This isn't a review of PetSmart so much, but instead the Kitty 911 adoption that sets up at the store. We stopped in last Sunday 8/16 - we spend at least $500 every month or so on supplies - and Kitty 911 was there. There was a huge sign saying "ADOPT ME" on a cage with a little white kitten, so my wife watched the kitten for a while and then asked to hold her. We have been looking for a white kitten. The person she asked must not have liked my wife for some reason, because she snatched the cage away and announced that the kitten was "not available". She seemed to be in a hurry to get it away and said something about "medical issues". I went to talk to her (I didn't get her name, but she is tall and has curly blond hair) and said we were interested in seeing the white cat. She said that it was not available and had multiple medical issues. I asked her what the issues were. She was taken aback and after hesitating, said that she had seen tapeworms at home that morning and that they didn't have any medicine to treat them at the store, so she needed to take it back home. This is despite the fact that there was an open Banfield Pet Hospital literally 100 feet from where we were standing, who undoubtedly had deworming meds in stock. Also, why would you bring in a kitten with tapeworms to an event like this when a single flea might pass it along to the other cats? This was all just gaslighting. We are usually happy to see Kitty 911 and we even adopted a Russian Blue from them at this PetSmart a few years ago. I really don't understand why this one person was so angry and rude to my wife, but she certainly made us both feel very unwelcome. I think that the manager at this location might want to reconsider having Kitty 911 on site if they are making their best customers consider if they want to return, or at least interview the people that show up and interact with PetSmart customers. read more

When you get inside the establishment it's very clean and you can see where stuff is at really quick. Love the choices they have for pet treats. One thing for sure is that they do need more customer service we are here to see about a pet adoption but it seems like they don't want these pets to go to homes. We have been waiting to hopefully hold one to see if I get a reaction from it but still nobody is helping us. Well we have been decline to adopt suki it's okay no worries it was probably not meant to be. How ever we did adopt 2 tabby cats from joybound rescue it was buy one get one we took the brother and sister so we are happy and blessed to welcome 2 new family members I did go back to this store to get my kitty supplies and I'm happy to say that I'm happy with everything I bought. Now I won't drag this I will say it I will continue to go back for all my pet supplies and needs but will not go back for pet adoptions it just seems like they are not thinking of the kittens/ cats for people that want to give them homes. I can just say petsmart do better have someone that can rehome these kittens/cats or animals that are wanting to get out of that cage they are in. read more

I had already bought another spider and was had extra housing for this spider so I went and heading rescued it because they really didn't know how to take care of it, but that's OK. Groomer: Ruby Location: Petsmart Concord Ca If I could give zero stars, I would. I brought my dog Benny in for a simple maintenance cut and bath. His hair was long, and we specifically like to keep him fluffy. I showed the groomer a photo of the exact style we wanted -- a fluffy "teddy bear" cut -- and clearly stated that if they could not achieve that look, to please keep his hair long. I dropped Benny off at 9:30 a.m. and was told to return in one hour, which is typical for his usual groomer. When I called an hour later (after realizing I had missed my other dog Teddy's appointment and apologizing to the groomer scheduled for both dogs), they weren't even finished with Benny. I assumed the delay meant extra care was being taken. Benny was not ready until 1:45 p.m. -- over four hours later. When my husband picked him up, he looked like a completely different dog. His hair was completely cut off. It looked nothing like the photo I provided and was nowhere near the fluffy teddy bear cut I requested. It was extremely disappointing. What concerns me even more is Benny's behavior afterward. He is almost one year old and has been groomed regularly since he was a puppy. He is normally energetic, confident, and affectionate. When my husband picked him up, he was shaking and visibly nervous. Even two days later, he seems timid and withdrawn -- which is very unlike him. It makes me question how he was treated during those four hours. I understand that grooming salons get busy. However, communication and following clear instructions are basic expectations. I left my dog there trusting he would be cared for properly. This cut cost $110 -- more than the $85 I typically pay at a private boutique groomer who consistently does an excellent job. The quality did not reflect the price. I will not be returning. I only booked here because our regular groomer did not have availability that day. That was a mistake I will not repeat. This is an update review! I went into Petsmart last week, the one on Willow Pass Road. Roughly around noon time. To stock up on bunny food. Surprising to say, betta water is clean & algae free. Also, the bird, last week that seems frightened, feathers looked plucked & stressed out. However, I spoke with supervisor Justin. Thanked him for taking care of the situation. I had suggested that both birds of the same type be right next to each other. The two type of birds where moved by each other. The bird, came up to the glass and greeted me. Happy, playful with its litter and being very proactive with me talking to it. These birds are a type of parrot. Like I have mentioned in my first review, always do your research before you get an animal. Justin had did exceptional work! Paid attention to detail in my concerns. For the Animal safety, he mentioned that the bird was monitored. I said, and it appears that the bird is a lot more happier. The bird's feathers look so much healthier. Justin had agreed, and said we take good care of our animals here. Justin has also thanked me for caring and brought it to his attention. Justin said that this is his store now. I'm happy to know that there is someone like Justin that cares a whole lot, he took care of the issue at hand. I said because the last manager, that I reported the Betta fishes too. He copped an attitude with me, and I did report the situation to Animal Control. However, I don't know whether or not a sheriff came out to look at the situation. Unless I call to follow up. I am writing about their Pets Hotel. I have a cat named Brenda who is the "aw diva of cat coziness" and if she doesn't feel comfortable she will let you know. I have never heard any one of the hotel staff ever complain about her when I pick her up. I've dropped her there several times, even around some busy Holidays they did their best to accommodate Brenda. I really appreciate the effort they've taken in scheduling, it's been quick and efficient. The prices are also fair here. It won't cost you an arm and leg to board your cat. They also take time and engage with you cat so they don't get to lonely or homesick. I don't have any dogs, but love seeing their Doggy Daycare which is closely attached to the Pets hotel where I go. The dogs seem to be having a party! read more

I could not recommend this store less. This happened 5/2. We had just adopted our dog so we needed to stock up on some stuff and make sure she was good for her first day. The store was not the cleanest and no associate ever offered to help me find anything that I was looking for even after circling for twenty minutes in plain view. The worst part was when I go to checkout with a full cart the two associates at the register are having a conversation and laughing for a full five minutes before I'm ever acknowledged. Then when I do actually get some help there's no pleasantries or small talk, I'm barely acknowledged after forking over a few hundred dollars. I don't think anyone here cares about customers or else they'd clean up a bit more and interact with the people who are paying for their products. read more

This was an okay place to go til the last time I walked in with my pup. I was accused of filling out a form I never did. Something called an early check in. When it was found out that they moved it over from the first appointment the girl didn't even apologize. Then they book 3 different pups with the same groomer never told me that. So I was forced to wait 3hrs for my dog to get finished. Which no other time have I had to do this. I had other plans that day so I said I can't wait. Picked up my dog who was not dry not brushed didn't even smell clean js. It was the worst experience I have had ever. I wish I could give a negative 5 star. What ever you do, do not take your pup her. They suck. I was only offered $10 off craziness. The people here on the weekend or not good for business just so you all know. I would rate 0 stars if I could. We came in today to buy crickets. We scanned the QR code to have someone assist with retrieving them & nobody showed up to help for 15 mins. After about 5 mins I went to the check out counter to ask for the bathroom code & saw an employee in the office, doing absolutely nothing. There was one check out clerk & nobody else on the floor that I saw. The bathroom was stocked with absolutely nothing, no toilet paper, no toilet seat covers, & no paper towels. I walk back to meet my bf at the crickets where he was still waiting for someone to help out & by that point there were two other customers that needed help with crickets & fish as well. After waiting 15 mins they go to the check out clerk to ask her for some help & the woman who was in the office doing nothing finally came out to help. What's the point of the QR code if it doesn't work? This store is dirty & unorganized & it seems like they're just too lazy to do their job, whether it's helping customers or restocking the bathroom supplies. We've been coming here for over a year & we started to get the crickets on our own since my bf used to work there & we only purchase 3 so it's quick & easy for him to get them as he properly knows how to. Every time we've done this, no employee has ever come by, even when we've scanned the QR code, but the last time we went an employee appeared & snickered at us to not do it ourselves. So this time we scanned the code & again waited too long for someone to come help to the point where we had to go searching for an employee. This is why we just do it ourselves & it's not harming anyone. The woman who got our crickets today clearly didn't care because we asked for 3 large crickets & she just threw 5 random ones in the bag & wrote 3 Lg. Review for the grooming section Scheduled a full cut & bath with Grace S. Charged me for a full haircut & asked for the additional nail grind ($87). They only gave him a trim but still charged us full haircut price. It was a bath and sanitary trim at best, as shown on their website advertised as $36. Terrible service and would not lower price to match hair trim. Paid $72 for a trim & nail grind. Never bring your dog here. read more

I had to get some special food for my cat and this is the only store in the area that has it. The lady behind the counter in the vet area was very helpful on what I needed to do and got me set up very quickly. Sadly, the quantity of the type of food I need to get doesn't give me much variation. There are basically just two types here so I have to take what I can get. But it's good to have this option. I would give five stars but I can tell you everyone hates the greeting they are required to get when they walk in - both the person walking in the person being served at the register who is interrupted when the person helping them stops everything to greet every person walking in. Just stop doing this. This isn't Blockbuster where everyone has to be greeted by every employee. Just let people walk in and mind their own business without being stopped to be greeted. read more

The dude and I came here on 11/28/20 as his family has a dog and each time we visit his relatives I always bring treats to his family but never the dog so I wanted to get something special for the family dog and decided to stop by Pet Smart. I honestly LOVE going to pet stores as it is fun and soothing to check out the animals they have on display. So we saw Chinchillas, Guinea pig and others! They have a plethora of fish to choose from. It was actually pretty busy as they were still having their Black Friday sales. They had A LOT of animal festive toys and treats so I wanted to get a bunch for Genie the dog. The dude let me know that they don't give her toys as she is so strong she will break it a part and possibly at it! So no toys as I wanted to play catch with her. My inner pet self - I always saw the "It's Beggin" commercials growing up and if I had a pet I would love to give them that treat which is exactly what i did and got a bag. We also got chicken shape treats and bones of various sizes. The staff was very friendly and the store was very organized and clean. Make sure to sign up for a Pet Smart account as I think you can earn points on purchases. When we got home Genie the dog instantly knew we had goodies for her as she was sniffing the bags so hard. I ended up giving her a Beggin treat that is in the shape of Bacon. I broke it in half as it is a pretty big treat! Which she loved them. We also have her the chicken shaped treat which she killed in minutes so I guess the treats she ate were a hit as there was not a crumb left! She also ended the coated bones as the next day we gave her one which actually it took her about 2 hours to eat all the coating off the bone. Overall, the dude and I were super happy that Genie enjoyed the treats and we had a pleasant time picking them out at the store! read more

I like the prices for the cat food and items here. However, I feel that the customer service could be improved. I asked for suggestions because I had adopted a cat and was in a huge time crunch. I was not impressed when the person who assisted me said they were refusing to suggest anything and also just pointed to where I would be able to find a specialty type item. We got out dog today, and she has a kennel cough. On top of that, she also had a wound and bald spot in her eye, and we couldn't figure out what caused it. She was there for ten days. We took her to PetSmart before, but it was the one in Dublin, and she stayed there for almost the same and nothing happened to her. The whole time she was there, we never heard from them if something was wrong or anything like that. Someone from the store tried to reach out to me after responding to the survey they sent. I could call them back, but I'm sure we'll get the same response others have gotten from them; it'll be a waste of time. This is not something we hoped to come home to. Not a bad Petsmart as far as Petsmarts go, I wish they'd stop carrying small rodents. They do not treat the animals well. The vet part here is great and the people are very attentive which is good and one of the best things about this location. The actual employees don't seem to know anything about animals. If you ask one of them something, they have to ask for help from someone else. Every time. I guess maybe one person knows stuff and everyone just asks him? But like all Petsmarts, they have long lines and one register open. When I was here last they did open a second but the line was still really long. Parking lot is full of derelicts that harass you for money, every time I come here. Super annoying. read more

Horrible grooming experience at this store. Made an appoinment, arrived 10 min earlier, only to wait for my dog's groomer to attend another store client who wasn't her direct client for 20 minutes. After all the paperwork was done, she informed that it will take 3-4 hours, I asked why do I need to make an appointment then. She said that they take multiple dogs at the same appointment time, and whoever is available will do my dog. Their online site had me pick up a groomer that was available at the time I made the appoinment, and obviously she was available talking to me and her schedule was opened for the next 2 hour, but she would not groom my dog at the appointment time. On top she gave me an attitude of superiority, insinuating take or leave it attitude. So yes, I left as I would not leave my dog encarcelated in a small crate for hours until they decide to do their job. Just the worst service oriented store. read more

We were in need to f some pet supply and we came here. There's a huge parking lot and plenty of parking. The place was pretty big and had a ton of stuff. We were looking for a neck brace for my kittens since they just had surgery. We found 2 of them . It was a little pricey but it's literally all the options we had. Do not take your pets here for grooming. Even if you schedule an appointment with your favorite groomer, chances are they will assign a different person to groom your pet on the day of the appointment who doesn't know what she's doing because she's a trainee. They don't do a good job with trimming the dog's nails and express anal glands. Their staff are not properly trained to answer customer's questions/complaints and most of the time they give you the wrong information. A lot of times they charge you for services that you didn't receive that's why you have to get the manager to give you a refund. Their store stock is not properly replenished and a lot of the items have short expiration dates or on the wrong shelf. If you love your pets, take them somewhere else for grooming where they will be happy, comfortable, safe and well cared for by competent, professional groomers and get your money's worth. read more

This is about the hotel. Do not board your dog here unless you want it to be neglected. I was there around 7:30am to drop off my dog for daycare when I heard tons of dogs barking very loudly. Nobody was working at the hotel as I waited for about 15 minutes. I peeked between the closed shades to see several dogs in crates crammed together (about 30-40) in the middle of the playroom. They were supposed to be let out at 6am when the staff come for their shift, but they no-showed so these poor dogs were crated for a very long time. At least 10-14 hours depending on when they crated them before closing the evening prior. They were all barking and agitated because they hadn't been taken out to potty or be fed. Can you imagine your dog being crated that long with no end in sight? I found the store manager and he said two of his staff called in, and he had some coming at 8am to help him. This was so upsetting to see this happening, that I decided not to drop off my dog. I drove 40 min and had to cancel my plans and drive home. I was more upset about all those poor dogs. They do not have staff there at night, which seems wrong. I'm no longer doing business there. :-( read more

Two stars since I have had good experiences with Ruby in the past, but she does not aeem to work there anymore. But the services with Laurence today were next level bad and bordering on total incompetence. They dogs were in for their regular bath and furminator and they normally are done in about 1.5 hours to 2 hours despite the disclaimer that they may up to 3 hours. I called at the point they had been there 5 hours and no one had called. I spent 30 minutes on hold before demanding an answer. I was then told it would be another 30 minutes because the dogs pooped and needed another bath. Not really normal for my dogs to poop midday ao that makes me wonder what kind of stress they were under. But then maybe they just had to go after being in a crate for 5 hours with no break. Regardless this was negligent and i should have been informed. The worst part is that we pay to get a bath and furminator to alleviate shedding but now they are losing chunks of hair due to the stress, so that defeats the purpose of getting them shedded. After 2022, when everything started to reopen post-pandemic, we did our best to find a reasonable and good pet boarding for our doggie. We tried 2 other, higher rated places than this one. The pet techs/attendants gave us good feedback on our dog, telling us of his playtime antics. In the end, our dog loves this petsmart. When we drop him off hes excited and anxious, but when I watch him during play time with other dogs and he is having fun. When we pick him up, he looks happy. At home, its like 1.5 days he just sleeps in bed, like he is coming home from his own little vacation. Glad to have this Petsmart. read more

Great store! The newborn kitten I'm fostering needed emergency kitten formula. So I rushed out to Petco, only to find that they closed an hour earlier than posted!! I was livid!! If I didn't get kitten formula ASAP, the kitten wouldn't make it through the night. So I hightailed it to Petsmart & got there 10 minutes before closing. The staff was so kind, & helped us find the last can of kitten formula!! Even though they were about to close, the staff didn't rush us at all, allowing us to also find a good non-clay cat litter-I was amazed by the enormous selection!! Unfortunately, when I got home, I couldn't find my brand NEW iPhone & realized it must've fallen out of my pocket. I was beside myself, & the store had already closed!! But I was so overjoyed when my mom called me only an hour later to tell me that an employee found my iPhone & since she was my emergency contact, they called to let her know I could pick up the phone in the morning!! We went to their competitor and got absolutely no help, nobody cared to actually provide assistance. A few days later we came to PetSmart (Dec 29) and the staff here is SO amazing. They seriously took the time to care, understand, answer questions, and walk around the store with us to find the perfect items to buy. This was especially helpful as we haven't had our first vet appointment yet and online can only help so much. The staff here (particularly Ben/Brian & another girl who we didn't take note of the name-sorry!) were so amazing, we will definitely be coming back here and ONLY here in the future for all our pet needs! Not at all close. Pinole or Daly City. I did find a shirt for my girl. She looks fabulous in it. So glad they carry larger sizes. Pet food express doesn't go larger than a large. Plenty of parking. Not my favorite location, due to the homeless population who took over that area. People are begging for money in the lot. read more

Day Camp: friendly and professional I take my dog here for Day Camp, all day, twice a week. The team is very friendly and I definitely sense that the dogs are well cared for. They get to know the dogs and are very mindful of their needs. They are also reasonable and flexible: for example, I had a dog that was big enough to be in the big dog section, but because he was more timid and tended to be picked on by the other dogs, they kept him in the small dog section, where he did very well. The price is very reasonable and their hours are the earliest/latest in the area. I trust them with my boy. read more

I will never take my puppy back there. This was her second time coming here and since the first time, whenever we got her back, she was trembling. Today when I went to go take her for her appointment, she started shaking a lot, I ignored it but after we got her back she wasn't acting the same. She was scared whenever we touched her, and she wouldn't want to play anymore. We thought maybe she was tired and left her to sleep but after her nap she was still very scared. Worst groom I've ever seen on a dog. Done my butcher "Kimberly". We are so upset. It's like they tried to make our dog look like a joke. Shaved our dog buzz cut on entire body including the ears, head legs and paws after we asked them to leave it long. Look at the long patch on the side of his chest! What is wrong with these people? This groomer should be fired and our money returned! Everyone knows you don't cut short on paws and tail or it doesn't grow back! These people should be shut down! We have taken our puppy here a few times for baths because he does not like them at all and can be a bit much doing it ourselves. Figured taking him to a groomer would be good since they are trained. We have no issues with the groomers at all. They're always nice and give a report about how he did during the service. The employees in the store are always very nice and helpful. We have also been taking him to the pet hotel and daycare a few times since they reopened. His first time there they offered a free ice cream treat for him. That was nice. They have options for him to get serviced at the salon also while he is there. We have taken advantage of that and they waive the extended fee if you get a salon service (is what I was told). I think they are still getting use to everything opening back up. Every time it's different. Sometimes he has a bandana on that they provide, sometimes they give a physical progress report, sometimes they don't, etc. also when you call to book an appointment you are connected to a customer service department and not the location you are booking. Over the phone they don't really seem to know the exact pricing or policy of the locations. I would suggest calling the location and getting clarification on any questions you have to make sure you have the correct information. Especially if they offer to waive some fee. The location may not honor that waiver. It's not a big deal but just interesting that they don't always do the same thing every time he is there or told different things over the phone. But overall we have a very positive experience. The only thing I would say negatively about our last visit, is that he came back smelling like urine. That was a little annoying. I think if the pet smells and didn't smell before arriving they should offer a bath or a discount on a bath or something. But all in all we will still continue to take our puppy here when needed. read more
