I recently boarded our 7 month old puppy here and she did great! The staff are caring and treat the animals in their care well. Because she's still growing and gets fed more than once a day, I paid the extra $5 for an additional feeding. They did say they adjust the amount of food given if the dogs are big or little eaters. I sent toys with our pup to make her feel more at home and I was pleasantly surprised when they couldn't find 2 of the toys right away because they had been washed and were still in the wash room! This wasn't my first time boarding at Farrington's. We boarded our dog prior to the puppy here several times and have always had a good experience. Their prices are fair and the staff friendly. I've also seen the kennels the dogs stay in which are clean, large and offer indoor and outdoor access. read more

I brought in my dog for daycare recently - he was there about 5 hours. He came home with four facial sores (eye, muzzle, chin) from trying to get out of the kennel. He was brought back to me and I asked about the sores (they also said he rolled in his pee). The staff mentioned he was calm when checked on, but he clearly struggled at first. They don't have cameras and house a lot of dogs so I get it but I believe this facility is better suited to dogs who are comfortable with traditional kennel environments, rather than sensitive dogs who need extra support or supervision. He was very nervous when brought in so I assumed he'd be monitored and given extra love. He also didn't eat any of his food (including peanut butter Kong). In hindsight it feels very sink or swim... I honestly don't know what happened but I also felt the accountability was low and there was no follow up by phone or email to see how he is doing. The wounds are a little more than superficial - he would've had to be rubbing on the same spot (metal cyclone) for 30 mins minimum to 2 hours (from what I read). I saw other dogs being walked and there were staff there but I wish I would've seen this before trying MY dog, specifically, there. He rebounded quickly but I can't bring him back as I don't trust his safety and well-being are supported. read more

Tonya at Farrington Kennels is so awesome! She is the only one I trust to cut the nails of my fur babes, Ritz. Ritz is a nervous dog with wildish hair because she's a Maltese, Yorkie and Wire Hair mix. Ritz does not like her feet touched and she screeches from being scared. Tonya trims her feet hairs and cuts her nails perfectly, all while being so gentle and kind to my pet. I could hear her comforting my nervous pup, and when they were all done Ritz came out happy and with pretty paws. She makes the experience so much smoother for me and my little one!! I have never boarded my dog. He's a pittie so I'm just nervous because of the bad reputation they get. When on the phone and they asked about his breed there was no hesitation. We booked him thru the holiday. Buddy stayed for 2 weeks and we opted for grooming to pick up a very clean dog. He was pretty dirty so they did a great job! I'm pretty sure Buddy barked at every other dog and ran back and forward most of the time. He is EXHAUSTED in the best way! He will go back! I will trust them with my boy! I would not bring any dogs to this place. They won't let you tour the place , if you want to bring your own food you have to pay extra , I brought my dogs a few times here. The last time. My boxer died ! She was there three days and when I picked her up she was completely different and confused. I brought her to the safe hospital within 12 hrs after picking her up and they ran tons of test and treated her for whatever they thought the reason might be but nothing was round. All her organs had shut down. So she was either poisoned or she got bloat , they don't pay attention to the dogs. Please do your research. Or hire someone off of rover. Way cheaper and it can save your dog !!!! read more

Brought my two young 15lb dogs for a week stay. Dogs were a nervous wreck when we picked them up. Extreme diarrhea with one and extreme nervousness for both for approx 3 days. They are finally becoming who they were before the visit. The communication from Farrington is -4 on a scale of 1-10. Stayed 7 nights and was charged $400. Not sure how that figure was determined - just wanted to throw the money at them and get our dogs as far away from this place as possible. Shape up Farrington. Or get out of the business of caring for peoples pets. Might I suggest live stock of some kind? read more

Beware this facility has KENNEL COUGH. I understand it happens in kennels, but they refuse to take any responsibility for my dog (yorkie) being so sick. Farrington was the only place he had been to have caught this. He stayed there from October 25 to the 29th, 2024. I have called and spoke with Tonya, the manager or owner of the facility, her compassion was minimal considering i told her my concerns. My little dog was and is so sick over 2 weeks now. I thought he had pneumonia as he was whizzing so much but think goodness his lungs were clear to the tune of an $800 emergency vet bill. This is the first time I have had to "kennel" my dog and I assure you it will be the last. Now I know why their prices are so low. Furthermore, when I picked up my dog after his 4 days stay - he was full of urine. My dog ordinarily doesn't peed on himself. I have no idea what that was about. She gave me some lame excuse, but frankly I don't believe her. His bed was also being "washed". Too many red flags with this kennel. What in the heck is going on with our pets after we drop them off in their care...it's a mystery. read more

I've boarded here a few times and they're ok. I did have one problem, just like one of the previous reviews had with the dog beds being saturated with urine when I picked them up and and my dogs smelled like urine too. I chose to overlook it because my dogs do fine there and the prices are reasonable. I also have had one of my dogs groomed there before and the groomer they have does a good job. But today was different. I made an appointment over 3 weeks ago to have my dog groomed again and I was told to get there between 8am and 8:30 which I did. When I showed up the woman, don't know her name, acted surprised and said that they'll try and fit her in hopefully before noon when they close for two hours, if not it might be 2pm. I wasn't happy that my dog would have to be in a kennel that long, especially since I made the reservation over three weeks ago, but I didn't want to start over somewhere else. I waited by the phone until 12pm thinking that I was going to have to wait until 2pm which means now my dog is in that kennel for nearly 6 hours. I was outside watering when I saw on my watch that I was receiving a call from Farringtons and I ran in but missed the call. I called back immediately and no one answered. So I waited another 2 hours and I called at 2:01 pm, of course she didn't answer so I went down there intending to get my dog whether she was finished or not. When I showed up this woman told me that my dog had been finished since 11:30 and that she called me at 11:45. This was a lie and I tried to show her my phone's call log that said that she didn't call till 12:03. She wouldn't look at my phone and just said she didn't want to argue with me. I will not be taking my dogs back to this kennel because the trust I had in this place is gone. This woman lied and then escalated to yelling when I wouldn't let her off the hook. If the main person in the office is a liar I would never trust her to be in charge of my dogs. One of the reviews made the point that if they're not honest then who knows what it's like for the dogs during their stay. read more

Glad I popped in on them just now because I was looking at the kennel for my dog and I guess they were involved in a training course so I just asked a girl with a dog that I was interested in having my dog there but then this lady yelled at me to get away from the fence that I was distracting the dog's Training. We found Farrington Kennels via Google and saw that it had good reviews. There were more than a few negative reviews but we figured, we will form our own opinion and give them a try. We dropped off our dog on a Friday and had to leave town for a week. Check-in went fine, the staff at check in was nice and easy to talk to. When they brought our dog in, they just had me put a slip lead on my dog and hand him away. I thought I was going to be able to bring him to the place he was staying but did not. Ok that was fine. But when they were gone, behind one of the doors I heard dogs barking and you can hear a worker yell "shut up!". Heard it but just let it go because I don't know what's happening behind the scenes. Afterwards I left. We dropped him off on Friday, the weekend passed and Monday was New Year's Day. On Tuesday we called to check up on our dog and they said that he was doing fine. He's keeping to himself in the corner with his toy. We asked if he has eaten since being there, they placed us on hold to ask the weekend crew if our dog has been eating/drinking. When she came back on the line she said "Yes, he's eating and he's doing great!" That put our minds at ease and felt that he's doing good in there, eating and he will be fine. We were able to enjoy the time away. On January 9th, I picked up our dog to bring him home. When he came out, he seemed so anxious. We thought it was because he had been in there for a little over a week but when I called his name he looked over to me and he was happy to see me. As I was walking him to our car, I noticed how small he looked and how anxious he was to get out of there. I took him home and when my wife seen him, she noticed how skinny he was as well. We called Farrington and spoke to "N", (I wont disclose her name). She stated that when dogs come in it takes a couple days for them to settle in and get into routine. Ok, makes sense. But when I asked if our dog has been eating, she said "she personally didn't physically see him eating or drinking but when she would replace the water bowl, there would be slobber so she figures he would be. Well, the weekend crew said he was eating, drinking and doing great. Well, from the look of our dog, that's not what it looked liked. He was 107lbs when we dropped him off on the Dec 29th. When we picked him up on Jan 9th, we weighed him and he weighed 98lbs. A loss of 9lbs!!!! What the heck!!! My wife called Farrington and spoke to "N" then was transferred to manager "T". She was very rude and stated they took care of our dog and it's not their fault that our dog was shaking and anxious. She said his weight loss was normal but 9lbs is a lot to lose in that amount of time if our dog was so called doing great and eating. She also mentioned they had @ 120 dogs that week and they did the best they can. If you can't give equal care for each pet then you shouldn't have that many in your facility. We never got a call stating our dog was anxious and shaking. We were only told he was doing great, eating and well behaved. We put our trust in this place but unfortunately our dog did not receive the care we expected; More like neglected. Per "T"; this place is not a good place for your dog, take your business elsewhere. Well, we formed our own opinion and will not be taking our dog here for any future stays. Was really hoping for a great experience but we got the complete opposite. read more

Just returned from a trip, having left my newly adopted, immense and elderly Rhodesian Ridgeback for well over a week in this safe and loving spot. Spoiled in the nicest ways! She looks amazing too. A big gahunkus gal who needs plenty more training. I don't know how they did it, but she's improved in both snatching food, housebreaking and general politeness. Formerly running loose in the desert of Texas with large precancerous growths the size of grapefruit... this dumped, untrained, and desperate for food/water dog is new to me. Grateful for all that they've done, I just can't thank them enough for helping with this 75+ lb. dog. I've boarded pets over the years in various parts of the country. There's never been a place like Farrington's. Always clean, never smells of cleaners nor dog debris. Beautifully designed with climate controlled area, a shaded area and an open area for each and every run, with walls and cyclone fencing that keeps the air moving but confrontation eliminated. The staff is amazing -- knowledgeable, kind and professional. Big dog lovers too. Through the years each dog I've boarded absolutely adore being there. Price is good too. I have been meaning to leave this review for awhile. I absolutely love love love Farringtons. Tonya, and Michelle are amazing with my crazy husky, Sawyer. And he loves them! They give him lots of love and make him feel included when it's dinner time and I'm not there yet (he doesn't only eats a few bites). They have a huge yard that they take the dogs out individually to play with them. They get lots of attention and love. They really do treat the dogs like there own. Not to mention, toTonya is so great at doing Sawyers nails he won't let me do them. She's so patient with him. They worried about him when he got sick as a puppy and made sure to check on him. They really go out of their way for the clients and the dogs. I would definitely recommend if you want an affordable safe place for your dog during the day or in vacation. read more

I have never taken my dog to his establishment and I never will. I work right behind this place. This place is horrible. The dogs are locked in the dog runs all day and night. I only hear the owners yelling at the dogs to "shut up". They do have a few pins in the back are for the dogs to stretch there legs, but they are locked all alone with no human interaction. These Pins would be great if someone would throw a ball for the dogs to play with. It is so sad to hear these dogs whine and bark all day. Please for the love of dogs do not bring your loved pet to this sad place. read more

I was scheduled to pick up my pet on a Monday and when I arrived the owner was upset and stated she was closed and does not know who scheduled me to pick up my dog that day. It was Columbus day, and the owner who scheduled this pickup due to Saturday and Sunday closures. She was completely unprofessional and rude. I felt uncomfortable and my young child even picked up on this behavior. She clearly doesn't care about customer service or her business approach. I would never recommend a pet to stay here. Our little wiener dog stayed 8 days here while we were in Hawaii. A week before her stay she had had bladder surgery. This wasn't just going to be a normal kenneling. She needed special attention payed to her tummy and two different medicines to take. She had to take medicine in the morning and at night when she ate at night. Let's not forget the embarrassing doggy cone she had to wear to keep her from eating her stitches. They charge extra for the medical attention. But it was minimal and much less than what I thought it would be to take such special care of her. They provided the bed for her and also handled her special diet food that needed to be refrigerated. I also had her groomed the day of her pick up. Not that she was very dirty because they said that she really didn't want to do much. She doesn't do much at home either so I wasn't surprised. They have the best smelling shampoo for dogs also. I kept picking her up and sniffing her like she was a fine cigar. She smelled so good. We brought her back again about a month ago for a weekend trip away. Again she was totally fine and smelled fantastic when I picked her up. They even let me know that they thought she might be getting an ear infection. Very observant. My friend referred me to this place after she needed a kennel for her two dogs. One of her dogs was an old grumpy grandma pit bull who didn't want to be around other dogs. They took amazing care of her grumpy old dog and their other nice dog. Their other nice dog happens to be my dogs best friend. When I dropped my dog off the first time I told them my friends name who referred me and they were having a hard time remembering. Then I said "My dog is best friends with Noodles". "Oooooh, Noodles!" They remembered the dog not my friend. I thought that was awesome. read more

Thanks for taking such great care of our Little Dusty. He gets so excited when he knows he's going to Farrington Kennels and is so tired from staying up all day and barking. We always pay for a bath and grooming before we pick him up. Even if we don't have him groomed we request a bath. We also pay a little extra to have him taken out to one of the bigger yards than just his run. We like that he's not grouped in with other dogs we are not familiar with for his safety! If I could not give this place any stars I would. I took my dog ,Cleo, to Farrington on Thurs, Aug 31st for the Labor Day weekend. This was her 2nd time being boarded here as I had been happy with the 1st visit. I picked her up Wed, Sept 6th and paid $132 for her boarding. We walked out the door and I noticed what appeared to be multiple angry red bloody sores on her underbelly, her tail, and her right leg. I immediately went back into the office and asked if Cleo had been in a fight. Tanya, the manager, casually took a look at my dog and said "oh, those are "hot spots" and if I wanted she would take my dog in and shave her. I've never seen sores like this, never heard of "hot spots" and I didn't want her touching my dog. I immediately called my vet and took Cleo straight to the animal clinic where I spent $292 to have my dog examined, shaved and the sores treated with steroids and antibiotics. She will be in a cone and on medication for 2 weeks. I googled hot spots and among the causes was "constant licking and chewing prompted by stress and boredom". I called Farrington and told them about the $292 vet bill. I said what I was really upset about was that NO ONE had noticed these sores on her! Tanya explained that I should have purchased the "playtime" option for an additional $5.00 a day. She said that Cleo had been in her kennel the ENTIRE 6 1/2 days and had been a "good girl", had her tail tucked underneath her and that because she had been so "good" no one noticed these OBVIOUS bloody sores! I told Tonya I knew nothing about the playtime option and had NOT been offered the playtime option when I brought Cleo in. She said there is a sign in the office offering the "playtime". I didn't see that sign the first time and didn't see it the 2nd time either. So, my poor 2 year old active dog laid in a kennel for 6 and 1/2 days doing absolutely nothing except licking and biting herself! She did inform me that the owner of Farrington would reimburse me for 1/2 the vet bill. Big deal! So, if you must board your dog here you had better ask what all of the options are UPFRONT. If you don't ask you too may end up with a ridiculous vet bill and a sick dog. I say this is dog abuse! SHAME ON YOU FARRINGTON, SHAME ON YOU! read more

I brought my dogs and for boarding and was not allowed to see any part of the facility, even though I was told when booking on the phone that I could. The lady working the front desk said, "welcome to California!" incredibly sarcastically. She said that after I shared that I was surprised that I couldn't see any of the facilities since that seems like a standard practice at the dog boarding places I have taken my dogs to. To say that she was rude was an understatement. She then aggressively took my dogs to the back and said another sarcastic comment to me. Luckily the hotel that I was traveling to allow dogs, so I was able to bring my dogs with me instead of leaving them at this facility. I had read many negative reviews about this facility and think they really need to be highlighted. Every person I saw working there looked miserable and agitated, not the environment you want to leave your dogs in. read more

I also appreciate the feed back from the employee working in the front. She told me he was scared at first but that they got down to his level and won his trust. Hold on tight go you wallet or purse, and run as fast as you can from this crappy kennel, if you love your dog(s)!!! If I could give them a rating of zero, or even a negative ten, I'd do so in a heart beat. After getting my three dogs updated on all of their vaccinations, worming, flea control, and bathing, I brought them here, each wearing new triple-ply, heavy duty nylon collars. They were there for about two weeks. Initially, the manager was cordial, although she seemed to have to really strain herself to do so. I also left a hard-copy of my dog's vaccination records, provided they either give them back, or give me a copy of them when my dogs left. They promised they would do so. Told them I wasn't sure how long my dogs would need to be there, but I "guesstimatd" anywhere from two weeks to two months. The manager said no problem. After two weeks, the manager angrily & rudely called me up, demanding that I immediatrly take my dogs, or she would send them to the nearest "killing pound!" My home is undergoing a total remodeling, inside & out, so I couldn't take them home any time soon. Someone nearly totalled my car, making it inoperable and suicidal go drive before it gets repaired. And because it just happened, I haven't been able to get into a rental car yet. These dogs are not just my personal service dogs, they are my babies. I bottle fed them around the click for their first ten weeks of life. I invested thousands of dollars, and thousands of hours, in training each of my dogs -- as service dogs, guard/alarm dogs, search & rescue dogs, bird dogs, etc., so I highly resent their threats to put my dogs down! And it is a holiday week, so all the other kennels were already at 100% maximum occupancy. And I couldn't take them home because of the ongoing construction. The day I picked them up, I called in advance to let them know I was coming, and asked for them to please have their vaccinations records, or a copy there of, ready for me. When I got their, the manager was still rude and mean as a junk yard dog, no pun intended. She refused to give me a copy of their vaccination records. Then I went back to see my dogs, I was horrified. Their runs were full of crap, despite the advanced notice of my coming to get them. If their pens are that filthy when they know the owner is coming, I shudder to imagine how filthy their pens are when they think the owner so not coming! All of my dogs were scared to death, as if they had been emotionally & physically abused. They are sweet, easy going, loving dogs. But they seemed to have developed a hatred for both the manager and the hippy looking guy; and they wouldn't act like that unless those two people had given them very good reason to hate them. My dog's new heavy duty collars had all been stollen, yet they denied it, and refused to return them. If they want to take them off, that's fine, but just give them all back to me. But they refused to do so. My dogs were also so filthy stinking dirty that you couldn't tell that they had even had a bath in their entire lives!!! Although they are all house broken, they stunk of urine! And they had dried on urine, and all kinds of other scales, scabs, and dander all over them. Despite all three dogs being treated for flees before going there, all three dogs were infested with flees, and seemed to be suffering from Flea Allergy, loosing hair, skin flakes typical of Flea Allergy, etc., all of which they didn't have going in there! One of my dog's foot was bloody! Another one of my dogs was raw and bloody at the back of her right rear thigh, despite being in a pen all by herself, and despite her wearing a big huge halo collar so she couldn't do anything like that to herself. So how did this bloody wound get there?!?!? They had no explanation. I wasn't expecting to pick up bloody wounded dogs, so they blead all over my premium leather car 33seats on the trip leaving this hell hole. When you walk into where the dogs are kept, almost all of the dogs are angry, scarred, and aggressive. Sweet, happy easy-going dogs just don't behave like this for no reason. Nor does an entire kennel full of dogs act like this for no reason at all! When you have mean angry staff, and a kennel full of scarred, angry dogs, it's not too hard to put two and two together, or connect the dots. I'm now looking at hundreds of dollars in vet bills, fifty dollars per dog to have them bathed, and thousands of dollars in retraining my dogs to be confident, and to not to be afraid of people. In summary, a one-star rating is way too generous for this crappy kennel from hell. I'll never take any of my dogs there ever again, even if it were the last kennel on earth! This kennel is to dogs what concentration camps and POW camps are to humans! And if you care anything about your dog, you will never take your dog there either! Run as fast as you can from this neglectful, abusive, despicable hell hole. read more

The only place we board our 3 dogs. Wonderful staff and very nice facility with your choice of climate controlled runs or indoor kennels. I know that our dogs are very well taken care of here. Every time I take them they get very excited when we pull up to the facility are they are pulling at their leashes to go with staff back to the boarding area. We've left them there for long and short stays and have great peace of mind while we're away. We wouldn't think of taking them somewhere else. read more

I would give this place no stars if I could, flat out poor service. Initially when I called the kennels over the phone, Nicole was pleasant and answered all my questions. I let them know that my dog was disabled in the back legs and even asked if I needed to bring his wheelchair. Nicole said no need to bring the wheelchair and that they help the dogs out to the backyard to go bathroom and bring them in. A week later when my brother dropped off our dog, the Manager at the counter was surprised to find out our dog was disabled and was arguing with my brother. We had no choice to drop him off since my brother was going to be flying out that day and I had already left. I had instructions for care and the Manager helping my brother did not even bother taking them. I needed them to put potty pads down on his bed because our dog has accidents when he sleeps. When we picked him up he smelled of urine and his bed was completely soaked of urine smell. They said it was water and wrapped the bed in a black bag but I had to wash his bed right away due to the overwhelming smell. Our dry food bag had holes on the bottom which means they have a mouse problem. I called back today and the same manager was rude and ended up hanging up on me while trying to talk and explain the issues. They just do basic care and don't care about special needs or if your dog is clean at the end. Not going to bring back my dog or any others to to this kennel and I don't recommend anybody else either if you care for your family pet because Farmington Kennels does not. read more

I've lived near to this facility for several years, and have NEVER seen dogs outside in/on the grassy yards, whether it be in the front or the back (you can see the back outdoor kennels from the Pacheco Blvd. overcrossing at 680). Really strange. We've considered boarding our dogs here but 1) having once asked for a tour of their facilities and flat out denied access to where our dogs would be kept, 2) having a couple of friends who've not been happy about the condition/treatment of their dogs while boarded, and 3) the crazy requirement of delivering your dogs on a Friday and not being able to retrieve them until Monday (for weekends), we've decided that even though it's very close to home, this isn't the place for our dogs. read more

I recently moved back to the area and boarded my two very small, senior dogs for 5 days at Farrington in Dec 2019. They allowed me to bring their own bedding which was returned to me washed, at no additional charge. They also allow you to bring your own food and are very accommodating with refrigerated food, and heating up food if you need, at no additional charge. My dogs were there for 5 days and were clean and calm when returned to me which is unusual for any kennel. Every time I've been there it is clean, quiet and not chaotic. The dogs seem in good spirits and well cared for. I read some negative reviews here and feel they are unfair. Most boarding kennels require appointments for tours, and are closed to pick ups and drop offs on some days or during certain hours. Some dogs will become very nervous when left anywhere and unfortunately they'll injure themselves trying to escape. Not necessarily the fault of the facility. If your dog is nervous like this you should have an in-home pet sitter. This is a traditional boarding facility and they do not provide "free range"open kennel, non- traditional boarding, so the neighbor who complained that the dogs are locked in the kennels all day obviously doesn't understand that is exactly the service provided here. I actually want my dogs safely "locked down" while I'm away, with no contact with other dogs.
