Suzanne is AMAZING!! 10 STARS!! My three Aussie pups love her so much and I feel at ease when she's taking care of them. She's very responsible and accommodating, I trust my babes with her 100%. I use her services when going on a long vacation, weekend getaway or planning a late night out and need someone I trust to stop by and feed the boys dinner and give them love/playtime. Suzanne leaves detailed daily notes so you know when she came by and what she did, love this log aspect when returning from a long trip. We contacted Suzanne in 2010 after receiving a reference from a friend. Suzanne walked our boxer, Iggy, almost daily for three years. She flaked at the last minute! And she has no dog skills. I contacted Whiskers and Tails on October 25th and asked if her sitting services covered the Martinez/Briones area and was she available to sit our three dogs Christmas Eve. Susanne Perino, the owner, said that she serviced that area and that she was available. I asked her to come out and meet my dogs and maybe we could take them for a walk together. And that I wanted to have her walk my dogs a few time before her evening with my dogs. She said my home was too far away but she still wanted to watch them on Christmas Eve. Two weeks before Christmas she called to schedule a time to meet my dogs. She called my cell and her voicemails were very curt because she was being contacted by several other clients for services on the same day. I immediately called her back (my cell doesn't work at home) and explained that we still needed her services. Suzanne came to my home on Saturday and felt that my dogs were aggressive because the hair was up on their back and because I had our youngest dog on a leash when she arrived. She agreed to watch my dogs but then called back the next day and left me a voicemail saying she wasn't comfortable. She left us stranded. This is a woman who has no skills with dogs. Yes, she knows pet CPR but she knows nothing about dog psychology. Our dogs are shy and would never bite and apparently this woman has been bitten by a dog before. If I could give Suzanne, the owner, & her service 20 stars I would. My husband & I have a lot of dogs because we worked with rescues a few years back & fostered & adopted quite a few at that time. Our dogs - like many people - are very important to us; in fact, our lives. First of all, we work long hours so Suzanne comes 3 times per week & lets our dogs into our back yard, gives them a treat, love & attention. Second, she dog sits when we go out of town as we can't take all of our dogs with us each time, twice per month & on our yearly vacay. Without her, our lives would be a mess - so Suzanne is one of THE most important people in our lives. My neighbor has heard her in the yard working with the dogs & has a huge respect for her. He says she never raises her voice at them. Once she came over while we were home & it was obvious the dogs LOVE her. My little rescue Emma, ran to her but wouldn't come to me...hmmmm. Suzanne is almost always available; flexible; has reasonable rates; great with the dogs & also bonded, insured & is CPR trained. She was also referred to us by my parents & their reference is like gold. Having said all of this, we love our dogs but we are not trainers & very busy. I purchased a yellow lab at 8 weeks. It was my very first dog. I wasn't sure what to expect with taking care of a dog. I read a lot of books, did a lot of research because I knew I wanted to provide the very best for him. This included the following key areas; food, veterinarian's and dog sitters. For the purpose of this review, I will be focusing on dog sitters. This is a very important process because I knew it had to be someone that shared my values. This person was going to represent me and take care of my dog (my baby) in my absence. It had to be someone that I could trust whole heartily. Suzanne is completely trustworthy, reliable, and excellent with dogs. Even my birds love her and respond lovingly to her. She is professional and has excellent dog acumen. The Briones' woman's dogs, I am sure, were aggressive, and Suzanne thought better of it and rightly so. I even adopted a younger dog who was very shy and afraid of people at first. She won him over the first time around. I happen to particularly like that Suzanne is professional as that is how I am in that I know she is not personalizing her involvement in my home. I was shocked to see the negative review for Suzanne and Whiskers and Tails. Now that our kids are grown our dogs are like our children. We love them very much and hate to have to leave them home when we go on trips. We admit to being a little neurotic about how much we worry about our little dogs. We had pretty much given up on travel not wanting to leave them in a kennel. Thank goodness for Whiskers and Tails. Suzanne has been a pet sitter for us on numerous occasions for several years and we have been 100% satisfied. She is completely reliable and has even made extra visits to check on our dogs' welfare. Once there was a local fire and lots of helicopters overhead and Suzanne made an extra visit, without charge, just to check on them, to see if they were nervous from the noise. Our neighbor who also watches our home when we are gone said that he always sees Suzanne walking the dogs and that she is definitely coming when she says she is. We trust Suzanne with our beloved pets and with watching our home. She goes above and beyond what we ever expected. She is excellent with our dogs, obviously experienced, and I have also taken her pet CPR and first aid classes even though I am a nurse myself. Our dogs are happy and healthy when we return from a trip, they have been brushed, their food bowls and water changed frequently, everything picked up and cleaned. We have been using Whiskers and Tails for many years and LOVE the service Suzanne provides. We have had a variety of different cats over this long period of time and Suzanne has always been very loving and caring to our pets and very efficient at what she does. The animals love her, and we love her too! Not only does she take care of the basics (feeding, water, litter, etc.) but she stays in touch with us while we're away, is always willing to check in or answer questions we may have or ask some herself if she has any about any of the animals at any time. She is a great communicator. Suzanne is willing to also pick up mail, water plants and do a few things to keep the house up if it's a lengthy vacation or time away. Her rates are reasonable for what she provides. I wouldn't consider using anyone else. She's become like a member of our family at this point.
