I trust Amanda and Kseniya more with my dogs than I do anyone else around. They are professional yet funny and kind.

If I could give 10 stars, then I would give 11. Ksenyia and Amanda are professional and trusted dog-trainers. For the past five years, these ladies have walked, trained and cared for our family dog, Hummus, who is a pit-bull mix. We adopted him from the San Francisco SPCA. Like many pit-bull mixed pups, his opportunities for finding a loving home were slim. He was anxious, nervous and afraid of others. Aggression is the first word that came to mind, but for us, he was just misunderstood. Kas and Amanda are patient, reliable and kind. Since we brought Hummus home they gave continuously worked with his anxiety and affliction to other dogs. We would be lying if we said he was perfect, but like humans, dogs are not perfect. Nonetheless, he has a come a long way from lunging, barking and growling at other animals. Kas and Amabda have made vast improvements in his temperament. We now have two human pups of our own. He is respectful and has nothing but love and compassion for them. Hummus boards with Kas and Amanda for periods of a time while we travel. They have always been reliable and responsive to our needs, not to mention flexible when situations arise. These ladies started out as our dog walkers, but as we continued to grow in family size our relationship grew as well. We are honored and proud to call them our dog trainers, but most importantly, trusted family friends. Their youth, passion and dedication are truly inspirational. read more

I'm reposting my review because Yelp filtered it out, probably because I posted from my work computer and couldn't remember my yelp login and made an account in order to post. We have been lucky enough to be working with Kseniya ("Kass") and Amanda since near the inception of their business in 2013. We know that our dogs are in good hands whenever they are with them. To say they go above and beyond expectation is an understatement. As Mark mentioned, they are flexible with your schedule. We have had various schedules with them over the past 3+ years. Of course, the dogs are happiest with 5 days a week, but I'm grateful Sunshine K9 can work with our needs and have kept us as clients; which is due to their devotion to our dogs. When our dogs are out with them, I will frequently receive a beautiful text message photo proving that my dogs are definitely having a better day than I am at work. Kass and Amanda work hard finding off-the-beaten-path areas to bring our dogs. They are not the kind of walker that shows up with a large pack of dogs to a crowded dog park and simply lets them loose- which often leads to inter-dog conflicts with other packs. Their "walks" are more like adventure hikes with experienced trail guides. On beautiful days, it does seem like it might just be the best job in the world- but on rainy days, they get the job done too! After this especially rainy winter, I consider them saints for handling our dogs day after rainy day, not even cutting their time outside short. We have a fluffy, white Samoyed- and I know Kass always spends extra care trying to make the best of when she might get herself into a mud puddle- hosing her off and drying her off with towels before returning her to our home- with a Samoyed that is not a quick 5-10 minute add on task, it is a lot of extra work! Sunshine also takes care of our dogs whenever we are out of town. They are flexible with pickup and drop off times, and makes taking a trip so much easier. Their rates are comparable or less than boarding at boarding facility- but so much better; as the dogs get taken to their homes and loved on instead of being kept in a cage, on top of being taken on nature outings; which in comparison make the standard "doggie boarding/daycare" facilities look like prison. I know with Sunshine, that it's all about the dogs. The level of care they receive is great, and I can trust them when it comes to handling our dogs, and even giving dietary and medical advice that has helped our dogs in multiple instances. Our dogs are our furbabies, but as life got more busy with one and soon to be two human babies and the dogs get less attention, I'm so glad that they can continue to have a spoiled quality of life thanks to Sunshine! read more

Sunshine K9 is incredible! If we could give them a 10-star rating we would! They take incredible care of our beloved dog Murphy - both for daily walks as well as weekend boarding when we are away. Murphy always comes back happy and joyous after spending time with Sunshine K9. We also recently used Sunshine K9 for training services - and could not have been more impressed. These folks are simply the best dog walkers. Honestly, I don't know what we would do without them. Rather than walking dogs individually or in small groups, Kas and Amanda focus on creating bonded packs of dogs. Typically our dog does not get along well with others, but because she has a consistent pack, she has the confidence to socialize with the other pooches she sees every day. We have also noticed that having "dog friends" has led to increased confidence and improved behavior at home. We actually think of her daily "walks" as a form of kindergarden--and this makes sense because Kas and Amanda are studying dog-training. Kas is the one who mostly walks our dog (but I am pretty sure Amanda's clients have similarly positive experiences). Kas is reliable and extremely dedicated to her clients and their dogs. On many occasions she has gone above and beyond what I would expect from a dog walker, for example, on a couple occasions she has dropped our dog off at our vet and met us there. She is also flexible, for example, when we need her to keep our dog a little late (like if we have a work event that goes late), a quick text to Kas and she makes sure our dog gets lots of exercise; then she will drop her off on the later side so she isn't too crazy when we get home late. But most importantly, Kas and Amanda REALLY love dogs. I can't emphasize this enough. Their dedication to their client's dogs is truly exemplary; this means that whenever an unforeseen issue comes up, you can be confident that they will extend the utmost compassion and care to your pooch. read more

Amanda has been walking and sometimes boarding our Labrador ever since we moved to Orinda in 2013, and we couldn't be more satisfied with her. Amanda has never missed a day, no matter the weather, and has never declined a change of days or times when we have requested them, and we've done that a lot! Our dog loves Amanda! She truly gets more excited when arrives to pick her up for her walk, than when we come home from work. It is clear Amanda cares for and loves the dogs she walks and this is not a job for her... It is more like a lifestyle. I hope Amanda and Kas stay in business for a long time because I just know I won't be able to find the same quality of service anywhere. I am not a client at Sunshine K9 but a chance encounter with Kaz leaves me convinced that both she and her business deserve 5 stars! My friend and I were walking my 4 year golden retriever Apu off-leash on South Park Drive in Tilden Park earlier this evening. Half way through the walk, Apu decided to play keep-away with his ball. We tried for almost 40 mins to get him to drop the ball and to even catch him as he ran. No luck. It was getting dark quickly and about to rain any second. We were really at a loss for what to do but walk up and down the trail to distract him. Thankfully for us, Kaz who happened to be finishing up a walk with her dog on the same trail promptly agreed to help us get hold of sneaky Apu. She even walked all the way back to a picnic area with us and strategized a crazy (good) plan that involved the 3 humans hiding ourselves inside the bathroom and being boring as door knobs. It took almost 20 mins but it paid off and naughty Apu finally lost interest in his ball and us, finally allowing us to catch him. Throughout this ordeal, Kaz was helpful, patient and alert. She gave us sound, pragmatic advice but did not talk down to us. It was only after the adventure was over did she tell us she is a dog trainer. Her professionalism shown through even though we are not her clients but perfect strangers. We are so glad that we ran into her today. Wish Kaz and her business the very best. read more

Amanda has been dogsitting and taking our dog on 3x week hikes for 4 years. Our dog LOVES her and she will work on training while boarding at her house if you want. She picks our pup off at our house, texts w updates throughout the weekend and drops him off at the end of the weekend. She truly treats him like he's her own dog. read more

Amanda and Kas are extremely reliable, dependable and flexible. Our pup LOVES These two gals, which is the biggest testament to their amazing work! When Amanda comes to pick her up for her walk she gets crazy excited. I like that our pup continues to get socialized with other dogs while getting some time outside. We moved to LaMorinda from NYC. Our little dog had his own doggie schedule in NYC with daycare and dog walkers, anything to keep him happy. As we settled into living in a house with space, our dog adjusted but something was also missing. Then we met Kass, and just like that we have a happier dog. Kass texts me when she picks him up and drops him off. She also send the most beautiful photos of him, seriously my husband thinks she is a professional photographer. More importantly, he looks so happy in these photos. Kass takes him on these amazing trails, he is out hiking in the most beautiful areas in LaMorinda. Kass has also been working with him on coming when called. He is good at many commands, but just a little bit mischievous. Kass really took the initiative to do this, I might have mentioned something to her in passing when we first met, but she really saw that he needed help in this area. The last two years has been a lot of change for our dog, a move and a new baby. Since Kass has come into our lives, he is not only happier, but the edge of anxiety is gone and he is engaging with us more. She really has made a huge difference for out little family. read more

I can't recommend Sunshine K9 highly enough. They have been taking care of our two English Bulldogs for the past four years. Amanda has been a real treasure and is fantastic at what she does. She takes our Doberman for a hike once a week and it is truly the highlight of his day - he can barely contain himself when she arrives. He's become very social as a result of her hikes - all of the dogs get to frolic in the hills, off leash and the pics I get back speak a thousand words - he always looks incredibly happy. He's a very sensitive dog, so it's also comforting to know how much fun he's having when we board him with Amanda. I can't say enough about how fanatic Amanda and Cassie are with our dog. They take Chester out three times a week and often board him for us. We havent ever had an issue of missed dates or times and are super easy to work with and accommodate changes to our schedule.
