This is Guapo who is just turned 1 - being calm and behaving!
    Stephanie O.

We have had 5 sessions with Patti and she has helped us so much! It can be overwhelming looking for a dog trainer - Patti came highly recommended by a good friend . We adopted a 3 month old rescue pup - an American Staffordshire last summer. We watched all the dog training shows, read about dog training and thought we were doing all the "right" things. At 9 months old, our dog Guapo started getting more reactive and aggressive at dog parks - what we thought was just "playing rough" actually was him not knowing how to play correctly and respect boundaries. There were a few incidents where he just wouldn't let go of the other dog. Even after the 1st training session, we saw a difference - Patty gave us a set of rules to "take back our house" and set boundaries (i.e. dog can't go in our bedroom, he eats last, etc). We then worked on impulse control, heel, and distractions. What we found most helpful is how Patti explains dog psychology and trauma that dogs experience. She even send instructions after sessions so you know what to work on in between sessions. I learned how to be a pack leader, set boundaries, and discipline which Guapo desparately needed! At the root of it all Guapo, being a rescue dog, just needed to feel safe and secure - and giving him boundaries and instructions is how he feels safe. It was money well spent and we learned so much. It's the best decision we have made as dog parents.

A behaved, obedient Buster with my three kids.

Patti is the absolute dog whisperer! We could not be more grateful or more amazed by her incredible expertise. She turned our labradoodle puppy around from a chaotic mess to a sweet, obedient companion. Patti's dedication to her craft is unparalleled and she stands behind her results. She is the real deal and kept our puppy as long as it took to get the result she knew he was capable of. Her live-in training option was invaluable. Even more important, she helps you transition your dog by doing in-home training sessions with all your family members to make sure your pup doesn't regress. I think my 10-year old daughter summed it up best when she said a couple hours after our puppy returned: "I feel confident now!" You can't put a price on that confidence and support or on having the dog of your dreams in your home. Patti is a miracle worker and will be a part of our lives for years to come!

One good boy, thanks to Patti!

I had a dog that was an absolute nightmare. We rescued him off the street in India when he was a puppy and flew him home with us. As he got bigger, he became a real problem child due to his wild dog genetics. He was chewing up the carpet, the stairs, wood trim, using the carpet as a toilet, jumping on kitchen counters, people, and biting us. We kept trying to train him, had him neutered, gave him CBD's, but nothing worked. When he attacked two of our smaller dogs and nearly ripped their throats out, that was it. Either he had to be professionally trained, or put down. And we REALLY didn't want to put him down. This is where Patti and her amazing skills came in. She picked him up and kept him while she trained him. When we got him back, it was as if he were a totally different dog. No more jumping or chewing, no more leash pulling, he's completely housebroken and most importantly, no more biting! I no longer have to worry about him attacking my other dogs, or adding to my "dog bite scar" collection. He is now an affectionate, loving, protective and smart dog that our whole family adores. Patti literally saved his life and the lives of our other dogs. She is incredibly knowledgeable, determined, and skilled. I highly recommend her for training of any level. Don't give up on your dog! If anyone can fix a problem dog, she can. Give her a chance and watch your fur baby blossom.

Our puppy came from an isolated home and was not used to city life or children. Living in a city with children we needed help! Patty helped guide us and offered so much education on how to continue the training sessions after her visits. We were empowered and confident on how to reinforce those positive behaviors she taught our puppy. She even taught our 7 and 4 year old how to help train the pup! She trained with kindness and really has a strong connection with dogs. Because of Patty- our dog is such a well trained, calm and sweet girl. Highly recommend using Patty for any dog services!

I don't even have words to express how grateful I am to have found Patty, my dog Finn was giving us a hard time and we tried different training classes before meeting Patty, she changed our life. Finn was a very reactive dog, mostly towards other dogs but at some point he started reacting to people too so it was a struggle for me to take him on walks, he would get so angry that more than once he even bit me during those reactive incidents, we trained with Patty at our home and when Finn got worse I called her in the middle of a desperation meltdown and she agreed to take him into her house for a couple weeks, we'll go my surprise a few days later Patty sent me a picture of Finn sitting next to other dogs, I couldn't believe it! Patty really cares and understands dogs and she was also great emotional support for myself during those hard times. Now thanks to Patty we have a happy dog that we can take on walks, hiking and even to the beach! He listens to commands and now is able to ignore other dogs no matter how close they get, we're hoping to find him a play buddy soon. Thanks Patty, you are a rockstar!

Patti is absolutely amazing and a dog whisperer. We brought our 5 month old Aussiedoodle , Bear to Patti for 16 days. Before training he was out of control with his "puppy" phase. He would continuously bite us while playing, jump on people, bark and not follow any commands on a leash. When we got Bear back we noticed a HUGE difference. He stopped all of his bad habits (biting, barking , jumping etc..) and he followed all commands. Patti truly loves and cares about all dogs. We are still receiving follow up training sessions with her and she will forever be our number one resource for all dogs.

Patti is amazing. She took in our puppy border collie, Bella, for a very fair flat fee and kept her a few weeks longer for no charge to work on a few residual issues. She didn't come back perfect, but darn close. She was a stubborn dog that ruled our house, dragged us on walks, nipped the kids, etc. She came back a sweetheart. Knows all the basic commands: come, heal, leave it, go to your place, stay, sit, lay, etc... I could not recommend Patti more. Plus when we took a two week vacation, Patti volunteered to take her, and it cost less than a boarding facility.

I've known Patti many years. She is a spectacular dog trainer and is very gifted. Now is a great time to train your dog. While many of us are still home we have the time. Patti can change your dog into the dog you always wanted. I've seen so many Ill behaved dogs out there. Pulling on the leash being aggressive towards other dogs. Nonstop barking. Call Patti and let her show you, how your dog can be the best behaved dog.

The initial consultation went very well, and I learned so much about dog communication and how to better support Peaches. I also learned that she is a highly anxious dog, which explained many of the challenges I had been concerned about. We enrolled in Gary's six-week program and finished with the tools and knowledge needed to keep Peaches on the right track toward recovery. Just like humans, dogs rehabilitate at their own pace, and over those six weeks Peaches made significant progress. We're looking forward to enrolling in advanced training once she's ready so she can enjoy more freedom off-leash. Gary is not like other trainers we've worked with. From day one, it was clear he knows his stuff and loves what he does. A lot of the time, Giorgi was too overwhelmed to participate. On day 1, Giorgi hid under a table the whole session. But that's ok because Gary was really training us. By the last session, Giorgi was walking around, watching other dogs and people walk by, and still listening to commands. Gary taught us how to help Giorgi feel safe, calm him down when he's stressed, and build trust. We've already seen such a difference at home. Gary is knowledgeable, patient, direct (in the best way), funny, and available when you have questions. He celebrated every little win with us! You can tell he truly cares about the dogs he works with. We still have more work to do, but thanks to Gary, we know how to keep moving forward. If you have a dog with anxiety or fear, seriously, go to Gary. He's the real deal.

Riesling is a 3-year-old miniature poodle--super smart, but she struggles with separation anxiety and can be a bit reactive when strangers enter our home. In just three lessons, I've already seen a huge improvement. Annalise breaks everything down in a simple, practical way, and her methods work. After our first lesson, Riesling had already learned sit, stay, come, and touch. During our second lesson, we reinforced those skills and began working on her reactivity. Annalise came to our home and showed me easy, effective strategies to prevent issues before they arise, always with kindness. My favorite part of her training style is that it's entirely based on positive reinforcement--no punishments, no techniques that feel harsh or uncomfortable. Riesling genuinely enjoys our training sessions, especially the high-value cheese treats. Annalise is incredibly patient, not only with Riesling but with me as well. She takes the time to explain the "why" behind every exercise, and she provides detailed printouts of each lesson so I don't have to take notes during training. It really allows you to stay present and focused. I highly recommend Athens Dog Training to anyone needing support with their reactive dog. Annalise is truly wonderful. We were able to achieve our end goal of walking off-leash with him. In my mind, I had thought it was going to take years for your dog to know not to run off once they are free. (probably PTSD from when my previous family dog, Lucky, who, if he escaped the backyard, it will take forever for him to come back because he thinks that me chasing him is a game.) I don't know where we would be with our fearful Taiwan Dog if I had not reached out to Grace!…read more Cruz arrived in early February 2021 and we immediately knew he was unlike any dog we had had before. For the first week, he wouldn't come out of his crate, we had to carry him outside to potty, he would barely venture out of his crate even to eat, and he most definitely was not going on any walks; while everyone else's Taiwan Dog seemed to come around much quicker or almost instantly, Cruz was extremely scared and not looking to bond with us anytime soon. Everyone told us "they will come around with love and patience" but I could tell it was going to take more work than that, and we weren't about to let months or years go by without being proactive with him. With Grace's training, we have learned how to truly bond with Cruz, and how to help him relax in situations where he is scared. We know how to "read" him and anticipate how to react/respond to help him. I love that her focus is on emotion coaching our dog (something coincidentally enough we are also working on with our children) and helping our dog help himself so he can work through his fears in any situation. Her understanding of fearful street dogs is profound; she really knows how they think, why they are reactive and how to calm them in stressful situations. Cruz continues to grow exponentially every week. The dog who wouldn't come out of his crate 5 months ago now loves to jog, hike and camp. He wakes up every morning full of wags and kisses for us, happily gets in the car to go somewhere, and [drum roll please] we just had our first very successful beach trip with him where he was so excited to play with us and the other dogs there, he didn't show any signs of fear, he happily walked up to other humans to say hello, was off-leash most of the time, and he knew his boundaries and always came to us to "check in". He still has work to do but at the rate he is growing, he will far exceed our expectations of the perfect family dog. Our family highly recommends Grace!

However, the main issues I have are the disorganization, poor communication, and lack of respect for their clients' time. First, scheduling classes was frustrating and confusing -- there's no real system or even clear instructions. You're supposed to text a phone number to schedule classes (?) but half the time no one responds. It wasn't until I emailed the owner that I got a response. Second, 2 different trainers were late to our private sessions. I do understand that things happen unexpectedly but it would have been nice to get a heads up. A third trainer didn't even show up to our session. After waiting for 15 minutes, I emailed the owner and was told that the trainer moved the class to a different day but never even bothered to let me know. And finally - When I was in the process of signing up for training, the sales guy had confirmed that the package I was purchasing included FOUR private classes and TWO group classes. After I completed the private sessions, I reached out (a few months later) to schedule the first group class. However, I was told that the package I paid for was actually for FIVE private classes and NO group classes and that if I wanted to do a group class, I'd need to upgrade to the Lifetime Package. In all fairness, when I explained that this was NOT the package I had discussed with the salesguy and signed up for, the rep apologized and tried to make things right by honoring the 4 group classes that I had originally signed up for. I thanked her but declined. The thought of potentially having to go through all the same frustrations was not worth it in my mind.
