They've had so much…read morepatience working with my little 12 lb poodle mix who is very anxious and afraid of her own shadow except when she's in our apartment then becomes very territorial (think reactive barking like she's freaking out). Background: We've tried dog daycares for Evie from when she was only a few months old (Just Pet Me in Oakland, Metro Dog in Richmond and Camp Bow Wow in Concord). Unfortunately, socializing her this way did not help. We stopped taking her altogether when she was about a year old because when we were able to monitor her via a cam, we saw that she was a little wall flower, refusing to socialize with the other dogs. They'd often crate her as well because of this. We were nervous that this was making her more reactive or anxious. Working with Gabby: To get connected with Gabby was easy. My partner reached out and she was really fast with responding and setting up a meet and greet. We were very nervous and thought Evie might do terribly for the meet and greet because she's very territorial with our apartment. And of course, that's exactly what happened. When Gabby came over, Evie was very unfriendly, barking and freaking out whenever Gabby made any movements. Gabby was very patient with her and decided to do a test run and walk her around our complex. Evie was fine when she was on the actual walk. While Evie is still scared of her own shadow and learning to socialize, we've seen her make some progress specifically outside. Typically, she gets scared and barks when people say hi to her. I've noticed there's a little less of that now. In addition, Gabby is really thoughtful in how she creates packs. She matches based on temperament and tries to meet your dog's needs as best as she can. Evie, for instance, is a little wary around highly energetic pups but does well with lower energy dogs or older dogs. Gabby factored all of this in when creating a pack that would work. Since the service is set up to pick up Evie, it's very convenient. In addition, Gabby's team members have all been very patient with Evie and her quirks and are able to successfully pick her up. Evie has slowly been adjusting to them which has been great as we try to widen her social circle. This is a great service for anyone looking to socialize their dog in a healthy, thoughtful way.

If anything comes up, Gabby is always extremely responsive and addresses issues immediately (though issues have been really rare). Overall, we highly recommend Fit Dog Theory. They are reliable, consistent, professional, super friendly and really take the time to get to know, care for and train your doggies!

Such a great company- always giving back to the community and the shelter animals…read more They have a great energy and compassion towards the dogs they work with. I first met them at an adoption event where they partnered with the Martinez animal shelter. They gave complimentary baths to all the shelter pups at the event. Even my foster pup- Susannah. I'm here to share what happened to me and possibly help someone else out there, not have it happen to them. After looking at their website and social media posts, I was impressed with what seemed to be a top notch establishment. I only groom my senior chihuahua mix occasionally and I wanted to make sure they would treat him with gentleness and care. It was easy to see when I got him back from his appointment, that didn't seem to happen. He went in for a trim. I chose a #7 blade, which I now know was far too short. It woukd have been appreciated if the groomer would have made a blade suggestion or mentioned that choice was very short, because I wasn't familiar with all that, but that's on me and not my complaint. My complaint is that the groomer hurt my dog. I didn't notice it at first when I picked him up because honestly it was so chaotic in that small space with two big dogs coming in for service, a bunch of big dogs in the back barking and guys yelling at the dogs to shut up, I just needed to get my very nervous and stressed little guy outta there. It wasn't until I got home that I noticed the cut around and under his neck. I was literally stunned. I've never seen anything like that before and my dog was still shaking. I scooped him up and headed to the emergency vet. He is now on antibiotics and doing better, but it was a rough weekend. Between me crying and feeling like a bad dog mom for handing him over to them and him throwing up all day Saturday, I was not in a good place. I needed to wait a few days before I could even do this review. I love small businesses and want to support them more than anything, but I have to say I would not recommend this business for grooming small or senior dogs. I have no experience with them in any other area and larger dogs might do well here, I don't know. But this is what happened to me and if it happened to me....you know the rest. It was a really hard day that day. Pictures speak louder than words. The last photo is Jazz a couple of weeks ago how he looked when I took him in, all the others are from Friday at home and in the lobby of the emergency vet after his groom. Please think twice before you go here with your small or senior dog.

I wanted to take a moment to applaud the service I received from Apron Strings Pet Sitting…read more My family and I were traveling overseas recently and had a neighbor locked in to stay at our home and care for our two pets: a Pomsky and a Maine Coon. Not too difficult, just hairy and needy. Well, needless to say, that fell through last minute and I was in a bind for sure. I don't like to board them and I want them in our home. I found Apron Strings via Yelp! and saw the great reviews. I thought I'd take a chance... I talked with Howard that evening and got an understanding of what they offered, talked a little to get a read on his love for pets and general personality and was sold. He scheduled a meeting with one of his people to see my home, to walk through and meet my pets. That was great, and reassuring. I scheduled three walks/visits per day for my dog and cat. I was given a daily journal of activities, feeding, demeanor and all around vibe of my babies. That was refreshing. Upon arrival back in the states, Kim reached out to me to make sure everything went well and make sure I didn't have any issue. That was very professional as well. I will use this service in the future for my travels when I cannot find an individual to stay in my home with my pets, as they were professional and courteous. Thank you!
