsewhere. read more

I mainly come to this PetSmart for grooming, specifically nail trimming, but I have also purchased toys and treats here for my fur baby. Staff members are nice and welcoming. I usually walk-in without an appointment and staff in the grooming department have been consistently accommodating. However, the quality of the nail grooming isn't consistent. Some times the nails are nice and short, other times they barely take any off, while on other occasions they take too much off and cut her quick (blood vessel in the dog's nails). Ouch. Overall, not the greatest grooming and I am only speaking of my experiences with nails, but this PetSmart does a better job than my previous experiences at Petco locations. I will continue to come here as the staff is gentle and patient with my dog. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. 90% positive they cut my dog while grooming and then called to ask me if I knew he had a cut on his leg prior to our visit. No, I didn't know because it wasn't there prior to our visit. They didn't even notice until after they'd bathed him And completed most of his haircut. Suspicious, right? They had me pick him up and return the next day to complete and then charged an additional $20 special handling fee that they didn't communicate, just tacked on with no explanation about why it was there. Well do to Coronavirus stay at home, I decided to order items for my cats and have them delivered.!i would of driven to the local Pet Smart in my area but Decided why not try this , as it can be delivered to my door. Well ordered on the 19th and still nothing as of today. Called there 888 # and was left on a waiting time because all are busy at about 8am PST, this # is EST time. Then the young lady that answered "Elaine", said she wasn't sure but noticed the one of the items ordered will be leaving today sometime. My other 3 items are coming from another warehouse. Today is the 23rd. Not able to give me info on when the other will be coming as I need all the items together for my cats . I came in to bring in my dog for daycare they turned me away even with my paper work in hand about his vaccines, it said that he had his Dappv April 27,2023 and he was due May 1,2023 which was pretty confusing but it was supposed to be 2024 however, I got my dog from the spca and I explained to the manager that it must of been a mistype because in order to adopt a pet from the spca they must have all of their vaccines the spca will not give you a dog in their care without being up to date on vaccines. The manager agreed and still denied my dog daycare while understanding the policy of the spca and to be honest it was the managers discretion to call the shot and I feel like if I were a white woman she would of allowed my dog in daycare but because I'm a black female I feel like I was being judged and not allowed to drop him off because of a misprint on his paperwork. It says he had his Dappv shot 4/17/2023 and these shots are administered once a year and the manager agreed but still denied me. I would never ever bring him here. Update 4/2/18 After doing a survey/review petsmart had emailed me, I was contacted via phone call the next day by the assistant store manager Ian. He apologized for my dogs razor burn and offered to have me bring my dog in again to get a full refund and have his body checked out for free. He seemed really concerned on the phone and wanted to make things right. We came in on Monday 4/2 and we visited the on site Banfield pet hospital. The vet prescribed us a non steroid pill that would help my dog with his anxiety and it would help him with whatever he was feeling due to the razor burns (he keeps going into the closet and isolating himself). The check up was a regular one and everything seemed good. The blood had turned into a scab. (I later realized he had a big scab under his neck. I guess we missed a spot when we were checking for more razor burns) The bill was around $60 and we told them that Ian said it would be covered for. At first we didn't want the medicine the vet prescribed because it looked like my dog was doing better. However, when Ian asked checked up on us after the vet check up, he sincerely asked us to take the prescribed medicine because he way saying "As a pet owner, I really encourage you to take it just in case something may happen in the future. It will be paid for even if it will be coming out of my pocket." We took his advice and he gave us back $50, even thought we mentioned that we only paid $40 because we had a coupon. He insisted we take it because he would have to go through a lot of work to find the invoice. Overall, I appreciate Ian and his great customer service. He was really sincere and seemed like he actually wanted to fix the problem. He reached out to us and offered a full refund for the grooming and covered the costs for my dogs check up and medicine. He is really wonderful and deserves a 5/5 for customer service. read more

This review is for the PetSmart Hotel. And in particular, Yair and Ashley. I'm so very happy with the whole experience! We boarded our pup for 9 days and 8 nights and he was so very well cared for!! The check in process with Yair was great! He was very patient with our "nervous nelly" pup, and Yair took the time to make our pup feel comfortable. This of course made us feel so much more comfortable leaving him. We knew he was in great hands. We called in about half way through his stay to check in; and got a very detailed progress report. Yair and the rest of the staff went completely above and beyond with the check out process. We hit a snag in our return flight, which delayed our pick up time. However, Yair was completely understanding, and even stayed a couple of minutes past closing to make sure we could pick up our pup that night. Amazing customer service!! read more

It's one of the worse dog grooming in the area. They have called me twice on the day of appointment to cancel the grooming for groomer family emergencies. They would not reschedule you with a different groomer at the same day! So, you need to wait another 3 weeks to reschedule your pet grooming! Do not book with them! read more

I am a regular Pet Smart customer and I have always found their personnel to be helpful and very friendly.. i have always had a lot of pets so I'm always going to pet stores asking questions about products and pets and making lots of purchases The most recent visit i have had here was regarding fish products and fishes.. I don't remember the name of the girls but there were two girls in the fish department that took great care of me answering all my questions and helping me pick out the right fishes i wanted ,and how to make sure i take care of them right.. I even got some fish food and assessors for them and some blood worms.. It was nice that this store had such knowledgeable staff that was able to help me with my services.. Very helpful and lots of products and animals here. It's a very large store so if you live close by i do recommend coming here for any animals questions , products or etc. They also have lots of live stock animals, which is awesome.. I'm really not a fan of pet's stores that don't carry any animals i think that's kind of lame. Every pet store should have at least a few animals in each of the categories .. Brought my dog here for an express bath, which you have to call to schedule bc it doesn't allow online scheduling (really inconvenient bc they sometimes don't answer their phone all day). I did an add on for teeth brush and anal gland expression bc my dog had been scooting. Arrive for my appt on time but wasn't even acknowledged by the staff that was working on other pups. Just a general hatred of the workplace radiating in the area. Apparently the gal that was scheduled for my appt was late coming back from lunch. Fine. I wasn't in a rush. My dog was there for a total of 36 minutes before being called to come and get here, cute and wearing a bandana but still damp (can only be towel dried but still..) and I suspected her teeth didn't get brushed bc I could smell her stinky breath but how to prove and I don't want to be that person. Anyway, that was less than a month ago and my dog has been excessively scooting so i took her to the vet thinking she has a UTI or something. NO, her anal glands were SO full, they said there is no way they were expressed last month or anytime in between. $60 with tip and the add ons, NOT WORTH IT. I guess I'll pay to go to a bougie pet salon with people that are passionate about their line of work and care about the pets. read more

No stars! Do not book with Ruby H. for grooming. Had to take my dog to the vet due to skin issues , she came home scratching that created scabs and her hair began to fall off . Took about 3-4 months for her to recover. I've taken her grooming there since a puppy and this was her first time with Ruby H. and it was horrible never again ! Book with anyone else than her ! Hello, I'm not one to leave reviews but my experience at this location was amazing. When walking into the salon I was greeted by a young guy by the name of Lawrence. I've been coming to this salon for a bit now and I've always have booked with him and he's always have done nothing but a great job. Recently when I came in he offered this package I think he called it the furminator plus package or something. I didn't know what that package was since I usually just got the base package just to keep my dogs clean but he offered this package since he noticed my dogs were shedding a lot. After handing my dog off and then receiving them and taking them back home I've noticed a substantial amount of less fur being tracked into my house. Over all I want to say thank you to Lawrence and the amazing work he has done and will be planning on booking him soon again. read more

I have been disappointed time after time. For the third time when I take my dog for grooming, I'm not getting what I paid for. They charged me extra for some minor cuts, yet I don't see any difference. I don't think certain groomers are doing the work and instead are charging customers for the services that are not rendered. This is happening to me consistently and I don't recommend taking your dog there. The store in Walnut Creek is much better but for some reason you can't schedule any appointments online unless you book a cleaning and cut which is over 100 dollars. This place is the dirtiest petsmart I've ever been to! Gross!! The floors are so nasty they look like they are pee soaked/stained!! It's really bad!! Came in today because the previous day my boyfriend bought some fish and 7 out of 9 died over night! I have test strips so I know it wasn't my water levels and sure enough when I brought them back they tested my water in store and confirmed it wasn't due to my water levels. I believe the fish were ill and the change in habitat stressed them out ? Idk.. it was sad.. P.S. I really hope "Victor" isn't management because he really shouldn't work in customer service at all.. I could only assume that walking into a pet store with an 18 month old and watching and hearing the 18 month old yell with joy at the fish would attract some attention. Not at this PetSmart. I had a tank, gravel, decor and conditioner in my shopping cart. I literally walked up to a sales associate and asked for help in the fish department. After waiting 15 minutes, and no help in sight, I decided to take my son and walk out. I'd understand if they were insanely busy but they weren't. I even saw a couple of employees just hanging out near the front registers doing nothing but chatting with each other. I'm most sad for my son. I brought Ava (Goldendoodle) to Petsmart grooming for full service, nails, shampoo, and cut for my niece. The person checking us in was very through, asked excellent questions, and provided samples of dog hair length for the cut. The groomer assigned to Ava for the service for Cameron. She was outstanding!!! Ava left looking like a princess, the cut was perfect, we could see her eyes, and she had the cutest little barrettes in her hair. Thank you Cameron!!! read more
