Update on LesIie's Response: Leslie visited my house and said in person we were a good fit. Only after I questioned the additional fees 34% increase over what was quote, did she say that we were no longer a fit. My pets are as easy going as possible. They simply take medicine. Lesson learned, if you question her escalation in pricing after discussion, meet and greet, her accepting the job and payment made, she will cancel the job last minute. As she admits, she was going to leave my keys with a stranger at a guard gate....By the way, another nearby neighborhood had issues with guards assisting in home invasions. And she can't understand why I insisted my key be returned directly to me. Again, go elsewhere. I am putting this out there as my experience with Happy Tails "unprofessional" Pet Sitting for anyone in our area contemplating working with them. STAY AWAY! I hired her to watch my 3 senior animals (one dog and two cats) while we travel for my daughter's wedding. She arrived with her supposed employee, met my animals, accepted the job, I paid her the full amount for the service and gave her a key to my house. Less than 48 hours before we are supposed to travel, the owner canceled saying that care for 3 senior animals is just too much and not a "value" add for them as a business (aka they actually have to give my animals medicine which is not difficult because they are all used to it and have to do something other than lay around my house).... I am not sure why she took my key, took my money and took the job in the first place after visiting my home just to cancel on me at the last minute. To make matters worse, she still has my key and doesn't want to return it to me, but said she via text that she is going to to leave my house key with a stranger in my community that I do not even know....(at a later time unknown). When I tried to text back letting her know that I need my key returned to ME and not a stranger, she had already blocked my number from calls and texts. She has the dates I am leaving/returning and now has full access to my home. Please watch who you hire.... She needs to take the word professional off of her business name. I have no idea if my house, animals and belongings are even safe now. read more

Savannah won over our shy dog! I've been truly impressed with Happy Tails, especially our walker, Savannah. Our dog is really shy and sometimes takes years to get to know a new person, but Savannah quickly established a bond with her, demonstrating genuine affection and calmness. She is always thinking of ways to help my dog feel more comfortable and confident around her. Savannah also takes the most beautiful photos of our dog on each walk. I was nervous about giving a stranger access to my house, but I felt reassured after meeting her for the initial (free) consultation. My dog loved Leslie the moment she saw her! She does all of the walks herself, so you have peace of mind knowing that someone responsible is taking care of your pet. She is excellent in responding quickly to e-mails and telephone calls. I called several months back. We had just returned home with a Norfolk and wanted to hire a dog walker / companion for our little guy. Left a voice mail and email. No reply or automatic reply. Waited a few days, then left a second email and received a reply a couple days later. Explained that she was on vacation and sorry, but she did not service the Orinda area. While reading her email, went back to her website and Orinda was noted as one of the areas she worked in and would service for dog walking. I've had to temporarily relocate to Walnut Creek for a few months, and I was worried how the moving would be for my 3 year old Ridgeback, McKinley. Since my husband and I work in San Francisco, we wanted to make sure we had someone come and play with/walk him daily. We have bulldogs and bulldog puppies at that. Anyone that knows bullies understands that they can be a ton of work, but that work is incredibly rewarding. Jessica does more than just feed and walk our babies. She tends to them like they are her own. She has been up to the task of administering eye drops, cleaning out folds, wiping their bully behinds and they love her for it. Jess has even run back to our house to corral the pups on the couple of occasions where we've had a puppy jailbreak (dropcam is the best).
